Chapter 1 : Visit the orphanage
It was a pretty warm day for the beginning of the winter. Scootaloo was practicing with her scooter. Earlier today she and Rainbow dash where watching a Wonderbolts peformance. And after that they went to Scootaloo's flight lessons. Ever since the camping incident , Rainbow dash had been giving her flight lessons and exercises. Rainbow dash had asked if Scootaloo's parents where ok with that. Scootaloo face twisted as Rainbow dash said 'parents' ... since she lives in a orphanage , but she never told anyone besides the CMC. All her friends think Scootaloo lives with her parents. But her parents died 3 years ago. She has been living in an orphanage ever since. "Hey Scootaloo !" Rainbow Dash landed next to her on the ground. "Hey Rainbow Dash!" Rainbow dash grinned by seeing a lot of broken things on the ground. what must be a sign for something like : Scootaloo has been practicing a new trick and it doesn't work out very well. "Hey Scootaloo i was wondering , if your parents don't mind all those flight lessons. Maybe I can meet them. You know in fact they don't trust it?" Scootaloo's felt like her heart was being crushed by a rock "You ... eh want to m-meet my p-parents?" She was able to bring out. "Yeah , I have to admit , I'm pretty curious about your family , you know . you have met mine but I havent met yours" Scootaaloo remembers the day she met Rainbow dash's family. Her mother was totally not like Rainbow dash. Scootaloo thouht about how Rainbow's mother complained about every single mud stain she saw in Dash's house. Her father though was exactly like Ranbow dash . Exept for the fact that he doesn't look like her , but the're personalitlies are the same. "Um well o-off course You can meet them , no problem at all " Rainbow dash didn't seem to believe "Scootaloo is everything ok ? " "Y-yes , oh it's getting late I reeaally should go ... uh , home before my *gasp* Mother gets angry" And Scootaloo ran off. Rainbow watched her "Was Scootaloo ..... lying to me?" And she went to Sweet Apple Acres. Sometimes Rainbow dash helped applejack out on the farm. After Applejack got so frustrated previous applebuck season Rainbow Dash promised her to help her out with bucking the trees. "Well howdy , rainbow dash , how ya doin" Applejack appeared behind her "Hay Applejack , uh I was wondering , is Applebloom here? " "Yeah sure she is , why you wanna know?" "Well since applebloom is part of the CMC" "Wait a minute , you want information bout Scootaloo don,t ya?" "Is it that clear" "Maybe a bit , but watta you wanna know , maybe I can find out for ya" "I get the idea Scootaloo is not being truthfull to me about her family" "All right got it , I'll ask Applebloom for ya " "I don't think it's going to be that easy, you know they are all keeping secrets together right " "sure I do , But she ain't gonna keep any secrets from me , I'll find out Rainbow i promise " "Thank you , applejack " and she flew away.
After Rainbow dash was gone Applejack started looking for her sister. But she couldn't find applebloom "where in tarnation could that filly be?" After searching everywhere around Sweet Apple Acres she came across Big McIntosch "Oh goodness Big mac , Have you seen applebloom i've been lookin for her everywhere" "Have you tried the CMC clubhouse? " "No actually not , maybe I should , thx big brother"
When she arrived at the place where the CMC clubhouse was she saw Scootaloo and Sweetie belle standing outside. So Applejack hid behind a tree till they where inside. "I'm sorry little sis , but im gonna have to eavesdrop" Applejack always taught Applebloom that eavesdropping is something that you just cannot do , and she was about to do the thing she taught her sister NOT to do. She walked slowly upstairs to prevent the crusaders from hearing her. then she listened to the coversation. applebloom was there too. "You did WHAT!!!!" "I-I-I just didn't know what I had to say to Rainbow" "Scootaloo , you know that Rainbow dash CAN'T meet your parents" "Yes I know I know but I-I just couldn't say no" "Well you promised Rainbow dash that she'd meet parents that don't exist , WHAT DO YOU THINK WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF SHE FINDS OUT HERSELF!!!!!!" "Keep it calm Sweetie Belle we just have to come up with an idea" "Scootaloo can't your other realtives help?" "No Applebloom they left me when my parents died , they left me in that orphanage because they didn't want me in their family , they will NEVER help me"
Applejack heard enough , but she wasn't sure if she would tell Rainbow dash about this. Applejack went back home thinking of ways to help Scootaloo , but she couldn't come up with something.
