Chapter 7
Sin City

You walk out the gate not turning back to see Luna return. You know she was upset. You didn't know how to comfort a princess. Although you had similar problems you had no clue what it would take to keep her happy. You barely knew how to cope with Amy's death. Killing your father wasn't the best solution you thought of.

You bumped into a wall. Backing up, you gazed up to see it was a bar. 'Not the first time I'll drown out my problems... Surely won't be the last time either...' You tell yourself as you push opent the doors to the bar.

It was a small bar. With it being in a rich and fancy nieghborhood one would think most bars would be rather large. You were even more surprised that it was open this early. It was about five o'clock. The pain in you grew Luna release her stress and frustration leaving just sadness. You rushed to the bar and took a seat in that instant.

You take a stool and wave to the bartender for a beer. She walked over to the keg and filled a few glasses. Yout took the time to look around and see who would be getting the extra mugs she was making. No pony save you and her were in the bar. She trotted over with the liquor in tow.

She was a unicorn pony with a teal and red mane. Her eyes were a voluminous shade of light green. Her coat was a lighter gray. She had a rather odd cutie mark. It looked like a mug of beer overflowing with foam. Her hips swayed a bit as she approached you. You would have enjoyed the little show but you weren't in the mood.

"You know we don't open till seven right?" She asked a bit of anger in her voice. It was just a tinge but you knew the tone all to well. You shook your head and began to get up. "You don't have to leave... Your already here and my policy says I can't turn any pony away unless they are too damn drunk... You don't seem to even have a buzz... Let me fix that for you..." Her words seemed to have another meaning behind them but you never jumped to conclusions. She set the mugs down in front of you and walked around the bar to sit in the stool next to you.

"So tell me your story..." You gave her a hard stare. "I know you're not from around here... Law says no bar is allowed to serve until seven..." You picked up the mug in defiance and downed it in one gulp. You brought it back down with tremedous force making it slam onto the bar. You frowned when it didn't break or even crack. She pushed another glass to you before taking a sip from her own.

"Quiet type huh? Well, I will get some info out of you... One way or another..." Her voice was with that suggestive tone and occompanied by a sly smile that stretched ear to ear. She gave you a little nudge before grabbing her mug and lifting it to down it in one gulp, which you had done just moments before. She slammed hers down harder than you had done and wiped the foam from her mouth. You glared at the mug and tried to figure out why it mocked you so. "I can drink with the best of 'um!" She proclaimed before heading back behind the bar.

She picked up a cloth and began to wash a few glasses. After a while she sent another beer down the sloped bar. The mug screached it way down to your outstreched hoof. You pushed your old mug further from you and began to take mad chugs at the new one. You set it down and wrapped both hooves around it.

"You're right..." You mumbled.

"Hmmm...?" She asked turning back to you.

"You're right..." You spoke louder this time. "I'm not from around here... I'm from a small town called Buckingham..."

"Really?" She asked seeming to get excited at the mention of the town. "You know I grew up there myself! I left it all behind to see cities of Equestria... I wound up herewhen I ran out of bits... I took a job as a server and workered myway to bartender... I bought my own bar after a few years and have been working here since..." She had stopped washing th cup she held and set it aside. Walking backto stand in front of you she gave you a stare that could rival yours easy.

"I gave it all up to travel... I regret leaving my family... I know I shouldn't have left, but something nagged me on... If I could go back and change what i did... I wouldn't... I'm not proud to be here, nor am I ashamed..." She sighed and hoovedyou another full mug. "These are on the house... You have to pay for anything after Ice and Frost get here..."

"When are they going to get here? You ask. The numming effects of the alochol where now starting to take hold of your body.

"Now." She said pointing toward the door. Sure enough two young stallions walked in and took a seat at a small table in the corner of the room.

"Oi! Who's the fresh meat?" The smaller cyan pony asked. He was a pegasus with a black mane and tail. Each had a yellow stripe that ran through it. He had a snowflake as a cutie mark. He looked just a few years younger than the darker pony sitting next to him.

"Settle down Frostbite... He's been here a while now..." She scowled.

"Sorry Fern..." He turned his attetion away and began to talkwith his partner.

"Don't mind them too much... Anyways, I left my sister back in Buckingham... Do you know a MoonJade?" Your eyes widened. It was the first sign of emotion you've shown since you watched Amy fade away in front of you.

"Yes... Yes I do..." You say rather quietly in your empty glass.

"Well, I got a letter from her the other day... She sounded quiet upset about her lover leaving her... She said she had finally found the stallion of her dreams... You know, now that I think about it... You fit the discription she gave me... You're him aren't you?" You gave a slght nod before getting up to leave a second time. "Wait!" You stopped but you didn't turn to face her. "Tell me and... and I'll throw in free drinks for today and tomorrow!" You heard a loud spit from the other side of the room. Looking over you notice the ponies had a beer and were looking in disbeleif.

You thought back to the pain you felt growing in your chest. 'I'm going to need it...' You thought walking back to the bar and taking the same seat as before. Fern sat next to you. You checked the clock. 'Only six o'clock...' You began to tell her of the day Jade found out she was barren. After you passed the guards you skipped the part about having sex with Luna. She knew you were holding something back but didn't press you. You tried your best to explain the bond, but she butted in and explained it way better.

"I really don't know if I could go back.. I don't know how to comfort any pony... They all know how to comfort me, but I just can't do the same for them..." You felt a soft hoof rest on your back and begin to run up and down it very gently.

