//-------------------------------------------------------// Day In & Day Out -by BronyBroColab- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2- A New Day //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2- A New Day Alec’s Pov ______________________________________________________________________________________________ So far this morning is going great. Talking to Ikaika about my nightmare actually made me feel better; I expected it to be a lot of rougher. Why did I even expect it to be rough? Ikaika has always been a good big brother, hell he even agrees with me on the most retarded subjects. I remember back in 7th grade we had a conversation about this show Adventure Time and how it was a show for stoners. Everyone would always talk about that show like it was the best, but apparently they’ve never seen Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory, Ed, Edd, n Eddy, Johnny Bravo, The Flintstone’s, The Powerpuff Girls. I could go on and on about these amazing shows but then that would be a boring story wouldn’t it. Heading to school was slightly different today, everything seemed so blissful and colorful and even Ikaika seemed to more optimistic. I never thought I’d see the day when Ikaika would be excited to go school. He always seemed to hate this town for being boring and dull. Not me however I looked at this town and all I saw was gray, but that didn’t get me sad. I looked at it as an opportunity to be a more cheerful person to brighten up this town. My whole life everyone always questioned why I was so happy and I honestly didn’t know. My mindset is different than other people. I would always try to be optimistic about a situation, or I would try to resolve the situation myself before anything happened. I always try to keep people happy as it pains me to see them sad. I never understood why humans became sad because I believe happiness is the one thing that a person should cherish. Life is worth nothing if you aren’t happy. Ikaika snaps me out of my stupor. “Alec, we’re here.” Ikaika says as we arrive at school. “Oh wow, that was fast.” I say unbuckling my seat belt. Ikaika parks the car and I unbuckle my seatbelt, Ikaika does the same and we exit the car. Ikaika and I decide to walk around campus before class begins. Most of the walk is just us enjoying the peace and quiet. “I wonder if anything will ever change in this town” I say out loud “We can only hope Alec.... we can only hope” Ikaika says nonchalantly. During our stroll around campus we can’t help but overhear some students talking about some new transfer students coming to our school. At first we didn’t believe the rumors but as we walked around the school everyone was talking about it, so it must’ve been true. However no one seemed to know when these transfers were coming who they were. “What’s the point in transferring so late in the school year? This is the last week of school!” Ikaika proclaimed. “Maybe they were having problems at their other school.” I said unsure of the actual reason why. “Oh yeah, cuz’ this school is soooo much better.” Ikaika said sarcastically. “I just hope they’re not like all the other dumb fucks around here.” Ikaika puts emphasis on “dumb fucks”, I guess to make sure the people around us heard. The school bell rings so we begin to walk to 1st period. My mind wanders off to the students talking about those transfers. I wonder how they look like? I hope they're nicer than the residents of this town anyway. We make it to class first and head to our seats. Ikaika and me both sit at the back of the class but we are on opposite sides with no one sitting around us (corner seats FTW). It’s like this in all of our classes. Some teachers tried to move us but the principal, our uncle, Mr.Caves says otherwise. Me and Ikaika would sometimes call him Bear because hes a big hairy man. He would get mad at us for calling him that around school and would chase us down, he was a pretty fast for a big old man. The tardy bell rings as the room is now filled with students. “Damn, how did I not notice” I thought to myself. Class continues as usual. Useless and boring lectures, talkative students, and an aggravated teacher. As the teacher was about to explode the class phone rings and a special phenomenon that only occurs every 1,000 years happened. The whole class went silent! For the 1st time in forever there was peace and quiet as everyone listened to the phone call. “Hello, this is B-307. This is Mrs.Mcconaughey speaking, how may I help you?” “Hello Mrs.Mcconaughey, this is Mr.Caves” was all I heard as everyone started to talk to each other. I look over to Ikaika and judging by his expression he seems rather pissed off. He notices me looking at him and I mouth to him “Did you hear what the teacher is talking about?”