Entering The Void
Decisions
Previous Chapter**Entering The Void - Decisions

Decisions. Something I have never acquired during my time here in this void. The only decisions I can make are equal to the miniscule tasks of a foal or a full grown pony would undertake. Waking up and taking care of business, and figuring out what to do while I float aimlessly in this abyss are my only decisions I can make. Everything else is either forced upon me or it's my duty to do such an act. Guarding this damned void like a hawk is my only true duty to accomplish. Every day! It's the same routine!
Enough with my ranting, I remember when I was able to make my own decisions. These decisions led to the reasons of my fear of other ponies. It was a beautiful day and I remember this one particular filly...
The young guardian colt was walking through a large corridor filled with paintings of the two majestic rulers of the land. He was intrigued by how many artists worked on projects for the princesses. The colt evaluated the features of each painting with intense concentration. The color, the pose, the unity, and the variety; all of these were what the colt viewed each painting as. He became so interested in the paintings that he began to lose himself in them. He felt as if he was truly part of the image; able to control his own pose with his own colors. He was snapped out of his art-induced trance by the clambering of hooves approaching his immediate location. Reacting to this as a threat, the colt hid behind one of the statues in the hallway. His previous assumption was erased when he heard the sound of Celestia shouting his name. Feeling safe once again, he rushed towards the sound of her voice. Celestia then spots him and meets him half way. They embrace in a gentle, uplifting hug. She says,
"I was worried about you my colt. Your safety is always on my mind; just like the rest of my subjects, however, you are family!" She giggled at the last few words of her sentence.
The young colt gazed up and hugged her tighter. Celestia felt his emotions pouring out and venting into the embrace. She decided to give him a 'decision'. To emphasize on this, she ended the embrace and announced,
"My colt, I feel you need to find other ponies to befriend. They will show you compassion, care, and love for who you are and not your relations to me. Go my colt, make a decision."
The colt looked up and then nodded vigorously. He proceeded to carry out his objective by leaving castle grounds. As he did this, the colt wondered why Celestia wanted him to do this. He already had a couple friends in the castle. Solar Flare was one of his best friends. Together, the two would always pull pranks on Princess Luna because she was the easiest to prank. The colt still wondered why she told him to leave...Did she not want him around anymore? The colt quickly shoved the vile thought of him being thrown out as a outcast.
He decided to complete his objective by going to the Royal Canterlot Public Park. The park was definitely royal and majestic as its stated. The park was a solid green filled with every sort of safe playground attraction you could find: swings, racetrack, and a large skyscraper slide. It also had many trees to climb on and a pathway for those who wanted to walk the trail. When he entered the gates of the park, he saw a young filly; singing a song to those who were present.
- I once was lost...
but now I'm found...
was blind,
but now...
I see! -
Her voice trembled at the last two lines; chilling every aching bone in the colts body. Her voice was music to his ears, however; others thought she was a terrible singer; throwing insults at her. The colt decided this was needed to be stopped, so he stepped in to defend her honor...
"YOU ALL SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES! THIS FILLY SANG HER HEART FOR ALL TO HEAR AND YOU STOMP HER FOR THIS? I SHOULD GET CELESTIA TO CAST YOU ALL TO THE DUNGEONS!" the colt shouted in his royal canterlot voice.
The crowd that was gathered was immediately shell-shocked from the colt. Only royalty was able to possess the 'voice of a thousand earthquakes'. The filly on the other hand was surprised she was being defended by royalty. Most of the crowd had dissipated except three colts who were not flustered by the colt's voice. The three announced,
"Why are you defending such a poor excuse of a filly? She is a delinquent!" one of the colts said.
"Yeah what he said," the other two said in unison.
The anger flared inside the young colt as he turned to face his adversaries. He said a loud voice of defiance,
"You inconsiderate fools! This filly here is talented, well-mannered, and cares about her singing to the point where she will one day become famous. You vile ponies on the other hoof are poor, unaccomplished, self-centered, losers who bully others to stroke your own egos. It's funny and ironic that you three probably had to cheat through foals care!"
The bullies were unable to even comprehend what he said. After a few seconds, they realized what he truly meant and rushed towards him. Little did they know, a guardian always prepares himself. Seeing this as an opportunity, the colt magically pulled out his dual scimitars and was in a defensive stance. The bullies stopped their charge and redirected to a nearby tree line. The colt saw this and shouted,
"What's the matter, can't put your words into action? You heathens are scaredy flanks!"
The colt returned his gaze back to the filly, who was tearing up at the site of him. She yelped as she realized he was looking at her. She turned away from his gaze and was blushing furiously. The colt responded in a way no pony else who was royalty would even consider. He said in a soothing voice,
"Look at me please..."
She looked up at him.
"Are you alright?"
She nodded very slowly and then looked at the ground again. She suddenly gasped when she felt the colt hug her tightly. As the colt hugged her, he felt her pain, sadness, and grievances. It was almost like a aura, but it never seemed to truly show itself. As the embrace ended, the filly glared at the colt and said,
"T-than-nk you..."
The colt waved his hoof and said,
"No problem. What is your name?"
The filly stuttered,
"My na-aame is-s Green Sky."
"That's a beautiful name," the colt replied. Green Sky blushed furiously at his compliment. The colt continued,
"I would tell you my name, but I've never truly had one," the young colt said and looked down at the cold earth. The filly saw this and with concern she said,
"I know this may be too personal but why?"
The colt stammered, "I - I don't know. My n-new parent nicknamed me and I'm now her son."
"May I ask who your new parent is?" The filly asked.
"Promise me you won't think of me any different?"
Green Sky nuzzled the colt and said, "I promise."
He gulped and mustered, "Princess Celestia."
Green Sky gasped at this and said,
"Your new parent is Princess Celestia?!"
"Is it a bad thing?" The colt asked; confused at her excitement.
"Not at all! No wonder you're so strong, kind, and..." She paused and then said, "cute." Green Sky blushed at this, almost resembling the color of a tomato.
The colt blushed at her kind words and then nuzzled her with affection. Green Sky gasped at the sudden contact and then sighed as she returned with a nuzzle. They stayed in an comfortable embrace before she finally asked,
"What's your nickname?"
"Well it's ironic to this situation..."
"How ironic is it?" Green Sky asked.
"Think of the most ironic thing and then try to think of something that could top it. That would be how 'ironic' my nickname is."
Green Sky let his words sink in and started to put on her best thinking face ever. As the colt saw her, he couldn't help but chuckle at the pout-like face she was making. After a minute passed, Green Sky gasped and understood how ironic it could be. She then said,
"Well its probably very ironic," She giggled and then hugged him.
The colt sighed as he fell into her embrace. They stayed like this for a few minutes, watching ponies pass and time fly by them. The colt then looked over at the filly and said,
"My name is Guardian."
The filly smiled at him and gave him a peck on the cheek. Guardian noticed this and hugged her tightly. She sighed and said in a calm tone,
"You're my guardian..."
Again are you serious? I think this is the mare that I've been dreaming of! This is great! I know her name now! Mental Note: Green Sky is her name. I should ask Princess Celestia to see if I could meet her; she said my time was soon up in the void right? I will see you soon my Green Sky...I will.
