One - Welcome to Trotswold
You raise the laminated card to your face, squinting to make out the printed letters that read;
Room 129
Block B
Floor 2
You slide the card into your back pocket and lift your two heavy, black suitcases. You take a few cautious steps towards the gate, attempting to gain balance. Once confident, you walk through the double metal gates and towards the main entrance of the grand boarding school.
You stumble through the main entrance to the reception area and take your time to examine the lavishly designed room. It is a reasonably large, with white marble flooring and white washed smooth stone walls. A large chandelier hangs from the off-white ceiling. There is a small, unlit fire place position on one side of the room with a red Persian rug just in front of it. Three red fabric chairs with wooden legs surround the rug and a variety of potted plants fill the empty areas in the room. Opposite to the fireplace, is a reception desk, made of polished wood that corners off the section of the room. The only way in, or out, of the reception area is through a tight gap, which you don’t plan on going through anytime soon. Behind the desk is a large, plastic filing cabinet. The desk itself is a mess of paper clips, sticky notes and piles of thin paper. Coffee stains sprawl across the desk.
A young woman, in her 20’s and rather slender, taps frantically on a keyboard, in between scribbling notes down on a small notepad. Her hair is a light brown with blond highlights run down her neck. Her face is covered in makeup and she emits the overpowering smell of cheap perfume. She has a grey pencil skirts and an equally grey business jacket with a white blouse underneath it.
You sigh loudly and make your way towards her. You reach the desk and put your bags down and lean on the desk.
…
She doesn’t seem to notice you. You cough loudly and she raises her head slightly from the keyboard. She gives you a onceover before turning her head back down to her computer.
What the…?
“Excuse me?” You ask, slightly annoyed.
She looks up and again and stares at you for a few seconds. She says nothing. You say nothing.
“…Yes?” She asks, tilting her head to one side.
“I’m new here, I was wonderi—“ You don’t have time to finish your sentence.
“Mmmm, yes. You must be…” She mumbles your name and you nod in response.
She taps on her computer and looks up at you and smiles, revealing a set of pearly white teeth.
“You know where your room is?” She questions.
You shake your head in response.
She sighs and rolls her eyes before behind down and picking up a small, folded map of the school. She unravels it and lays it out on the desk.
“We are here,” She says, pointing at a small box and the front of the school, “And your dorm is here.”
You follow her finger to a square on the map; it’s clearly bigger than the reception area but doesn’t seem to be too far away from it. She hands you a pair of keys. You nod and thank her for your help before taking the map and folding it up. She smiles pathetically before lowering her head again. You lift your bags again and make your way to the double doors.
Outside the reception area is a large, circular space with a fountain in the middle of it. It is surrounded by four large buildings, all different sizes. A wide path leads around the back of one of the buildings and leads to the blocks. The entire area is empty and you raise your wrist to your face.
9:47 am. I bet most people are in class.
You wander down the path towards the blocks and inspect each building for its letter. Your block is only a few feet away from the start of the long path. The blocks aren’t actually blocks. The buildings are connected together and reached along the entire path, ending at the sports track. The only thing that really defines the blocks from each other are the entrances and letters next to them. Each door has a different symbol above them. In total, there are six blocks, each with their own separate symbol.
Your reach your block and push the door open, the powerful blast of the air conditioning flows over your body. The main area of the block is designed in the same way as the reception area, just bigger and a few more seats scattered around the place instead of the desk. At the far end of the room is a lift and a flight of stairs is immediately to the right. You drag your bags to the lift and push the button, making it illuminate.
Fancy.
You wait for a few seconds before the satisfying ding and the slide of the doors reveals the lift. You walk in and press the button, two. The doors slide shut. The lift jerks up, causing you to lose your balance and stumble forwards against the door.
“Floor two. Block B.” A female voice announces as the doors ping open.
You step out and look down the corridor. The walls are cream and the carpet is a dull brown. You begin to walk down the hall, checking the numbers on each door.
120… 123… 127...
You stop in front of your door and knock lightly. No reply. You raise the key to the lock and slide it in. You pause for a moment before turning the key and pushing the door open. Empty. There are two beds, both with neatly folded bed sheets on. The bed on the right of the room has a small desk next to it with a small watch and a ‘Daring Doo’ book, with a small piece of torn paper sticking from the top of it, on.
The bed on the left has a set of folded uniform on it with a small greeting note. You drag your bags in and leave them next to door and walk towards the bed. You lift the card up and open it.

“Well isn’t that sweet.” You mumble to yourself before throwing the card towards the bin. You lift the neat uniform off of the bed and move them to the closet.
9:59 am. Time sure does fly when you’re having fun.
You laugh quietly to yourself and smile before yawing loudly. You decide to have a nap until your roommate came back. Please don’t let him be a complete dick. You climb into bed and drift off to sleep.
You hear the door creak open and you attempt to crack your eyelid open but fail and resort to shifting in your bed.
Maybe a few more minutes…
You hear the faint clicking of gears and manage to peel one of your eyelid apart. The entire room is blurry, but you can see just enough to make out the faint outline of a tall figure. Something above their head begins to glow and they turn away from the mechanical object, which you are unable to define.
Loud music erupts around the room and your entire body shivers with fear. You lurch forward, throwing the covers into the air.
“Welcome to Trotswold!” He screams over the music.
Wait...
You stare in disbelief at the figure standing in front of you.
This school is mixed sex? What the fuck is this shit!?
You continue to stare at the figure standing opposite to you. You blink a few times.
Yup. I was right.
The girl standing in front of you was about 5” 10. Lean body build with pale white skin. Her hair was blue with a thick line of vivid cyan parting the blue into two sides of her head. She wears large, tinted sunglasses and a large smile is riddled on her face. She wore a black t-shirt with a music note in the middle of it. Waves of green cross over the music note. She has tight, ripped jeans on and her high tops rest next to the door.
She drops her back to the floor and turns the music down slightly. The speakers are huge it spreads across the side of the wall next to her bed.
How didn’t I notice that!?
She flops onto her bed. She stares at the ceiling for a while before sitting up, picking up her phone.
Could this be anymore awkward?
Yes. Yes it can be.
A loud knock on the door is barely audible over the sound of the music. The door is flung open and a furious looking girl stampedes into the room and turns the music off. She turns, her face burning with anger.
