//-------------------------------------------------------// Cobalt -by Neonicbrony- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Cobalt's Arrival //-------------------------------------------------------// Cobalt's Arrival Today is just a fine evening in Ponyville, everypony is either playing, hanging out, or just being alive. Although one strange person arrives from the field. A tall boy around a young age with shaggy cobalt colored hair, he also carries an acoustic guitar on his back. He stops to look around the scenery and sighs. "Ive traveled for days in every province I could think of, Manehattan, Hoofington, and Phillydelphia but none of them want to hear my music. What is wrong with my music?" He sits on the fence and looks at his acoustic guitar, he sighs once more and continues walking to arrive in Ponyville. As he walks through town he gets lost and just decides to ask for directions he sees two girls sitting on a bench, and decides to go up to them. "Excuse me, but are you two residents of this town?" as he says rather gingerly. "Hmm? Oh! Hello there new pony, well yes, we are residents of Ponyville, Im Bon Bon and this is my best friend; Lyra" "Hello there" she stops to get up and examine him a bit. "Uhhh is there something wrong?" Lyra goes wide eye and trots off in another direction. "Uhhhmmm did I say something?" "No ,no Lyras just.....excitalbe" Bon Bon shakes her head and runs after her friend and leaves Cobalt behind. "Well that could of gone weirder, well I guess I can just take a walk around the area". He sets off first to just go sight seeing and he came across a small grove that has butterflies flieing all around. He sits down to admire the sight and looks at his acoustic and begins to play a small gentle, relaxing tune. Nearby two voices are talking one rather timid and the other a bit full of it. Two girls; one wearing jean shorts ,with a light blue jacket ,and rainbow hair ,with blue tennis shoes and light blue wings, the other a yellow dress with ,pink hair and ,pink slippers, along with her yellow wings. "Wa, wa , wa wait Fluttershy? Do you hear that?" Fluttershy stops and listens. "Y-yes I do, wait which direction d-do y-you think thats coming from R-rainbowdash?" she says this by hiding behind her friend. "I think its coming froooom.....that direction" she points to the left of her self. "O-Oh no not my butterfly grove!" Fluttershy exclaims and runs towards her grove. "Wait! Fluttershy wait for me!" As she says running behind her practically tripping on some branches. Eventually when they reach the grove they stop to see Cobalt sitting on a stump playing his guitar and every butterfly sitting either on his shoulder,head, or on a branch near him. They crouch near a bush and start whispering back and forth. "Fluttershy who is that?" "I d-don't know R-rainbowdash, I hope my butterflies are okay though" Rainbowdash shakes her head and looks back out and is lost in the music. "H-he's really good at playing his guitar though, don't you think Rainbow?" "He's very good, not so bad looking either, heh heh" as she says smirking. Cobalt opens his eyes and looks at all the butterflies and one lands on his finger. This butterfly is a rare one though, it has blue gem like wings and a white body, this butterfly flies up to his shoulder and sits there. "Well I guess I've made a friend, huh?" as he says petting the butterfly. "Although I guess I could name you....Lien" As he says this he turns around quickly to hear a branch crack and practically jumps off the log to see two people watching him. "O-oh my, w-we didn't mean to scare you." "Yeah we just heard your music from nearby" as Rainbowdash and Fluttershy come out of their bush and introduce themselves. "Im Rainbowdash, best flier in Equestria and future Wonderbolt" as she says with the utmost confidence. "I-Im Fluttershy" as she says at the most lowest of volume" "I- Im sorry but I didnt quite catch that" "I-I Fluttershy" as she says a little bit higher atleast enough for him to hear. "Well its a pleasure to meet you Rainbowdash and....." he pauses just to look at Fluttershy for a minute and he almost freezes. "Fluttershy, sorry I kind of spaced out, Im Cobalt." It seems almost Fluttershy herself spaced out, more then usual. She clears her throat and gets back to reality. "Oh well umm you were in my Butterfly Grove, and me and Dashie were just coming here to make sure the Butterflies had food. "Oh Im sorry I didn't mean to intrude, it's just this place gave me the inspiration I needed to play music again" "How so?" Rainbowdash asked while looking at his acoustic. "Well the beauty of this area is just amazing, the subtlety of the scene makes a great relaxing feeling it almost feels like its a..." Fluttershy cuts him off by taking the words out of his mouth "A Garden of Serenity and Peace." Cobalt looked at her and smiled at how she knew. Cobalt looked at the sky and noticed it was getting pretty late and he should probably be getting some sleep. Even though he