Whispers of Mephiles: The Equestrian Ultimate Life Form
Mephiles. Mephiles the Dark. A truly magnificent name; if only in title. True, he was unrespected, but he forgave the world for that. After all-why fear what you don’t know existed in the first place? However, he didn’t cease to be when his time line was snuffed from the face of the Multiverse. Instead, he was turned into a chronicler. He watched over numerous worlds and timelines from the confines of the spirit’s prison in the No Zone, and he could escape into any of them at any time.
But, he didn’t. Because, contrary to Shadow’s assumption, he detested chaos. Now, he simply got his entertainment from making events play out differently. Sometimes, though, he’d change events to make room for new ones, or even take a character out or put a character in. He enjoyed the freedoms given to him. He waited for Discord, or a similarly powered being, to pull him out of the No Zone, but he wouldn’t pray on it. And, he wouldn’t spoil his escape for himself.
Either way, he had two timelines-of two different worlds-in front of him. The first time line he was interested in was that of Mobian Dark Future, and the main timeline of Equestria. But, it wasn’t just the way they kept a physical chaos at bay that kept the demon interested. It was a potential host. A female by the name of ‘Twilight Sparkle’.
In a way, it was ironic. She was like Shadow, but wasn’t all at the same time. Where he had tragedy, she had a miracle. And yet, the principles of Shadow lie there. If he were to create a timeline where she was a terios of Shadow...
And then, it hit him. It was a glorious idea. Even more irony rolled into him. He took his name from the legend of a Faust, after all. If that timeline’s creator was God, he was Dog. Mephistopheles... Yeah, Mephiles was easier to pronounce. He wouldn’t count on this version of Discord, or Nightmare Moon, or maybe even Chrysalis to identify a third party involved, but...
“Just in case, I’ll drop the Scepter.” His mouth inflated with his speech, as he created a new timeline. He’d make it practically similar in every way, shape, and form. But, just as the timeline was completed, he stopped. Not through regret, but through thought. He would have to test the new timeline, the new Twilight. But, how?
“Through more than just the trials of her own world.” He told himself, his crystals snapping off to create the Scepter of Darkness, “Perhaps I’ll put her to use as a puppet. Yes... that’s very interesting proposition....” He felt a smile on his nonexistent lips. He then made sure a fragment of his mind made it into the world. Someone to make sure everything went as he had planned. Yes, this wouldn’t be his normal scientific endeavours. He would make Equestria an Ultimate Life Form. And, she would be guided by his shadow, Terios.
He did quite enjoy irony. Which itself is a little funny, as everyone who has tried to control Shadow had at least a single ironic moment.
While not against Shadow himself, Mephiles felt this would be a perfect revenge. The innocence of others would be destroyed because Shadow wouldn’t side with him. His whispers wouldn’t threaten the worlds themselves, but rather he’d pull several strings, and see what happened. Except with the development of Twilight Sparkle. Yes... he’d like that. Before he could do that, though, he’d have to sew his Scepter in more places.
Now, without having the fetus breaking down his door, Mephiles felt this was like making miniature Giygas events occur. He was responsible for an entire timeline now, along with making sure the Twilight he was interested in knew that Mephiles existed. That would prove interesting. He picked up the first Scepter and dropped it in a second, back up timeline of the main Equestria. He couldn’t tell what would become of it, but he would be aware of it the moment he could escape from it and into the world. He took the second, and entered his timeline. One thousand years behind the beginning of Twilight Sparkle under normal circumstances.
He changed his hedgehog form to a Changeling version of his crystalline form, and appeared before Nightmare Moon as she planned to attack.
“Duchess of the Night, I am Mephistopheles, Demon of Time and Space. And I have a proposition to make.” The tall alicorn looked at him, suspiciously.
