It was the day of the annual meteor shower,where dozens of meteors fly past Equestria and,of course,burning up in the atmosphere in the process.The Mane six,Spike, (whom has fallen asleep in the punch bowl again) and a lot of the residents of Ponyville had set up camp fires and tents to wait for the meteor shower to start.
A large clear field was being used do to the amount of ponies watching tonight,since it is Friday. There was excitement all around the field,colts and fillies jumping and playing,eagerly waiting for the meteor shower.The sky was clear,the sun was setting and the meteor shower was expected to begin in a few minutes.The Mane Six had gotten there tents set up In the front row of all the other tents.
"I still can't believe ya got us the front row for the meteor shower, Rainbow!" Applejack said as everypony prepared for the arrival of the meteor shower.
"Well I am the fastest flyer In all of Equestria!" Rainbow said cheerfully.
"That is true, Rainbow,but I swear that crowd was gonna beat ya." Applejack said back,smirking slightly,knowing the blue Pegasus would boast.
"Please, it will take more than a crowd of ponies trying to get the front row to beat me! Hey Pinkie!" Rainbow yelled." Got anymore of that cake you brought?"
Pinkie,whom appeared out of nowhere, merely drops a double chocolate fudge cake and smiles before bouncing off to her tent to get...who knows what.
"Twilight Darling, when will this meteor shower start?It's starting to get cold out here!" Rarity asked shivering.
Twilight calmly says"In about two or three minutes Rarity,oh this is so exciting!Who knows!Maybe a meteor will crash near Ponyville!" The rest of the mane six stop talking and stare at Twilight with wide eyes.
"W-where nopony is near of course!".
"Well,why would want a meteor to crash near Ponyville Twilight? Um,that is,if you want to answer." Fluttershy asked quietly,but loud enough to be heard by her friends over all the other ponies around the field.
"Why to study it Fluttershy! Have you ever wondered what it could be made of,or how parts of it can survive entering our planet's atmosphere? Twilight replied excited by the prospect of studying a meteor." That is,if most of it doesn't burn up in the atmosphere."
Rainbow,rolling her eyes,states "egghead alert!" and then goes back to eating her cake.
"Look the meteor shower is starting!" shouted a random pony.
------Meanwhile------
Darknight opened his eyes to see a wonderful and horrifying sight.The wonderful sight was all the meteors falling to Equestria creating that wonderful sight I told you about,the horrifying part is that the orb is falling towards Equestria as well and seems to be losing altitude very fast!
"Oh buck,you gotta be kidding me."Darknight says,seeing doom approaching at 500 mph."well...this is gonna hurt...."
------Back at the Mane six------
The meteor shower had begun,and what an amazing sight it was!There must have been hundreds,for the now night sky was lit up as bright as day!
"Oh oh! look Twilight, there a meteor heading straight towards Canterlot!"Pinkie stated looking towards Canterlot, jumping up and down.
Pinkie's comment Instantly causes everypony on the field to stiffen,as they turn, they all see Canterlot and catch a sight of the *glowing* meteor flying towards Canterlot at wall braking speed,about to hit the Canterlot gardens that reside next to the Canterlot Palace.
"Everypony hold on!"Twilight yells as she prepared a group teleportation spell to Canterlot,which requires a lot of energy if six are teleporting,even more at a long distance.
------Canterlot------
*CRASH*
Guards,the princesses, and all the Canterlot citizens were are startled by a sudden crash by a certain orb,as it hit the Canterlot Gardens.Luna and Celestia were both shaken viciously by the sudden impact from the orb that Celestia was thrown out of her bed and Luna nearly toppled face first onto the marble floor.
Luna immediately runs towards the sound of the blast,making sure anypony she runs into Is alright and quickly healing those who aren't. while Celestia gets off the cold floor and fly's to the Gardens,where panicking guards,animals,and smoke are.
The mane six are teleported in front of the Palace. But Twilight nearly passes out from the unexpected amount of magic needed to do the spell on six ponies plus long range teleportation for each one.Being supported by Pinkie pie and Applejack ,she and the rest on the Mane Six make there way to the Canterlot gardens.
They arrive to find and a crater,the guards still confused,animal running everywhere whom Fluttershy tries to calm down with limited success, and the princesses talking to what seems to be another alicorn! As the mane six all trot up to them, Luna suddenly hugs the black-colored alicorn, whom hugs her back as they both weep tears of possibly joy.
As they continue to hug, Celestia notices and approaches the mane six.
"I know this seems weird to you all, but I will explain." Celestia turns and points at the dark alicorn.
"That is prince Darknight, Luna's son."