She’s wearing the schools uniform; a pleated skirt with a black blazer and a white polo. The blazer had a small, stitched badge of the school; the school itself, half of it in darkness, shrouded by the moon, the over half in the light of the sun. On her sleeve is a black orchestral music note. For some reason, she has a bow tie firmly fastened around her neck.
“Vinyl! What did I say about turning your God forsaken music up so loud!?” She screams furiously, walking over to the girl, whose name was apparently Vinyl.
Her ass was right in your face and you blush furiously.
Vinyl raises her sunglasses and smiles.
“Hey Tavy, have you met my new roommate?” She asks, ignoring her question and pointing towards you.
‘Tavy’ entire body freezes and she slowly turns towards you. She scratches the back of her neck and laughs awkwardly.
You stare at her for a few, awkward induced silent seconds before you decide to introduce her.
“Well… I’m-“
Let the bass cannon kick it!
“VINYL!” ‘Tavy’ screamed at the top of her voice.
Vinyl howls with laughter as she turns the music off again.
“Well, anyway… I’m Octavia and I’m sure you’ve met this… menace to music… Vinyl.” Octavia introduces herself and shudders at the mention of Vinyl’s name.
Octavia brushes herself off and returns to her confident manner.
“Anyway… I must be going, the orchestra can’t start without me.” Octavia says, walking towards the door.
She exits the door, but leaves it wide open. Vinyl tuts loudly and her horn lights with magic and slams the door shut.
Great.
Well, I’m partnered with someone who likes her music and can use magic.
You’d always envied the those who were gifted with flight or magic, but you, yourself, seemed to excel at physical activities.
“Fuck my life.” You whisper.
Trotswold Boarding School
You must have dozed off after that… traumatising experience. You shift uncomfortably in the tight sheets as you attempt to pull yourself back into the land of the living. You rub your eyes, stretch and yawn as you roll out of bed and look around the room for any sign of Vinyl.
She must’ve left.
You check your watch.
18:32 pm.
“I’d better go find her.” You say to yourself.
Where could she be…?
You step out of the empty room and into the dimly lit corridor. You slowly begin to walk down the corridor, thinking of possibilities as to where she would be…
Cafeteria.
Seems like a good place to start. You pull the map out from your pocket and unravel it. You think back to earlier this morning, where the receptionist said your block was… Your finger travels across the map from the reception area to your block. You scan the map for any buildings that may look like a cafeteria, but to no avail.
You grumble something to yourself before returning the map to your pocket. You jog down to the steps and take them three at a time. You land with a heavy ‘thud’ and you make your way to the door. It’s reasonably dark outside, everything is still visible but shrouded by the night’s minimal light source. A cool breeze rushes past you as you make your way down the path to the fountain area.
A short girl, about 5”6, sits alone on the fountain edge. Her hair is dark violet, with one pink and one purple stripe that separates the purple. She’s in Trotswold Uniform, however, on her sleeve is a dark pink star with some sparkles surrounding it. She had some pretty hipster-esk glasses on and she levitated a thick book in front of her head, surrounded in a bubble of magenta.
You run your hand over your face and put on a smile. You strut towards her and stand slightly in front of her. She says nothing. You say nothing.
Oh for fucks sake!
“Excuse me!” You say a little too loudly.
She moves to her right slightly, not even bothering to look up. You give her a confused, disapproving look. You step in front of her.
“Is everyone in the school going to do something stupid when I say ‘Excuse me’?” You ask, furiously.
She looks up from her book and stares you in the eyes.
“You said ‘Excuse me’, so I moved.” She replied with a small smirk.
You sigh loudly and attempt to regain control.
Ok, ok, ok, ok, ok.
“Look, do you know where the cafeteria is?” You ask, trying to smile again.
“I do.” She replied simply, crossing on leg over the other.
I SWEAR! I AM GOING TO FUCKING KILL SOMEONE!
“Well then! Where is it!” You shout furiously, causing a few wandering students to give you disapproving looks.
“Over there.” She says, pointing towards a low, but long building made completely out of smooth stone.
“Thank you.” You reply, calming down rapidly.
“See you around.” She replies, raising the book back up to her face.
“Yeah.” You reply, halfheartedly.
You walk towards the building and push the double doors open. The first thing that hit you was the horrific stench of the room and then the people sat around the long, plastic table. The room is about 50 metres long and wide (164ft?)
and painted with a combination of brown on the lower walls and cream on the upper walls. Immediately to your right is a long line of hungry looking faces, sectioned off by a group of teachers and a long line of thick, red rope. Directly to your left is a Full HD 80" LED TV, screening a movie that you don’t think you’ve ever seen before.
You scan the room for your roommate. You’re surprised at the boy/girl split. There is surprisingly more girls than boys, not that it bothers you in the slightest. The part of the cafeteria where hot food is being served is overcrowded with casually clothed pupils. You feel your stomach grumble loudly. You latch onto the back of the queue. To your surprise, the same girl you’d met earlier stands in front of you.
“Tavy?” You ask, curiously.
She slowly turns around and stares you right in the eyes.
“It. Is. Octavia.” She whispers quietly.
Aaahhh, shit that is scary.
“Sorry, sorry, Octavia,” You say, putting your hands out slightly in front of you. “Do you know where Vinyl is?”
Octavia shrugs. “I don’t know where she is.”
“Oh great,” You mumble, looking around the cafeteria. “By the way, do you know that girl outside on the fountain? The one with the purple hair and the glasses?”
Octavia taps her chin a few times before breaking into a smile. “Yeah, I know her, she’s Twilight Sparkle; Headmistresses favourite student,” Octavia replies, rolling her eyes. “She’s unbelievably smart but doesn’t really talk to, well, anyone.”
The queue shuffles forwards a few metres and the oh-so familiar awkward silence that you’d come to expect settles in. When you finally reach the front of the queue, you are blessed with the smell of… Chinese Food. You grin wildly as you scoop a plate full of steaming hot food and move onto the desert area. The option between Apple Crumble, Apple Fritters, Apple Pie and Apple Strudel is a difficult one, but you take a small, china bowl filled with Apple Crumble and vanilla Ice cream. You turn and face the overcrowded room. Octavia appears by your side and smiles.
“Come with me.” You says, walking towards a table with two people sat at it, both deep in conversation.
Octavia walks up to the table and smiles, exchanging friendly hellos and asking if the seat is taken. She sits down and pats a space next to her. You smile awkwardly and take your seat. Sat opposite to your is a girl and a boy.
