It was just another average day in Ponyville. The birds chirping, ponies going about their business, and Rainbow Dash was doing her usual stunt routine. But this time, she decided to try and accomplish a sonic rainboom. Rainbow was climbing higher and higher into the sky as one excited little filly and her two friends watched. "Are ya sure she's really going to do it, Scootaloo?" Asked the yellow filly "of course she'll do it, Applebloom! She's Rainbow Dash, the fastest flyer in all of equestria!" Replied Scootaloo, a bit irritated by Applebloom's skepticism "but what about all those other times she tried and didn't do it?" asked Applebloom "she's going to do it" Scootaloo said quickly. "Look! She's coming back down!" said Sweetiebelle, the third in the trio. All three of the fillies looked into the sky and saw a rainbow blur accelerating downwards and a cone started to form at the nose of it. Just then she broke the sound barrier and a loud explosion with a rainbow circle expanding followed. The trio stared in awe as they watched it happen, while Rainbow Dash was gently gliding down towards them. She noticed that the trio was speechless and said "it was pretty awesome wasn't it?" "Yes!" replied Scootaloo, being the first to break out of their trance "I knew you'd like it, Scoots" said Rainbow as she rustled Scootaloo's mane. Then Rainbow flew away because she needed to do other things.
"It's getting pretty late" inquired Sweetiebelle
"yeah, I should be getting home too"
"Wait! Uhh I'll come with you, Applebloom!" Scootaloo said quickly
"well thanks Scoots! But we can't have a sleep over"
"that's okay, I'll just walk with you there"
"alright then"
And the two walked until they reached Applebloom's house. They said their goodbyes and Scootaloo checked if no one was looking and she started towards the clubhouse. Little did she know, Applebloom was watching the entire time and was following close by. Scootaloo eventually arrived at the clubhouse and she slowly trudged up the steps into the clubhouse. It was dark out now and she was shivering and lonely, but she was used to being lonely. Its better than the harassment she suffered through at the orphanage. She pulled out her little blanket, she has had it since she was a small filly and kept it for sentimental reasons. Mainly because its the one thing that has always been there. Scootaloo settled down in a corner and although she had a blanket, it did little against the cold that nighttime brought. Applebloom was watching the entire thing and she started to tear up,
'I have to do something!' She thought
So ever so silently, she walked into the clubhouse. She creeped along until a loose floorboard gave way and made a loud cracking noise.
"AH! Who's there? Please don't hurt me!"
"Relax Scootaloo, its just me, Applebloom"
"Applebloom? What are you doing here?"
"I followed you from mah house and I saw you come here for the night. Now what are YOU doing here?"
Scootaloo gazed at the floor with sad, hopeless eyes. A minute passed and finally Scootaloo looked up, tears brimming her eyes, and spoke
"I have nowhere else to go"
After she said that she broke down sobbing. Applebloom did her best to comfort her crying friend and when Scootaloo stopped crying Applebloom said
"Maybe you can stay with us for a little?"
Scootaloo looked at her, surprise evident in her face.
"Thank you so much!"
She said as she hugged her friend.
"Aw its nuthin, Scoots!"
The walk back was long and painfully silent. After a few minutes Applebloom decided to finally speak up
"So what happened to your parents?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well you said you had nowhere else to go"
"Oh, I don't know what happened to them, I've been living in an orphanage for as long as I remember. Until about a year ago"
"What happened then?"
"I ran away, came to Ponyville and that's when I met you and Sweetiebelle"