never bought a home. "Well I better be heading home, I guess I'll see you two girls later." as he says this he picks up his Acoustic and bows. "We'll see you tommorow right Cobalt?" As Fluttershy and Rainbowdash asked. "Well of course you will." He then exits out of the grove back into the town and sighs to the fact he does not own a home. One man bumps into him dropping a large assortment of papers and notes. He wore a brown jacket and a white shirt with slick brown hair along with loafers and slacks. He stood up and looked at Cobalt, he had a very slick accent. "Oh I am so sorry, I was badly in thought with my new inventions." He lifts up Cobalt by the hand and brushes dust off his clothes. "Ah. You must be new to Ponyville, I'm Doctor Whooves, welcome to Ponyville." He says that by offering a hand shake. "Its nice to meet you Doctor, by any chance do you know of a motel or hotel around here I can go for some rest." As he says handing him some of his notes and papers. "Wait you don't own a home well come along with me I have extra space, and if you'd like a few extra bits I'll be sure to pay you if you be my assistant." "Well I guess I could, I've honestly have nothing else to be reliable on, plus its free so thank you Doctor" "Don't mention it well enough dilly-dallying around lets be on our way now." They arrive to the Doctors house and they enter, everywhere there is stacks of papers and loose machine parts along with a what Doctor Whooves described it as a Tardis. Cobalt shrugs and lays on the nearest couch and flops down. "Goo'night Cobalt, I'll just be downstairs in my lab if you need me!" "Alright Doctor! and thanks again!" Cobalt looks at the ceiling and falls asleep slowly. Cobalt awakes in a dark room and looks around scared half to death, he somehow turned into a filly and countless laughters from every direction and insults of his music. "Cobalt's music will never surpass Octavia or Vinyl Scratch." "Cobalt should just give up, no one likes his music anyway" "Oh look how cute a Unicorn who cant even make a decent song ahahahaha!" "AAAHHHHH! Cobalt wakes up in a cold sweat and breathing heavily. It was a dream. Author's Note Again I cant stress this enough IMAGINE THIS AS AN ANIME! //-------------------------------------------------------// Cobalt's Nightmare //-------------------------------------------------------// Cobalt's Nightmare Cobalt awoke and looked at the time, he read six o' clock. He let out a huge yawn and looked around scratching the back of his neck. "Doctor Whooves?!" he called for the Doctor but no answer. He sighed and grabbed his guitar along with his bag and headed out. "Well I guess first things first is to-" Before he could finish his sentence, he saw a poster that sent shivers up his spine. He saw a girl with a high-crowned hat, and a big guy holding two pails full of apples. He decided to go up to them and ask for basic information. "Hey there, whats the poster for?" "Hmm? Oh, hello there, wait are you new?" this girl looked at Cobalt and already Cobalt got the idea of southern hospitality. "Why yes. I am new here, my names Cobalt." as he said extending his hand and looking at both of them. "Well its a pleasure to meet you Cobalt, I'm Applejack and this is my big brother Big Macintosh." she motioned toward the big guy behind her. "Likewise, Im glad to meet some nice faces in this town." "Eeeyup." Cobalt raised an eyebrow at the one small statement and shrugged it off. "So, what about the poster?" as he said motioning towards it. "Oh! Im sorry I was just rambling, this poster is saying that the musicians Vinyl Scratch, and Octavia are coming to Ponyville for a concert." before she said this Cobalt was already walking towards the area of the stage set up. "Well it was nice meeting you new pony!" Applejack attempted to yell back before he left. "He's a quick one ain't he Big Macintosh." "Eeeyup." Cobalt decided to duck down behind a bail of hay and observe the area, so far he was already getting all the memories back from when he lived in Canterlot. All he could imagine was the constant insults and constant rejection. He couldn't bare to relive these memories, he stood up and sat on the bail of hay. "Behind him someone tapped his shoulder and he jumped up surprised. It was Fluttershy, he felt very relieved and rubbed his neck. "H-hey Fluttershy, h-hows it going?" Fluttershy noticed she surprised him. "O-oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to surprise you are you alright?" as she said looking at him. "Y-yeah I'm fine you just surprised me that's all." Fluttershy blushed at that fact and brushed her hair a bit out of her eyes. "Uhmm will you be staying for the concert?" as she said holding her hair. "Y-yeah why you ask?" as he said looking at the stage and then back to her. "W-well me and my friends will be there, do y-you want to watch it with us?" "Sure, I'd be happy to" as he said that he followed Fluttershy to a table with all her friends. He recognized Rainbow Dash and Applejack but