The Library

So we make our way through Ponyville, flying past the town hall and Sugarcube Corner. The citizens of town, almost like in every cliché story, follow their daily business and go shopping on the market, chatting on the way. Some arguing about the price of the various things for sale, and others are just relaxing at a café or eating outside a restaurant. All in all very normal for a village full of colourful ponies, I guess. I look around more and find some familiar faces like Berry Punch cleaning her bars windows, Aloe waiting in front of the spa, for some reason, and Derpy chatting with Colgate about something. After a short flight I can see the library and fly ahead, very much to Rainbow’s surprise.

"Hey! You know I’m the one who wants to go see Twilight, right?" she pants. I nod.

"Yeah. I’m just saving us some time to get there!" I yell after. Upon this, I land in front of the tree house library and knock, all before Rainbow can even land.

"How did you know that this is Twilight’s library?" she asked as she stumbled to a stop, cursing about useless training.

"The better question is: How did I know that this tree is supposed to even be a library?" I say and grin at her. She, in return, continues looks unsure of how to counter. “There’s a lot you don’t know about me, and a lot I know about you guys.”

"GIMME A SECOND!" A young boy’s voice shouts out, breaking the silence, and the sounds of footsteps are getting closer. The door opens and a little purple dragon with green spikes and a cream coloured belly opens the door. "Yeah? Rainbow Dash!” he greets. He stares at me for a moment. “And ...who is that?"

"Hello, Spike." I state simply before Rainbow can even answer and step past him to enter.

"Hey! Did I say my name just now? Because I don’t remember telling you that." the dragon asks Rainbow behind my back, as she enters as well, shaking her head.

"That’s Camo Flash. At least, he said that that’s his name. Spike? Do you know where Twilight is? I gotta ask her about the… you know, new book?" she whispers the third part watching me. I mouth the words “Oh, I knew it!” and she just glares at me.

"Okay…” he gives me a look. “TWILIGHT? RAINBOW DASH IS HERE WITH A NEW PEGASUS!" the dragon shouts.

"Coming!" A voice echoes back from the first floor. The library is big. Really big. Like, a mammoth tree, but hollow on the inside. Including the space for hundreds of books in multiple floors. I’d say almost 20 feet high! I randomly grab a book out of the shelf and read the front page "Equestrian Myths and Legends: Tales of Gods and Monstrosities". I realize now how hard it is to turn a page with these damn hooves.

"Please be careful with that book! It’s over 400 years old!" I hear a voice behind me and see the book surrounded by a purple aura and floating back into the shelf.

"Let me guess...Twilight Sparkle, prized student of the sun god Princess Celestia, bearer of the Element of Magic… and sister of Shining Armor, head of the protection agency, The Royal Guard?" Upon turning around, I see a very surprised Twilight and a dumbstruck Rainbow Dash looking at me while Spike doesn’t even seem to have listened to what I said and is making his way into the kitchen.

"E-everything is correct, yes… and you are...?" she stutters

"Just new here, believe it or not. Name’s Camo Flash. It’s an honor to speak with the most talented magician in all of Equestria." I say and bow slightly, this being hard with four legs.

She blushes a bit. "Oh, no… I-I mean, yes, thank you, but no. I am not the most powerful magician in all of Equestria...”

“Then who is? Trixie?” I taunt. She shakes her head.

“The Princesses are much more powerful than I am," she decides.

"But you are the Element of Magic. Ri-i-ight?" I laugh.

"Why yes!" she perked up.

"And you aren’t an alicorn, like Celestia or Luna. Or Cadence…"

"Can I get my book now?" Rainbow almost whines in annoyance. She clamps her mouth shut, and I chuckle. Twilight shakes herself out of her trance. She was staring at me weird. Bella to Edward style weird. I shake the thought from my mind.

"Oh yes, sorry Rainbow Dash. I will get it right away!" Twilight remembers and pulls out some books out of the shelf. Obviously oblivious to the books last location.

"You know who Twilight is and didn’t say a word?" Rainbow whispers to me.

"Obvious, isn`t it? I just thought it would be fun to see your reaction...” I chuckle. “Again." She just gives me a deadpan look and resumes watching Twilight while whispering again.

"What do you also know about Equestria?" she asked.

"Who knows?" I shrug. "Maybe everything. Maybe nothing. Depends."

"Depends on what?" she hissed.

"On old people. But in this context, it depends on how good my memories are."

"So you have been here before?" she shows some excitement.

"Hypothetically. I’ve seen the show, and read a lot."

"Wh-what are you talking about?" she switches from excitement to worry.

"Don’t think about it. It`s just nonsense." She just eyes me again but looks at Twilights chaos once more.

"FINALLY!" Twilight shouts levitating the book out of the pile of books in the direction of Rainbow who grabs it and puts it away into her saddlebag. She gave me a quick “You saw nothing” and started for the door.

"Wow. Discord would be proud!" I exclaim looking at the chaos what was the ground 5 minutes ago.

"What was that?" Twilight asks more for confirmation than for mishearing. Rainbow freezes in the door.

"Nothing, Giles,” I brushed off. “I just wonder how long it will take to get this mess cleaned up!"

"Oh yes… This will take a while. But for that, I have my number one assistant!"

"Aw, MAN!" comes out of the kitchen.

“I know that feel, bro,” I comfort. Spike just looked at me through the doorway. "Okay! I guess you got what you wanted?" I ask Rainbow.

"Yeah. We can go, now, just let me talk with Twilight about the Grand Galloping Gala next week," she rolls her eyes

"Whoa! Wait a sec, the GGG?"

"Yes?" she confirms.

"First time?" I ask, worried.

"Yes?! How can you tell?" she gives me another look. Oh good god, the first time?

"Awesome!" I fake happyness.

"Dude. You are getting weirder by the second," she nudges me out the door.

"Yeah I heard that the first few times. Okay, I’ll leave you two alone for a bit, I will fly and do some sightseeing, if you don`t mind" Rainbow wants to say something, but I cut her off "Take your time." I say and smirk. Before she can say another word, I fly out of the door, shutting it with my tailwind.

"Okay, I said that I will do some sightseeing. But what sights do we have to see here?" I ask myself. I facehoof as I realize that: “I kinda just saw one from the inside. Okay, then, I’m gonna see all places from the show!” I shout. “...Who am i even talking to?"

First destination: Sugarcube Corner.
