Race Wars I: Two Worlds

8:00 AM Equestria, June 5th 2067:

Fluttershy awoke happily to the sound of singing birds, to some it would be an annoyance. However to her it was pure bliss. Today was the day Rainbow Dash and Twilight were going to show the rest of the group the two had been working on. Something to do with using controlled lightning to increase Rainbow Dashes speed.

8:00 AM CCCAF Thunder, New Alberta System, high orbit above New Edmonton:

Corporal Austin Duke awoke with a start, his alarm had been going off for 10 minutes, which meant his chances at a relaxing wake up had died, and he was instead awoken violently and suddenly by the ultra sonic hum that woke everyone up at exactly 8:00 on the dot (which was still to early in his opinion considering he only got to bed at 2:00) but that’s military life.

He looked to the bunk across from his, Landon had already gone off to his job as one of the ship’s radio DJs.

“Ugh.” Moaned Dave, an engineer aboard the Thunder. Who had apparently hit his head off the bottom Austin’s top bunk when the wake up frequency was broadcasted.

“Ok, it’s the last day before our tour ends.” Austin said quite pleased that he had managed to survive all the bull infantrymen like him had to deal with. With that he got out of bed and made his way to the armory.

In the armory he had a locker, in that locker was his gear. He entered the combo for his lock and began getting dressed.

Pants, boots, under shirt, jacket, bullet proof vest, helmet, and right hand glove. On his left forearm went his T.I.M.S. (Tactical Information Management System), which was more or less an iPhone strapped on like a Pip-boy from Fallout, and his special treat, a plasma claw mount for his T.I.M.S. that he had scavenged from some spec ops spook he got pared up with once.

Next up were his weapons, combat knife that he had no real need for since he had a plasma claw. His standard issue pistol, which could be fired single fire, busts, or fully auto. Finally the coup de grace, his C-28 A3 assault rifle. Which was more or less a bullpup version of the M-16. His assault rifle was fixed with both an under barrel shot gun, and a drum mag, making him essentially a one-man squad.

He turned on the radio of his T.I.M.S. as he might as well here Landon’s report of what he and the rest of the soldiers here would be doing on their last day in this system. As he activated the radio he left the armory and began on his way to the mess hall. Might as well get something to eat right?

As he walked the halls of the Thunder, he glanced out one of the large, mortar proof windows. Space in it’s infinite vastness reached out before him, he could see the other judgment class ships of “weather team” the nick name of this squadron of judgment class ships since they were all named after weather related things. Behind them, he could see a few various battleships, destroyers, and carriers, of the rest of the Canadian fourth fleet. What really grabbed his attention however, was the titanic, gargantuan, heavy dreadnought, The CCCAF Trudeau, which was resupplying. It was a whopping 2 km long, and with it’s massive slanted armor, it looked like something Langdon’s grandfather would have fantasized about in the pre extra solar days, not to mention make him piss himself.

Speaking of Langdon, his voice came over the radio after the Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter” had finished. “GGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOODDDDDD Morning CCCAF Thunder! The ship is at room temperature as all ways, and the weather down surface side is mostly sunny, with a 100% chance of us landing in new Oshawa, there is also a slight chance of apocalyptic fire raining down on the place, but the bulk of the fourth fleet is keeping the enemy on the other side of the sun for the moment, to prevent that. Yes that’s right it’s the day before you go home, and command is sending you to clean up that one cruiser worth of Annunaki holding New Oshawa. But who cares, I’m here playing music, and acting like a prick for your entertainment, so if you have a request just send it down the line, and I’ll get it. If it doesn’t end up being covered in black ink by our oh so active censurer people.” Austin smiled to himself; Langdon would make a joke about a terrible command decision. However, recapturing a city was rather ‘all in a day’s work’, so it wasn’t so bad.

Once he had made his way down to the mess hall, he got a tray, and loaded some food onto it, contrary to what most people think, military rations are actually pretty good, when you had the farms of multiple planets at your disposal, there’s no reason to have your army live off just Bully Beef.

He found his friends, David, Wyatt, and Matthew. “EHHHH! Sup with you guys?” He asked.

