Shadows of the Past
0000 Prologue: Abandoned, 2500 years ago…
*Crash! *Crackle! *BOOM!!!
Lightning flashed and thunder roared across the black skies. The soaked soil of the earth was pelted by rain and snow without mercy. A light shinned dimly in the distance, the dim light revealed a city. A city like no other, a city filled with life and light. Dull colored creatures walked about through the dark and damp streets, all running to their own destinations. Shaded figures ran amok in the streets. Voices could be heard above; a tower so high laid in center of the city. The voices grew stronger as time went by. The view soon zooms into a lit window, shadows moved within the room.
“What do you mean my love?” a voice said with confusion. “What do you mean you’re leaving?”
The sight slips through the window revealing two other humans. One male, the other female. One was dressed elegantly, royally and divinely, long multicolored hair flowing gently. The other garbed in black and demonic looking armor, blood red spikey hair with white streaks stood still. A black cloak that was draped on his shoulders was billowing lightly from behind.
“Like I said…Auron…I’m leaving…to make more peaceful world. This is too much…too much for me to see. I am sorry Auron but it must be.” The woman said sadly, the male had confusion on his face before turing into a scowl.
“What!? You mean, you are going to leave these lands?! Lands that you’ve kept alive?! If you leave then all hope here will be lost! You, your warming sun as well as our bonded magic are what keep the unforgiving blizzards at bay! Without you, this world will be consumed by it once more!” he said angrily. The other let a tear fall from her eyes, it struck the floor dully.
“I never wanted a world consumed with violence Auron, it is not for me.” she spoke hesitantly, this only further to anger the second.
“You wish to run away from violence?! Blood-shed?! Why?! That shouldn’t be a reason to leave!!!” Auron said, his anger was slowly building up.
“Back then…you and I made a promise to bring true peace…a place without hurt…a world without hate or violence…a place without fear and oppression…” the white one said as she starred at the ground.
“Celestia! I’m sorry but…such peace like that is almost impossible to achieve, wherever there I peace there is chaos. Same goes with wherever there is light, there is also darkness. Plus to hold peace, one must have and enforce power to do so. I cannot uphold a promise from long ago, that is a foolish dream when I thought about as I grew. I am sorry…but I cannot hold up to it…” Auron said sadly, his head was bowed down in guilt.
“Then I will make it, I will succeed where you could not.” Celestia’s voice said sharply. “Goodbye Auron.” She said quickly which surprised him and with a flash of white she was gone.
Auron had a look of shock on his face; he looked around frantically for her. When he truly accepted she was no longer there, something within Auron snapped. Hate. Anger. Anguish. Sorrow. Emotion took over, he breathed deeply as he glared outside the windows. A mass of white was slowly approaching, breaking through the barrier that was placed. His anger and hate soon began to rise to its point, with a loud inhale he screamed to the heavens.
“NRRRRRRG!!! CELESTIAAAAAAA!!!”
Auron’s cry of anguish, anger, and hate could be heard echoing across the kingdoms as the blizzards slowly approached the city of light. Celestia stood upon a hill that gave her a view of the city she had left to vanish. A single tear fell from her eye as she gave a last glance as well as hearing the cry of Auron echoing.
0000 2500 years later…Present Time, Canterlot
Celestia jolted awake in an instant as lightning flashed across the skies followed by the roar of thunder. Rain pelted the window glass of her room. She stretched before leaving her bed and approaching the window slowly. She sat on her haunches and gazed outwards looking down at her kingdom. Something on her chest glimmered brightly; she looked down to see her necklace glimmering from the dim lights given from outside. As she gazed upon it, old memories surfaced.
“Promise?” a child’s voice said with a giggle.
“Promise!” another voice of child replied.
The necklace seemed to glimmer a bit brighter as she continued to gaze at it. It also gave a haunting jingle as well.
“Oh quit being silent Auron. You know it was funny!” a younger voice of Celestia said cheerfully.
*Groan… “How did I end up in these situations…” Auron’s voice groaned with annoyance.
Another sharp glimmer appeared as well as another memory came up in her mind.
“Auron…I…I…” Celestia’s voice came out with a light stutter.
“Hmmm? What is it?” Auron’s voice said curiously.
“I just wanted to say…that…I love you…ever since we met and stayed by each other’s side…I fell for you…” Celestia’s voice said shyly.
A loud roar of thunder soon interrupted her moment in that memory as well as a familiar cry.
“CELESTIAAAAAA!!!!!”
She was instantly taken out from her mind as she instantly let go of the necklace. It was ripped form her neck and clattered against the stone floor. After a few seconds of calm breathing, she bent over to pick up the necklace gently. As she further examined it she muttered one thing.
“I miss you…”
For 2500 years…she had left him. For 2500 years…she had abandoned him. For 2500 years…she has missed him. But…she always wondered though…did he feel the same? Did he even still exist within this world? She would never know at all.
