"Balloons..." Pinkie said looking around the room. "check. Streamers..." Pinkie said looking up at the ceiling. "check. Cake..." Pinkie said looking at the Christmas colored cake she made. "check and delicious. That's everything except for party guests." Pinkie said looking happy she was finished. Great, my so called friends. The ones that keep pushing me on dates, double dates, or a blind date that they would trick me onto going. Why can't they see, until there is proof Ezio is dead, i'm not going out with any-- *knock knock* My train of thought was derailed by a loud knocking at the door. -third person view- "Who is it?' Pinkie said as she bounced her way to the door and looking through the small spyglass on the door. "It's Eclipse and Dontoa. Please Pinkie let us in. It feels like eighty below." Eclipse said as Pinkie turned the locks as they made a soft 'click.' "MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!" Eclipse said as he was levitating his secret Santa present for Pinkie Pie. "An hachy newt yearch." Dontoa said with a long black box in his mouth, his secret Santa gift to Rainbow Dash. "Hey Pinkie. Hey Dash. It's freezing out there. I think the Wendigos are ticked." Eclipse said as he kicked the doors closed and levitated the present on the candy cane color table. "Hey Dash. How ya holdin on?" Dontoa said approaching the sad mare. "Same as yesterday. Missing Ezio." Rainbow Dash said with her head down. "Well i'm sorry for that. I think you'll like my present now." Dontoa said nuzzling the small box towards Rainbow Dash as she opened it and pulled out a necklace with a gold chain tied to a hole above above the strange words. "San Expedito. What's that?" Rainbow Dash said as she look at it in a confused way. "San Expedito, according to Ezio, is the patron saint of good luck. Occasionally, before he left to go somewhere, he would pray to this necklace. He might have been talking Spanish every time, but I know he prayed for luck every time. He gave it to me and Eclipse as a memento if he didn't come back." Dontoa said looking down as Rainbow Dash gave him a massive hug. "Thank you Dontoa. I love it." Rainbow Dash said with tears going down Dontoa's back. Hours passed and soon Applejack, Fluttershy, and Twilight arrived at Sugercube Corner even though every minute, the temperature dropped until the thermometer couldn't go any lower. "Great party as always Pinkie Pie." Twilight said as yelp of pain split through the music. "Well I see Gummy got a little bit of teeth." Eclipse said keeping his new bloody hoof of the ground. "Dude that doesn't look good. I think you gotta get that checked out." Dontoa said inspecting Eclipe's wound. "Wouldn't go out there. Weather Team brought a snowstorm this afternoon." Rainbow Dash said getting her mouth out of a glass of punch. "Then how's Rarity gonna get here." Pinkie Pie said as her hair fell and on cue the door flung open to show a frozen haired unicorn. "I ccccant mmmove mmyy tteeettthhh." Rarity said as her teeth chattered like a skeleton. "Well speak of the fashionista." Dontoa said as she slowly made her way of the fire. "Well now that everypony's here. Let's party!!" Pinkie Pie said as she jumped in the air and the music started playing. Everypony was dancing and laughing except Rainbow Dash who was looking out the window and staring at Ezio's necklace. "Ezio, where are you?" She said with a tear. //-------------------------------------------------------// Last day at Ponyville //-------------------------------------------------------// Last day at Ponyville (Rainbow Dash's P.O.V.) Where'd you go. I miss you so, seems like forever, that you've been gone. Never thought those words from my favorite song would sting my brain as it bounced around the walls of my head. I can still remember the day before Ezio left. -Years ago before Ezio left- "It's funny because it's really happened. I have scar to prove it." Ezio said I as failed to hold back my laughter. It's always nice of Ezio to blow off his (unofficial) Wonder Bolt training to help me carry my stuff to my new cloud house after a storm destroyed my old house. "Excuse me. Are you Evonchae Ocrassen?" A camouflage furred stallion with an army hat as a cutie mark asked Ezio. "Depends who's asking. Are you with the FBI?" Ezio said as I stood next to Ezio. Mostly wondering if he was joking about the FBI thing. "Evonchae Zeroxio Izesel Ocrassen, you've been called back to war and will be stationed at Base 53 until you have either been discharged or the conflict is resolved. You leave