"She loves you and needs you... I don't know how I would help her either... I know if I was in that situation though that I would want my lover to be there with me... To help me through my hard times..."

"I can't." You growled at her. "I've lost everything I have ever cared for... I didn't want to feel the pain and suffering anymore so I gave up on caring... I love her... I know I do, but giving her up is much easier than having her taken away by force..." you felt a tight squeeze and turned to see Fern wrapped around you as tight as she could possibly get. You tried to push her away but to no avail. She let go a few minutes later and went back to polishing cups. You heard the quiet sobs she made but had no way to make her stop. After a few hours the bar began serving patrons, not many but enough to keep Fern busy.

Fern walked over to you after serving most of th customers in the place. You watched her put up with the rudeness and lude remarks from most of the ponies here. She didn't even seem to mind it to much but rather enjoyed the attention they gave her. This confused you greatly as you watched a rough young stallion reach out and slap her plot. She turned and gave him a sly wink but when she wasn't facing him her face was pure hate.

"Ice wants to talk to you." She said shoving three steaming beers at you. You didn't question her and walked to the table with the two stallions. Sitting down you passed one to each. Ice was a darker blue than Frost was, almost a deep navy. He had a black mane and tail. His cutie mark stated his name perfectly. Ice. The air around him was wicked cold. He wore a band on his left hoof that glowed a radiant orange.

"You like it?" Ice asked when he noticed you staring at the strange trinket. "It regulates the air and it also regulates my body... To a degree..." He smiled at the comment as if you should know what he was getting at. Ice reached out to the three cups and touched each one in turn. They froze solid at his light touch. "I may be a unicorn but I don't like levitating hot beer to my mouth..." He lifted the mug to his face and raised it just above his head and let the foaming liquid down his throat. You could tell it was no longer a steaming liquor but more a cold soft drink.

Scooting yours closer you watched as Frost picked his up with ease as well. Frost slammed his mug down and wiped his mouth when he noticed a bit of foam around his lips. You slid your hoof through the handle and lifted it up. The mug wasn't as cold as you thought it would be instead it was actually very warm.

"Fern said you wanted a little chat with me..."

"Yeah... I do..." He took another chug. "In the past four years I've known Fern she has never once been open with a patron... Your something special... Don't let that got to your head and what ever you do don't ruin it..." Frost snickered at you.

You set your mug down after a quick sip and turned to face him fully. He looked a little nervous at first but then he visibly calmed. You knew on the inside his nerves were racked. Frost was sweating profusely now.

"It's stellar to see her act so openly again... I've been here only a year now but I thinks its really stellar to work for her... She's really nice..." He was babbling incoherently now.

"Calm down Frostbite... Look I don't know why your here but if your gonna get those beers she promised I'd like to get to know ya a little better... Frost..." He said with a side long glance to the cyan pony. "Get yourself some fresh air... You've been sitting here way to long." The pegasus didn't even bother to question him and left the bar in a mock rush.

"He gets nervous often huh?" Ice nodded.

"He use to live in Ponyville... I feel bad for him... He had the hots for a certain pegasus pony that lives out there... You ever been there?"

"Yes, I have... That's the day my life went from great to worse in just a few hours..."

"Really now?"

"Yeah... They sure know how to party though..."

"Pinkie's famous 'Welcome to Ponyville' parties?"

"You know it!" You both chuckled at the thought.

"Then I guess you have met a one Rainbow Dash?"

"Yeah, I know her... She almost killed me when she found out I slept with Fluttershy!" Ice spit out the beer he had been sipping on.

"YOU WHAT!?! How could you sleep with Fluttershy? She is... Well she is Fluttershy!!"

"I don't really know..." You began telling Ice the story of the day Amy died. You could tell he had been around death himself. You saw a touch of emotion on his face.

"I'm sorry I didn't know..."

"What about you? How did you end up here?" He sighed and fiddled with his mug. After a little while he opened his mouth butstopped when Frost rejoined the table.

"Glad you could join us..." You say a little sarcastically.

"Yeah... Did I interrupt something?" Ice nodded and leaned back in his chair.

"Anyways... When I was young my dad came home just like any other day... He told mom that he gotten a promotion. I grew excited that he had been home and ran out to see him. e turned and motioned for me to jump into his amrs... I did of course... I loved my dad and I could never pass up a hug. He told me I was cold... I didn't understand at first. Mom said we shold take me to the doctor...

"We never get the chance... My parents froze to death right before my very eyes... I traveled around for a while just trying to survive on what I could find... The town I ended up in was Hayvalton..." He pause for a drink. Frost stared intently at his friend.

"Hayvalton? I've never heard of it..." You say beckoning him to continue his story.

"You never will I'm afraid... It was frozen over in a freak accident... Me... The princess wiped the memories of all the ponies that knew anything of the town, save myself. I wandered around for a few years before I found a unicorn that told me she had the answer to my problem... I had to fetch the items to do the enchantment to make the item she said would help me... That didn't bother me... What did was that I wasn't allowed to touch anything.

"After she whipped up a quick enchantment I ended up with this thing..." He lifted his hoof to show off his band. "Fern found me on the streets and took me in as her own... I've been here ever since..."

"Interesting... So you can pretty much freeze anything?" You ask.

"Yup... Pretty much... It's a curse..." Ice sighed and took another drink.

The rest of the night went by rather okay. You drank very heavily when you felt the pain grow stronger. You didn't care about what would happen as long as you didn't feel it. You blacked out after a kind gentlecolt bought a round for every pony in the bar.

'How am I goiing to get back?' That was the last thought you had before the darkness closed in on you.