------Canterlot Gardens------
If a glowing meteor crashing into Canterlot and then pulling a disappearing act was confusing,an Equestrian prince,never recorded in Equestrian history, reappearing out of nowhere after 1000 years, was almost confusing as Pinkie pie's pinkie sense.
The mane six were, to say the least, shocked at the sudden revelation of a prince, never known to Equestria, had returned after a 1000 years of floating in space.
Darknight and Luna stops hugging and walk over to the shocked mane six to explain this...bizarre happening.
Darknight looked at the six Mares that were in disbelief, and he knew there would be a lot of explaining to do. He knew who they were, the element bearers, but to say that could cause further confusion and disbelief. As he looked to the entrance to the gardens, he saw a crowd of ponies had formed there, wanting to know what happened.
He looked back to his Mother, Luna, and said "Perhaps we should go inside to explain to these six mo-, Luna, about what this is all about?"
Luna looked at her son, he always never called her mom or mother whenever there was non-royalty nearby. More as a sign of respect. She smiled at him and said back,"yes, we should do so before they all have flies in there muzzles, or their jaws get stuck the way they are." Luna looked at her sister and the mane six,"sister, we will take them to the throne room to explain, while you should deal with the forming crowd over at the entrance."
Celestia nodded her head in agreement, as Luna, Darknight, and the mane six walk to the castle, Celestia turned to the now massive crowd outside the Gardens. Whom where being held back by the guards. Sighing,Celestia turned to the now crowd-sized amount of ponies.Smirking, she tells herself."Simple just say a meteor was big enough to survive going through the atmosphere and that's why a crater now sits here.Piece of cake."
If only she knew it would only cause her trouble.
------Throne room------
Luna watched as the last guard left the room,closing the door behind him, she was overjoyed that her son, her beloved son, had return after so long . Though she wondered what was taking her sister so long "probably made a bad lie and is now trying to stop a wide-spread panic" Luna thought, chuckling to herself.
The Mane six were,while waiting for Princess Celestia to show, passing the time by well...talking.
Rainbow was stating that he maybe a spy, which Applejack reminds her that she states that about a lot of ponies,and the cyan pegasus was trying to defend her reason why.Pinkie was finishing off the last off the cake,that she somehow brought with them. Fluttershy was sitting quietly,merely listing to everyponyelse,and Rarity was telling Twilight the latest dresses that she made.Which Twilight was listening to her tell,while trying not to fall asleep.
A few minutes later Celestia finally walks, rather tired looking, in.
The Mane six grow quiet quickly as Celestia walks towards her sister,asks if she Wants to tell them or should she do it,which Luna replies that she should. For she wanted to be with her son, that and Celestia remembered more about it then she did
Celestia,nodding to her sibling,tells the others," All right my little ponies,sit down, for I am about to tell you a story".After the mane six got closer and sat down,did Celestia begin the story.
"Darknight,you see,was born ten years before " glancing at her sister" the NightMareMoon incident."Luna cringed at the name of what she once was,what she let herself become."He is an alicorn,which you all know are royal or at least so far, .As for his cutie mark he got it at the age of 9,which is a night tree,meaning he can control,revive,and talk to plants."
The mane six simply stare at her, mentally begging her to go on.
Then Darknight spoke up "Of course I can't really revive or control many plants, last I checked knew, I could only control and revive the most common of plants."Celestia then continued the story/history lesson."As for his mother and father" Celestia paused, "There is one more thing I forgot to mention, I erased some information, that is not to be spoken outside this room!" Celestia said in a commanding voice.
After the mane six pinkie promised,with Twilight hitting her eye and Futtershy falling over after putting a bit too much force behind her hoof,did Celestia continue" His mother is Luna and is Father, whom is now long gone, was King Sombra."
That was it the mane six went from surprised, to curious, to dumbfounded.How could this be? Princess Luna and King Sombra were married? !Yet not one book held such information,and here Celestia is saying they once were!
Pinkiepie bounced over to princess Luna,smiling she asking"Is it true princess?Is it,is it?"
Princess Luna,whom had been watching and listening finally speaks,"Yes Pinkie,it's all true.You see, once when I and Tia visited the Crystal empire 1011 years ago,during the Crystal fair..."
-----Crystal Empire,1011 years ago-----
It was the time of year in the Crystal Empire when the Crystal fair(it's called Crystal fair right?)was being held,so that the crystal ponies could spread love and happiness across Equestria.This one was special,for the princesses where here for this Crystal fair!
"Now remember Luna where here to make sure the new king doesn't try to spread fear across Equestria,not take in the sight like were on vacation,annnnd your not listening to me are you?"
Luna was only half-listening to her older sister,half-taking in the sights." But sister we rarely get a chance like this to relax and enjoy ourselves!"
"I know,but without us Equestria would fall into chaos and destruction."Luna simply pouted,knowing a lt of work was ahead.