The girls has surprisingly curly, purple hair that flowed down past her neck and slightly below her shoulders. The sitting next to her was about four inches taller than his companion, coming in at about 6 foot. Pale skin and blond hair.
Urgh…
“This is Rarity and Blueblood.” Octavia says, pointing at both of them as she announces their names.
“Hi.” You mumble in response, giving a pathetic wave.
“Now, Darling, I don’t think I’ve seen you around, are you new here?” The one named, Rarity, asks, smiling.
Darling?
“Er, yeah, it’s my first day here; I arrived at, like, 9 in the morning.” You reply, lifting a fork full of food into your mouth.
“So, who are you removed with? Anyone we might know?” Blueblood asks after swallowing a spoon full of apple crumble.
He raises a small piece of cloth to his face in a bubble of magic, dabbing his lips before returning it to the table. You tut loudly, maybe a bit too loudly and he frowns at you.
“I’hm roomed with Vinyl.” You reply in between mouthfuls.
“Darling, please don’t speak with your mouthful.” Rarity replies in disgust.
You wipe away the sauce from your mouth and apologise quickly.
"Vinyl is a disgrace to music." Blueblood announces.
“Well, I wouldn't say she is a disgrace... she has her own... style. Anyway, you’re in for a… bumpy, ride,” Rarity turns to Blueblood. “Would you say bumpy is the right word, dear?”
“Bumpy and a very loud ride.” Blueblood replies, chuckling to himself. Both Octavia and Rarity join the laugh.
After the laughter dies down, Rarity and Blueblood stand, levitating their plates, bowls and cutlery in front of them.
“It was a pleasure meeting you…” Rarity begins. “I don’t think you every told us your name.” Rarity begins.
You tell her your name.
“As I said, it was a pleasure meeting you.” Rarity politely nods her head before turning to the exit.
“What a delightful couple they are.” Octavia sighs as you both continue to eat you dinner.
“So, you’re single?” You probe.
She flushes red.
“I’ve… never had a boyfriend before.” She replies quietly.
“I’m surprised.” You reply.
“You’re just saying that.” She mumbles in response.
“No, honestly, I’m really surprised. Honest.” You desperately try to reassure her.
She doesn’t reply and finishes the remainder of her food. She stands up quickly and makes for the door. You’re sat there, alone, to finish your food.
You unlock your rooms door and are greeted by loud music. Vinyl is lying on her bed, finger drumming as the bass drops. You cover your ears and walk towards her, tapping her lightly on the shoulder. She sits up and looks at you then smiles. The dials on the speakers are twisted in an aura of light cobalt.
“Where were you?” You ask, bluntly.
“In the recording studio, it’s so awesome in there, they have some incredible Djing booths and some properly big speakers an—“ You cut her off with a dismissive wave of the hand.
“Well, I had an exciting conversation with a certain Twilight Sparkle, is that her name? Anyway, you could’ve at least told me, or even left a note to say where you were going to be so I didn't look like an idiot, wandering around the school.” You growl.
“Hey, hey, hey, what rustled your jimmies?” She smirks.
You’re lost for words.
“Whatever,” You mumble. “I’m going to phone my parents to tell them I got here safely. Does this school have signal?”
Vinyl simply nods in reply and levitates a pair of a pair of specially designed headphones onto her head. The headphones are white with the mark of a mirror image of two bridged eighth notes
You pick up your phone and tap in the security password. Scrolling through your contacts and stop on your Home number. You tap the dial button and raise it to your ear.
The familiar sound of your mother fills your ears.
“Hey Mom.
Yes, I got to school alright.
Yes mom, I unpacked.” (That was a lie.)
“Yeah, everyone seems nice, a bit weird, but nice.
Well… I’m paired with a girl…
Yeah, she’s alright with it.”
“Dad? Is that you?
Hey Dad!
Wait, did you just say you packed condoms?
That’s why you’re my favorite Dad.
Look, mum, I gotta go know, love you. Bye. Bye.”
You hang up.
“Mommy’s boy.” Vinyl mocks, sitting up in her bed.
She heard the entire thing.
You blush for the second time today. She laughs loudly and lies back down.
“I’m going to take a shower, okay?”
“BASS!” Vinyl screams at the top of her voice as the bass drops. You can hear what she is listening to through the headphones but can’t quite make out which song it is.
You bend down to your pack suitcase and open them. One of them is crammed to the brim with clothes, the other is a mixture of clothes, bathroom utilities, stationary and… two packets of opened condoms.
You pull a bottle of Lynx: Attract and a bottle of shampoo and walk into the bathroom. You strip down naked and step into the shower bath tub. Three dials. Hot and cold, for both the shower and the bath, bubbles and whirlpool. You twist the temperature dial about half way between the hot and off section and let the Luke warm water wash over your face. You stand in the shower for a few seconds before lifting the Lynx Bottle and squeezing and handful into you hand and rub it other your entire body. You fill your hands with water and rinse yourself a few times before actually rinsing it off with the shower. You lather the shampoo through your hair and a blob of it drips into your eye.
“FUCK FUCK FUCK FUUUUUUUCK!” You scream, desperately trying to rinse it out.
You rinse the remainder of the shampoo from your hair and turn the taps off. You look around the bathroom for a towel. A moderately large towel hangs on the door. You take it from the hook and pad yourself down. Noticing that you didn’t bring any change of clothes into the bathroom, you wrap it around your body and cautiously step out into the bedroom.
“Vinyl, I’m naked.” You warn her as you walk towards the open suitcases. Bending down, you pick up a pair of Calvin Klein designer boxers and a plain white T-Shirt. You slip into them and drop the towel to the ground.
It takes you a good ten minutes to fully unpack. Vinyl didn’t seem to pay any attention to your questions.
“Vinyl,” You ask, lifting her headphones off her head.
“Sup?”
“Mind if I get your number?”
“Sure. You know the area code?” You nod.
“669-6969.” She states in a serious tone.
“669… 6969.” You mumble tapping it into your phone.
Vinyl bursts into laughter.
“You actually believed me? Give me your phone.” She says, stretching a hand out to take your phone.
She types in her number and hands it back to you.
“I think I’m going to go to bed. I’ve had a long day in the recording studio.” She announces, sliding her headphones back onto her head and hiding herself under the covers.
You sigh loudly.
I need to stop sighing.
