The Legend of the Mind Unicorns.
Holly, Price, Applebloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo were playing at the place were the great lunch was being prepared to feed the ponies at the Summer Sun Celebration eve.
“You can’t catch me!” Price shouted when he tried to fly by jumping and flapping his wings, but he fell like a stone “UHF!”.
The girls laughed at his attempt to fly and he stood up with a smile while blushing.
“Worth a try brother…” Holly told him.
“It wasn’t so bad girls!” she said and that made Price blush and the fillies noticed.
“Price and Sweetie, sitting near the river, kissing!” Scootaloo started to sing and soon Applebloom and Holly followed her.
“Stop that!” he shouted, but they didn’t did it, Sweetie was quiet, but blushing.
A laugh was heard and the three fillies stopped when they saw Dark Knight approaching.
“Don’t mind me, continue!” he said between a laugh.
“Dad!” Price and Holly said at the said time and gave their father a hug.
“Hello my little crusaders!” he looked at the other three fillies and smiled again “And what about you three? Come on and give me a hug!”;.
The three crusaders smiled and jumped towards him making him fall on the ground. The impact made his mechanical leg broke the floor.
“Oops!” he said “I always do that… Crackers!”.
The five crusaders helped him to stand and only then they noticed that he wasn’t wearing his red armor.
“Where is your armor Knight?” Scootaloo asked.
Knight looked over his shoulder and laughed.
“Oh that!” he said “I forgot that was ‘cleaning-clothes-day’ for Emerald and she insisted.”.
The little ponies made an affirmative “Ooh!”.
“I always forget these things!” Knight told them “Silly me!”.
Sweetie smiled at the dark-grey stallion.
“You should ask Twilight for a memory spell!” she told him “Maybe she’ll know about one!”.
Knight smiled, but he was more concerned then happy. And Applebloom noticed.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
Knight looked at their concerned faces and smiled again.
“Sit down you five.” He asked “I’m going to tell you a story.”.
“YEAH!” the five crusaders hopped and cheered.
“I love your stories Knight!” Scootaloo told him.
“Yeah dad!” Price said while he sat down.
The five crusaders sat down and looked at him with bright adoring eyes.
“Well this story isn’t about me.” He told them while he sat down “My mother told it to me. It’s a legend of the Mind Unicorns!”.
“‘Mind Unicorns’?” Holly asked.
“I never heard of them .” Applebloom said.
Knight smiled.
“The legend says:
At the very beginning of Celestia’s reign, the first year to be precise, two Empires were already strong: The Crystal Empire and the Memory Empire.
The second one was at where is today the western Equestria. It was an Empire made only by Unicorns. They were powerful and wise and they could use memory spells, one of the most rare kind of spell.
But they couldn’t control such a massive power inside them. Then they found a solution, to create some sort of artifact that would restrain that power and would allow them to use it and do not take any risk.
So they summoned the greatest Mind Unicorns of their Empire and between them there were two Unicorns that were so powerful that even their queen feared: Thunder Weave, the Dreamer, and Chaos Blade, the Chaotic Memory.
The two of them were ‘Highborn’, how the Mind Unicorns called the ones which were born with their horns glowing with tremendous silver glow and that meant that the Highborns were skilled and powerful magicians.
They agreed that the power needed to be restrained and Thunder Weave designed an artifact that looked like an spider web and that had sixteen points that would hold powerful spells that would hold all the other spells inside the center seal of the ‘Web’.
And as said they constructed the ‘Web’. A massive crystal with an orb that would hold the spells. The orb was fabricated by Chaos Blade who made sure that the orb was stable and strong enough.
Then with all the Mind Unicorns they released their magic inside the ‘Web’ and folded all of it without any problem.
“This day will be remembered!” the Queen told them “The day that our kind found our salvation in the ‘Web’! A chamber will be constructed to house it!”.
And they did it. The crystal was a massive bluish gray construction with the red orb in its center and glowing with silver light. Its chamber was on the fourth magic-suspended-bridge that was connected to the great Scarlet Palace.
From that day forward the Mind Unicorns were free from their burden, but the power that the ‘Web’ emanated was tempting and corruptible. And reached the heart of one Unicorn: Chaos Blade.
One day he stopped imagining what he could achieve with those magnificent powers and went to the ‘Web’ Chamber, but there he found Thunder Weave.
“What you are doing here brother?” Thunder asked the black Unicorn.
“I could ask you the same…” Chaos replied the white Unicorn “This power is magnificent, isn’t it?”.
Thunder turned towards him with a serious expression.
“You can’t have it…” he told Chaos “No pony can have this power to themselves… It’s too dangerous…”.
A red beam hit the white unicorn and knocked him out.
