A Brand New Day
It was a cold and snowy day in the town of Ponyville. The small little town is wrapping up winter and welcoming in Spring with an annual festive celebration known as "Winter Wrap Up". On this day cities like Canterlot use unicorn magic to bring in Spring, but here in Ponyville they find joy in doing it by hoof, so on the day of the wrap up all of the Earth Ponies, Pegasi, and Unicorns come together and divide themselves into teams, the weather team, the plants team, and the animals team. The event is organized by a purple maned unicorn by the name of Twilight Sparkle.
"Rise and shine little rabbits, time for sleeping is over, Spring is here!" said the soft spoken Fluttershy. Who was peering into a rabbit hole.
Fluttershy is a yellow maned Pegasus that loves wildlife. She has a natural talent when it comes to dealing with animals, so it was no wonder when she got chosen to be the leader of the animals team. Along with her animal talents comes a sweet but quite voice, ever since Fluttershy was a young filly in flight school, she's been very shy. Because of this she would often get stage fright when flying in front of the other students, so she wasn't a strong flyer, she also got made fun of a lot, but in her lonely time at the academy she did make one friend. The best young flyer in all of Equestria, Rainbow Dash.
"You're taking too long to wake them up." Rainbow Dash said as she hovered above Fluttershy, " How are we supposed to clear the skies if you can't get all of your animals out of their holes?"
Rainbow Dash had a unique talent of her own, she was a gifted flyer, which made her an obvious choice for the weather patrol captain.
"Animal's need to be woken calmly and slowly, if i started screaming at all of them then they would freak out and run away." Fluttershy responded. Fluttershy's love of animals got the best of her when waking up the animals.
"urghh well hurry up, we can't wait around all day for you to pony around with the animals," Rainbow Dash as she did a flip in the air, then returned up into the clouds to take a nap while she waited for her turn to get in on the action.
"Oh she's right," Fluttershy said talking to herself as she sat down on the ground in disgust,"my team is always the last team to finish up, but what are we supposed to do? If we scream at the animals then they would just run away, and we don't want that, oh no, what ever shall i do?"
She thought of everything she could to gently, but quickly wake up her animals,so she tried running around and singing a lovely song, but when Pinkie Pie, an extremely hyper pink maned Earth pony, heard her it made her want to join in, playing every instrument she could possible carry, including a trombone, the drums, and the symbols.
"Pinkie what are you doing!?" Fluttershy exclaimed, as she nervously looked around to make sure the animals weren't freaking out.
"You looked like you were having a lot of fun so I thought that i would join in and have even more fun with you, well? Was this fun or what?" Pinkie responded with a bright smile on her face.
"Um, no, not really, you see i'm trying to wake up the animals peacefully, and well you see if you're playing so loudly, it'll scare them. Also, aren't you supposed to be cutting the lakes?" Fluttershy questioned looking down at the ground then up at Pinkie Pie.
"There will be plenty of time for that later, I mean we're far ahead of your team." Pinkie said as she hoped off back to Sugarcube Corner to eat sweets
"Oh no, if they're almost done then that means that we are way behind, we need to pick up the pace and fast, we need to clear all of these holes by the end of the hour or else we won't finish on time."
Fluttershy then became frantic with worry, if she didn't finish and everypony else was late to welcome in Spring because of her, then they would get mad at her and not want to be her friend anymore. Fluttershy had gone a while without friends and usually found comfort in hanging out with her animals, but she also felt even better when she could help out her friends, even if they were doing something silly like waking up a dragon and asking him to find a new sleeping spot.
She then decided to resort to doing something she thought she'd never have to do.
"Rainbow Dash!" she tried to scream, but it didn't come out very loud. It was enough to reach Rainbow though.
"Yeah Fluttershy, is it time for us to make our rounds?" Rainbow Dash asked as she popped her head over the cloud she was resting on.
"Well actually, umm no. But I need your help, can you...umm....if you aren't busy...could you...possibly....come down here?" Fluttershy didn't normally like asking for things, even if she was asking a friend.
"Anything for you Fluttershy." she then flew down from the cloud that she was on and stood tall in front of Fluttershy, "What do you need me to do?"