You walk into the bathroom and brush your teeth quickly before returning to your bed.
One day down, a shit ton more to go.
Trotswold Boarding School
You feel a wet patch form around your groin. Your hand becomes cold and it feels like it’s submerged in something; something cold. Your eyes widen in horror and you yank your hand from the bowl of cold water. You lean forward in your bed and give Vinyl a cold stare. She is grinning into the mirror as she flattens the creases on her uniform.
You lift the bowl and sneak towards her.
“Close.” She smiles, holding the bowl in her magic and tilting it back towards you.
A sliver of cold water spills from the bowl and runs down the back of your neck. Smiling, Vinyl places the bowl on the floor.
“I’m not that much of bitch,” She smiles, “Now hurry up, you’re going to be late.”
You rub your eyes and walk towards the closet. You pull out the first set of uniform and slip into it. The trousers are unbelievably tight but the shirt and blazer are both surprisingly comfortable. You quickly brush your hair and search for the piece of paper that was neatly packed into your bags. You pull it out and scan down the list.
Tuesday.
P1: Chemistry – Miss. Zecora
P2: English – Miss. Spearshake
P3: Physical Education – Mr. Streak
P4: Physical Education – Mr. Streak
P5: Biology – Miss. Henbury
P6: Study Period
You look over your schedule for today.
“Vinyl, what lessons do you have?” You question out of pure curiosity.
“Double Music, English, Chemistry, Double Sports.” She recites.
No lessons with Viny. Heh, Viny.
“Do you know where Chemistry is?”
“Yeah, it’s in the science block.”
“Ah, couldn’t work that bit out.” You reply sarcastically. “Where is the science block?”
“Mmmm, I’ll show you.” She beckons you towards the door.
You glumly walk over to her and she holds the door open for you. You exit the room and she lets the door slam shut. You walk in silence to the front door of you block. It’s warm outside, with a cool breeze that perfectly complements the heat. There sky is mostly clear, but a few stray clouds make their way across the sky.
You breathe in deeply, taking in the fresh air. Vinyl had already walked halfway down the path by the time you’d finished admiring the pleasant scenery. You jog after her and slow down as you reach her side.
You walk to the science block in silence and she turns to leave and you make your way into the science block. It’s one of the larger buildings in the school. The interior is crowded with uniformed students, making their way to their science lessons. There are so many classes along the bottom floor and properly an equal number along the top floor. Spotting a group of girls standing by the door, you decide it is in your best interest to ask them.
Here goes.
You strut your way up to the gossiping pair.
“Excuse me, do you know where chemistry is?” You ask.
Both girls turn to look at you.
“OhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygosh! New kid! You must be new, because I haven’t seen you around and because I haven’t seen you around it means I’m not your friend! But I am your friend now and I am super excited to meet yo—“ The other girl had covered her mouth with her hand.
Huh? I didn’t catch a word.
“Ah’m sorry, sugarcube. This here is Pinkie Pie an’ Ah’m AppleJack.” Applejack spoke with a mild southern accent. This is surprising, because this school is as far north as you can get.
Applejack was about 5”10, average, athletic build. Her hair dangles to one side of her head in a pony tail that dangles down on the left side of her head. This… Pinkie Pie, on the other hand, hair was a curly mass of pink that somehow perfectly maintains is position. She’s about 5”4 and incredibly hyper. You tell them your name.
“So, who were ya looking for?” Applejack inquires, removing her hand from Pinkie Pies mouth.
“I was looking for… Miss Zecora, for chemistry.” You say uncertainly.
Pinkie Pies eyes widen.
“Well, we’re in Miss Ze—“
“She’s an evil enchantress! Who does evil dances! If you look in her eyes, she will put you in trances!” Pinkie Pie sings, leaping up and down on the spot.
This girl… is crazy.
“As ah was saying, we’re in Miss Zecora’s class, why don’t you stay with us?” Applejack suggests.
Well, it won’t do me any harm to meet new people, even if one of them looks like she is on a 24/7 sugar overload.
You nod your head thankfully.
“Alright, suppose it can’t do me any harm.” You respond.
“So, do ya mind if Ah ask who ya paired with?”
“I’m paired with Vinyl.” You answer.
“Ohmygosh! IknowVinyl! She’s got the best music ever! She even let me Dj once and It was super exciting and now you’re paired!” Pinkie appeared behind you, scaring the shit out of you and forcing you to stumble forwards.
Fortunately, Applejack was there to catch you. An apologetic look creeps across Pinkies face and her eyes widen and begin to water.
“It… it’s alright, you just caught me off guard.” You reply, brushing yourself down.
Her eyes turn back to normal and she smiles broadly. The unnecessarily loud bell rings through the science block, signalling the start of the lesson. The gathered students outside the classroom cease their gossiping and walk into the science room.
The classroom is what you had expected it to look like. The entire room is white with large windows lining the opposite side of the room from the door. To the right of the door is an interactive whiteboard and a normal whiteboard next to it. The teacher’s desk is only a few feet in front of the whiteboards. A small, venous flytrap sits on the desk. The rest of the classroom walls is dominated with posters of the human body, periodic tables and laboratory safety rules. The central area of the room is crowded with tables joined together with four seats around it.
The teacher looks… strange, to be polite. She’s about 6 foot 1 and dark skinned. Her hair is by far the most strange thing you've seen in a while. It’s a perfect Mohawk with black and white stripes running through it. If you didn’t know any better, you’d have thought she was a zebra. Her lab coat stretches down to her shoes. Strange patterns are illustrated on the front and the back of it.
You take a deep breath and walk towards her.
“Miss Zecora?” You ask, shakily.
She turns slowly towards you.
“Yes, young child?” Her accent is a vague generic African accent... crossed with vague Caribbean islander accent.
“Where should I sit? This is my first day.” You reply, rubbing the back of you neck.
She looks around the room and turns back to you. She raises a hand and points toward a table nearer to a table nearer to the back of the room. There’s only one space left. You recognize Applejack who appears to be in deep conversation with the boy next to her.
It’s no surprise that the guy who had an empty seat had an empty seat. He was 6” 4 and unbelievably thin.
His face is riddled with spots and he probably had a pretty bad BO. You lower your head slightly as you realize the teacher wanted you to sit next to him.
I hate you.
You amble sluggishly towards the table. He watches you and gives a sickly smile. You reach the table and go to sit down. He snaps his fingers loudly and the chair is whipped from beneath you. It feels like it takes forever for you to fall to the ground, but it was only about half a second.