The next day
Scootaloo was preparing to go to school. Flowery , one of the mares that worked at the orphanage came checking on her "Good morning Scootaloo , how are you doing today? " Scootaloo felt sick. but she didn't want to stay here so she said "I feel fine , have you seen my scooter? " "Yes I have it's in the garage , although I still don't get how you could forget it in the luch hall " " oh yeah....... well thank you anyway"
She grabbed her scooter out of the garage and went to school. On the way she met up with Sweetie belle
"Is everything alright Scootaloo you look pretty pale?" "Yes I'm fine " Scootaloo parked her scooter against the wall. Then they went inside the classroom , they where the first ones , in exeption for miss Cheerilee "Good morning Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle" "Goodmorning miss Cheerilee" They both said. Scootaloo's desk was one of the closest to Miss Cheerilee,s 'teacher desk'
"Well goodmorning miss Cheerilee" Scootaloo heard a familiar voice that made her day look even worse already , Diamond Tiara's desk was next to Scootaloo's and she keeps doing things to make Scootaloo's schoollife harder than the life she had in the orphanage , the worst thing was : Diamond Tiara's father owned the orphanage so Diamond Tiara knew that Scootaloo was an orphan. Diamond sat at her desk , and soon everypony was there. Miss Cheerilee started with an announcement "Good morning everypony , Before we start with our regular school shedule I want to make you aware that it is 'bring your family to school day' tomorow so I'd like to see everypony's relatives he or she chose to take with him or her" Scootaloo felt like there was no oxygen in the room. Everypony was going to take their relatives to school tomorrow , everypony exept for her since she didn't have any family. She heard Diamond giggling next to her
"Uhm miss Cheerilee , if I may ask . What if you don't bring your family with you " "well , as long as you have family is it kind of required to bring them along " "And what if you don't have any family to bring along ? " Scootaloo felt like she could tear Diamond Tiara's hooves of any moment" Well I don't expect that there is anypony in this class who doesn't have any relatives , so I can't really say " Scootaloo couldn't tale it anymore. she has been in this class for tree years and never was there such a thing as 'bring you family to school day' without thinking she ran out of the classroom , out of school , out of town , she ran towards a little lake near the everfree forest. she came there whenever the family matters where too much for her. Scootaloo couldn't hold her crying and the tears flowed down her cheeks , she couldn't stop herself , she didn,t WANT to stop herself.
Rainbow dash was up early this morning. she couldn't stop thinking about Scootaloo , Scootaloo was like the little sister she never had. But why was Scootaloo hiding something from her ? Scootaloo knows she can trust her. she couldn't help it and wanted to know what Applejack could get out of Applebloom. On her way to Sweet Apple Acres she saw Scootaloo running across the streets , what was pretty weird since she was supposed to be at school. Rainbow followed her and saw her stopping by a lake. Rainbow dash wanted to get closer but when she saw Scootaloo crying she wasn't sure if it was a good idea to interrupt. Maybe she wanted to be alone. Dash couldn't supress her sisterly instinct and walked towards Scootaloo
Scootaloo was crying. she felt like a crybaby. Maybe she could get her cutie mark in crying.