. He shakes his head while mouthing the word “No”. Mrs.Mcconaughey then hangs up the phone and tells the class to be quiet. She then gives a whole lecture on why being quiet is important and how it can help us in the future but most of the class fell asleep during the lecture. Her lecture is interrupted by a few knocks at the door, all heads perk up and everyones lock onto the door. Mrs.Mcconaughey walks over to the door and opens it and says “come in”. In walk six undeniably cute girls. “Hiya, Ah’m AppleJack”One of the girls said. She’s sporting a stetson cowboy, a red plaid flannel, and short shorts. Based on the way she spoke she’s probably from the south. As I thought that she looked at me and I noticed she had green emerald eyes. She looked more toned than the other girls. “Hi, I’m Twilight.” The next girl said. She has on a knit purple sweater with a deeper shade of purple as horizontal stripes on it. She also has on purple skinny jeans and her her hair was black with dyed streaks of pink and purple in it. And her eyes were also a very bright purple. “Hi, I’m Rarity, i'm delighted to meet your acquaintance everyone.” She spun around after introducing herself. She wore a white pencil dress with a waist high black belt. She had really long curled purple hair, you swear you saw a bit of glitter in there. She seemed to be a fashionista of some sort. It seems like she’s wearing false eyelashes but I’m not sure. “HieveryoneI’mPinkiePie!” She says quickly and enthusiastically, I could barely understand her she said it so fast. She has long bright pink curly locks and a cute button nose. She’s wearing pink party dress with glitter at the bottom where it flared out. Her bright blue eyes matched her complexion. “Hi, I’m Rainbow Dash, The fastest girl world!” Did she just wink at me? No couldn’t be, probably had something in her eye. Eh i’m pretty sure no one would want to date a guy like me anyway. Shes way to out of my league. I mean She had magenta eyes and wore a cyan hoodie, with jeans and she had the most peculiar hair color, it’s rainbow! I’m pretty sure a outgoing person with awesome hair like that could get any guy she wanted. “Hi, I’m Fluttershy” Did she say something? I’m pretty sure the whole class didn’t even try to listen since they would’ve been distracted by her huge rack. As I looked around the class I’m pretty sure that I saw about every guy pitch a tent. It seemed like she was wearing a hand knitted yellow sweater and a brown maxi skirt but what surprised me the most was that she was wearing flip flops and the fact she had, what seemed to be natural pink hair. “Okay, now that we are done with introductions, girls would you please take your seats. Sorry that the only seats available are by Ikaika and Alec which are at the back of the class. If you have any problems please come see me.” Mrs.Mcconaughey said coldly. “Woohoo!” Pinkie exclaims as she rushes to sit near Ikaika. “Calm down Pinkie” Twilight said sternly while walking in front of Pinkie. “Okay.....” Pinkie said glumly as you could literally see her happiness leave her. Her hair flattened and she had this dark feeling around her.But as quick as it had come, it left as she turned to her flamboyant self. Rarity follows Pinkie to their seats. Twilight sits beside Ikaika while Pinkie sits in front of her. Rarity seems a bit cautious of Ikaika as she slowly sits down in front of him. Whilst looking at Ikaika, I neglect to notice Rainbow Dash, Applejack and Fluttershy sit down. Applejack had sat beside me while Rainbow Dash had took her place in front. Fluttershy decided to sit next to Rainbow Dash. I decide to introduce so I don’t come off as the wrong type of person. “Hi there, I’m Alec” I said as formal as possible They all turned around and looked at each other and smiled. Applejack was the first to say something. “Howdy there, Alec, ah’m Applejack but you can AJ” She said with pride “No Applejack it needs to be about 20% cooler!” Rainbowdash explained “Hey Alec, my name's Rainbow Dash. I’m the leader of this entourage” She said proudly. “And you can call me Dashie.” She puts emphasis on the word “you” “You ain’t the leader ah this ‘ere group” AJ argued “Yes I am” Dashie retorted “Nuh uh” AJ said. “Guys stop arguing” Fluttershy said quietly I hear Fluttershy and decide to intervene. “Ladies, could we stop arguing so I may hear to what Fluttershy has to say?” I ask as politely as possible. AJ and Dashie look at each other, staring daggers as they sit down with a “hmph”. “What did you say Fluttershy?” I ask “Oh, I didn’t say nothing really.” She said really quietly “Sorry Fluttershy, what was that?” I try to be as calm as possible so I don’t scare her. She seems like a person to get scared easily. “Oh, sorry, I didn’t say anything really” She says with the most adorable voice ever. “Are you sure? Did I scare you?” I calmly state “Oh no no no, you are a very polite person, and.......kinda cute too” “Sorry what was that last part?” “Oh nothing!” She turns around quickly looking flustered. I lean forward and I’m pretty sure I could see a tinge of red on her cheek. I turned to my brother, and it seems he’s introducing himself but paying an exponential amount of attention to Twilight. I think he might like her, but he hasn’t had an attraction to anyone in a long time, as far as I know. As class comes to an end the bell rings, officially marking the end of hell. Well maybe not hell because hell would be way more exciting than this class. 