Dawn is an orphaned Unicorn who lived thousands of years of years ago, before the founding of modern Equestria.

After her village was brutally pillaged when she was a baby foal, she was adopted by a Changeling who loved her greatly, and his wife, who was less than enthusiastic to have a pony for a daughter.

When she left the land of the Changelings, she decided to live a quiet life of seclusion and study in a tiny village, but her ability to communicate with the Changelings makes her one of the most valuable ponies in Equestria, but this causes her more harm then benefit.

After marrying and having foals, the "excitement" of near-death experiences leaves (for the most part), but life has not stopped deciding to try and screw her over.
