There are many who assume that whenever darkness threatens the world, light will rise to fight it. But there are times when light becomes smothered, when even the brightest heroes are not enough to resist the shadows. In times such as these the darkness must be fought by another kind of darkness. Shadow must be faced with shadow. Fire must be faced with fire…

A plan is set into motion, one that promises death and devastation to all of Equestria. As has always been so, heroes will rise to fight this new darkness. They will come, not from the vast ranks of ponykind's vast kingdom, but rather from their kin that should not be. Heroes will rise from amongst the ranks of a people once cursed, shunned, and despised. At the head of this people will rise a king from another world, once crippled by a curse of his own, and a queen once broken and defeated. From the nation of the Black Sun and Pale Star, heroes will rise…and evil will learn to fear the darkness.
