Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep
I stir to the sounds of crying and the heart monitor. I look to my right, and looking out my window, sat a yellow pegasi pony, with a long, pink mane. I start to sit up when the tear-stained face of the pegasi turned to face me. She suddenly flew into my arms, sobbing. I started to pet her pink, silky man and comfort her, saying (or rather croaking) “Hey, everything is going to be alright. I’m alive, aren’t I?” The pegasi known as Fluttershy stops crying for a moment and replies, “Yeah, I guess you are…” In reality, I wasn’t ok. I wasn’t going to live long. I had my rib cage cave in and shatter, sending shards of bone into my heart. With every beat, it was tearing itself apart. I had around a day to live. But before I tell you what happened after that, I need to tell you this.
My name is Jake. My life has been a mash-up of disaster, anger, tragedy, and death. And to top it all off, I don’t even have a girlfriend. For that fact, I don’t even have ANY friends, boy or girl. I left my family for their own good. Dad was constantly getting injured, Mom was constantly yelling, and I was constantly the scapegoat. Now, I had no family. I’m a nomad, trekking the urban jungles. My job is pretty decent, at least. I get paid well and it’s fun. I produce music. Music is my life. The only thing I have to live for and the only thing that keeps me sane. I live in a run-down apartment because there’s a house I’m looking at in the country. I have a crappy car, and I’ll be damned if any one will ever love me. The only other thing I have to live for is My Little Pony. The bronies have been running the show for about four years now. Hasbro sold the rights to the show to the fandom in 2016. The show’s been running a new episode off every Saturday, all day on a private TV channel. After watching an episode, I head to work. On this particular day, though, something happened. My car broke down and I had to walk. My boss was extremely angry that I was late again. Then the people who came in to record… The bullies from high school. Oh, how I hated them. They made a crack about me and I lost it. My boss proceeded to fire me, and I left with a middle finger aimed at him. I was raining that night, so I was cold. I continued to walk. After about an hour, I started to show signs of hypothermia. I had left my jacket in my car. Didn’t think I’d need it, which turned out to be a stupid choice in the end. My shivers and “brrrrrrr”s are interrupted by a faint noise. I halt and listen. It seems to sound like a small girl crying. I walk towards the noise, and sitting on a bench, is a little yellow pegasi filly with a pink mane. Amazed at what I am seeing, I stammer, “Are… Are you okay?” Then the crying stopped, and the cutest little face you ever did see looks up and stares at me. Then she stands up and nudges her wing, whimpering after doing so. I notice that her wing is broken. She then replies, “My wing hurts really bad… and I’m cold…” I must be dreaming, I thought to myself. A real pegasi? It can’t be! I reach out to check her wing, and it’s solid and soft as down. My god, she IS real! I thought to myself. I think for a while, and I make a life-changing decision. I will take the filly home and take care of her. I knew who she was, and I was confused on what she was doing here. I gently scoop her up and cradle her, being cautious of her wing, and I start to walk home. Along the way, I start a small conversation with her. “My name’s Jake.” I say to the filly. She acknowledges and replies, “My name is Fluttershy…” My heart nearly stopped at how she said it. The fans had gotten it right, she spoke as soft as a mouse. Not only am I taken aback by the statement, I’m amazed. Fluttershy, resting in MY arms. This is AWESOME! When we reach my apartment, we go straight in and turn on the heat. I then proceed to the medicine cabinet for supplies to bandage Fluttershy’s wing. After fixing it up, I go and get her some blankets and a pillow so she can rest. I go to the bean bag chair I had and covered it in fuzzy blankets, placed the pillow, and picked up Fluttershy to come and rest on the bean bag chair. Now on to cooking. From watching MLP quite a bit, I know that the ponies eat quite a bit of apples. So I took a few and stuck them in the oven, and roasted them. I then proceed to bring them in to her, offer them to her and whisper, “Once you’re done eating, I can give you the grand tour if you’d like. Just let me know if you need anything else.” She sat up, replied “Thank you… no one has ever been this kind to me…” and took the apples. After that, it would be the tour, a shower, and bed time. Tomorrow would be a big day, as I’d have to find a new job. But for the time being, I had to take care of Fluttershy.