His sick laughter feels your ears and you stand up, humiliated by a basic prank. You stand and drag the chair back to the table. He’s still laughing at you.
“Discord, that was a stupid thin’ to do!” Applejack announces.
‘Discord’ rolled his eyes and shrugged.
“It was funny, though.” He licked his lips in a creepy manner.
Applejack turns to you.
“Are you alright?”
You nod weakly in response.
“Discord, why you got to be a complete asshole towards everyone?” The bot sitting next to Applejack furiously declared.
“I’m not an assho—“
“Is it because you've never had a friend in your life before? Nobody wants to be your friend because you’re a complete ass to everyone else!” He continued.
“I’ve got tons of friends!” Discord retorted.
“Ok, name three.” He rose an eyebrow and leaned back slightly on the stall.
“Urm… Jenny… Hardhat… and…” Discord stuttered in response.
“Exactly. Jenny doesn’t even like you! She went with you to the dance just to make yourself feel better about youself! Hardhat said you were alright because you played a prank on his brother!”
“Clean Slate, don’t you think you’ve gone a bit far?” Applejack rested an arm on the raging boys shoulder.
He sighed loudly and shook his head slowly.
“I’m just so fed up with all the stuff Discord does…” Clean Slate muttered under his breath.
“Applejack, could you please inform, of what is on the board?” Zecora’s voice is cold and serious.
Applejack slowly turned her head to the board and quickly read through the writing. You clean over the desk slightly.
“A catalytic converter is a vehicle emissions control device which converts toxic by-products to less toxic substances by way of catalysed chemical reactions.” You’d been paying attention the entire time.
Applejack recites what you’d just told her to the best of her abilities. Zecora gives a small nod.
“Thank you.” Applejack whispers.
The rest of Chemistry passes by like a breeze. You ended up socialising with both Applejack and Clan Slate throughout the entire lesson. Discord didn’t really trouble you; he didn’t really do anything at all. Your teacher, Zecora, had the annoying trait of always speaking in rhymes, but everyone guarantees you won’t notice it after a few lessons.
You wait patiently outside the changing rooms door. You recognised Clean Slate from earlier and a guy called Storm. He was a short, buff lad. He harboured some pretty small wings. His uniform has two slits on the back of it so that his wings could pass through them. Other than that, his uniform was identical to yours.
A stocky, 6 foot tall coach, wearing jogging bottoms and a dark blue jacket, appeared from the changing rooms.
“ You've got five minutes to change. Anyone late gets kept behind.” His voice is deep and serious. He gave dirty looks to all of the students who dared to groan at his proposal.
The students filed into the changing rooms quietly, hanging their heads low. He turned and stared at you.
“Well? You gonna get changed or stand there looking like an idiot?”
“I don’t have any kit.” You retort.
“Detention. Saturday. 11am.” He sneers.
“What? How is that even fair?” You exclaim.
“No kit, Saturday detention. It’s that simple.” He smirks, crossing his arms.
Now my time to make him look like a complete dick.
“I don’t have kit, because it’s my first day.” You cockily reply.
You watch his face for a few seconds. His once confident smirk has turned to a sour, hateful glare.
He walks towards the staff room and reappears a few minutes later with a pair of size six, pink and red shoes and a tight pair of shorts. He hands them to you as you stare in disbelief.
“You’re not really going to make me wear this, are you?” You question, raising an eyebrow.
“Yes. From now on, you’ll refer to me as Sir or Mr. Streak.” His face is harbours a sick smile.
What an idiot.
You walk towards the changing room and push the door open. The first thing that hit you was how big it is. The second thing that hit you was a pair of rolled up, dirty socks. They slid down your face, leaving a trail of humiliation and anger.
“Which wanker through these at me!?” You shout, throwing your makeshift sports kit onto the ground.
A couple of jeers and laughs creep around the changing room. You feel something cold behind you.
The smell of bad breath and BO.
“That would be me.” That oh-so familiar voice.
You turn and stare at him.
“Clean Slate was right. You really are an asshole.” You spit.
He vanished from your view.
“Is that so?” His voice dripped with confidence.
You feel two hands shove into your back.
Wow. He’s pretty strong. For an asshole.
You fall forwards and land against the wall. You begin to stand up but feel a firm grip on your shoulder.
“I WILL NOT TOLERATE THAT KIND OF BEHAVOIUR! If you want to fight, take it to the boxing ring!” Mr Streak’s voice filled the room with ease.
He releases his grip and you brush your shoulder off and stand up. Discord had retreated back to his changing spot.
A few minutes later.
You and the other students watched in the gymnasium as Mr Streak went through a lesson plan.
He checked you all of a list and walked towards a large, double door at the side of the gym. He pulled out a large boxing ring and positioned it in the middle of the room.
“Can anyone tell me what this is?” He asked, pointing at the boxing ring.
“A boxing ring, sir.” The students answered in unison.
“Can you tell me what you do in a boxing ring?”
“We spar with one another.” The gathered body replies.
“And thanks to Discords little act with the new kid, they’ll be sparring first.”
Trotswold Boarding School
All eyes are on the ring. You and Discord stand at opposite sides of the ring, sizing each other up.
“There will be no use of magic, wings or help from any spectators. Use of any of these will result in the opponent being disqualified. Spitting, pinching, licking. Banned. Hits below the belt are acceptable.” Mr Streak announces, dimming the lights to add effect to the matter.
Wait…
“Are we getting gloves?” You ask, slightly nervous.
“Gloves are for pussies.” He replies with a grin.
“You can begin when you’re ready.”

Your thoughts are cut short after He landed a clean blow to your gut, and then drop kicked you to the ground. It hurt, a lot. You roll away from him and stand, shaking your body off.
“Hey, I thought this was a boxing fight, not a free for all street fight!” You call to Mr. Streak.
“Sorry, didn’t I mention that is wasn’t a boxing fight?” He calls back, laughing.
Discord lunges towards you and lands a combo of punches.
Shit, he is fast.
His speed is unnatural. One second he could be in front of you, landing punches in your gut and chest, then he could be behind you in a matter of seconds. He seems to be punching you in a pattern...
Back, Back, Front, Font, Back, Back...
You lash out the second he appears back in front of you, causing him to crumple into a ball on the ground, holding his stomach and coughing violently.
