The sky was all but clear on this Equestrian winter night. Dark clouds hovered above Equestria with an eeriness that could chill the toughest stallion to the bone. It was strange. The night has never been so eerie and cloudy. Did the pegasi schedule a storm?
To go along with looming threat of the dark clouds above, Canterlot was quiet. Sure, it was usually quiet during the night, but even then there were still ponies walking around the city for a nightly stroll. However, tonight, the streets were unusually clear. Nopony was walking on them, and nothing filled them. All the ponies in their homes. It was a little, too, quiet. Something strange must be going on. It's as if the ponies themselves know that something is going to happen and so they shelter themselves inside in order to protect themselves.
At the castle, where the princesses of Equestria lived, Princess Celestia, rested and slept, while her sister Luna, kept watch over the castle and Canterlot to guard the night. The castle was quiet, hardly a sound resonated anywhere. Save for the guards patrolling the castle like always. In a small and secluded garden near the castle, four of these guards were keeping a close eye out, as if guarding something extremely important. This garden, while small, needed to be under tight security as it held something potentially dangerous that must never leave their sight.
A stone statue stood in the middle of this small garden. A statue of a creature with the head of horse, but with a goat horn and a deer antler on its head. In its mouth bore one long fang, a snake tongue, and a goat beard was on the statue's chin. It had the right paw of a lion, the left claw of an eagle, the right leg of a lizard, and the left leg of a goat. It had two different wings, one of a bat, the other of a pegasus. It also bore the mane of a horse, a dragon-like snake tail with a white tail tuft. Its body shape was that of a snake. The draconequus statue could easily scare some young fillies and seemed to embody the very essence of chaos.
The statue was of Discord, the god and spirit of chaos and disharmony, who was imprisoned in stone for the second time at the hooves of the Elements of Harmony. He always had a hunger for chaos. Every chance he got, he would use his magic to create mischief and chaos throughout the land. He was a force that was too reckless to keep free. He couldn't wait until he was free again so that he could cause more chaos throughout Equestria. However, that could wait, for Discord had another plan in mind. A wonderfully devious plan that he would soon set into motion.
Within his stone imprisonment, Discord could still hear everything near him in the outside world. He had overheard the princesses discussing an important matter. Celestia had discovered a new world. A new universe, per say. A world that was home to humans, creatures that didn't exist in Equestria, but weren't unknown. When Discord learned of this new world, he decided that perhaps he could turn it into his own realm of chaos. He figured that if he could use and control the human world, he could grow stronger there and strike Equestria by surprise when he had enough power.
However, Discord could not go into the human world himself due to his entrapment in the stone statue. So how could he turn the human world into his realm of chaos? There was only one way he could do this. He would have to split his soul. However, not only would this take every last bit of strength he still had, but his split self would be the worst part of him. It would be the manifestation of the worst side of chaos imaginable. It would be the dark, sadistic, and destructive side that strikes absolute fear into the hearts of all ponies and men. However, Discord knew this was the only way to take control of the human world and resolved to do it anyway. This was Discord’s time.
Due to the blanket of darkness given to him by the unusually dark clouds that filled the night sky, he was able to successfully split his soul and send it off without a single detection. A dark mist came out of the mouth of the statue silently and flew up and disappeared into the cold, dark night. It was time for Discord, the Son of Anarchy, to go to work and plunge the entirety of the human world into the oblivion that is chaos.
