Mordecai: Last Of The Dinorex

Chapter II: The Others

It was now getting to somewhere from 8pm to 9pm. He had now travelled 23 miles away from his house.

Meanwhile, where Spike was, he had given up now, and started to walk back, he got 8 miles.

Mordecai noticed something moving up ahead, way up ahead, about a mile. "HEY!" he shouted, he started sprinting.

Spike turned around, "What?" he said. Something was running towards him. "Who is that?" he said.

Mordecai was really close to him now, who was this? "HEY!" he shouted again, he'd found someone, he looked like a Dinorex, except, he must not be one, because all Dinorex are pink. He was purple, and he had green spikes on his head and back.

Spike stood still, at this new sight, he'd never seen anything like it before. "Hello?" he shouted.

Mordecai was running too fast, and when he was close to the creature, he found he couldn't stop. *Crash*

"Ow" said Spike, standing back up.

"Oh my goodness, someone else, where…how…sorry' he coughed' My name is Mordecai, and you?" he said, he was way too exited.

"My name is spike, and what are you?" said Spike.

"Me? I-I'm a Dinorex, why?" Mordecai said, this Spike character looked the same age as him.

"I thought Dinorex were extinct" Spike said.

"I've been living on my own for 12 years." he said, Spike suddenly looked really scared,

"Wait a second, don't D-D-Dinorex eat dragons?" he said.

"Not that I'm aware of, and if we did, why would I eat you, I've only just met you, and I've not seen anyone since my mother…" he trailed off, he still didn't know what happened to his mother.

"Don't knowyour mom, eh?" asked spike.

Mordecai's day dreaming was cancelled, "What? Erm, no, she left I think, or passed on, I'm not sure, I know my dad left and didn't come back…" he trailed off again.

Spike took a step further towards Mordecai, "Hey, do you wanna come with me back to Ponyville, Twilight would love to see a species that is still around, if that makes sense?" he said.

"It does, sort of anyway." said Mordecai. He and Spike started walking back the way Spike had come-the way back to Ponyville. On the way, Spike could've sworn he'd heard someone shouting his name, he shrugged it off, and carried on walking.

After a few seconds, he knew someone was actually saying his name, and it was probably Twilight, she had probably followed him. "SPIKE!" he heard, seeing a purple blur running towards him, and the now seemingly terrified Mordecai. But of course, he'd never seen a pony, so it was strange for him.

"C'mon, dude, it's just Twilight, she couldn't hurt a fly, or does that describe Fluttershy better?" he questioned himself, since Mordecai was a Dinorex, he had the ability to make his body look like a rock, and he had done so.

Twilight finally reached Spike's location, "Spike?' she asked, 'why are you talking to a rock?" she said panting, it was a long way.

"Well, it's not a rock, it's a Dinorex!" he shouted, Twilight looking even more confused.

"Spike, that, is, a, rock." she said. Spike nudged the rock, and Mordecai kicked one of his legs. Twilight gasped as Mordecai unfolded from his naturist form of a rock into his usual Dinorex self. "It can't be, Dinorex are extinct!" she squealed.

Twilight started jumping, "Oh my gosh, Princess Celestia-" she was cut off, when a blinding light appeared behind her. The flash went away, revealing a large, white alicorn, with a cloud-like mane. Princess Celestia.

"Princess!" Twilight shouted, before silencing herself in the presence of royalty.

"Twilight Sparkle, I have read your recent letter, a little off track, but good, a lesson learnt. Now I'm here for a brief moment to explain why Mordecai is here-" Celestia looked at Mordecai, he cut her off.

"How do you know my name, I thought you were a legend!" he shouted.

"And many ponies think you are also a legend, now, your mother-" again, Mordecai was inpatient,

"My mother! What happened to her?" he said, then he looked at spike, who made a shush motion with his claws.

"Well, if you will let me continue, your mother, before she passed on, asked of me, if you were to ever leave your home, to guide you to Ponyville, and make sure you never got into trouble, and I have obliged, so will you continue with Twilight, my faithful assistant, and her assistant, Spike to Ponyville?"

Shocked at her tremendous lecture, all Mordecai could do was nod lightly, and say, "I'm not alone."

He was not alone in the world.

"I must go now, I have various duties to perform." said Celestia, leaving in a flash, smaller than the one she arrived in.

"Well, urm, should we go back to the library now, Twilight?" asked Spike, but Twilight seemed too interested in Mordecai to notice, then Mordecai spoke,

"Twilight, I assume is your name?" she nodded. "Well, can we go to this er library now, like spike said?" he asked.

Twilight stopped looking happy, and said, "Oh, yeah." she closed her eyes.

"Spike, why is she-" Mordecai said, before cutting himself off at the sight of Twilights horn glowing, and suddenly everything went a white-static sort of colour.

"what happened?" shouted Mordecai. Then shapes started to mould, and books appeared in shelves.

"Yeah, that can happen if it's the first time you teleport." said Twilight.

Mordecai was dazed for a few minutes, then he walked over to, what he could only assume, the front door.

"Your curious, aren't you?" she asked.

Mordecai said "I want to see Fluttershy" which made Twilight concerned,

"How do you know about Fluttershy?" she said.

"Spike said their name, I think they're a girl" he said, looking though the door's window.