not the other three or the small boy sitting next to Rainbowdash. "Hey Cobalt!" as Applejack and Rainbowdash exclaimed. Rainbowdash and Applejack looked at eachother and laughed at how both of them knew him. So this is the guy you were talking to us about Fluttershy, Cobalt looked at Fluttershy and blushed at that statement. Fluttershy seemed to blush as well and looked away. "Oh, well enough about that Im Twilight and this is Spike." as she said offering him a seat, ironically next to Fluttershy. "Hey there Cobalt, thats a sweet guitar you got there bro, do you play?" as Spike said, a bit indulged with Cobalts guitar. Cobalt and Spike high-fived and were instantly friends. Another girl looked at Cobalt and Spike instantly stopped listening to Cobalt and listened to her. She examined him a bit. "Umm darling, don't you think you should of came to this event with a bit cleaner clothing?" as she said that Cobalt looked at his shirt and jeans and noticed alot of dirt. "I guess you have a point but I guess I need some new clothing." as he sighed. "Well if you ever need clothing just come by the Carousel Boutique and I'll get you fitted out." Cobalt nodded at her generosity. Cobalt looked at the one scarfing down cake and ice cream. She looked at him and smiled greatly. "Hi! Im Pinkipie, oooo would you like some cake!?" as she said holding up some for him. Cobalt simply declined and looked at Fluttershy who was playing with her hair. He sighed and looked at the stage and didn't notice that the show started and Octavia and Vinyl were performing. Then Cobalt remembered his childhood all those times the other fillies made fun of him but Vinyl and Octavia defended him, but no one cared they continued to do it. He sighed and looked at Fluttershy. "Fluttershy would you mind if I went to your Butterfly Grove, just to.....relax." as he said that standing up and grabbing his guitar. "Well, I suppose." as she said looking up at him. When she finished he began walking towards the forest to get to the Butterfly Grove. As he enters that gem-like butterfly lands on his shoulder and sits there as he sits back down on the stump. He takes out his guitar and plays a melody but then suddenly drifts off. The music turns from a relaxing tone to a ear bleeding screech. Cobalt landed on his knees completely freaked out by a demonic looking monster destroying his guitar and looks at him, soon coming straight at him and killing him. Cobalt then appears on the ground in a damp forest. A voice omits from nearby it was comforting and not demonic ,like the rest. He stood up and saw Princess Luna standing infront of him. "Princess Luna? Wh- why are you here?" as he said coming to his feat. Princess Luna approached Cobalt and patted his head softly. "I'm here because you shouldn't dream these constant nightmares, it's a sad sight to see, and plus you have something in your life that will eventually help you through this." Cobalt wondered what she was talking about but before he could ask why he was awake and in someones home with a wet rag on his forehead. "Wh-where am I?" as he looks around, from what he could see. "O-oh your awake are you alright?" a silent voice said from next to him. He was inside Fluttershy's home. Author's Note The main reason I feature Fluttershy in this part is because I feel Cobalt should have a small love interest. Sooo it is a bit cliche so. //-------------------------------------------------------// Cobalt's Moment //-------------------------------------------------------// Cobalt's Moment Cobalt had awaken in Fluttershy's home but he didn't know why, he simply sat up and the wet rag fell onto the ground. He had an insane headache and was extremely confused ,which didn't help his headache what so ever. "Oh my, you really shouldn't be moving already, or you could hurt yourself." she said by gently laying him back down with the wet rag back on his head. She moved a few containers of medicine around and grabbed a small bowl of water and gave it to him to drink. Cobalt didn't ask a question, but he drank from the water and looked at Fluttershy. "What happened?" he asked putting down the water bowl and leaning on the couch. Fluttershy sighed and started playing with her hair as usual. "Well, when you left for the Butterfly Grove it was a few hours later and I had to get Angel before he got angry about dinner, I went to check on you first, but I didn't hear a-any of your music and when I found you out cold on the ground I got scared and just brought you to my cottage, I laid you down on the ground and put a rag on your forehead and you've been asleep for a few hours." as she explained this Cobalt was trying to grasp on how he was knocked out on the ground. He tried and tried but couldn't figure it out. "Oh and by the way when I found you, your um guitar was in pieces." she pointed to his guitar and Cobalt's mood got worse. Cobalt grabbed the broken pieces of his guitar and sighed. He needed a new one anyway, he thought. "Well thanks Fluttershy, I