They say that everything happens for a reason. My life, albeit strange, follows this pattern. Every man is born with a destiny, as well as a second path that will only lead to his destruction. As I write this I still do not know which path I have traveled.
The path that I traveled is a long windy path with several highlights, so for the sake of time I will start at the most recent point of my life… And the first twist in the path that I followed.

My name is Jack Smith. I lived in Texas, worked as a professional cook at a pretty famous restaurant. I grew used to a normal routine; I’d get up, go to work, and go to bed. Rinse and repeat daily. I was always sad or angry, but I’d put on a happy face and act like nothing had gone on. For you see, I was troubled, my past, while not particularly bad, hurt on a daily basis.

To start with the pain: I was adopted out the day that I was born. I have no recollection of my biological mother, and very little of my biological father.

I had a long history of abuse, whether verbal or literal. My adoptive parents weren't exactly the kindest folk, and the chef that trained me in culinary school was definitely not the nicest fellow on our sweet earth.

In one attempt to stop the pain that was held in my past I decided to turn to the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic community, the bronies. Hoping that their commandments of ‘Love and Tolerate’ would at least slowly ebb the pain away. It only alleviated part of the pain, there was much more to be fixed.

Then on some nights I started to have dreams, in those dreams I saw my biological parents look at me, then start to slowly walk away, I would run after them, but somehow they would still get away and I just stopped, panting. I would then wake up, sweating as if I had actually been running.
Then, one night, something weird happened:

Princess Luna came to me in a dream.