Celestia,seeing this,says calmly"But I don't see why we can't have some fun.After all, a boring Crystal fair could be a plot to spread chaos,no?"
Luna look up at her sister and saw her smiling, indicating she meant it and wasn't joking.Smiling back she raced, like a filly who just got everything she wanted on Heartswarming, towards the nearest stand.Celestia ,still smiling,followed her though she walk instead of running.
About a dozen games later it was time for the crystal ponies to charge up the crystal heart with their love and happiness,that is when Luna saw him,t'was like love at first sight.His grey black coat,with green eyes,and black mane.His cutie mark,however was concealed by silver armor.(A/N I'm describing him before the dark magic and what the my little pony wiki says)He seemed very happy by how the fair was going.
Celestia had seen the king too,whom was moving towards the pedestal with the crystal heart in tow.She also saw the love-like stare Luna was giving him.Snickering slightly she whispers to her"Yes he is single and you have till the next morning to sway him."
Luna,caught heavily off guard,blushes at her sisters comment."Can I have till the end of tomorrow?"Luna whispered pleadingly.
Celestia,rolling her eyes slightly,whispers back "yes,now be quiet they are about to charge the heart and it's a sight you don't want to miss."
Luna nodded and they both turned back just in time to see the heart be charged and the lights to be spread across Equestra,bringing love happiness.Luna,however,wasn't watch the lights.She was watch the king,and oh how she just wanted to go to him and confess her love!Yet see barely knew him,she didn't even know his name!
Wait,Tia doesn't know his name either!Luna said mentally to herself.Sensing an opportunity ,she turned and asked her,"Sister we can't return to the castle without knowing the king's name right?"
Celestia saw what her sister meant,the historians would be nagging her to death for not having the king of the Crystal Empire's name! She also saw it was a way for her sister to try and,no doubt,make the king fall for her.Smiling,she replied"yes sister,we simply can't have the historians complaining to us for not having his name.Let's go meet him before he leaves,shall we?"
Celestia and Luna both turned to walk to the king,whom was talking to one of the crystal ponies,when they reached him,Celestia felt a slight tug on her tail,turned to see what caused it,and found that here sister was somewhat hiding,blushing,and stepping on her tail.
Ohhhhh,I'm gonna get a lot of fun outta this.Celestia said mentally,with a smirk forming on her lips.
"Hello there Crystal king I don't believe we've met,I am princess Celestia and this is my sister-"
"P-princess Luna your highness"Luna had manage to respond before her sister introduced her.
The king smiled,two of his front teeth were fang shaped,giving him a kind of a wolfish smile."I am king Sombra,but since we are all royal,I believe we don't have to call each other by our titles,no?"
Both Celestia and Luna nodded there heads,causing Sombra's smile to grow."Excellent!Come,let me show you around the Crystal Palace."
---A few minutes later---
"And this is the throne room!"Sombra said as the doors to the crystal throne room open.
It was about half way up the palace and,of course,made of crystal.Celestia look at Luna whom was stealing a glance at Sombra,whom was walking to the throne,and said"Thank you,Sombra, for showing us the palace but I believe it's time for me to lower the sun and turn in.Sister please try not to stay up all night,It would be embarrassing to carry you out of the palace to the chariot tomorrow, ok?"
Luna turn to Celestia and said "Ok Tia I won't stay up to long."As Celestia smiled and left the room, Luna couldn't help but think that she was alone,with Sombra. Her heart began to race and a slight blush formed on her cheeks.Luna felt the sudden urge to raise the moon,meaning the sun was being set by her sister.
So Luna began to raise the moon,a simple task.Once she was finished,she heard Sombra say,"I always liked the night,because,I'd be able to hide in shadows and feel safe,protected,like nothing could see me nor hurt me.The stars only add to it,with the silver moon,making the night look wonderful."
This caused a blush to form on Luna's checks,only Tia had commented on her night!Now the one she has a crush on had too!
"R-really?"Luna asked, the blush never fading and wings slightly unfurled.
"Yes"Sombra simply replied,staring at the night sky,unaware of the alicorn's blush.
" S-Sombra?"Luna asked"would you um...perhaps g-go onadatewithme?"
Sombra turned to Luna,now aware of a continually reddening blush on her cheeks and her unfurled wings, ask"What? I couldn't understand the last few words."Luna spoke too quietly for him to hear this time however."please speak up Luna."
Luna spoke quietly still but enough for him to hear"I said would you g-go on a date with m-me?"
Sombra was surprised,this was the first day they met and already she wanted to go out with him!?She is either pulling my leg or serious,Sombra said mentally,perhaps she is a victim of love at first sight?One part of Sombra said to tell her no,another said to tell her yes.But he was unsure of which one to listen to.Perhaps I will give her a chance,she is rather cute,especially when she's blushing.
