The Unexpected Saviour

My head exploded into a migraine and I opened my eyes. It was extremely bright and very blurry.

“Damn one of those sodas I had last night at the game night at my friend’s house must have been spiked with something. Hey someone turn off the lights please. It’s bright as hell in here.” I closed my eyes tightly. ‘This bed feels really stiff’

“Someone turn off the lights please. I got a headache and I’m trying to sleep.”

I heard what sounded like heels walking towards me but more earthy-stony sounding than heels.

“Who’s there?” I sat up quickly and rubbed my eyes.

No reply. . .

“When I speak, It’d be nice to get answers. . .” I was covering my eyes now, trying to see the thing towering over me. I was in a large clearing. She cast a large shadow on me so I couldn’t see her well other than the outline from the sun. I could tell, though that it looked like a person in something similar to a horse suit. Weird . . .

“What’s going on? And what, Err, who are you?”

“It’s of no consequence”

“Well I am a curious person at heart so I’ll keep asking until you tell me.”

“Ill tell you later if you decide to not leave”

“Leave? I don’t even know where I am.”

“I thought Kyle told all the people he sent over about where they are going and why. What did Kyle tell you?”

“Kyle? I don’t know a Kyle. What’s going on?”

“I hoped this hadn’t happened. . .”

“What? What happened?”

“The more you learn, the more it will hurt to delete the memories.”

“Just tell me where I am, at least? And how will you delete my memories”

“You are in the land of Equestria. The pill in your right pocket will send you back and erase your memories of being here.”

I ignored the location of the pill for a little longer. Who knows what that “return pill” would actually do to me? Sarcasm flew into my voice, plus a little nervousness.

“Oh really? Equestria? What’s next? Rainbow dash doing a sonic rainboom to celebrate my arrival and the princesses will honor me as a saint? That’s rich! Let me see what you look like you. . . I . . . you . . . but . . . whaaaaaaa. . .” my voice trailed off.

I was stunned speechless. I had thought someone had found out about my being a closet Brony and was getting at me for it. Boy was I wrong. And I was a little glad too. My secret was still relatively safe.

“What do you think now, human?” Rainbow Dash’s baby-blue horse form towered over me with a dark tone to her voice. She looked a little older and taller than the last show I had seen.

Her stunning purple eyes bored into me. I was still seated on the ground so that made me that much more nervous.

I was honestly stunned. I had actually wanted to see Equestria in person since I saw how friendly the ponies were. “This is unbelievable. . .”

“Well you better believe it” She muttered a little frustratedly, angrily even.

I didn’t notice her speak and continued. “. . . and awesome! The best part being I get picked up by the best-looking pony I know. I had always wanted to meet you all someday. ” ‘I can finally fulfill that wish,’ I thought to myself. ‘And meet my favorite pony, Rainbow Dash, which is happening right now!’ I could barely contain my excitement!

Rainbow was surprised for a second but quickly regained her composure. “So we have ourselves a knowledgeable human. I won’t have to explain as much to you then. You do know about the mane six ponies, right?”

“I guess, but I may need a refresher” I had gained a little confidence knowing my secret would be safe here. “By the way, do you have electricity and power outlets?”

“I guess, why?” ‘This human is a little confusing’ she mused to herself.

“Good. I think I have all my game stuff too. Hold on a sec.” I rummage through my backpack and check if I had all my games and systems. I had all of them, fortunately.

“Yep, I do have all my stuff. Good” I mumble to myself.

“Okayyy . . . well first you should decide which pony you will live with, and then we should head to Ponyville”

I sat down on a rock nearby and looked like I was thinking, but I was just stalling.

“I haven’t seen the show in a while so I definitely need a refresher,” I lied. It sucked lying to my favorite pony and even though I wasn’t lying when I hadn’t seen the show for a while, I had lied about needing a refresher. I researched the show on the Internet almost daily.

“Ok, the other 5 main ponies are Applejack, Fluttershy, Twilight, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie.

"Applejack is an orange earth pony with blonde hair that grows apples in her orchard and is always willing to help a pony in need. She accepts any help she can get there.

“Fluttershy is a yellow pegasus with pink hair who is really shy and loves animals. She doesn’t fly much because all her friends are animals. She lives in the forest with the animals and usually forages for her food. She doesn’t talk much early on but opens up to you in about a week or two.

“Twilight is a purple unicorn with purple, pink-streaked hair and she works at the library. She receives money from the princesses for her research. She is one of the ponies who hates humans. She accepts research help on the topic of humans and other similar topics.