Fluttershy then leaned in and whispered into Rainbow Dash's ear.
"That's all you need me to do?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Yes...that is if you want to." Fluttershy responded. With a nervous expression on her face
"Sure, stand back," she said,Fluttershy aknowledged this and then took cover behind a tree.Rainbow Dash then let in a huge breath and screamed at the top of her lungs "WAKE UP YOU STUPID ANIMALS!!"
At this, every animal woke up from their hole and started running around frantically.
"Oh dear, umm excuse me, everyone, if i could have your attention." Fluttershy tried to calm them down, but to no avail, the animals were out of control with no hope of settling down.
"Wait here, i'm going to go get applejack!" Rainbow Dash said as she darted off towards the fields where the plants team were planting the crops for the upcoming year.
Applejack is a farmer at heart and knows everything there is to know about raising an apple farm, she is also quite experienced in animal herding, hay throwing, and most importantly bucking trees with her hind hooves. She is a honest worker who loves the sense of accomplishment that comes with doing a job by herself.
"AJ!, AJ!." Rainbow Dash called out. Almost out of breath and sweating from the speed she went to get to Sweet Apple Acres.
"Yeah Rainbow, what's got you all riled up?" Applejack asked with a concerned look.
"Fluttershy's animals are going crazy, I need your help rounding them up, can you help?" Rainbow Dash asked
"Darn tootin I'll help, let me go en get Winona."
Winona is Applejack's dog, she is a hard worker with a strong bond with Applejack.
"Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear." Fluttershy was in full panic mode, "What'll I do?"
"Get along Winona, Yeee Haww!", Applejack exclaimed as she ran down the hill, "get em all bunched up Winona"
Winona responded with a bark of acknowledgement
Applejack and Winona then spent the next few minutes rounding up all of the animals, it was tiring work and it left Applejack and Winona exhausted, but never-the-less, the job was done.
"Oh thank you so much Applejack, how can i ever repay you." Fluttershy ecstatically asked.
"aww shucks, think nothing of it Fluttershy, I'm sure yall'd do the same for me." Applejack said with a blush.
"Actually, I don't think I'd ever do that for anyone." Fluttershy said embarrassed.
Applejack chuckled then said, "well I best be getting back to mu duties, I'll talk with yal later. See ya Fluttershy."
"Bye." Fluttershy said.
Fluttershy then turned to the animals and took a head count to make sure that they were all accounted for.
"One, two, three...two-hundred and fifty-three, oh dear! Where's Angel?" Fluttershy said.
She then started to frantically search for her pet rabbit angel.
"Angel, Angel!"
She called out but with no response, she then hung her head down and started to tear up a little bit, but then she noticed something strange on the ground. It was a rabbit shaped footprinted, and it headed off to the...Everfree forest, only the darkest and scariest place in all of Equestria.
"Oh Dear" Fluttershy said, "What'll I do now?"

"Oh dear oh dear, what am I going to do?" Fluttershy worriedly said. "Angel has never ran away from home like this, I don't think he can make it out there in the wild all by himself, he's probably scared, and cold...and hungry. Oh, I have to go get him, but I can't go alone, I need to ask the girls for help." So Fluttershy took off to enlist the help of her friends.
"Howdy Fluttershy, how's...it going?" Applejack said as she struggled plowing her farmland.
"Oh, hi Applejack, I need another favor...that is, if your not to busy?" Fluttershy said
"Actually Fluttershy I do have a whole heap of stuff ta do taday, roundin up all yer animals really set my team back without their captain, I don't think I can help you today sugar cube, I'm so sorry." Applejack said
"Oh...um that's fine...I guess, it's just that Angel ran into the Everfree forest...and I was ju-"
"Is that all? I think yer just freaking out sugar cube, Angel'll be fine, she's a wild animal at heart and she knows how to take care of herself." Applejack interupted
"Oh...umm ok, I'll let you get back to work." Fluttershy said
"Try not to think about it sugar cube, she'll be back before you know it." Applejack calmly stated
Fluttershy realized there was no reasoning with Applejack, she had to much work to do to worry about her problems, so she slowly trotted away from Sweet Apple Acres.