C-c-c-Combo Breaker!
You lift him up by the shirt and use your stronger hand to low a couple of heavy blows to the face and gut before grabbing his and bringing it down towards your knee. A gasp of fear escapes your opponents mouth. You grab on to your opponents upper back, looking like you have grabbed on the neck. Holding on to your opponents shoulders in the midair, you place both of your knees on their shoulders and pull your opponent's top half of their body and let it hit your shins. You fall back gently on the mat and Discords thin frame tips over backwards.
You just got… Codebroken.
You run towards him and elbow drop him in the chest. You turn your back on your crippled opponent and look out of the ring. Cheers erupt from the crowd as you swinging your arms up in the air, preparing for your final move. You climb onto top of the ropes. You leap forwards into a forward somersault.
450º Splash!!
You feel your body become weightless. Your eyes are tight shut and you’re smiling in anticipation.
Did I land it?
You open one eye and see Discord, still lying on his back, with an outstretched hand. You’re floating in midair. He caught you! The slimy, sneaky, snaky snake caught you in his magic. He slowly brings himself to his feet and you look desperately at Mr Streak. He simply shrugs in your direction. He flexes his outstretched fingers and moves his hand in a downwards sweeping motion.
You’re body in dragged downwards towards the floor. He repeatedly smashes your body into the floor before spinning you around in the air and letting you fall face first.
“Want to…”
Discords voice is drowned out as you feel a surge of pain rush through your body. You feel your head throb violently. The pain continues for what feels like an eternity. You wake up in a place you don’t recognize… It’s complete darkness with a big double door at one end.
“Pfffft, my life has turned into some crappy video game with a predictable ending.” You sigh.
You knew what you had to do. You walk towards the door and stand in front of it.
“Oh great spirit that has been watching over me, I’m ready to get my superpowers now!” You call out, crossing your arms.
The doors creak open and floods of light fill the… place.
What a surprise.
You step through the door.
“… give up?” Discord finishes.
You open your eyes and gasp loudly. You stand and brush yourself off.
So, what superpower do I have? Trans dimensional teleportation? The ability to shape metallic objects? The ability to change logic in your own image?
You unwillingly sprint towards Discord and land multiple punches on his chest and head. He staggers backwards as you slide across the mat and knock Discord off his feet. You grab his legs and pull his towards you, kicking his ass, literally. You shoulder drop him repeatedly in the chest. You have no consideration for his health right now; you just wanted to finish the job.
You step away from Discords frail body as he coughs and moans in agony on the ground. He weakly raises a hand, signalling the end of the fight.
The entire room is silent. A small choir of cheers begins in the back of the group. It ripples throughout the crowd and they begin to chant your name. You begin to feel light headed and slump down next to the rope. That explosive moment really took a lot out of you. Clean Slate hands a water bottle through the rope and you gratefully down the entire bottle. Discord is being dragged out of the ring by his legs. You muster enough energy to smile.
“Hey man, you really kicked Discords ass!” Storm called out, jogging towards you followed by two guys you don’t recognise.
They were Identical twins, however. Both about 5”8 and looked like they lived in the weight room. They both had a pretty big pair of wings attached to their backs. The only noticeable difference is that one of them had a small necklace on.
“Yeah… That was…” The first twin begins, hovering slightly.
“Awesome!” The other finishes.
Twins that finish each other’s sentences? How original.
“This is Damien,” Storm states, pointing at the boy with the necklace.
He gives a small wave.
“And I’m Drake.” The other one introduces.
You tell them your name.
“Well, we’ll talk to you later; coach will get pissy if we talk to you for too long.” Storm rolls his eyes and walks with the twins behind him.
You pull yourself to your feet and duck under the ring. You feel lightheaded a slump down next to the nearest wall. That little show took a lot out of you.
The rest of the double lesson was a mixture of sparring and recovery for the majority of students. Mr. Streak called off your Saturday detention and gave you the sports uniform. You were glad to get out of those tight shoes and shorts.
Lunch was either a cold hotdog or an equally cold vegetarian version. A small, square juice box complemented it. Most kids had gone to town to buy something to eat and came back with some form of fast food. The healthier ones picked a low calorie Subway, spilling with a variety of greens. You were unaware that you could go off site for lunch and ended up exploring the school yourself.
Biology was a pointless lesson. A bunch of daddy girls were bitching to each other the entire way through and the teacher was too kind to say anything about it. All you really did was look at the human joints and test your BMI, proudly landing in the healthy zone, for the last twenty minutes of the hour long lesson.
The bell rang through the science block and the sound of stalls scraping against the tiled floor and the teachers attempts to remind them that the bell signals the end of the lesson for her, not for them.
Study period; I haven’t got anything to study…

“Oh my gosh, I can’t believe you have study period now as well, that is so awesome because I have study period and most people don’t have study period so I get lonely sometimes, but it’s so cool that you have study period because having friends is what everyone wants!” Pinkie Pies facial expressions change as she speaks.
You’ve never had a friend in your life… life… life… life… Why am I echoing life!?
“Oh… hey Pinkie.” You reply, still slightly amazed at her speaking abilities.
“So! Where do you want to study?” Her voice is full of excitement.
“Well, I don’t really have anything to study.” You shrug.
“Well, you could help me study, that would be super awesome! Then you could meet my roommate! She can be grumpy sometimes but she’s mostly nice.” Pinkie Pie suggests.
“Sure, why not.” She walks down the path with a bounce in her step.
She turns into the C block and sprint up the steps to the second floor. You have to power walk to keep up with Pinkie. She stops outside of room 110, knocking the door twice before pushing it open. You take a step inside and are shocked by how much of a mess it is! Clothes are scattered everywhere. Pieces of paper with, something that resemble words, scrawled over them, made a circle around the desks that were directly opposite each bed. The closet is next to the toilet and the messier of the two beds is about 10 feet away from it.
“Sorry about the mess.” Pinkie apologises in an upbeat tone. She sits down at the desk that is furthest away from the bathroom and pulls a stack of paperwork from under the desk and places it on the top. She grabs a pen and beckons for you to come closer. You grab the chair at the other desk and pull it towards Pinkie. She scribbles something down on the sheet then stops and begins to chew the pen cap.
“I really don’t have a long attention span when it comes to homework.” He voice has turned serious.
You lean over the desk and scan over the pages. There are about 20 complicated maths questions, not including sub questions, spread down the page. Pinkie has already completed about half of it.