2nd and 3rd period fly by with Mr.Takamori our Trig teacher, and Mr.Broflovski our AP World History teacher. To our surprise the girls were still in me and my bro’s classes with the same seating arrangements.3rd period ends and heaven (Lunch) begins. Lunch is 1 hour and you are allowed to go off campus for lunch. I decide I’m going to show Fluttershy, AJ and Dashie around school. “Hey girls, would you like a tour of the campus?” I ask them. “Ah ain’t mighty sure Alec” AJ says. “I'm for it if our friends can come” Dashie stated “I don’t think it would be a problem” I respond “Ok then” Dashie then proceeds to walk over to Twilight and whispers something “Let’s not waste any time now” Is all I hear Twilight say before Twilight, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie walk toward. My bro Ikaika seems rather down so I decide to go see what’s wrong. “Excuses me ladies” I say before standing up and walk to Ikaika. “Why so glum chum?” I ask with concern “Nothing!” Ikaika exclaims. I’m pretty sure I saw a vein pop. “Well do you want to come with me and show the girls around campus?” I ask him. “Is Twilight going?!” Ikaika suddenly ask with enthusiasm. “No bro, she just decided to walk over to me and just hang out with a random stranger. Of course shes going!” I laugh as I answer his stupid question “Jeez, you don’t need to be an ass about it.” Ikaika said a little hurt “Hey bro, you know I didn’t mean it” I get closer to see if he’s alright. Ikaika then jumps up and pushes me to the ground. “HAHAHAHAHA, gotcha good bro, gotcha good.” Ikaika reaches his hand out and I gladly grab it as he pulls me back on his feet. “Now let’s go show these ladies a good time” I say as I brush myself off “I concur” Ikaika states with a hint of smart-assery Ikaika and I slowly walk toward the girls like the wannabe bad asses we are. “What are they doing?” Rarity whispers to Twilight “I’m not sure but it sure does look funny” Twilight suppressed a giggle. “Especially Ikaika” //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3- I have no idea //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3- I have no idea Ikaika’s Pov ______________________________________________________________________________ “Yes! I get to hang out with Twilight” I thought to myself as Alec and I walk over to the girls. I can’t believe Twilight actually sat next to me in class, I saw her walk in and I got a feeling, you know that kinda feeling when you eat hot cheetos and it goes down the wrong pipe and then there’s a searing pain in your chest. More or less something like that, but just like hot cheetos, you craved more. This feeling, it feels so familiar. When have I felt like this before? 7th grade! That girl umm, what was her name again? V.....v, I’m pretty sure it started with a V. Veronica? No....no, that doesn’t sound right. Valerie? No, sounds like something out of a fan fiction or something. Vanessa? Vanessa! That was her name. Flashback She walked into class and everybodies jaw hit the floor, except for one, me. I was always the type of person that was able to see the true nature of someone and I felt as if she was a bitch on the inside. I believed that she was the type of person who uses others to get what she wants. But to my surprise she seemed to warm up to me. I never understood why as I was never an intelligent person in these type of matters. So I decided to ask why she always wanted to hang out with me. “Hey Vanessa” I called for her “Yeeeees?” She said in a somewhat seductive voice, as she slowly turned her head. “Can I talk to you for a second?” I said with an awkward smile. “Sure.” She said smiling back. “Why are you treating me weird?” I asked with a hint of curiosity. “What do you mean weird?” She said. I couldn’t help but feel like she was hurt by my question. “Well, you don’t seem to be as nice to anyone, as you are to me.” I stated “Well what do you think?” She said trying to be cute. “Because I’m nice to you?” I said completely oblivious to the next thing she was about to say. “No... Because I like you silly.” She said as she tapped me on the nose with her index finger. “Wah! Why?” I asked still startled by her statement. “Because you’re like the smartest kid in class...” She said before I interrupted her. “And? What’s so good about that?” I asked questioning her judgement. “Because, if you like the nerd in class he’ll give you the answers. So you’ll give me the answers for test and stuff right? Now that I like you and all.” She said trying to tap my nose again but i pulled my face away and looked at her in disgust. She looked at me with a puzzled expression on her face. Then I spoke. “Fuck you bitch! You lazy ass, stupid, can’t think for herself bitch! You can’t just like me and expect me to give you all the answers! You have got to be the dumbest person I have ever met!