It only takes a second for the wind a rain to drive the pair to seek shelter in the forest.

It only takes a second for lightning to strike.

It only takes a second for a tree to fall.

It only takes a second to for him to push her out of the way with his body.

It only takes a second for him to be pinned.

It only takes a second for her to get up and see him on the ground.

It only takes a second for him to tell her to find shelter and leave him.

It only takes a second for the blood to flow.

It only takes a second for her to tell him that she will always stay beside him.

It only takes a second for him to realize that he is dying.

It only takes a second for him to say, “Carry on,” even when there can be no carrying on.

It only takes a second to gasp a breath as blood fills his lungs.

It only takes a second for him to whisper goodbye.

It only takes a second for her to listen to the last heartbeat of her friend.

It only takes fifteen minutes for a storm to flash by.
