I can finally rest.
I can finally Rest.
Load Full StorySo here I am. Alone. Tired. And happy to finally rest.
What am I resting for? Well I might want to start from the beginning. I was a scientist that was obsessed with the theory of traveling between dimensions. And my colleagues said one thing that helped lead me up to this.
They said I couldn’t do it. They said it was impossible, silly, and ignorant of everything I was taught. I thought differently. I thought of what was impossible and I took chance anyway. But not without a cost. I had made a machine that would allow me to go ANYWHERE in time and space, but I had not thought about the possible side effects. Like it being a one way trip.
“I finally did it! I finally did it!!” The human said bouncing up and done with more excitement in his voice than a five year old on christmas day. The humans comrades just looked to each other before looking to him.
“Finally did what Tom?” One of them asked.
“I made that device that everyone said was impossible!! And I freaking did it!!!” Tom said jumping up and down. Everyone in the room looked to him like he was crazy and shook their heads. “You.... You don’t believe me.... Well if you’re all so skeptical then why don’t I just show you?”
That was my first mistake. I had tested it with a apple first. Success. Then I did it with a cat. Another success. Then...... With a human. Me. Success. Although I forgot about it being a one way trip with no hope of getting back.
I had been stupid enough to put in random coordinates, just to prove I wasn’t crazy. Not only did not help my case, but it ended up throwing me into some random dimension and entering from the sky no less. I had landed in a wasteland. A frozen wasteland with broken ribs, arms, legs, and even possible spine dislocation. I had prayed to god that someone found me to save me or that something come to end me quickly.
Sadly enough... I got both of my wishes. Someone, or somePONY, came along and found me. Dragged me out of the snow and into somewhere warm. I was not exactly sure what was going on, but if it meant my pain ending, one way or another, I was happy about it. But this pony had different plans for me. He was a stallion with a large red horn on his head and a royal-looking cape under his coal black mane. His fangs seemed to gleam in the light as he smiled at me.
“Wh-... Who are you?” Tom asked the pony in front of him. The pony simple smiled and cackled like a maniac.
“Me!? I believe you are in no position to be asking questions creature!” The pony said. He walked over and placed a metal covered hoof on my broken arm before I winced and yelped in pain. He merely cackled again, but more quietly, before he turned and whistled into the darkness behind him.
I had merely seconds to look around the cave like interior before a purple sparkling mist entered view. Before I could say anything the mist overtook me and covered my body. I wanted to scream in fear, but the mist..... It fixed me. It snapped my bones back into place, mended my broken flesh, and kept me alive the entire time.
I heard voices in my head after that. The voice of a woman. Who and what she was. Nightmare moon. An evil entity that wanted nothing more than revenge on those who overthrew her. Normally I would not even listen to such a tale from the lips of an evil being, but this one.... She seem different. As did that evil fellow over there that brought me in from the cold.
She told me of both of them. The lies they spread in my brain. The evil things they told me to do. The things that I... Wanted to do now. And all she wanted from me was a host. Someone through which she could exact her revenge and then she would leave my body. She seemed like she was telling the truth, but then again.... I should have seen it coming that she was a lying bitch.
When I agreed to her terms, she bonded with my body faster than a bolt of lighting. It was slightly painful, but at the same time. Comforting. She changed my body for her purposes though. I grew massive wings from my back and a large horn from my skull. My skin grew out fur that was black as the night sky, and my teeth changed to be fangs. My eyes turned to those of a cat and my body grew to become at least seven foot tall.
I can’t even remember what I looked like before nightmare took my body over. It’s been way too long. Many many years ago. Surprised I even remember this.
“Sister! What is that!?” A midnight blue alicorn said as I broke down the doors clutching one of the guards, whom I had beaten mercilessly, in my left hand.
“I don’t know Luna. But we shall end him here so that he-” The other Alicorn said whom looked to be the polar opposite of her sister.
“I am sick of your ramblings.” I said lobbing the guard like a baseball at the white Alicorn. The guard slammed into her and flung both of them across the room.
“TIA!!” ‘Luna’ Screamed out. Then she turned to me with anger and hatred in her eyes. “YOU SHALL PAY FOR YOUR WRONGDOINGS!!!!!!”
“Oh please.” I said with mine and Nightmare’s voice combined in perfect sync. “You can’t do anything without your precious elements of harmony ott your sister.”
Luna had other plans though. She charged straight at me with a spell powered up on her horn. Instead of actually trying, I merely sidestepped and let her run right past me into a pillar. I laughed as she fell to the ground clutching her head. Using the magic that Nightmare had taught me to use, I brought both of the princesses to my view and smiled evilly.
“What are you!?” Celestia yelled as I smiled.
“Why I am Nightmare Moon! Who else you crazy bitch!?” I yelled back before laughing maniacally.
“I mean what are you that she has possesed!?” Celestia said. I brought her to my face with my smile still there.
“Why I a-... Used to be a human. But now I am something much much better! I am the god of the night!!” I said throwing my arms into the air and laughing again. “And with you two out of the way, I shall be able to cast the night over this land and rule for all of eternity!!!”
I was not myself. I would never hurt something else unless I was under attack. But Nightmare moon. She did nothing but control me like a puppet. Manipulate my thoughts. My actions. My how life. She made me forget who I was. She made me lose the memories of my family. Everything. How I know she did this? The princesses told me. As I was about to kill them....
“Take another step and I will wring your pretty princess’s neck!” I yelled out clutching Celestia by the throat. In front of me were six different ponies, all of which were wearing some kind of jewelry. They stopped in their tracks as I gripped tighter on the princess’s throat.
I smiled at them and said. “That is what I love about you ponies. Can’t and won’t do what needs to be done to save the world if it costs just one life.... NEWS FLASH! I KILLED ALL THE GUARDS!”
The ponies looked to each other and then to me. They had tears and pained expressions in their eyes as they stepped down. Then Celestia said something that made me stop.
“Why are you doing this?” She gasped out as she was holding onto my arm to try and lift herself to breath. I glared at her and said.
“I am doing it because...” I stopped. I didn’t have a reason. Only Nightmare Moon did. For the first time since I began to help Nightmare, I had thought for myself. I stopped smiling and dropped Celestia. She gasped as she hit the floor and I had a blank expression.
‘WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU FOOL!? KILL HER WHILE YOU HAVE THE CHANCE!!!’ I heard Nightmare scream in my head.
“I.... I....” I couldn’t form any words. I looked around the area I was in. It was the royal palace, but greatly damaged from fighting and littered with the bodies of both lunar and solar guards that had done all they could to try and save the princesses. Tears began to form in my eyes as I looked around. “I... I.... I...... I’m.... A monster.”
The tears began to fall as I fell to my knees. I cried out in agony as the realization of what I had done hit me.
Those little ponies didn’t bother taking any chances. They got rid of me as I wept. It was a good thing too. I am pretty sure Nightmare was close to taking control again. They regain control of the kingdom and cleaned up my mess.
Unfortunately, I was not killed. I was... Turned to stone. I was a living statue now. Sitting on a pedestal in the garden with ponies of all types walking by and observing my frozen expression of pain, misery, and woe that I had gotten.
But... There is a good to this. Nightmare is gone. And I can rest. The one thing I wanted to do since this began.
I can finally rest. Just simply. Rest....
Rest... In peace.