"Okay then" she said, opening the front door,"But there is one thing I need to do before we leave" she said. She went up some stairs. "I'll be about 5 minutes" she said, leaving Mordecai and Spike's view.

"So, how is it here?" he said. Spike looked like he'd been in a trance since the teleport, he awoke

"Huh, oh it's nice. Twilight has tons of friends, there are some who call themselves the mane 6." he said. Mordecai took a seat on a couch.

"So, do you know any abilities I have?" he said. Spike looked confused,

"Other than the fact you can turn into a rock?" he said, trollingly.

"Well' said Mordecai 'I can drink lava, but I prefer not to, it has a weird aftertaste. I can also-hold on" he stopped speaking.

Spike's face went to shock to see all of Mordecai's scales moving, like water, then suddenly, he vanished. "Tada!" he shouted. Spike still in awe.

"Whoa, dude-that's creepy." he said.

"I know right, I can turn invisible, basically, I just make it so my scales turn a colour your eyes can't perceive as being an actual colour." Spike looked confused,

"So, you just, erased your colour?" he asked, trying to make sense of it, he didn't know where Mordecai was, if he was invisible. Suddenly he appeared again, right next to Spike,

"So, what can dragons do?" he said.

"Well, I can't turn into rocks, or go invisible, but I can swim in lava, and I'm not like other dragons, because I live with ponies, and I ACTUALLY HAVE EMOTIONS" he said, when he said the emotion thing, he seemed to sound a little bit annoyed.

"Okay, I think you should know one more thing" said Mordecai, Spike looked at him again,

"Yes?" he said. Mordecai said

"Well, I've never seen anyone in my life, and im 22, and I've only ever seen my mom once, I cant quite remember what she looks like, I can only remember when I look at this picture…" he trailed off, finding his inventory, he opened his bag.

He rummaged around, and picked up a small frame, he handed it to Spike. "This is her?" he asked. Mordecai nodded, taking back the picture, it was a drawing, made with custom pastels.

"I have no idea what happened to her, I just know that she is… not in this world…" he said.

Twilight appeared at the top of the stairs, "Spike, I need you to send this letter to Princess Celestia." she said.

Mordecai watched Spike walk upstairs, and grab the neatly folded letter, and held it in front of his mouth, and burped. A green flame came out of his mouth, and the letter disappeared.

"Wow, I didn't know you can send messages with... fire-burps" said Mordecai, instantly cheering up.

"Well, Mordecai, I am ready, Spike is ready, and are you ready to go and see Fluttershy, and the others?" she asked.

"Others?" he replied.

Spike walked downstairs with Twilight, "Yeah, there's Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Rarity." he said. When Spike said Rarity, he stopped and started thinking.

Twilight walked over to Mordecai, and whispered in his ear, "He has a crush on her" she said. Spike was still glaring in the same direction, before becoming conscious once more, when Twilight shouted his name, he sat on her back.

Twilight walked over to the front door, and used her magic to open it. She didn't close her eyes, 'Maybe she didn't need to use as much power?' thought Mordecai. He walked up to the front door, "I-I'm ready." he said, as he walked out of the front door.

Already he could see around ten to twenty ponies, he was getting strange stares from them. "Don't worry, they've just never seen a Dinorex." said Twilight.

"Yeah, figured that" he said.

After a few minutes of being directed towards a massive tree, hollowed out, with windows and a door, Mordecai quickly ran up to it, he looked back at Twilight and shouted "This one, right?" she shouted yes back to him. He Knocked on the door, waiting for a reply.

"Hello?" he said. Still waiting, from behind him, he heard a small gasp. He turned around to see a shocked looking pony, with wings, she was yellow, and had a butterfly mark on her flank. "Hello?" said Mordecai once more.

"Hello…" he heard her say quietly.

"Erm, my name is Mordecai, and I'm a Dinorex. Your Fluttershy, correct?" he said.

Well, he remembered how Spike had a secret crush on Rarity. Yeah, he had a sudden crush on said pony in front of him, she looked timid, and she was really shy, but she was sweet-and cute.

"Yes, I'm Fluttershy, may I ask why you're here?" she said. Mordecai only just realized that he had been staring into her eyes for the past twenty seconds.

"I-Oh, ur, sorry, I am here to see you really, just because you're the first one the mane 6 I've heard about, other than Twilight."

Darn this pony, with her cuteness abilities. 'Well, my heart just melted.' he thought to himself.

"Okay, what do you want to talk about?" she asked.

What he said next he regretted with all of his soul, "Do you like me?" Fluttershy seemed taken aback by this,

"What do you mean?" she asked.

Twilight and Spike were giggling in the distance, which didn't help. "As a friend?" he fixed the situation rather well, actually.

"I suppose so, but I'd have to get to know you more some other time, I'm afraid. I have to feed the birds." she said, trotting past him, It was nice meeting you" she said.

Mordecai said his goodbyes, and retreated to Twilight and Spike, he said in a playful tone "Confound that pony, with her adorableness!" which made Spike laugh even further.

"Is it me, or does everyone have a secret crush on someone?" Spike said laughing, Twilight just blushed.

"Well, lets go to see the others." she said, Spike agreed, and so did Mordecai, so they set off again.

'I can tell, right now, that I' gonna have a really good time here!' thought Mordecai.