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. Not shortly after the principal came over to me and escorted me to her office. Needless to say, I got in trouble, I was suspended from school for a week. So that’s the story of Vanessa. “Hopefully Twilight isn’t like that” I thought to myself. She didn’t seem like that kind of person. I would expect her to be one of those people who look at for her real friends. Not fake friends like that bitch Vanessa. “So where do you girls wanna go first?” Alec ask the girls “The gym!” Rainbow Dash shouts “The mall.” Rarity says in a smug voice “TheHomeEcroooom.” Pinkie Pie says in her normal hyper voice. “Maybe the park?” Fluttershy says in her quiet voice “The horse track!” Applejack exclaims “Well I want to go to the library.” Twilight says in a calm sweet voice “Really Twi? The library? How boring can you be!” Rainbow Dash exclaims “Ah think Dash ‘as a point there sugah” Applejack says “Well I wanna go to the library” Twilight says with a gruff demeanor as she crosses her arms. “I’ll take you to the Library Twi....” Everyone looks at me as used Rainbow Dash’s nickname for Twilight. “Hey! Only her friends call her that” Rainbow Dash says in a tone of anger “Sorry Twilight” I say as I put my head down “Rainbow Dash!” Twilight exclaims. Twilight then lifts my head back up and says “I apologize for my friends behavior, and it’s okay. You can call me Twi and thank you for the offer.” She says giving me a wink and a smile. I almost jizz my pants it’s so sexy. “Well if you follow me I’ll take you to the library.” I say as I feel myself blush. I hope my tan skin complexion doesn’t let the redness show. I don’t think my complexion is enough because Twi giggles. “Okay.” Twi says smiling I begin to walk and she follows, we walk past R-Building, Between D and F and on the other side stand a building known as the library. The library is made of red brick and has no windows, but its a good thing that it’s AC’d or I don’t think anyone would be able to go in there for a minute during the summer. The school library doubles as a public library also. Twi and I walk through the automatic sliding doors on the backside of the library, we immediately feel the cold air from the library when the doors opens, I shiver a little bit. “Oh my god!” Twi exclaims. “It’s so cold.” “Yeah kinda, do you want to use my jacket?” I suggested. “But won’t you be cold?” Twilight asks worriedly “No, I’m used to it. I come here all the time.” I say convincingly. To be honest I was freezing, but a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. I didn’t think Twi would be cold, on account that she’s wearing a knit sweater already. I take off my jacket and hand it to her, it’s a purple zip-up jacket with white leather sleeves. “Oh wow this is really nice.” She says as she puts it on. “Why is it purple?” She ask “Oh...” I hesitate. “Well that’s because purple is my favorite color.” I say. “No way!” She exclaims and is quickly shushed by a librarian. “Oh... Sorry, anyway did you know that purple is my favorite color too?” She says in a still excited but quieter voice. “Well yeah I can tell.” I say chuckling and motioning at her clothes. She blushes. “So now that we’re at the library what do you want to do?” “Hmm... Can you show me where the teen fiction is?” She ask “Sure, as long as it’s not for the Twilight series.” I say in a serious but joking manner, because I hate both the movies and the books. But I didn’t want to sound rude so I jokingly said it. “Ewwww no! I hate those books.” She says making a face as if she had eaten something disgusting. She smiles at me and I smile at her, I lead her to the teen fiction. “So are there any books in particular that you want?” I ask her. “No I’m just looking to see what you guys have.” She replies. “Well have you read Maximum Ride by James Patterson?” I ask. “No, What’s that about?” She asks, sounding very intrigued “Well it’s about this girl Max and the “Flock”, or her family, have run away from the “School”; the lab complex where they spent the first part of their lives locked up in cages and experimented on. After four years, their hiding place has been discovered and Angel, the youngest member of the Flock, is captured. The others go to get her back and find answers along the way. Like information about their parents and some of the history of the School. Eventually, Max comes face to face with Jeb's son, Ari, and supposedly kills him by breaking his neck.” I explained to Twi “Awesome that sounds like something I could read.” She says “Could you see if you can find ‘em for me.” “Sure, just wait here.” I say as I give her a smile and walk away to go find the book. I’m pretty familiar with this libraries Call Number system, since I’m in here almost every other day looking for books. I think for a little while walking through the aisles of books where the book could be. Then I remember it would be somewhere around LT. And there it was, “LT PATTERSON”, I quickly grabbed the book and took it back to