She decided to head into town to get help from Twilight Sparkles
Twilight is a purple maned unicorn that knows a huge amount about magic, she is one of the few unicorns that specializes in magic. Most unicorn's know magic that can help them in their field of work, but since Twilight's field of work is magic, she's devoted herself to learn all their is to know about it. Along with being an avid student, she is also extremely organized. So when she got left out of her first Winter Wrap Up in Ponyville because she wasn't allowed to use magic, she made herself useful by being the team planner to make sure that every team was organized and knew what they needed to accomplish, and by when they needed to accomplish it by.
"Twilight will help me for sure," Fluttershy thought as she entered town, "All she had to do was tell everyone what they needed to do anyway, she won't be to busy."
But to Fluttershy's surprise, when she reached the town center she saw Twilight being swarmed by multiple ponies all asking for help.
"Everypony calm down, I know you're all behind schedule, but I'll figure out a way to help all of you out, now please, give me some space." Twilight pleaded
"Oh, hi Twilight...are you by any chance...um, busy?" Fluttershy shyly asked.
"Busy would be an understatement, more like overwhelmed if you ask me, every team seems to be delayed, the plant's team didn't have Applejack to tell them what to do so they need to twice as hard to get back on track. The cloud team had to start a half hour later then usual so they cant clear the skies quick enough, and the animal team is once again the slowest working team. Ughh, I don't know how you ponies did it before I got here." Twilight ranted
"Oh, actually, we never finished on time once before you came. But umm, you don't suppose I could ask you for a favor could I?" Fluttershy asked.
"I'm sorry Fluttershy, but whatever it is, I just don't think I can help, I need to figure out some way to increase these ponies productivity before we end up late to welcome spring." Twilight said
"Oh, ok then, I'll see if somepony else will help me." Fluttershy said.
Fluttershy then walked away from town center hanging her head in defeat, "Oh goodness, everyone seems too busy to help me, I hope Rarity will join me." She said.
Fluttershy then walked over to the Carousel Boutique to see if her good friend Rarity could help.
Rarity is a well bred,white maned unicorn that has a natural talent in dress designing. Her name is known all around Ponyville for her dresses, they've caught the attention of many famous ponies including Hoity Toity, a huge name in the Fashion world, and Sapphire Shores, a famous pop singer. She strives to act like an upper class citizen and has an extreme dislike of getting her hooves dirty, she likes to be clean and civilized.
"Rarity!" Fluttershy yelled as she knocked on the boutique, "Rarity, are you home?"
"Coming!" Rarity sang out as she walked to the door. "Yes Fluttershy? Oh please be quick, I've go a lot of work to do, making these bird nests." Rarity said.
"Oh, I will be, I was wondering if you would help me find Angel in the Everfree forest?" Fluttershy said with a smile.
"Oh you must be insane darling, I'm far too busy, and the Everfree Forest is far too dirty for me to go on an adventure." Rarity said in disgust.
"Oh...umm ok then." Fluttershy said
"Listen darling, I'm extremely sorry, but i do have a lot to do, maybe some other time." Rarity said sorrowfully
"It's fine."
Fluttershy realized she was running out of options, so she went down to the lake to ask Pinkie Pie for assistance.
But when Fluttershy reached the lake, her hopes for Pinkies help quickly vanished. Pinkie was skating frantically around the lake so that the ice could melt easier when the sunlight beamed down.
"Pinkie Pie?" Fluttershy asked.
"Oh hey Fluttershy, can't talk now, I spent all my time over at Sugarcube Corner eating sweets, and now I'm about super duper behind on my job." Pinkie said.
"Oh no," Fluttershy said to herself, "If Pinkie can't help me, then that just leaves Rainbow Dash, and if Rainbow can't help, then I'll have to go looking for Angel alone. Oh, only if I could have woken up all of the critters up quicker, then maybe I wouldn't be in this predicament."
Fluttershy then flew up to the clouds in search of Rainbow Dash.
