//-------------------------------------------------------// Fallout Equestria: Refuge and Restoration -by Cobalt Jetstream- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Introduction //-------------------------------------------------------// Introduction Since the dawn of ponykind, so long as two ponies have stood on the same ground, somepony wanted the other dead. In the beginning, they used primitive tools and tactics. As time went on, the tools and tactics became more and more advanced, but the principles remained the same, destroy any all who oppose you and those that don't are merely your pawns. For centuries, pony blood has been spilled in the name of everything from love, to religion, to politics. After nearly a millenia of violence, an era of peace united all ponies under two rulers, one of night, one of day. Peace and prosperity reigned over the land as the death rate decreased, the cost of living dropped, and the economy blossomed. All seemed well. All seemed happy. All seemed as if it would remain so until the end of time. But such was not the case, for peace is not the nature of ponykind. A bloody, costly, extensive war ensued between ponies and zebras, a war that lasted nearly a century...until that day. The day atomic fire rained from the sky like deadly, nuclear hail, leveling cities ans snuffing out the fires of millions of lives in an instant. Some prayed. Some cried. Some accepted. But it was not, as some had thought, the apocalypse. Instead, it was merely the next chapter in the bloody story of pony history. Before the end, a few survived the hellfire by seeking refuge in enormous, top secret, buried structures, called Stables. However, when the large doors of these great structures opened, the survivors saw nothing of what the history books had mentioned. Instead, they were greeted with a new hell, a new war, the ever constant and waging war of surviving the wastes. For the residents of Stable Sixteen, their fate was unorthodox from the start. For on the final day of reckoning, whilst the less fortunate perished, a select few were saved...for a different purpose. Survival was never the intention for these ponies. Stable Sixteen was never part of the Stable-Tec program. Stable Sixteen was never owned by Stable-Tec. Stable Sixteen was created not as a refuge...but as a training ground. This is where soldiers were sent. This is where warriors were forged. This is where heroes...will be born... Ooo.......16.......ooO With the end destroying the crucible of battle, a way to preserve the military prowess of Equestria's forces needed to be created and a better form of soldier needed to be bred. Stable Sixteen, according to all records, never existed. The only possible evidence for its creation were censored order documents to a very select few of Equetria's elite and Stable-Tec bank account records that "officially" read a "Stable's worth" of bits was "generously donated by Her Highness for the companies noble actions." A list was comprised, a list containing the names of 400 of Equestria's most elite, high ranking and battle hardened soldiers from every branch. The list was a manifest of ponies to be used for breeding. Stable Sixteen was the new crucible, the new breeding ground, the colossal concrete and metal veil that hid the remains of a destroyed country's final defense. It's goal: to create a small army of the most perfect soldiers to protect and reinforce the new government. The problem: the only beings with knowledge of the passcode to open the Stable...was lost forever. In Stable Sixteen soldiers train, eat, and breed, free to do whatever they please so long as they attend required miscellaneous training. There are few rules. Don't steal, don't kill...don't leave...those who break the rules are court marshaled. The training is rigorous, difficult, hell on earth. Those who fail, at any point, must start over from the beginning. Those who pass move on to the next stage, surgical modification to become what some believe to be only a dream achievement. They become...super soldiers, ready for battle, ready for any situation, ready to terminate all who oppose the crown, down to the very last foal, if necessary. Because the battlefield is ever changing, but war...war never changes... Author's Note I know that phrase is highly overused, but it just fit. I really hope this a decisive improvement over the previous one. I'm open to tips and pointers. And spell checks, definitely spell checks.
