A Fresh Start

Chapter I: A Pleasant Surprise

It was a bright and sunny day. Nothing seemed out of place. The birds were chirping, cars were whizzing down the street, and you felt content. You head downstairs to fix yourself a bowl of cereal. Your parents both worked early shifts so they were already out of the house. You didn't like them much. They didn't spend hardly any time with you and when they did, they were just flat out boring. They didn't interact unless they were picking on you about something. That wasn't the worst of your problems. You were picked on at school, mainly by a gang of high school street thug wanna-be's What made it worse was the laughing. Everywhere you went, you were giggled at by girls. Sometimes, they'd shout names and insults at you. All you could do was walk away. The one thing that stuck out the most was what happened last year. The one girl you ever truly loved left you for a mean high school thug who made fun of you as she giggled at your despair. The only place where you could be free was the woods in your backyard. They went on for miles and you made it daily business to take a hike through them to release your troubles. They provided a safe escape from your unfortunate relationship life. It let you relax and forget that one girl, who you still loved deep inside.

The gentle sound of the creek flowing emptied your mind and allowed you to be free. You decide today will be more adventurous. You go off on a path you haven’t gone down before, taking care not to lose your way. You come up on a small pond. It seems to glow with an eerie blue shade and you can’t control your curiosity. You walk over to the pond to confirm your suspicions and upon closer inspection, you swear you can see another world through the rippling surface of the water. Letting curiosity get the better of you, you decide to stick your finger in. Instantly you feel a tug, as if the water is dragging you in. You can’t hold onto anything so you fall through the surface.  Apparently, you had lost consciousness when you fell in, because when you woke up, there were a pair of magenta colored eyes looking right at you. You jump in surprise.

“Who...who are you? Where am I?” you stammer, crawling away from the curious eyes looking at you.

As your eyes focus in on the figure hovering above you, you realize it’s a cyan colored.....pony? With wings? What the..?  It’s mane was rainbow colored, and so was it’s tail. It had a small, oddly cute snout and a sleek, athletic figure.

“What are you?” the cyan colored pony asks you.

You yelp in surprise, a look of utter disbelief and confusion slapped across your face.

“W-..what...what the hell? Y-.. you can talk?!”

“Well of course I can. But I’ll ask again, what are you exactly?”

“I-..uh...I’m a..human.”

“OH! My friend Twilight talks about humans all the time! I’ll bet she’d love to meet you!"

"Uh...sure.." you reply.

    "Well let's go then! By the way, I'm Rainbow Dash, the fastest flyer in all of Equestria!"

Equestria? What the hell is that? Is that what this place is called?

You introduce yourself, and she leads you back to town. As you look around, you see many ponies. Some with wings like Dash, some with unicorn horns, and some without anything. You see ponies of all colors, and all of them are looking straight at you. Some of them have looks of amazement, some of confusion, and several female ones are giving you lustful stares and seductive smiles.

Why are they looking at me like that? Is it my lucky day?

You and Dash cross paths with a pink pony with hair that resembled cotton candy. She gasps loudly and runs off.

What the... what just happened?

You glance over at Dash and she just has a subtle grin. Eventually, you reach a large, two-story tree-turned-house. Dash knocks on the door and a female voice calls from inside.

    "Come in!"

You follow dash into what you now see is a library. You see a lavender colored pony on the other side of the room look up from her book. A look of excitement and disbelief across her face. You nervously chuckle as she walks up to you. She looks you over and examines your features.

"I...I don't believe it" she stammered, a look of amazement still on her surprisingly cute face.

"I never thought I would see a real human."

"Yeah, haha. I'm a little flustered too" you nervously say. "I have to say I was not expecting this."

“How did you get here?”

You tell them how while you were walking through the woods, you saw a pond that was glowing blue. You touched it, got sucked inside, and woke up to Rainbow Dash staring at you.

“Wow.. I don't believe it. That's just amazing." she said with a still ecstatic smile.

After all was said and done, Dash led you back outside. You notice the town is empty.

That's strange... Where did everybody go?

You followed her over to a building that appeared to be a giant gingerbread house. As you open the door, you find that it's very dark inside. You slowly look around, squinting. Suddenly the lights turn on and you are greeted with a startling "SURPRISE!!!"

You jump back fast, hand on your heart.

"Wow, we really got you good!" the pink pony with cotton candy hair squeaks.

Wow, that sure is a lot of ponies. The whole town must be here!

"Hey, you'rethenewguyintownbecauseihaventseenyoubeforeandiknoweveryponyinponyville

sowhenisawyouandihadneverseenyoubeforetheniknewthatyouwerenewandifyourenewit

meansyoudontknowanyponyandifyoudontknowanyponythenyoudonthaveanyfriendsandiwantedto

throwyouawelcomepartysoyoucouldmakefriends!"

You stand there in utter shock as you try to figure out how she managed all of that in one breath. Dash nudges you and points at the pink pony.

“This is...” Dash starts.

“PINKIE PIE!” the pink pony finishes the introduction. “Who are you?”

Barely having finished your introduction, she pulls you over to the food table. It was over flowing with the most delicious looking food and dessert you had ever laid eyes upon.

“Well? Help yourself!” she squealed excitedly.

“Haha..don’t mind if I do.”

You quickly decide that this is quite possibly the best food you had ever tasted, and couldn’t bring yourself to stop eating. Everything was beyond delicious.

“Well you sure like the food!” Pinky yipped.

“Mff yeff itf really good!” you say with a mouthful of food.

Pinky giggles and you look over to see Dash burst out laughing. You nervously look away, trying to hide the look of embarrassment that had creeped onto your face.

Wow, first day here and I’m already making a fool of myself.

You turn around to see Rainbow Dash in front of you with an amused smirk.

“S-sorry..” you stammer. “I’m not usually this piggish.”

“Haha! It’s okay! Nopony can resist Pinkie’s party food.”

“Yeah, I guess so” you say, looking at the other ponies indulging in the delicious treats.