“You can’t stop me now, can you?” he laughed, but he suddenly stopped when he heard some pony gasp behind him. He turned to see the Queen of the memory Empire.
Her yellow hair, golden eyes behind the bluish gray mask and wine colored skin always made him nervous, but she had a terrified expression.
“Chaos, what are you doing?” she asked and he smiled.
“It is what I have to do my beautiful queen…” he told her “The ‘Web’ must be mine… Only then I can be powerful enough to have you and to have all the world around me! Oh and to defeat my ‘brother’ here…”.
A blue magical fist hit Chaos and threw him some meters away from the Queen. When they looked to the other direction they saw Thunder.
He had something around his left front leg, a golden armlet with a blue diamond crusted in it. The Queen noticed that Chaos also had one, but his was silver colored and had a red diamond.
“So… you did it too…” Chaos raised his head with a sadistic smile “You conjured the Memory Channeling spell…”.
The Queen looked at Thunder.
“You did it?” she asked “Thunder my love?”.
Chaos laughed.
“Of course he did!” he shouted “He wished power more than me! And he already had you!”.
“It was the only way to stop you since you did it as well…” Thunder told him “I’m sorry my Queen, but your most feared prevision will become true today… All the Nightmares against all the Dreams…”.
Chaos’s horn glowed red and at the same time Thunder’s glowed blue.
“This ends now ‘Brother’!” Chaos shouted and released his magic, but Thunder did the same
and both collided making a purple glow where both magic’s touched.
Six huge blue fists appeared and with them six red blades and they started to fight as well while the two unicorns concentrated the most in their laser beams.
The Queen noticed that around them strange lights and shapes were appearing. Then it hit her that they were Highborns with the ancient power of the Memory Channeling spell at their disposal. Reality was about to be torn apart if didn’t do something.
“I can’t let the ‘Web’ get lose, or worse… Let Chaos have it…” she told herself “It can’t exist anymore… We can’t exist…”.
Her horn glowed red and she shot a beam of energy at the great artifact. It started to shrink and Chaos Blade noticed.
“YOU TRAITOR!” he shouted directing one of his blades towards her, but it didn’t hit her.
Thunder launched himself in front of her and the blade pierced his shoulder and he screamed in pain.
“Thunder!” the queen cried with the vision of Thunder’s blood dripping.
“C-Continued your majesty…” he told her “It’s the only way, or Chaos will consume it…”.
She continued the spell, and her eyes were full with tears. Thunder continued still in front of her and continued to get cut and stabbed by Chaos magical blades.
“You can’t stop me ‘brother’!” Chaos shouted while running towards them “I’ll be a GOD!”.
Thunder got up and looked at Chaos. His face was red, because the blood was all over his body.
“This world can’t have a All Powerful God…” he said “No pony can have this amount of power… I’ll stop you… No matter what it takes”.
Thunder’s horn glowed silver and a sphere of magic appeared around him and another around Chaos as well.
“Thunder?” the queen called and he just turned to her with a smile.
“YOU ARE CRAZY!” Chaos shouted.
“Memories so different…” Thunder said “In opinions and experiences, together shall stay…”.
“STOP!” the queen and Chaos shouted at the same time.
“Forever united ‘BROTHER’!” he finished.
The shapes levitated and started to change colors. Thunder’s sphere turned blue and Chaos’s turned red and where they touched a purple light appeared.
“BASTARD!” Chaos screamed “YOU KILLED US ALL!”.
Thunder turned towards the queen and smiled while Chaos kicking inside of his sphere.
“Why Thunder?” she asked with tears coming out of her eyes.
“It was the only way…” he told her “No pony can have this power… Or else… Well, bad things will happen…”.
She tried to approach, but the sphere wouldn’t allow her to touch him.
“You’ll survive…” he told her “And we’ll see each other again… Though I’ll not be myself anymore…”.
“Thunder I…” she tried, but didn’t have the time.
“Memory Fusion spell, activate!” he shouted and the spheres fused turning into a light-blue sphere with just a bluish grey Unicorn.
Everything exploded with a light-blue energy that flooded the whole world, but the only thing that vanished was the Memory Empire and no pony seemed to remember them, they just thought it was a pony-tale.
“What about the queen? She survived?” Holly asked with those bright impressed eyes.
“No pony knows…” Knight told them “But it’s just a story with a lesson, which is?”.
“If you wish power other ponies may suffer?” Sweetie tried.
“Well done!” Knight congratulated her “Now you five go and play! I’ve to help with the preparations.”.
“Thanks for the awesome story!” the five crusaders thanked him.
“Remember the lesson OK?” Knight asked and they nodded.
The crusaders continued to play after that story, but their little minds didn’t stop to think about it. And believed in the Memory Empire.