Twi. “I got it.” I say holding the book out to her. She takes it from me. “Thanks, I’ll start reading it as soon as i get home.” She says smiling “So why did you move here?” I ask Twi, cautious of her response. “Uhh... My mom got a job at a nursing home.” She explained “Oh, Greenview Retirement Home?” I ask “Yeah that one.” She answered quickly “Well where did you move from?” I ask inquisitively “A town called Blackwater Way” She replied “Oh, where is that?” I ask “Maine.” She said quickly “Oh that’s cool.” I replied “I guess. So do you know any more good books?” She asks quickly “Have you heard of 1984 by George Orwell?” I ask “No what’s that about?” She asks. “ In year 1984, the world has been divided into three states: Oceania, Eastasia and Eurasia, all of which, it is said, are almost continually in battle with one another. This world structure has come about following a nuclear war which took place sometime in the 1950's. In the state of Oceania, a revolution has resulted in the rise of an all-seeing figurehead known only as Big Brother, and a secretive group of individuals referred to as The Party. Under this regime, basic freedoms of expression—even thought—are strictly forbidden. History and memory are actively erased and rewritten so as to support the omnipotence and infallibility of The Party and its pronouncements. To this end, the State even employs its own language, Newspeak, and its own thought process, Doublethink. Early in the novel, Winston meets Julia, another worker at the Ministry of Truth, whom he has been watching from afar. Secretly, the two begin a love affair. This liaison inspires Winston to indulge his ever-growing obsession with revolution, and he and Julia begin to discuss, however implausible, ideas for the overthrow of The Party. Winston's eventual capture at the hands of the Thought Police leads to his purification and re-education by inner Party members. Orwell's strict attention to detail and realistic description of a world thirty-five years ahead of his own add validity to 1984, and make its larger conclusions all the more frightening. Even today, the novel remains a bleak and shadowy forewarning of what might someday occur.” I explained to her “Oh wow, that sounds really interesting.” She said, generally sounding interested “Do you think you could go find it for me, so I can read that when I get home?” “Sure.” I say feeling honored that she’s even talking to me. “Let me just go find it.” I look for the sign hanging that reads “Historical-Fiction”, I peek my head out from the aisle I’m in to look for the sign, I see it a few aisles to the left of me. I turn around, smile at Twi, then start to walk over to the historical-fiction aisle. I’m in the aisle looking around for the book, I finally find it and take it off the shelf, in the process I almost knock off some other books from the shelf. I tuck the book under my arm and walk back to the aisle Twi is waiting for me in, I see she has her back faced toward me, so I walk up to her and tap her on the shoulder. She turns around quickly, her face and mine are inches away. She’s a little bit shorter than me but there we are, I’m staring into her staring into her big, deep purple eyes. Neither of us move staring into each others eyes, it feels so right, looking into her eyes fills me up with a warm sensation, I brush my hand against her waist, I want to hold her but know I can't. At the same time we break our gaze, looking down blushing and smile. “Maybe we should go find everyone else.” I suggest, still looking down. “Yeah maybe we should.” She concurs //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1- Intro //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1- Intro Ikaika’s Pov ___________________________________________________________________________________ I sat in class waiting for the school bell to ring so that I could finally go home. You see I live in a small town named Jockey Ville, it's not much of a name for a town but I didn't choose the name. The old story my dad told me goes that there used-to-be a racetrack about seven miles away from here. After every race the Jockeys would come to this prairie to let their horses graze and relax. While the horses did that the jockeys would go into a little shack house they built over the years because they figure they might as well have somewhere to hang out. One day the jockeys took their horses to the prairie like they always did; it was getting late so they rode their horses back to the track only to find the whole racetrack was up in flames. By the time the Firefighters got to the track, nothing was left. The owners of the horses came soon after to take their horses back to their stables. Since the jockeys lived at the track they had nowhere to live, they went back to the shack they built on the prairie. For the next couple of years the jockeys would have to scavenge in the woods around to survive, some of the jockeys tried to get help from the town but they never returned, some jockeys speculated that the