When the timberwolf Firefly goes hunting one night in the Everfree forest, she discovers a small pony filly cowering among the trees. Trained to hunt and kill ponies, the timberwolf knows she is supposed to murder the filly by order of the Father of the pack. But she cannot help feeling strangely connected to the small pony, and instead takes her out of danger. Beginning to trust the wolf, the filly tells Firefly about the wonders of the pony world, making Firefly dangerously curious.
Soon, she begins to question the reasoning behind the mindless slaughtering of equines, as well as the timberwolf Father’s reason to lead.
Little does Firefly know who she really was before she was first formed as a timberwolf, or why the Father of the timberwolves has a murderous grudge against ponykind…