Suddely she felt a hoof on her schoulder "Hey Scootaloo , is everything ok?" she heard Rainbow dash saying , it was not the tone she was used to with dash. It was definantly Rainbow dash but she sounded so...... Caring. Scootaloo looked up to see Rainbow dash looking at her with so much concern in her eyes , like a mother or a ... big sister who was worried about her. Scootaloo knew this was the right moment to tell the truth "No Rainbow dash , I-I have to tell you something" "Does it have to do with the fact that you're crying?" "yes, i haven't been really honest to you about my parents, i told you that you could meet them , but the fact is , that - that...... my parent are already dead for three years. I live in an orphange and my family abandoned me, The reason I am crying is because , It was too much to handle. Miss cheerilee told us this morning that whe are going to have a 'Bring your family to school day' And then .... and then" She felt somepony patting her head "shhhh , Scootaloo it's ok . I'm not mad at you. Now I hear your story like this I think you've been pretty lonely before you met the CMC weren't you?" " Y-yes I was" "There is one thing you could do for me" "what is it ? " I would like to see which orphange you're in" "I kind of owe you that favor"
Scootaloo stood up and Rainbow dash swept the tears of her cheeks "Come on , you're a strong filly ,I know you can handle this without tears" " You do " "yes of course i do " Scootaloo started walking in the direction of the orphanage.
20 minutes later
"There it is" Scootaloo stopped near a huge grey building. It really looked like the 'average' orphanage. "The people who work here are really friendly , well exept the caretaker , he is never friendly" "Good to know " They walked in Flowery was behind the desk. Flowery looked up as they walked in "Scootaloo ? aren't you supposed to be at school" It took a while to notice Rainbow dash "Uhm Flowery can I go to my room ayway " "Well I suppose you'remnot planning on going back to school are you?" "Not today , and not tomorrow" Scootaloo led Rainbow dash to her room. It was a little room with some wonderbolt posters scooterparts a bed a closet and one window. "You have lived in this room for tree years!!!" Rainbow dash seemed not really comfortable with the idea that there are ponies who have to live in such tiny rooms.
and there she stood , in Scootaloo's 'living' .It was really tiny , a pony with claustrophobia would have been insane after 2 whole minutes in this room. Than she had an idea. an idea to get Scootaloo out of here , make her have a better life and .... gain her family. "Miss flowery was it ? " "yes?" "Can I ask you something? " "Of course , Scootaloo stay in your room untill i'm done ""ok..." Flowery took her to the corridor "What do you want to ask? " "Is there a way to ..... uhm kinda .. adopt Scootaloo as a little sister?" Flowery looked at Rainbow Dash with full suprise " Are you serious , oh my , that would make her so happy " "So , it is possible " "yes , yes it is , are you familliar with filling in forms?" " Not really , but I still want it" "You don't know how happy Scootaloo would be , she is the only one who has been here for so long " "All her friends from when she came in , were already adopted a year of 2 ago" Rainbow dash thought about how cruel it must have been for Scootaloo , to live in this orphanage for 3 years "doesn't she have other relatives ? " "Well yes she does , but they where clear with their way of saying that they didn't want Scootaloo" "What EXACLY did they say ? " "When they brought her here they said : We refuse to care for such useless un-talented and dumb fake-pegasus , take her out of our eyes" Rainbow Dash didn't know what she heard "They said that !!!! " "yes , and the worst thing was ...... They said it right in Scootaloo's face " Rainbow dash felt anger deep anger inside her "Get those forms , I want to take her away as quickly as possible " Flowery smiled at Rainbow dash "I truly thank you for your care about her " " she is like a little sister to me flowery I won't let her live like this any longer " " I understand , I,m getting the forms"
another 10 minutes later
Scootaloo felt so tired. But she didn't want to fall asleep in case Rainbow dash returns. she heard a knock on the door "Scootaloo , prepare your possesions , you will leave the orphanage" Scootaloo didn't understand , did this mean that . somepony adopted her "Uhm Flowery , have I just been " "...Adopted , yes that's right , you can go to you new home. Together with your new 'sister' " "rainbow stepped into the room "You ready Scoot" she said with a bright smile "Rainbow dash... did you.... I mean ..." Scootaloo was so happy she ran towards Rainbow dash and hugged her " Hey it's ok Scootaloo , just get your stuff and were outta here" Scootaloo started to put everything that belonged to her in a bag (including the posters) And off course , her scooter.
And there she was on the way to Rainbow dash's house , and this time she could call it her house. And she lives there together with her big sister.
