Someday, Love Will Find You
Cadence, let's call her Caddy, was sitting in her room, doing stuff. Like reading. Or writing. Or drawing. Or spying on pony couples so she could fulfill her daily quota with matchmaking. She did it with her magic mirror that she had since a foal. She'd flip through couples at random, until she found a pair that was fighting, and would select them. Then she'd preform her spell, and watch as they stopped, then started to apologize. It was dramatic, really. Sometimes they'd fight about the dumbest things. Once, even, she had seen Fluttershy and somepony she didn't recognize - he was a unicorn with a pale yellow brown coat and a candy cane striped mane with an apple slice as a cutie mark - fighting, or in her case, loudly talking, about some machine behind them. Fluttershy apologized like a madmare, and he just sighed a little.
She was in her usual room in Canterlot Castle, and Shining Armor was in the other room, probably talking to Twilight. He had a mirror, too, but that one enabled speech. It could let you talk to another pony from miles and miles away. It was amazing, really, what the scientists could invent. She had recently purchased a machine, from Stalmart, that could - wait for it - POP POPCORN! She had spent a whole day trying different foods in there, but not really any worked.
Despite her appearance, Caddy thought, Luna wasn't all that bad. It was surprising that she and Celestia were sisters, really. They were so different, sometimes. Luna would always eat these little round pie things, for instance, filled with creme, and Celestia was always snacking on sunflower sandwiches and bananas, of all things. She wasn't sure why. It was uncouth for a Princess, of all ponies, to snack on something like that.
Speaking of bananas, Caddy had recently visited a banana farm to get a few presents for her cousins. She had purchased a whole tree of them, and brought the tree to Celly, who planted it in the royal garden and appointed five guards to watch it at all times. For Luna, she had just gotten some socks, also from Stalmart. She couldn't think of anything else.
Cousins, really, cousins. It was absurd how she was related. Especially to an uncouth beast like... Blueblood. Blueblood, whom everypony called Bloo, was a horrid little beast. He was spoiled to the bone. She couldn't imagine anypony marrying the monstrosity, especially Rarity. She had heard - no, watched - Rarity once complain about her life, and she had said something about marrying him. She pitied her, and secretly helped Rarity by making her heart forget about it. It was at least something she could do for Rarity, especially after having her make all those dresses.
The wedding, as planned, turned out fabulously. There wasn't a bachelor party, though. Spike totally forgot about it. Their honeymoon was even better than the wedding, though. They had went to a nice tropical beach and visited the Gryphons. It was quite nice, really. They had spent a week there, snacking on bananas, the uncouth things, since Celestia and Shiny liked them, and other fruits, including some left over apple fritters from the wedding.
Caddy peered into her mirror, flipping to Applejack, whom was romping around the Apple Family's farm, bucking trees and tousling with her little sister. She was rough and rowdy, as was the rest of her family. They all seemed out of place in Ponyville, especially with Rarity and Twilight around. And well, so did Spike. He was the only dragon around for miles, really. Everypony called him a baby, although only dragons know there true age.
Yes, Caddy had met many dragons before. She had an adventurous past childhood, including running away from home and exploring until she arrived in Canterlot. She had known she was a princess and all, but she just didn't want to go into life with that high-brow point of view. It was unbecoming. She had met Luna and Celestia again once she had come into Canterlot. She had tried to stay hidden, but you can't do that well, looking like... well... her.
Caddy gazed back, looking at her form. She was bright pink, with and odd hair color scheme, that even she could admit to. She wasn't very fond of the yellow and pink, and wished she could dye her mane purple. She had tried before, actually, but it disappeared. Alicorns' features couldn't be removed, even if they might've wanted to. She mostly wished to have a flowing, sparkling mane, like her cousins, but she couldn't. She could almost imagine a deep purple mane, almost like Luna's. She also had an odd finish on her horn and wings, tipped with purple. That was a rather likable feature, she thought. Even Rarity was jealous when they first met.
Rarity had told her about the incident with HER wings back at the Best Young Flyers Competition. She had tried to describe the best she could, but just kept ending up saying "Ah, dear... they were just MARVELOUS.". From what Caddy could get out, though, they had been big, like a butterfly's, and had many colors. They really did sound marvelous, and Caddy had wanted to grant them to Rarity again, but reconsidered after reading a somewhat similar fable about a pony flying up to the sun, just like Rarity.
Speaking of the sun, how exactly did Celestia raise it? She knew that it was with magic, but how could somepony summon that much power to just, relocate an object so much larger than Equestria across the sky? Even Luna, really. The moon might've been significantly smaller, but it was still an amazing feat.
The Sonic Rainboom was also an amazing feat. Cadence had remembered it like it was only yesterday, even though the wedding happened about half a year ago. She thought she could feel the colored air particles hitting her face sometimes. Shining didn't, however. Caddy thought it might've been because he wasn't an Alicorn, but that wouldn't make much sense, since the only difference for him was wings.
How would Shining Armor look in wings? She couldn't quite imagine. Using her levitation she brought a pencil and paper to her and scribbled up a drawing of him. She quite liked his mane colors, since they blended together so well. She remembered the first time they met, back when she first started babysitting Twilight, and was amazed that the two were related.
That was the job she had to get when she first came to Canterlot, before she decided to meet Celestia. Caddy was actually unaware of Luna not being there. She hadn't heard the fables. Anyways, Twilight was a good foal to look after. She always got her work done, for one, and didn't eat very much. That was also pretty good, since Twilight's family and Cadence were pretty poor, and they couldn't afford to buy extra food for a greedy foal.
She might not have been a greedy foal, but she sure was good with magic, unlike Cadence was at her age. Caddy didn't even know a basic levitation spell, and she had to teach herself. It wasn't exactly the most interesting thing in Equestria, but it was something.
Caddy always had this melody in her head. She couldn't really recognize it and determine what it was from, but it was always there, like a leaf barely stuck onto a tree with a bit of sap. Sometimes some words would come to her, too, and they'd seem to fit just in those elusive spots in the music.
Just as Caddy began to hum the music, a knock sounded at the door.
"Yes, whom is it?" she called, straightening her mane and slipping the mirror under the covers.
"One of the Royal Guards, Princess. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna would like to speak with you now, if you're ready."
"Ah, yes. I'll be out in a moment, dear," she responded, then silently slipped out of her bed. She quickly brushed her mane and slid into a dress, then opened the door. The guard waited for her, then escorted her to the diner, where her two cousins were waiting.
They arrived, and Caddy lightly pushed the door open with her hoof. Just as it barely made contact, though, she realized a mistake, and eyed her hoof wearily. She had forgotten her shoes!
"What's the matter, your majesty?" the guard asked, looking at her nervously.
Caddy straightened herself out, and turned to him. "Oh, nothing. Was something wrong?"
The guard just shook his head no, and Caddy opened he door. Luna sat at a table, forelegs splayed out across the wood, and her head slouched. She was the first one there, obviously.
"Hello, Luna!" Caddy cried, then trotted over to her and gave her a hug.
"Hello, cousin," Luna replied, returning the hug.
Caddy walked to the other side of the table and sat down opposite of the Night Princess, and just then her other cousin walked through the door, flanked by about ten guards.
"Hello, Celly," Luna and Caddy both said at once, and Celestia returned the greeting.