She found Rainbow Dash ordering a bunch of flight teams around. "You, you and A team clear the east side, and B team, get the west. Derpy, I need you to fly south and bring the birds back, the rest of you work on the south end of town, my team and I will clear the north end. Any questions?" Rainbow Dash asked
"Oh, I have one," Fluttershy said, "Do you think you could help me search for Angel in the Everfree Forest Rainbow Dash?"
"Fluttershy, as fun as that sounds, I have a lot of clouds to clear, and since you took forever to wake your animals, we're way behind, maybe tomorrow." Rainbow Dash said, she then started flying north to clear clouds.
"Well Angel, it looks like all of my friends are too busy to help me, but don't worry. I'm coming for you." Fluttershy said as she flew towards the dark and scary Everfree Forest.

"Goodness, it's so dark in here." Although it was only five o' clock, the forest was extremely dark. Fluttershy was prepared for this though as she had her lady bug friends Illuminate the area around here.
The forest smelled like pine with an aroma of maple. the ground was moist due to the swampy areas that were inside of it, and the air was cool with fog. Fluttershy continued forward into the forest shouting out Angel's name, but to no avail. Fluttershy knew it would be difficult to find Angel, but she did't expect that it would be this hard.
"Oh, I wish my friends were here, then we could all look for Angel and I could get out of this forest quicker." she said to herself.
Then an idea popped into her head, she'd go and visit Zacora, mabey she had seen where Angel went, or better yet, offer to help her!
She continued walking down the dark pathway looking around for any signs of Angel, but she didn't find anything. She heard noises of what she thought were timber wolves, she could see them lurking in the trees and sniffing her scent, she knew she would be alright as long as she stayed on the path though, timber wolves only attacked ponies that were roaming in the forest.
After about a half mile she finally got to Zacora's, her hut was illuminated with tiki torches and smelled of potions and cast iron.
"Umm...hello? Zacora?" Fluttershy called out
"Hang on my child, let me bring you inside, out of the wild." Zacora responded
Fluttershy entered Zacora's hut and started to explain her situation to Zacora
"You see? This is why I came to you, I thought you might be able to help me." Fluttershy ended with saying
"A potion is what you need? I think this will do the deed." Zacora said
Zacora then handed Fluttershy the potion and explained that it was a scent potion. It would single out one scent of a selected individual so that finding that person, or in this case bunny, will be no problem.
"Oh, thank you so much Zacora." Fluttershy gracefully said as she drank the potion
Fluttershy's senses then went crazy, at first she could smell everything, then she could only smell Zacora, then she couldn' smell anything, and finally she smelt the scent of a familiar rabbit friend. Fluttershy then hugged Zacora and turned around to go and follow her nose.
It was strange walking around in the forest without being able to smell anything. Usually Fluttershy could smell all of the pine trees, and the different scents of flowers. But now all she could sense was Angel's well groomed body. Not that it was necessarily a bad thing, but strange nonetheless.
"I hope Angel didn't trot off the path." Fluttershy said to herself.
She was extremely worried about where she would find Angel, the forest was a dangerous place for any creature, especially little rabbits.
Angel's scent carried along the path for a while until it trailed off of the path when a boulder blocked the route.
"Oh no, Angel, you know how dangerous it is to stray off of the path, please be safe." Fluttershy worriedly said as she stepped off the path and into the bulk of the forest.
Angel leaving the trail wasn't all bad though, the ground off of the trail was more moist and damp, this allowed Fluttershy to be able to see Angel's tracks.
The part of the forest that wasn't on the path was covered in trees and Fluttershy had to constantly maneuver around tree branches and bushes, her not being able to smell them made it hard to avoid some, and she ended up getting a few scratches on her legs.
She followed along this narrow trail for about five minutes until she noticed a clearing.
"Angel!" Fluttershy excitedly called out to her rabbit friend.
Angel stood up from the spot he was taking a nap in and ran to Fluttershy hugging her with all of his might.
"Oh Angel, don't you ever run away from me like that again, you had me worried sick." Fluttershy said looking down at Angel.
Angel then worriedly looked around the perimeter of the clearing and into the forest. He then directed Fluttershy's attention that way as well.
Fluttershy then shared the same concern on Angel's face as she saw the outline of the most feared creatures in the forest.
Timber wolves.
