Prologue: A Mimiga
Dust blew across the desert. It was typical for the Cargora Desert, in Sub-Universe 3146534 of Universe 3927518535. A lone figure walked, carrying nothing but a sword. It had long ears, and a purple coat. Not a coat in the clothing sense, but fur. A Mimiga- an inventor at that. He had been traveling across universes for many years. Four hundred and twenty-three of them to be exact. The sand rumbled. An omen of danger. Two metal hands lurked below the dunes. They burst out, along with a large robotic head. The Mimiga didn’t pull out its weapon, but instead saw something in the distance. A mad dash to get to the object. As the Mimiga got closer, it became apparent that the something was a house. A house owned by that particular purple rabbit-like creature. The door was thrown open in haste, a rush to get to a machine. A red button was hit, sending the house and its occupant to the next sub-universe.
As the house flew through the gap between sub-universes, the Mimiga calmed down. His face wasn’t old, instead young. Chipper, even. He sighed and sat down, waiting until the jump would end. Out of the window lay a swirling symphony of color.
“Mind the gap.” He thought.
Sub-universe 135267 of Universe 1. A place filled with humans. He reminisced of his time there. Many of the humans had been agreeable, even if those ones in black tuxedos did try to capture/kill him. They might have succeeded if they had known that his house was a universal jump device, but they didn’t. Fail on their part.
“Always know your enemy.” Rang out a voice.
The multiverse was speaking to him once again. Most of the things it liked to converse about were pure gibberish, but occasionally it gave a nugget of good advice, like it did just then. The Mimiga knew its enemy for sure. A dangerous one, not caring about how many universes it ate. Called the Devourer by all who saw it and lived to tell the tale. That total number was around 13, and with good reason, even if grim. The Devourer was the only enemy unstoppable, unbeatable –invincible.
The house was slowing down. Universe 3927518536. Sub-Universe 47829467. Lots of sub-universes for this one. It was an odd occurrence. Typically, there was less.
Flomp.
With that noise, he entered. His house landed on the ground, and fired up the fog machines. No hostiles in the immediate area, but might as well have it for dramatic effect. He opened up his door.
Hiss.
Airlock disengaged. He walked out, and BAM. Warp sickness hit him like a rocket. He ran to the trashcan he conveniently placed right outside his door. He threw off the lid, bent his head in, and barfed.
“HURRLCH!”
Little did he know there was a pair of magenta eyes staring out from a cloud right above. A flutter of wings, and a rainbow trail emanated from said cloud, and then it was gone.
Those same eyes were the first things Twilight Sparkle saw when her door was blown off of its hinges. It was a possible miracle that nothing in there but a statue had been touched. Said statue now lay in splinters on the floor, in an irreparable mess.
“Rainbow Dash, what the hay are you blowing up my door for?”
“Uh… sorry?”
“Ugh! Why does something always have to happen?” It was true, occurrences in this nature were common in this town, seeing as it was right by the Everfree Forest. “What’s the emergency this time? Is it something we’ll need the Elements for? Does the Princess know? Is it dangero-mmf!” Rainbow Dash had stuck her hoof into the mouth of Twilight Sparkle so she would be quiet.
“It’s some sort of purple rabbit….thing. It walked out of a house and then barfed. I say you let me at it!”
“Well, I say I go take a look at it while you gather the others.”
“But-“
“No.”
Neither of them noticed a certain purple and green baby dragon sneaking out to investigate the matter himself.
The dragon rolled and jumped straight through the window, using sneaky dragon stealth that wasn’t really there, and he failed the landing and got his spines stuck in the ground. His feet kicked in the air, struggling for grip that wouldn’t come.
He most likely would have been there for a long time had a grey Pegasus with blond hair come to help. He felt hooves pull him up, then flip him over right-side up.
“Thanks Derpy!”
He waddled away, oblivious to the offer of muffins.
By then, the purple Mimiga had righted himself, and the warp sickness had left his body. He went inside his house to obtain a toothbrush. No sense in letting his teeth dissolve, even if that may or may not be a myth. As he returned to the open air outside of his house, and this time noticed two pairs of eyes staring out of two different bushes, and then five more appeared. The eye colors varied, and were quite large. Two quadruped figures were the first to emerge from the group of bushes, and the others remained in there.
There was a canary yellow Pegasus rushing at his face.
“Ohmygosh it’s sooooo cute!”
“Whoa- what the heck? Who are you?”
The Pegasus was grinning from ear to ear..
“I’m Fluttershy, it’s so amazing you can talk oh my gosh!”
The other individual who had emerged was a purple unicorn. It opened its mouth to speak, and the Mimiga prepared for another assault of “It’s so cute” to arrive, but instead there was a question;
“Why do you have a sword?”
To this he responded with a simple answer. One that was quite obvious in fact.
“To defend myself. What else would I use it for?”
A grand facehoof was in order, and it was ordered by that same indigo unicorn.
Four others emerged from the hedges. One cyan pony, one purple, one white, one orange, one pink and one yellow now stood before him, and one pair of eyes was still watching from a bush. Draconic eyes. The Mimiga was then assaulted with questions, and then suddenly a large alabaster figure emerged from the sky. One with magenta eyes and flowing rainbow hair, even without wind. A regal figure for sure.
“I have been waiting for your arrival, Nick.”
It had the exact same voice as the Multiverse.