“Well, if you look at question 11, it’s a trick question.” You explain, tapping the sheet.
You explain to her how to do it and within a few minutes, the rest of the page is completed. She compliments your intelligence and thanks you.
It takes you the best part of two hours to finish the majority of the stack. You couldn’t really help her with Home-ed.
“Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve invited everyone to Dashie’s birthday party and everyone will be there so I wanted to invite you as well.” She whispers, hardly able to contain her excitement.
“Sure. When is it?” You smile.
“Thursday! From 6-12pm! Be there or… miss out!” Pinkie squeals, pulling you into a tight bear hug.
She releases you and you laugh a little out of embarrassment. You stand and make your way to the door.
“Thank you again!” She smiles, waving to you as you exit the room.
You pull out your phone and smile at the number Pinkie gave you.
Contact number 5 at Trotswold.
You stroll back to your room and unlock the door. Vinyl is sat on her bed with a Dell laptop on her lap. She’s tapping her foot against the ground and focusing her magic into a pen that is hastily writing something down on the notepad next to her. Her headphones are on, but she manages to notice you. She smiles and waves in your direction. You give a quick nod in response. You enter the bathroom and do about your business.
Exiting the bathroom, you see Vinyl beckoning you over. You sluggishly walk towards her, still tired from the earlier fight. She takes her headphones off and twists one of the speakers and you lift it to your ear. The cushion is extremely… cushiony. She clicks play on Garage Band. The introduction is quiet, relaxing and smooth, blending in beats together. The sound slowly loudens before the bass drops. It’s the heaviest, dirtiest, gnarliest drop you’ve ever heard in your life. As the music comes to an end, she takes the speaker away from her ear.
“Well?” She asked as you hand your speaker back.
“That was pretty sick.” You reply with a nod.
“Rainbow Dash is going to love this.” She pumps her fists in the air.
Rainbow Dash… Dashie…
“Would that Rainbow Dash be the same ‘Dashie’ whose having a party on Thursday.” She nods in reply.
“You’re going to play this at her party?” You say, sounding rather offensive.
Vinyl seems rather taken back. She frowns at you.
“I didn’t mean it in a bad way. I meant, it’s going out in front of loads of people, what if they don’t like it?” You correct yourself.
She shrugs.
“It’s alright.”
“I’m going to dinner, you coming?” You open the door after changing from uniform into casual clothes.
She stands and walks over to you. Being the gentleman you are, you hold the door open for her.
It’s about 10pm by the time you and Vinyl return to your room. Bloated from the large buffet that was available tonight, you crash on your bed and moan loudly. Vinyl sits on her bed and lies backwards, putting her hands behind the bed.
You’d ended up getting a second tour of the buildings, but the part that amazed you the most were the music rooms. It was pretty amazing, the part that Vinyl uses, anyway. It was a pretty big room and a DJ with flashing lights and huge speakers o it. She called it… The Bass Cannon Mark 1!
“Urghhhh… I ate way too much.” You complain, rolling on your bed in agony.
Vinyl can’t help but laugh.
“I told you not to overdo it.” She smirks.
You grumble in response.
She reaches under her bed and pulls out her laptop, booting it up at an agonizingly low rate. You roll onto your side and watch her after hearing her giggle at the screen.
“What’s so funny?”
“It’s an inside joke, you won’t understand.” She replies.
“Can I be ‘inside’?” You put on your cutest face, which isn’t particularly cute.
“After seeing that face, I don’t think you’ll ever be in the group.” She laughs.
You pout to her and yawn loudly.
“I’m going to call it a day.” You mumble, covering yourself in the bed sheets.
“Awwww, are you a bit tired?” She teases.
“Yes.” You reply bluntly, taking your shirt and trousers off in bed and throwing them at Vinyl.

Five - Buying gifts and Inviting strangers
You peel your eyes open as the thin slither of light makes its way into your dorm. You prop yourself on an elbow and look over at Vinyl, who is still asleep. You reach onto the ground and search for your phone. You lock your fingers around what you can only presume to be a phone and lift it to your face. You tap a button on the side of the phone and the blinding light that emanates from the phone forces you to shield your eyes.
7:20… School starts at 8:30.
You swing your legs over the side of your bed and rub your face with your left hand. You run through your school schedule and get dressed by 7:30.
I still need to get that present for the party… What was her name… Dashie?
You sit back down on your bed and hear Vinyl yawn. She flings the bed covers off and clambers out of bed. She stares at you for a few seconds.
Oh.
You avert your gaze and give her some privacy. The light flicks on after a few minutes and Vinyl is sat on her bed.
“Vinyl, is there anywhere to go shopping around here?” You ask. “I still need to get a present for Dashie’s birthday tomorrow.”
Vinyl smiles. “Yeah, you can go down to town, it’s only a 10 minute walk, or you could go to the mall.”
You nod. “Is there anything that she might like?”
“Well, she’s a huge fan of the Wonderbolts.”
Where have I heard that name before…
“Would they be the same Wonderbolts that did that world tour last year?”
Vinyl gives a ‘Mhm’ in response.
“Well… if you’re not busy after school, would you mind coming to town with me?” You ask, awkwardly.
“There’s a slight problem. I’m going to town with Tavy and Lyra.”
Your face droops.
“However, I’m sure Tavy wouldn’t mind if you tag along and I’m sure Lyra would like to meet you.”
Your face returns to a smile. Vinyl stands up and makes her way to the door.
“I’m going to grab some breakfast, you want some?”
“Sure, what’s there to eat?” You reply, standing.
“Toast. You don’t have to come with me, there’s a breakfast bar down the hall.”
You sit back down and she exits the room. It takes her about five minutes to return with a plate of toast and butter on the side. She levitates a plate onto your lap and you consume it within a matter of seconds. You place the plate to your side on the floor and lie back.
“So, what time should I meet you guys?” You inquire.
“4:30, at the reception area.” She replies.
Period 4. Chemistry.
You hastily walk towards your seat, apologising for being late. You slide the seat out and half expect it to be removed from your grip by that foul stench that you had the honour of being next to. Applejack and Clean Slate exchange ‘Hellos’ with you. As the lesson drags on, you begin to feel more confident in yourself.
“Excuse me… will you go with me to the party tomorrow?” You ask, shakily.
Applejack turns her head, slightly confused.
“Dashie’s party? Ah’m already going.” She replies, with a smile.
