Light seeped through the slits in between the stones, through the windows and through the holes in the ceiling. The light was the first thing she saw when her eyes opened. It was so bright, so bright it was painful to look at. So she didn't, she closed her eyes and just lay there, thinking about previous events.
She was on an expedition with her crew, searching the ruins of a castle, taking detailed observations and studying every room carefully. Then it happened. She was the first one to see it, a ghostly figure with a deformed hole for a mouth. Dismembered in different areas and with a look of dismay in it's eyes. It pulled itself around with it's arms hung low, at first just seeing it through doorways, and windows providing a view of the forest.
As the hours passed the sightings became more common, and soon everyone was seeing them. They were drawing closer and closer to their group every time, and the rhythmic thumping of their feet on the cold stone floor grew louder in their ears with every step.
The room they hid in wasn't enough, like earlier she was the first to notice a tapping on the door. Seemingly unnoticeable at first, but within minutes it grew louder, it grew so much louder as to have them screaming in pain, and like earlier, she was the first to pass out.
My name is Twilight Sparkle, I was expeditioning with my crew, there was a sound and I passed out. I'm here now and I don't know where I'm at. I- I should go...
The thought she thought then seemed loud in her head, it rang in her ears for the lack of sound around her. My name is Twilight Sparkle. Her mind pulled up memories of her friends, and the fun she has had back in Ponyville.
I was expeditioning with my crew. Thoughts of her crew flooded her mind, seeping into her sight. Mixes of grey, dark blue, and other relevant colors swirled around. The colors of their coats.
I heard a sound. She remembered the tapping sound growing into a painful, banging sound. Then I passed out, I am in the castle on the hill, it is visible from Ponyville. I can see it from my window."
Finally, she picked herself up with hooves shaking, the light coming in from the cracks is the only light source. She was not in the room she passed out in. She was in a room with an archway and a door. She chose the door, she channeled what energy she had to her horn. A purple aura appeared around the rusty metal handle and the door began to swing open..
The door slowly creaked open as the magic aura fizzled away. It was dark, half of the room was pitch black; the only light in the room entered through the doorway she now stood in. She stared into the darkness, unblinking, not moving a muscle for a moment. Because she remembered the white blurs, the terrible deformed monsters dripping with blood, their mouths agape just staring at you.
She lifted one hoof and started walking into the darkness, once again she channeled her energy to her horn; the room lit up with a purple light. Stone walls, a stone floor, and a stone ceiling. Surprising, she thought at the sight of the room. The only piece of furniture, or really the only other thing in the room was a wooden table, and on that table was a piece of paper. It read:
Event Log
September 5th, 1889
10:00 AM - We just arrived at the castle, it's seems larger than in the photos.
10:33 AM - After a few preparations we were finally able to enter this magnificent building!
10:35 AM - Dust everywhere, there are stones missing; one of the crew members are are afraid.
10:47 AM - The same pony from earlier has thrown up, he has come to.
11:20 AM - We thought by now he'd be okay; he's shaking and has thrown up once more. He says he is more frightened than earlier.
12:25 PM - I was the first to notice the white blur, I've told the others but they don't believe me.
12:41 PM - They've noticed
12:59 PM - We've all noticed the tapping on the door.
1:16 PM - I can't feel my hooves and it's a banging sound now.
The rest of the note was covered in blood, the strange thing was. It wasn't dry, in fact, all of it was still wet and it was bright red. Twilight started to carry it with her as she left the room. She thought she saw the white blur through the archway on the other side of the room. She thought it looked at her, a pounding sound quickly entered and left her head, she nearly fell over as nausea took over her body. She started to salivate wildly as if about to vomit, and within ten seconds it went away. "Strange," she thought, "I should sit down."
Twilight started to heave but nothing came out, and this is when she realized how hungry she was. No food and only the water in the puddles on the ground. She started to pick herself up when she saw it again, though this time it had but one effect on Twilight, and that was increasing her fear. Looking around and seeing that the only direction available to walk in, was the direction she was the most afraid of. She had to follow the monster.
So she did, she walked through the archway; looking to the left, she saw a hallway. There were no monsters, but something didn't feel right. Oh right, the lights were off. But something still felt wrong, the beating of her heart filled her head once again as she looked left and right, up and down.
Yes, that was it. The walls, they weren't right. The walls were.. breathing, it seems. Looking side to side again, she saw the walls moving in and out. They were alive; walking closer she realized that heartbeat wasn't hers. The walls were covered in red and emitted a steady thumping sound. She was disgusted, her body tried to vomit but nothing came out. Just another series of painful dry heaves.
She took another step seeing as it was all she could do; then she felt it. A sticky sensation spread throughout her front left hoof as she put it down. She hesitated to move her head in fear of what it was. She picked her hoof up and kept walking, eventually coming to a door.
It was a metal door, unlike the last; it had a metal handle which hadn't rusted all that much. She opened it, well as much as she could, it was very heavy and hard to open, and was surprised to see nothing disturbing behind a door that heavy. Then she thought, It must've been containing something, it's very heavy-duty. Then she started to worry, Whatever that was must have gotten out.