Realizing the Alicorn was waiting for an answer,with possible tears forming,Sombra replied "I suppose so."
That simple answer was all she needed for her heart to leap with joy!
"So where shall we go Luna?
And that caused her joy to crash,where would they go for a date?It had to be tonight!For she left tomorrow afternoon!
Sombra watched a the alicorn tried to figure out where they should go for there date.Laughing silently,he spoke up a suggestion."how about we go out and eat some dinner?We never got to eat due to the fair and all"
Luna,startled by Sombra,nodded her head quickly.
"Great!There is a good restaurant near here that should still be open."
About two or three minutes later,Sombra and Luna arrive at the restaurant,which was named The Crystal Café,after going inside and being seated by a waiter,they began to order.The waiter that sat them down came back a few minutes later to take their orders.He was a grey earth pony,with a black mane,hazel eyes,and his cutie mark is a plate with food on it.
"Hello i'm Quick Serve, and i'll be your waiter for tonight."He had a deep voice,but sounded friendly.
"we'll have the daffodil sandwich and hay fries."Sombra said to Quick.
"Of course mr...?"
"Sombra,King Sombra"
Quick was nearly put into shock.King Smobra was right in front of him,and was on a date no less!"O-oh!Of course King Sombra!Right away!"Quick stated,and nearly losing his balance on his was to the kitchen.
"So Sombra,how did you like the fair?"Luna asked,trying to start a conversation.
"Oh,well,It was fun for sure.But the last ruler,our Queen,held such better ones than the one today."
"This was my first Crystal fair,and I must say,It was very fun indeed!"
Luna and Sombra continued to talk for about another two minutes,when Quick returned with their food.Luna wondered though,could she use the moon's rays to make her look more attractive?Yes,perhaps she could!As long as she only moves the rays a little, it shouldn't cause a change in the light that they cause around the world.
Sombra was,meanwhile,have a battle between his heart,and his mind.One side said she was the one,another said to keep looking and that she wasn't worth it.When he look up at the alicorn once again,he noticed a change in the light on her.The moon's rays bounced off her,giving her an attractive look.Luna noticed him staring and wink a him,causing Sombra's cheeks to light up slightly.
About 5 to 7 minutes later,they had finished dinner,payed the check,and headed back to the Crystal Palace.
Luna was worried though,it seem that Sombra wasn't falling for him!She was out of time,and it was time to see if Sombra was falling for her or not.So Luna attempted to ask him.....
"Um Sombra? Do,ummmm,ohhhhh I don't know how to tell him!" Luna said to herself
.........annnnnnnnd couldn't ask him at all.Every time she tried,She got tounge tied half-way though her question.
Finally Sombra turned to her and ask "What is it Luna?I can't understand half the words you are saying."
That when Luna blurted it out,maybe a bit loud,"W-will you be my c-coltfriend?!"
"So that was the question she had on her mind all the way back."Sombra said to himself.*sigh*"I don't know if I want to or not! One part of me wants too,the other doesn't! What should I do?"
"S-sombra?"
Sombra turned to find the blue alicorn in tears.She thought he didn't want to be her coltfriend and was trying to find a way to tell her nicely!
Sombra however,finally reached a conclusion.
He went up to the alicorn,looked her in the eyes,and kissed her passionately.
Luna didn't know what to do.Her brain locked up,her heart was racing,and Sombra was kissing her! Wait,Sombra was kissing her! He was saying yes! She leaned in to deepen the kiss.
A few seconds later they broke,gasping for breath.
"So,I t-take that a y-yes?"Luna asked,still gasping slightly.
"Yes Luna,I will be your coltfriend. "Sombra said,gasping slightly as well.
Little did they know of a white alicorn watching the whole thing.
"Oh Lulu,I'm gonna use this to tease you to Tartus! "Celestia said,with a wide grin on her muzzle.
-----Canterlot Palace Throne room, Present-----
"What happened then?"Rarity asked,while a box of tissues with her magic.
"Well, then me and Tia went back to the Castle of the Two Sisters, which you all know is in the EverFree forest, from time to time I got to see Sombra,then on the last month 1011 years ago we married! We had Darknight a few months later.We decided that he should stay at the Castle with me and Tia. But then,Sombra he-"
That was it,Luna stopped talking and started crying, Darknight moved closer to his mother to comfort her while Celestia told the rest of the story.
"Sombra began to dabble in dark magic,claiming he was being careful, but he wasn't. The dark magic consumed him and me and Luna had to banish him,as you know. This happen three months before Luna became NightMareMoon. When she did,that was when I sent Darknight away."