other jockeys were eaten or made it to the town but never told the towns people about the rest of them. Tempers flared over these accusations and soon the jockeys were fighting each other. Finally the jockeys decided they each needed their own houses, they left the original shack to the oldest jockey, and this seemed to be almost the only thing they all agreed on. Years past and each one had kept to themselves; there would be the occasional person to roll through with a wagon full of goods probably heading to another town. Some of the jockeys ask these people to take them with them, some wagon owners would take them but most wouldn't. At this point most of the jockeys became accustomed to this way of life. One stormy night a man dressed in leather (that resembled something of a cowboy) rolled into their village on horseback and asked them for refuge from the storm, the man was wounded; he had a hole in his thigh that was bleeding profusely. The jockeys came together for the first time in a very long time to help the wounded man. The hole went clean through his leg, the jockeys gathered herbs to numb the pain, stitched the man’s leg up and put a splint on it, after this was done the man passed out, and the jockeys carried him into one of their shacks and bunked with another for that night. The next morning they woke to find the man gone; the only thing left was a note that read. “Thank you for your generous hospitality, I do not wish to be a burden to you. I will return one day to repay my debt to you. -Sincerely, Geoffrey F. Elise” Years past and the man never returned, the jockeys had almost completely forgotten about Geoffrey until he came back one day, but he wasn't alone. He brought with him what looked like an army of men; but that thought flew out the window, they had women and children in horse drawn caravans. Geoffrey brought with him men from every profession and those men brought their families. The jockeys had asked him who all these people were, he told them these people were immigrants from the old country, and they were looking for land to settle on. The jockeys welcomed the people with open arms. The people began to start erecting shops and homes, within a couple of months the people had created a town. They didn't know what to call it, for years the town went unnamed, as more years passed the jockeys began to pass away. One by one the jockeys died and the people of the town made a statue of the jockey. The statue was placed in town square so that they would be forever remembered. Shortly after the death of the last jockey the people had finally come to a consensus on the name of the town “Jockey Ville”. I don’t know if that’s the real story of Jockey Ville, I’ve heard a bunch of stories from different people, but I’ll take my dad’s word over anyone else’s. The jockey’s shacks are still on the outskirts of town, now kids just vandalize the shacks, putting graffiti all over the walls and on the inside. And there’s also a museum named after Geoffrey F Elise, we just call it the GFE Museum. There's still 15 minutes left in class and I've finished my work, everyone else is talking to their friends. I don't have friends, not because I'm the weirdo in the class or anything, I just don't like people very much, well not people from here anyway. Everyone here is dull and lifeless, they just follow all the social norms and try to be as accepted as possible, and it’s pretty pathetic if you ask me. The only person I enjoying hanging out with is my fraternal twin Alec. I have him in all my classes but for some reason we always have seats on opposite sides of the class. I don't mind because I always have a book or my IPod, so when I'm done with my work ill read my book or listen to some music. Since I'm done with my work right now I’ll put my earphones in and listen to some Michael Franks. As I'm listening to my jazz music I put my head down and unknowingly go to sleep. The bell rings and I immediately wake-up, take my earphones out, stop the music and put everything back in my pocket. Alec walks to my desk, I get up and we walk out of class. “Finally schools out.” I say. “Yeah, I didn't think the bell would ever ring. Why was the day so long?” he asks, but I didn't answer because I thought it was a rhetorical question. Alec and I are headed to the same place we always go after school; the arcade. Most of the games at the arcade only cost 50¢. After Alec and I spent about $50 there one day, we decided to make rigged coins, the ones with the strings attached to them, it saves us a lot of money and we haven't gotten caught yet. We usually play deer hunter, House of the Dead, or Time Crisis because we both enjoy shooting games and for the most part because it's awesome! Now that we’re done at the arcade, it was 6 or 7 o’ clock so we walk back home, the distance from the arcade and our house is about an hour walk. It was a Monday and I needed some time to collect myself and prepare for what was waiting for me at home. Whenever I come home this late my mom hugs