tomorrow at exactly 15:00 hours. Enjoy your remaining time here." The camouflage stallion said trotting off. "Ezio...." I couldn't even speak. "Okay little thing I never told you. I used to be part of the army until I was twenty one. Then my job was done. They said they wouldn't call me to war ever again." Ezio said as he threw a bag of Dash's stuff around him. "But if I'm leaving tomorrow, doesn't that mean I can't live it up today." Ezio said staring at me but I kept my head down. I couldn't believe it. Why in hay would he keep something as big as this from me. "Dash...Dash.....Rainbow Dash!!!" Ezio said taking Rarity's voice -Present time- "Rainbow Dash darling. Are you alright? Are you sick? Rarity said putting her hoof on my head. "I'm fine. Just lost in thought I guess." I said as a slumped back in my seat. "The cupcakes are done!" Pinkie said coming out of the kitchen with Spike on her back carrying drinks with steam coming from the cup. I don't know when, but before I knew it, I was standing next to Ezio. "Come on angel. I got less then twenty-four hundred hours left in Equestria and I plan on making the most of it." Ezio said as I watch him him dart off towards the edge. "Ezio this is crazy. I LOVE IT!!" I said me and him jumped from the ledge of the tallest point in all of Equestria and land in a large bail of hay. "Haha that was EPIC!!!" Ezio said as he helped me up from the needle hay. "Ezio..." I started to say but couldt finish. "What Dash?" Ezio said as he looked me in the eyes. "Please be careful when your gone." I said as tears flowed my eyes. "Dashie I sweat that she I come back, its you and me all day I sweat. Now come on. Gotta have fun on my last day in Ponyville." Ezio said as I ran behind him. Rainbow Dash said lying through her teeth as the tv starting flashing with the news logo. "We have terrible news to all. As it looked like the light at the end of the VDE tunnel was glowing and glowing. It shut off. We have just received a flight down from chopper 5312, which was the same plane the survivor of the VDE was on. Which makes the death toll of the base 53 soilders 5,000." Everypony looked at Rainbow Dash, and had a right to. She couldn't believe what she heard. She was gonna break down into tears until the news reporter put her hoof to her earpiece and started talking. "What? That's great news." She then turned her attention to the camera. "Mares and stallions I have just received word that there were only two bodies in the crash with fresh hoof prints in the ground and with no other body found in a mile radius, the officers have started to believe that the survivor survived death a second time. After following the hoof prints for several feet, they have come to believe that he has wondered into the Everfree Forest." The reporter said as the logo flew onto the screen and played them out. "Almost home Ezio. Almost home." Rainbow Dash said as she closed her eyes and went to another flashback, except despite being happy, she remembered one of the saddest moments of her life. The day Ezio left. The time was 3:00 pm, or by military standards 1500 hours. The sun beat down on the gravel runway laid as all of Ezio's friends lined up on the side. At the end of a runway laid a massive jumbo jet able to carry hundreds of stallions and mares, and at the other end stood a young stallion wearing a gold necklace, a military uniform, and carrying a green burlap sack across his body who went by the name Ezio. As Ezio made his way down to the jumbo jet he stopped by each of his friends starting with Dontoa and Eclipse. "Be careful brother. Don't get shot and don't drop the soap. Wait that's for prison. Still, don't drop the soap." Dontoa said trying to hard to mask his sadness. Maybe a little too hard? "Don't die Ez. We still gonna need your help with the band." Eclipse said trying to mask his sadness. Not hard enough. "Whoa guys. Don't all mushy on me." Ezio said as the brothers gave Ezio a huge hug. "Before I go there's one thing I wanna give you." Ezio said removing the golden necklace around him and handing it to his brothers. "San Expedito, patron saint of good luck. Take good care of it." Ezio said as he walked to his sister Applejack. "Take care sis." Is all Ezio could say. "Only if ya promise not to go and get shot. Applejack said giving her long lost brother a hug. Then Ezio made his way to Rarity. "You think you can live without me getting your supplies for a couple of months." Ezio said as Rarity looked at him. "I can cope. I'm sure I can get Eclipse to do it for