Chapter 3: Goocakes

Mrs Cake was woken up early in the morning to the sound of somepony hurling loudly in the nearby bathroom. When she looked into the room she saw Pinkie praying to porciline throne with a flurry of gags. She tried to turn around and say good morning to Mrs Cake, but she had to keep her snout in the toilet bowl or else she would spew all over the bathroom, making a bigger mess than she had a week ago.

"Pinkie, dear, are you feeling alright?" Mrs Cake asked, coming over to stand right next to Pinkie, pulling her mane back with one of her hooves. Pinkie just continued to hurl, so Mrs Cake decided that she was going to stay by her side and wait for her to finish. While she waited Mr Cake woke up, as well as the twins, who joined in the noisy morning by adding in their cries. He looked into the bathroom for a moment before heading towards the twins' bedroom, hoping to make them stop crying. A few minutes later they started to calm down, again making the only noise in the bakery to be Pinkie's hurling.

"Is she going to live?" Mr Cake asked tiredly as he looked into the bathroom again. Mrs Cake gave Pinkie a close look before she stood up, letting her mane fall back around her face.

"I think she's feeling sick because of, well..." Mrs Cake trailed off, looking back at Pinkie as she shook from hurling for so long. Mr Cake understood what she was talking about and nodded slowly, turning to head downstairs so that he could get started on the day's baking while Mrs Cake kept Pinkie company. When Mrs Cake returned to Pinkie's side she held up her mane again, just as Pinkie finished her hurl fest.

"I never knew cupcakes would be so gooey when they came back up..." Pinkie moaned as she held her stomach, still feeling like she needed to barf, "Did you know that you can still see the icing?"

"Pinkie, do you know why you're sick?" Mrs Cake asked, even though she already knew the answer. Pinkie thought about it for a moment, a look that said she was really thinking about it came over her face. When she finally came to a conclusion in her head she smiled, looking at Mrs Cake with a knowing look in her eyes.

"It's because I ate a bunch of cupcakes last night!" Pinkie said happily, thinking that she was completely correct. When she finished smiling she felt a new wave of nausea take over her, forcing her to shove her face back into the toilet bowl. Mrs Cake sighed and rolled her eyes as she held Pinkie's mane back again, making her time easier. After giving her a few minutes to hurl Mrs Cake's leg began to feel tired so she switched, and accidentally punched Pinkie in the face because she had sat up really fast.

"Oh, I'm so sorry dearie!" Mrs Cake said quickly as Pinkie's wet mane was blocking her face from view. Mrs Cake went to move the mane out of the way and instead found Pinkie's hoof, with the bottom of it turned towards Mrs Cake. She blinked a few times so she was sure that she was actually staring at Pinkie's hoof, which for some reason was under her mane...

"Gotcha!" Pinkie said happily before she went back to vomiting. Apparently at some point she had lifted her tail up with a leg and placed it behind her head, and on top of a hoof. When Mrs Cake had gone to switch hooves she wasn't paying attention, and ended up hoof bumping with Pinkie. She had no idea which hoof she bumped, or how it got to where it was, but right now she didn't care to ask.

"Pinkie, what are you trying to do?" Mrs Cake asked, sounding just about as annoyed as she actually was. Pinkie managed to stop hurling just long enough to sit up and face Mrs Cake so she could answer her question.

"I had a feeling that you might have accidentally hit me at some point, so I moved my hoof to where my head would be so you didn't do any damage!" Pinkie said oddly cheerfully considering she was talking about getting hit in the head. Her cheeriness was quickly ended by another urge to vomit, but this time she managed to fight it long enough to give Mrs Cake a very pained look, as if her stomach was trying to break itself out of her body. Just before she shoved her snout straight back into the toilet bowl Pinkie saw Mrs Cake getting up and heading downstairs, knowing that right now nothing she could do could help. When Mr Cake entered the kitchen she saw Mr Cake with at least half a dozen baking trays balanced on his back as he attempted to put them all in the ovens at once.

"Would you like some help dearie?" Mrs Cake asked as she picked a few of the trays up off her husband's back, making his life a whole lot easier. After all of them were in the ovens he turned to her, a bead of sweat running down his face.

"Not anymore thanks to you sugarplum" Mr Cake said as he leaned in to give her a kiss, "How is Pinkie doing?"

"She's pregnant" Mrs Cake replied instantly, surprising Mr Cake so much that he did a double take.

"How do you know?!" Mr Cake asked worriedly, afraid that having another small foal in the house would make things even harder on them, especially because it'd be Pinkie's.

"She's having morning sickness right now" Mrs Cake said, being confirmed by the sound of Pinkie moaning in agony during a rest period between gags, "It's been a week since we found about, well..." Mr Cake nodded slowly, not only because he understood what she was saying, but also because he was worried about how Pinkie would react to the news. Either she would be overjoyed, or she would become extremely depressed, he couldn't tell. All they could do now was wait for her to feel better, and then, tell her.