“The other pony who hates humans is Rarity. She is a white pony with dark purple hair. She owns a fashion boutique and rarely asks a human to assist her but it happens sometimes. She makes beautiful pony clothes.

Pinkie pie is an all-around pink party pony. She creates the wildest parties. Although she dislikes humans, she doesn’t hate them.”

“What about you?”

“Nobody wants to live with me and nobody ever will want to choose me. I am the most hated pony in Equestria and nobody loves me”

“Well on earth, all of the closet Bronies I knew liked you the most”

‘including me’ I thought to myself, again.

“Don’t lie to me. I know everypony hates me. And don’t choose me out of pity.”

“Just so you know I am quite stubborn. . .”

“Why’d you tell me that?” she asked, her curiosity piquing.

“I’m telling you that you are my choice. Nothing's gonna change that”

She yet again looked a little surprised but maintained her composure.

“Quit trying to choose me. I don’t like pitiful ponies” she turned away a bit.

“I am choosing you out of lo- out of how much I liked your parts of the show. I wouldn’t even consider anyone else. Are you really the only one able to do a Sonic Rainboom?” I confessed and then asked.

‘sheesh, I almost said ‘love’. That was close!’

She actually looked a little proud then. “I am the only pony who can do a Sonic Rainboom other than the princesses, who don’t count because they are alicorns.”

“I definitely want you to be my choice then”

“Ok then lets head to Twilight’s house for a spell for you”

“Why? What spell?”

“Weight control. I live in cloudsdale so you need to be able to decrease your weight so you can ride up on my back and live on the cloud ground, I guess you could call it“

“Ok,” I replied a little shakily. It’s just I have a fear of falling. Oddly enough, its only when I can see the ground and it is between 15 and about 10,000 feet down. Other than that, I’m fine.

We start walking towards Ponyville, Rainbow leading because I have no idea where any town is.

-Rainbow-

When I thought of his choosing to live with me instead of any of the others while we were walking to Ponyville, I was surprised that he had chosen me. Actually I was ecstatic almost to the point of showing it.

‘No one chooses me, Rainbow Dash. Nobody ever chose me. I guess I was usually a little cold after they kept choosing other ponies instead of me,’ I thought.

I was also surprised he had called me good looking. ‘He is nice to call me the best-looking, too. Even though I don’t think so. . . and I haven’t gotten his name yet either’ I notice.

“What’s your name, human?” I ask.

“My name is Jackson,” he replied.

“Jackson. It’s a nice name”

“Thanks.” He blushed a little.

“Not many girls on earth think so. They think its lame. One girl I had dated once told me all the girls thought so, including her, and I believed her. I hadn’t asked anyone out since.”

‘I feel bad for him. Maybe I should- no! I cannot risk making Jackson leave from the stress of a break-up. Besides I don’t even know if he likes me like that. He could be the one that saves us all. And we’re going to be great friends. Not a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. Only friends.’ She steeled her nerves and glanced over at him, walking next to her, with pity in her eyes. He was staring at the ground sullenly. She looked forward again before he could notice.

‘Oh man she is so much hotter than in the show! I so want to be her boyfriend! No, no I don’t! what if she says no or doesn’t want to? I don’t even know if she will agree with that kind of thing. I’m gonna be happy as just her friend. Nothing else, just her friend. I don’t want it to end like my last relationship.’ I contemplate.

I shudder almost visibly from the memory. I look at the ground passing under my feet and notice something I couldn’t quite place. I tried to realize what it looked like.

‘Oh that’s what it is! The ground, no, everything has a slightly animated quality.’ I steal a glance and see Rainbow is also slightly animated.

‘She almost looks real but she has a slightly pixilated quality to her appearance, almost like YouTube at the 360p quality choice. It’s nice but it’s not like seeing whatever you are watching in real life.’

I told her what I noticed and she replied, “Yes, Jackson, you are correct. All things in Equestria have what you humans call ‘animation’ or ‘pixilation. Nopony from Equestria can see this ‘animation’ so they won’t know a thing about it if you ask them and/or tell them.  Some might even get offended or confused. So please don’t mention it”

“Sure, don’t worry. I’ll keep my thoughts to myself. And please don’t get offended if I start flirting with you. A guy’s gotta have something to do other than video games, sleeping and eating”

-Rainbow-

‘What does he mean by “flirt”? Is he saying he either finds ponies attractive or he likes them? I’ll have to ask him about that later. . .’

“okaaay, I guess. You are a peculiar little human aren’t you?”

He replied with pride, “Yes, yes I am!

I chuckle to myself and we keep walking towards Ponyville.