“I mean… Discord.” You correct yourself.
He looks up as he hears the use of his name and gives you a strange look.
“You want to go out with me?” She asks awkwardly.
“No, no, no, no, no, no!” you reply quickly. “What I meant is that I’m inviting you to Dashie’s party tomorrow night.”
Both Applejack and Clean Slate look up.
“Urmm, I really don’t think that that is a good idea.” Clean Slate mumbles, trying to keep Discord from hearing.
“I heard that.” Discord hissed in response.
“Honestly, Ah have to agree with Clean on this one.” Applejack replies.
“I mean, Discord has never done anything nice to anyone, EVER.” Clean adds.
Discords face has turned red with anger. You give Discord a reassuring smile to Discord.
“I’m sure. Discord, please come tomorrow night.”
“Why are you even asking me.” His voice is sour.
“I’m asking you… because…” You take a deep breath. “Friendship Is Magic.”
Or I just feel bad for you. Either way.
The entire table falls silent. Discord breaks into a smile. He snaps his fingers and appears behind Applejack and Clean Slate in a suit, monocle and a top hat.
He puts on a upper class English accent. “Why, I would be delight to attend Rainbow Dash’s party tomorrow.”
He snaps his fingers again and turns into an orange and rolls across the table onto the seat next to you.
You stare at him.
What have I done?
4:31.
You push the door open to the reception area. The same strong smell of cheap perfume wafts around the room. The receptionist doesn’t even spare a passing glance as you walk to the three bodies sat at the fireplace, gossiping amongst each other. Vinyl is the first to hear your footsteps and turn to look at you. She smiles and Octavia, and who you can only presume to be Lyra, turn around.
“4:31, you’re late.” Octavia scolds in a joking tone.
“I’m fashionably late.” You reply with a smile.
“Hey, I’m Lyra, you must be new here.”
Lyra is surprisingly tall. A few inches taller than Vinyl. She had a horn tucked under a mass of powder blue hair.
You tell her your name and explain that you’re new here.
“I heard that you invited Discord to Rainbow Dash’s party.” Her tone is serious.
“Urm, well, I kinda felt bad for him.” You mumble in response.
“He’d better not ruin anything because we’re performing live music.” She raises her head slightly.
“Really Lyra, I think he made the right choice.” Octavia jumps in and tries to protect you.
“You know what, you’re right. He should come. I hope he destroys your cello.” Lyra retorts.
Octavias eyes widen.
“How dare you!”
Vinyl steps between the arguing pair.
“Girls, please.” Her voice is calm.
Both Octavia and Lyra take a step back, continuing to stare each other down. Once they’re both calm, Vinyl moves towards the door.
It takes about 15 minutes to get to town.
“So, the sports shop is down that road,” You points down the road to your right. “And we’ll be here, at Wubs and Strings.”
You nod in response.
“Meet us back herein about 30 minutes?”
“Sure.”
You wander down the road towards said sports shop. You look up and stare at a group of about 6, heading directly towards you.
“…and then I said, “Puh-lease, that isn't a hat, darling, that's a natural disaster that somehow landed atop your head!"
Laughter follows.
“Oh, you are a delight, Rarity, an absolute delight. You simply must attend Fathers art gallery opening this evening.”
“Oh, I'd love to, but I-“
“And let's not forget Mothers charity auction Saturday morning.”
“Well, that sounds wonderful, but I-“
“And of course there's a seat for you at my dinner party tomorrow night.”
“I'm flattered, really, but I-“
“Oh, but Rarity! Father may as well close down the whole gallery if you can't attend!”
“Mothers auction is for charity dear. For charity...”
“And my dinner party will be a disaster if you don't come.”
“...of course I'll be there.”
The group stops a few inches in front of you. The leader of the pack is a rather tall lad with blue hair and a moustache. He levitates a monocle slightly in front of his eyes. The lady next to him is a fair bit smaller than he is. Her hair is bright pink. Her entire body weight is being supported by the person with the monocle.
The rest of the people just looked snobby in their fancy hats. Rarity stood amongst the group.
“Oh look, it’s another one of those Trotswold commoners.” One of the group whispers.
“I’ve heard some awful things about the school.”
“Absolutely appalling.”
You can see Rarity twitch at the comments.
“Well, I’ve heard some incredible things about Trotswold, as a matter of fact. I heard that Bluebloods auntie is the Headmistress and has turned the school around.” Rarity states.
“Why, I have heard the same things.” Monocle guy adds.
“I always thought it was an incredible establishment.”
The group quickly begins to compliment the school.
Didn’t take much to convince them.
The group walks past you and continues their gossip. You shake your head and continue to your destination.
Well, I achieved nothing from listening to the conversation.
It takes you about half a minute to find the sports shop. It’s quite a small shop but it is packed with sports equipment. You walk up to the counter and a guy in his early twenties with spots across his face looks at you.
“Hey… have you got any Wonderbolts shirts in a girls size?” You ask, recalling what you’d been told earlier.
The cashier laughs.
“Mate, you’re not that small.”
“It’s a birthday present.”
His grin turns into a disappointed frown and he walks into the back room. He reappears with a shirt. On the back, the name Spitfire is neatly printed in white writing.
“How mu—“
“$200.”
200 fucking dollars!?
“That’s a rip off!” You exclaim.
The cashier shrugs. “Last one in stock. Wonderbolt shirts ain’t cheap, anyway. We’re the cheapest in down.”
You shake your head before reaching into your back pocket and pulling out your wallet. You slide the debit card out and insert it into the machine, tapping in you pin. The cashier drops the shirt into a carrier bag and hands it to you. You storm out of the shop.
What a pile of bullshit. $200 for a shirt.

Sorry guys, I'm just another letdown writer who went too far with something they couldn't finish.
I'm just a kid. I'm probably one of the youngest people on this site. :/
I stopped writing because I couldn't handle the responsibilities of both school and trying the write a fan fiction that people enjoyed. If I had continued, it wouldn't have been enjoyable for you guys and myself.
Sorry to disappoint you, but tons of writers do this. Take Azurini (aaron) as an example. He had a brilliant fic that inspired me to write this one, but he removed it. (Not going to go into detail if you don't know why.) But everyone makes mistakes and my mistake was starting a fic that I couldn't finish.
But I can tell you know, I'll come back.
If you don't believe me... I will. I'll keep thinking of ideas today...