and kisses me and Alec, and asks me where we’ve been, and it’s always the same answer “We were at the Arcade”, but I’m not the emotional type. I don’t get attached to things or people, I thought I liked this girl once but then I talked to her for about 5 seconds and found out she was an idiot, and I’ve never liked or had a crush on anyone since. I’m walking down the main road in Jockey Ville now; this road has a bunch of shops that are locally owned. I pass Mr. Garners’ Barber Shop and Mrs. Lewinski’s Flower Shop, they’re both my neighbors, I live right in-between them. Mr. Garners has a two story house, painted white with blue trim. His house looks like something a four-year-old would draw, with the pointy roof and the one rectangular window on the second floor that overlooks the road. Mrs. Lewinski on the other hand has a really modern house, for being the 60-year-old woman she is. Almost the whole front of her house is a glass window with automatic blinds that I think are set on a timer because even if she’s not home they’ll open and close. Her house has a white glossy finish and her roof is flat, but the whole right half of it slopes up then has a 90° drop creating a right triangle on that half of the roof. I think the attic is in there but it looks a little too small to fit anything inside, but how would I know, I’ve never been in her house nor do I ever want to be. I was looking for sex offenders in my neighborhood on a website because I was bored one day and found out that she was one, the only one in all of Jockey Ville. She doesn’t look like a bad woman, but if she ever invited me over for milk and cookies I would flat out say no! We finally arrive at home and as expected, my mom does the same routine she does every time. Most of the time it’s only my bro, my mom, and I home at night because my dad works at night as a factory supervisor in the next town over. My mother and I sit down at the table with the food already prepared while my brother goes upstairs to clean up. Mom says grace and I pile my plate with food while mom just takes a little bit of everything. “How was school today?” my mom asks. I don’t know why she asks me this every time I come home because it’s always the same answer. “Nothing special, as usual, just a bunch of fascists, egotistical, metrosexual, assholes, whose common goal is to look as plastic as possible.” I reply arrogantly. Okay that’s not what I usually say, I usually just say “Nothing.”, but today I especially didn’t like any of them. “Curtis Alex Turner!” my mom snapped. “How dare you use that language in this household, at this dinner table!” “Sorry mom, I’m just fed up with everyone at school” I say with the slight tone of anger in my voice. “Do you want to talk about it?” she asks. I shake my head no and for the rest of dinner no words are spoken. When I’m done with my plate I carry it to the sink, wash it off and put it in one of the racks on the dish washer to let it dry. “I guess Alec wasn’t hungry tonight” I thought to myself. I head up to our room and lay down on my bed. As I’m lying down staring at the ceiling I start to feel tired, my eyes get heavier and heavier but before I close my eyes I glance at my brothers bed. All I see is my younger brother shivering. I get up to go check on him and his eyes are shut and he’s sweating. He must been having a bad dream. I decide to gently wake him up but he stops shaking once I make contact. I assume that everything is okay so I head back into bed and slowly but surely I fall asleep. My mom wakes me up some time later and tells me to take a shower because I stink, I smell my clothes and under my arms. I don’t think I stink, but I don’t argue, I go into the bathroom, get undressed, turn the shower on, get in, and begin to take a shower. I’m glad my mom woke me up, because this hot water feels so good right now, because I don’t want to get out. But this sensation doesn’t last very long as I recall last night when my brother shivering. I need to find out what happened. As I walk in the room I notice that Alec’s not in his bed. “He must’ve gone downstairs” I thought I get dressed and head downstairs and lo and behold he was sitting on the couch. But he didn’t seem his usual happy self. I sit down beside him and ask him what’s wrong. “What’s up Bro? What’s getting you all down?” I asked. “I heard you guys arguing last night” He said quietly. Shit! “Then I had dream that our whole family got separated and I never saw you guys again” After he said that I didn’t know what to say so I simply held him. “Everything will be alright; I’ll never leave you behind. Your my brother, not only that you’re my twin brother.” I said gently “You promise?” Alec asked while looking up to me. As he stared at me, I could see tears starting form. “I promise” I stated firmly “Now let’s head to school” As we walked out of the house the town seemed more vivid, the sky was bluer, the grass was greener, and there was just an overall good feeling in the air. “Today’s going to be a good day” I thought.
