Twilight Sparkle was flying. Twilight was flying, and she was LOVING it. It all felt so good! The freedom of movement, the wind in her mane! It was exhilarating, even though she was just gliding a short distance away from the ground. As she climbed to higher altitudes and watched the buildings shrink, a wild idea came to her mind. Was speed truly as awesome as Rainbow Dash described it? How was it to fly at a high speed and weave through obstacles? She positioned herself high over Ponyville, and took several deep breaths. "Here goes nothing!" She exclaimed. She tucked her wings in, and dove toward the ground. As she picked up speed her eyes began to tear up from the wind. All of a sudden, she felt a sharp twinge in her left wing. All of the excitement and joy vanished in a moment of sheer horror. Twilight didn't even have time to scream before she hit the ground, and all went black.
Twilight shot up, shrieking. That had felt so real! A cold sweat covered her body. Looking around the room, she saw Spike looking at her worriedly.
"Twilight? Are you alright?" Spike inquired, his voice full of worry.
Twilight lay curled up in a ball, sweating profusely and whimpering. Spike shook her lightly, noticed that it wasn't working and decided to hug her.
"Shhh... It's okay." he cooed, holding her tight. "It was just a dream."
"It felt so real..." she said. Suddenly her eyes brightened "Spike, do we have any books on flight?" she added.
Spike paused, startled by the sudden question. "Jeez, Twi. I have no idea. How about you check the library? Oh right. We live there!" he replied sarcastically.
Twilight chuckled at the dragon's attempt at humor before getting out of bed and stretching drowsily.
"Feeling better?" Spike asked.
"Much better! Let's eat, we have a long day of studies ahead of us!"
