They Say That Everything Happens For a Reason
Trouble Follows Me Around
Previous ChapterNext ChapterOn my way back from town with my saddlebags full of what all I had apparently brought I contemplated on how bad it would be if these ponies discovered that I knew their future, right as I was about to get to the worst possibility, a package fell on my head, already knowing who had dropped it, I looked up.
“Well, Derpy, I’m gonna guess that you need to deliver this package.”
Derpy looked at me, perplexed.
“How do you know my name?”
Without even thinking about it, I flew up to her and handed her the package.
“Some things I can just guess. Call it magic.”
Once again, she looked at me, at least I think she did, maybe with one eye on me and one eye on the package.
“Uh, what’s your name sir?”
“My fine mailmare, my name is World Walker.”
“Ah, Mr. Walker, would you help me deliver this package, I don’t know exactly where it is intended to go.”
It seemed to me that Derpy Hooves is a lot more intelligent than the fan base made her out to be. Perhaps she’s just clumsy. I don’t really know, she hasn’t delivered anything to the wrong address yet, or broken anything… except for maybe my skull.

Anyway, I read the label on the package, it was to Rarity. No real surprise there, I’ve heard that she tends to outsource things, because buying things from local Ponyville shops is apparently not ‘chic’ enough.
I knocked on Rarity’s door four times, just as I had with Twilight’s. She came to the door and gasped.
“Just what HAVE you done to your mane!?!? Who does your hair?”
“Uh, I do, every morning.”
“It’s wonderful darling! So daring and in your face! As if you just don’t care!”
“Well, I really don’t ca-“
“Darling come in, I see that you have a package for me, and I must make you a suit to match that hair of yours!”
“Uh, thanks I gu-“
“Looking at your color, I think that purple would match best, what do you think darling?”
“Well, purple is my favorite color”
“Mine too darling!”
“Rarity, normally by now you would ask my name.”
“I already know your name Mr. Walker.”
“Wait, how?”
“Mr. Walker, Pinkie was here earlier.”
“I now understand. That crazy one was here. Wait, why was she here?”
“To ask if you had been here yet.”
“Well, Rarity, I really need to get back to Twilight’s, I’ll pick up the suit tomorrow.”
“Very well Mr. Walker.”
I trotted out of the store, but before I left I noticed Sweetie Belle sitting in a corner looking sad, so I walked over to her and asked her what was wrong, I then realized that I didn’t see her with Scootaloo and Apple Bloom. Perhaps the Cutie Mark Crusaders haven’t gotten together yet, or, a more plausible theory, she was grounded. She told me that Rarity had been mean to her, confirming the grounding theory, so I said:
“Family, big sisters included, only want what’s best for you, when I was your age I was a clutz, I had a tendency to break things that I really shouldn’t. At one point I took matters into my own, uh, hooves, and I fixed my posture and decided not to break one more thing. And guess what… I never did.”
She looked up at me and said:
“Really?”
“Yeah Sweetie Belle, I didn’t even have a strong harness of my magic until just a little while ago, don’t feel bad.”
“Thank you mister!”
“Eh, I can never stand to see a pony in need.”

I trotted out the door and back to Twilight’s library. She asked me what took so long, and I told her every single detail.
“Wow Walker, that’s crazy, Derpy, Sweetie Belle, and Rarity all in one short walk. It seems like trouble follows you around.”
“Well Twilight, it seems like it does.”
“Perhaps tomorrow I will be able to check off more of these ponies on my list, and after that onto Canterlot to meet the princesses.”
“But, Walker, why do you need to meet the princesses?”
“They are on my list. At the end. And, Luna came to me in a dream before I was in Ponyville.”
“Well, perhaps I can take you to them, in the interest of learning.”
“Perhaps you can Twilight, perhaps you can.”

Before I went to bed I started thinking:
‘A brony from Texas becomes a pony in Ponyville. If only my friends could see me now! They’d probably think I’m a liar, or that I’m crazy. Probably that I’m crazy. Anyway, into the sweet, warm, embrace of Morpheus.’

And so I slept, and once again I met Luna, this time it felt, somehow, more personal. As if she knew me better than I could ever have known myself.
“Well, what does Twilight call you, Walker? Well, Walker, welcome to Ponyville.”
“Luna, why did you bring me here?”
“I did nothing, you brought yourself, my sister and I just helped you to arrive.”
“Fine then, Luna, why am I here?”
“That you will be told once you arrive in Canterlot.”
“Why not now? This is a private as it can get.”
“There is some information that… That I’d prefer to have my sister around for when I tell you.”
“Why, to restrain me?”
“Perhaps Walker, perhaps.”

Once again I awoke, this time to Twilight Sparkle shoving a clock in my face and asking me how I could sleep in so late.
“Twilight, consider it my gift. The gift of sleep.”
“Nopony has the gift of sleep. That’s impossible!”
“Twilight, I was kidding.”
Twilight looked at me for a second, and then huffed and slammed her hoof into her face.
“Well, I guess we better go talk to Rainbow Dash about getting you some flying lessons.”
Hearing about Rainbow Dash and flying immediately made me think of Top Gun, so I found a cheesy line from the movie somewhere in my memory banks and recited it.
“I’ve got the need. The need for speed!”
“Uh, Walker, that sounds exactly like something Rainbow Dash would say.”
“I had hoped so Twilight, for I get the strangest feeling that we will get along well.”
I said that fully knowing Rainbow Dash, she was almost a parallel to somebody I knew back on Earth. Slightly more egotistical perhaps.