appreciate it alot." he put down his guitar and drank a bit more water. "Cobalt why are you in Ponyville anyway?" this caught Cobalt by surprise for he never told anyone of his traveling or even his reasons for that matter. "Well I guess get ready for a story, 'cause it's a long one." Fluttershy sat next to him and laid her head on her knees and looked at him. Cobalt sighed and rubbed his neck. "I guess it started in my original home of Canterlot, where I tried to become a big musician like Vinyl Scratch or Octavia, although my music never caught anyones tastes, so one day I had enough and disappeared without telling anyone." Fluttershy instantly had a question. "B-but what about your parents, or a family, maybe some friends?" she asked. "Well I didn't have a family, my mother and father left me at a very young age because they couldn't support me so I grew up in an orphanage, all I had was an orphan mother who sort of cared about me." he remembered some of those memories but they escaped his mind quickly. "Then when I was a small colt, I started playing guitar, I was fantastic at it by Octavia and Vinyl Scratches opinion but everyone else just didn't see it, so I was neglected and bullied for doing this." he sighed and almost shed a tear. "Th-then I guess I decided I had enough then I ran away from Canterlot and started traveling, so far I've visited; Hoofington, Manehattan, Fillydelphia, you name it. None of those places wanted to hear my music." he took a deep breath and prepared for what he was going to say next. "Then I came across Ponyville, my last and final stop of my journey." he shed a tear that ran down his face and he whipped it away with his sleeve before she saw him. "Why w-would of it been your last stop?" she said by perking her head up as she did notice his tear. "I had no where else to go and if no place worked, I would of given up my dream and headed back to Canterlot, to just continue a boring life." he said this and shed a few more tears not able to wipe all of them before Fluttershy wiped a few with a tissue. "I guess I know what you mean, but that doesn't mean you should end your dream, maybe you could of found a more important thing in your life then just music." the instant he said that what Princess Luna said instantly came back to him and his anxiety returned. He looked at Fluttershy and wondered a few things but shrugged them off. Fluttershy looked at him and then looked at the clock it read ten am. "Oh! I better get off to bed it's getting late, I'll see you tomorrow Cobalt, you can sleep here if you'd like to." she said that by grinning at him and turning off the kitchen light and walking upstairs with Angel. Cobalt sighed and stayed up for a while until he drifted back to sleep, although his dreams wasn't what he was expecting. He was laying down in a meadow, a gentle breeze was developing and all he could see far away was Fluttershy and Angel sitting on the ground laughing and playing. Cobalt gaught up and attempted to walk towards them. He kept walking but he never seemed to get closer, and Fluttershy nor Angel seemed to notice him. He started running for he was scared, he kept running and running until he fell into complete darkness. Until he awoke again in the forest scenery. "Cobalt, that importance is so much closer then you think, it could of been in your; dreams, your nightmares, your past, your present, your future. You just need to look past all what is blocking your emotions." she said that final statement and Cobalt woke up, he smelt a nice aroma it smelt of rosemary and cinnamon. He got up to see the door to Fluttershys cottage open and Angel at the stove. "That bunny can cook?" he said to him self. He got up slipped on his shoes and walked outside to see Fluttershy feeding a few chipmunks. Cobalt came up behind Fluttershy and knelt down next to her. "What you up to Fluttershy?" as he said when one of the chipmunks climbed up his arm and unto his shoulder. "Oh! Cobalt, your u-up, well I'm just feeding my woodland friends, w-would you like to try?" as she said holding up some acorns. He nodded and took one and held it in front of the one on his shoulder. Before he knew it that chipmunk already ate the acorn. "Wow! Someone was especially hungry." he rubbed the chipmunks belly with his finger and the chipmunk nuzzled him and accepted him as a friend. "W-wow they've never been that friendly to new comers, I guess you have something s-special to you, Cobalt" she said that by smiling at him. Both of them blushed before either one of them knew what they were doing. Cobalt got up and laid the chipmunk back on the ground. Fluttershy followed him up and looked him in the eyes, Cobalt was doing the same thing but to her. Fluttershy didn't notice the moment that Cobalt kissed her cheek. "Thanks for the shelter Fluttershy, I really needed it." he said that and began to walk back to town. Fluttershy stood there motionless and was touching her cheek. "H-he kissed me." she muttered to herself in tears of joy.