Wyatt who was the ships tech support replied. “Well since we are being deployed, I have to deal with all the idiots who brake their T.I.M.S.”

“Oh yeah I’m going to be spending the entire trip back to earth fixing God Slayer APCs that I just finished fixing!” David remarked angrily.

“Just the usual, flying into bail you out.” Said Matthew, who flew the medical-evac V-TOL “30 minutes or it’s free”.

“Well just another day on the job then, right?” Austin joked then took a bite out of his toast.

10:00 AM, Equestria, June 5th 2067

“Ok so basically this is how it’s going to work, I’m going to fly at near sonic Rainboom speeds and when I pass over head, Twi’s going to do her magic thing to make the lightning from that cloud make me faster!” Rainbow Dash said beaming with excitement. The group had gathered in one off the fields surrounding Ponyville to see the new trick.

“Well specifically I will be-” Twilight started but was cut off.

“Yeah Yeah magic stuff just get ready to zap me ok!” Said Rainbow Dash. Then she bolted up into the sky, climbing higher and higher, and then she began to dive bomb the field they had gathered in.

At this time Fluttershy noticed an injured bird struggling to fly, and flew up to see if there was anything she could do to help. Twilight however caste the lightning control spell, which went quite wrong, and the experimental spell sent arcane charged lightning all over.

A bolt struck Fluttershy and in a poof she was gone.

Fluttershy suddenly found herself falling, she looked down and immediately regretted it. The landscape was far below her, and it looked completely alien. It looked like Manehattan had been smeared over the entire countryside, with massive sprawling blocks of buildings. Also very intimidating was the black smoke choking the streets below, the sent of ozone, the loud booming, and the massive dark grey and dark purple thing hovering above the city.

Her fall was abruptly halted when she slammed into the roof of grey flying object about the size of a small house that bore the simple of a red maple leaf on it. She looked on the side of it, the words in clear Equish read: CCCAF Iron Condor: 30 minutes or it’s free. “Oh a condor, that’s an animal, I’m good with animals,” she then crawled up to the front of the ‘Iron Condor’ and said; “Oh hello mister condor, I don’t mean to bother you but would you mind putting me down, if that’s ok with you of course.”

Suddenly a much faster craft also bearing a leaf on it’s side flew overhead, and she was dragged of the side of the condor by it’s wake.

She fell, and as the ground rushed up she realized something horrid, they were fighting!

She hit the ground hard, a few card-bored boxes slightly lessening the impact. She was fading in and out of consciousness, until something tripped over her. “Fuck!”

10:00 AM, New Oshawa, sector 6

Things where going pretty well, he hadn’t had to get medi-vac, and things were so far going as planned. The Anunaki were putting up a stronger resistance than expected, but still things were going to plan.

His mission was pretty simple, plant the mortar he had in his backpack on the roof of this building, then run back to the Thunder, then once they where back command would trigger the mortars, which would take out the enemy cruiser’s engines, so when command wouldn’t miss when they fired a seismic impactor at it, and then everything would be lovely once again.

It was time, “Come at me Alien fuckers!” Austin yelled as he kicked in the door to the roof, and fired his assault rifle at the two Anuniki snipers using the roof. Had they been legit soldiers their armor would have made the attack near useless, but since the snipers had less armor, and were torn to pieces by the normal rounds. He ran over deployed the mortar, changed out his current mag for one full of armor piercing rounds, and then he ran back in the direction of the Thunder, with a path conveniently planned out by his T.I.M.S.

Along the way he encountered 6 Anunaki soldiers, who were pinning down a squad of his fellow soldiers. He fired, downing 2 of them before being forced to continue running, now with 4 hostiles on his ass.

As he ran through an alleyway, he noticed an APC franticly retreating down the road ahead. He ran out of the alley and as he crossed the street, he saw why, the cruiser was firing a high power plasma beam down the roadway.

He increased his speed, so much so that he didn’t notice the cardboard boxes laying in the alleyway he ducked into and tripped over one of them. “Fuck” Today just went from pretty decent, to terrible fast.