me." Rarity said laughing with Ezio. "I have not notice this Ezio, but camo complements you perfectly. When you get back, from now on, everything I make for you will be camo." Rarity said as Ezio made his way to Pinkie Pie. "Be super-duper extra mega safe Ezio." Pinkie Pie said with her head down. "So what do you want for your welcome back party. Cupcakes, cakes, my punch nudge nudge wink wink.' Pinkie said with a smile on her face but still had her hair down. "Surprise me Pinkie. I'll be back." Ezio said giving her a hug good-bye. "It's gonna be hard to get along without your sweets." Ezio said going over to Twilight. "Good-bye Ezio. I want you to take this." Twilight said floating a book to Ezio's bag. "Redemption. Twilight I can't take this." (Just so you know what Redemption is. It's about a mare who simply gives up on life and love and commits suicide from the tallest building in her town and jumps. She wakes up in a hospital to find out she failed a her death and tries to go back to her normal life buts starts getting called 'suicider'.) "I know it's one of your favorite books, so I thought let him have it while he's gone." Twilight said with a smile. "Be careful Ezio. Lot's of ponies are going to miss you while you're gone. Just come home safe please?" Twilight said giving him a hug good-bye hug and watch him walk over to Fluttershy. "Ummm Ezio....just don't hurt a lot of ponies okay." Fluttershy said giving him a hug good-bye and watch him walk over to the final one on the line, Rainbow Dash. "Rainbow Dash.." Ezio said looking at Rainbow Dash who had her head down. "Dash.. I know you're upset, but I need you to be strong, okay. I won't lie, I gonna be gone a long time, but not eternity. I swear on my life I'll see you again. Either hell or high water." Ezio said trying to cheer the sad mare up, and it mostly worked. "I I I...just please come back okay." Rainbow Dash said as she pushed Ezio away and flew to her cloud house. "OCRASSEN! WHEN I SAID 1500 HOURS I MENT 1500 HOURS! GET YOUR FLANK ON THIS PLANE OR ELSE!!" A stallion screamed out of the jumbo jet. Ezio did as was told and stepped on the plane. The cargo door slammed shut cutting of view from the black and red mane Pegasus. Why in hay did I do that. No even giving I sign that I was gonna miss him. I must be the worst mare in all of Equestria. Even Trixie would've told him good-bye. I bet if he did come back, we wouldn't be together anyways. //-------------------------------------------------------// Decorations //-------------------------------------------------------// Decorations The Valentine Day explosion. It's have been two years and ten months, but I'm not counting. My coltfriend, Ezio, joined the military so he can protect the innocent. He was stationed at Base 53 , or as most people call it, VDE ground zero. I'm not sure if Ezio dead or not. The government won't let out the names of the dead solders but they said one survived. Unlike everypony else, I have not lost hope that my coltfriend is dead. They all tell me to move on and meet new stallions,but not until I know what happened to him. "Ugh.." I sit here and watch a rerun of Saturday Night Live as they make a joke about V.D.E. "Sorry Dashie." Pinkie Pie said as she almost tripped over her as she watched the television. "Sorry Pinkie I'm still sad over Ezio." I said as I helped Pinkie set up the decorations for her Christmas party. "Dashie. I think it's time to let go. There were over five thousand soldiers at Base, even I wouldn't bet Ezio's alive." Pinkie said as her hair fell down as the T.V. started flashing. "Two years and ten months since the most horrific attack on the military ever and finally light has shined in this dark tunnel Dianne." I stopped what I was doing and dashed to the T.V. "Today the Kazzopaloss Hospital announced that the survivor of the Valentine Day explosion as came out of his coma this morning and was on the first plane he could get after finishing his mental exam and physic exam, but still the government still won't announce who the survivor is or--" I turned the T.V. off knowing that somehow Ezio was on that ploane. "Dashie. I know what you're thinking, but please give up. You're torturing yourself on Ezio being alive. Now can you please help blow up the balloons?" Pinkie said as I made my was over to a small crate of balloons that said 'Merry Christmas' in white ink. "Please get here fast Ezio." I said under my breath and I inhaled a deep breathe of air then blower into the nozzle of the balloon and watched it grow larger and larger.
