“How is it I ended up in this situation” I couldn't help but say to no one as I stared at the bodies surrounding me none of them familiar just a mass of pegasus bodies clad in golden armor giving the same blank terrified stare. Shoving aside my moment of weakness I knew I had a job to finish a mission handed down by my one lord and ruler and I was going to see it through my squad was counting on it I may not know most of them as well as I would have liked when starting this damn mission but I was not going to fail them. Moving through the long hallway leading to the throne room of canterlot castle I couldn't help but remember everything that had led to this moment and the big reason I was doing all of this, hard to believe it was already about five years since his queens return and here they were so close to the victory that they deserved and yet my mind wouldn't stop thinking about all the things that had led to this moment. “cant dwell on the past to much must finish the mission”. Stopping for just a second to look at my reflection I smirked a little there I was standing there a tall and strong earth pony dressed from back hooves to front in midnight blue fatigues, even wearing the uniform I could see my own dark blue coat underneath my light golden mane cropped short with a beret perched on top. The beret bore the insignia of the lunar commandos, I could see the cutie mark that adorned my flanks a slab of earth with multiple cracks through it which yes is a confusing cutie mark but not to those who had faced me in the field of battle being former equestrian military Ive seen to much battle to be disturbed by death. Finally reaching the door to the throne room I put my front hoof on the door and pushed immediately followed by a cool yet calculating voice “Hello commander Terra”.
-Flashback 7 years before-
“oh come on mom ill be just fine dont cry I promise ill be back after this last mission” There I was standing in front of my crying mother trying to comfort her I knew she would be fine but I also knew why she was close to hysterical, it had been only a month since my father died overseas in gryphon territory he was part of a special order in the equestrian military a place for gifted ponies and no one was more gifted then the powerful pyrite he was gifted with magic so amazing and effective that he was almost instantly made commander of his unit. But even the powerful fall victim to death and pyrite was no exception not a month later and here I was suited in the same green fatigues that he had sported before me the gold beret on my head bearing the mark of the sun also marking me as a soldier of celestia our great sun goddess. My mother being a little better now smiled at me “Terra you better come back and I better not here a maybe you will be back your sister and I wouldn't be able to live without you around”.
At the mention of my little sister I couldn't help but lean down and nudge the little crying ball of light blue fur that was wrapped around my front hoof “come on trixie I'm sure my hoof isn't that comfortable get your tiny butt up here” I said lifting her trembling form up and throwing her on my back where she immediately latched onto me and wouldn't let go “please Terra don't go trixie doesn't want to lose you too please stay” her words they seemed to drive a nail into my heart because I knew what I must be putting them both through but I had to do this “don't cry anymore trixie remember what I told you your the Great and Powerful Trixie greatest showmare in all of equestria and you have to be strong for mom while I'm gone I promise ill be back and when I return ill make sure to teach you my ground trick you just have to be the tough one for awhile and remember no one can hurt you as long as you have your family”. She smiled a little more with each word I said and it did my heart good to see her so excited to get back to practicing her tricks once more so with one more hug to each of them and a promise that I would be back I left my childhood home in canterlot and headed for my future as the newest member of the golden sun brigade and I would do my fathers memory proud.
As I walked I couldn't help but notice that I was being tailed by quite a shady looking unicorn in a long black cloak, stopping I whirled on the unicorn stallion standing before me his horn was glowing a dull Grey and his face said im going to rob your ass. Sighing I stared the mugger down my eyes flaring to life as I brought my front hooves up and slammed them down on the ground showing this fool why my cutie mark was a slab of earth, as my hooves made contact the concrete below the foolish stallion began to shake and rumble fiercely the man had maybe three seconds to open his mouth to question before the slab of concrete he was standing on burst up into the air cracking him in the face and chipping the tip of his horn right off. With the fool passed out I felt the need to tie him down so somepony else could deal with him “well here I go I'm gonna make you proud dad just like you wanted ill make sure trixie and I make you the proudest father ever” with that last proclamation I hurried on to headquarters to meet my new team.
