The Conversion Bureau: Humanity's demon
Chapter 1: Tables Turned [Rewrite]
On the year 2019, an island suddenly appeared in the middle of Earth's ocean, along with a new species. Ponies, they seemed harmless and we introduced them to our world. Their leader, Princess Celestia, wasn’t pleased at the behavior of humanity.
The island where they came from was named Equestria, a rather big piece of their 'pure' and 'harmonious' world. Along with them came a magic barrier in which human beings or machinery cannot survive inside, only the inhabitants of Equestria were able to go back and forth said barrier. For the ones that wanted to migrate there, Celestia found a solution.
A potion that is capable to convert a human into a pony, Celestia publicly announced the potion worldwide, claiming that humanity is rotten, unfit to inhabit their own planet and this is the only way for them to be pure, also talking about pollution, their greed and more. Ponification centers called conversion bureaus were built all around the world, the ones that had willingly agreed were way too few.
About 5,000 humans were converted into ponies, seeing numbers this low the sun regent held a conference, asking why they don’t want to be ponified.
The results were as expected.
A mass majority of the population wanted to keep their humanity, they wanted to stay with their freedom, continuing to be themselves instead of a mindless puppet for the sun princess. The converted humans were not even the shadow of what they were, they were no longer rude, violent nor even swore. Constantly praising their new princess and always saying that everyone should be a pony as well, people rendered into mindless puppets for the single purpose of praising their new queen.
Riots and protest arose, rebelling against Celestia and claiming that she had no right to judge them like that. The entire world was against her so called ‘only choice for salvation’, excluding ponies out of some countries. Enraged at this act, Celestia sent out her troops to bomb them with the ponification potions.
The conversion bureaus around the world were taken down one by one, few of them left. The barrier extended around the world to an extent and the Equestrian troops took over the places where the population was ponified.
Equestria had declared war on the world. Humanity was falling victim to the potion’s effects quickly and their numbers were falling, this new potion turned humans into ponies against their will unlike the other one. A more obvious chemical weapon than the 'cure' offered before.
Humanity had created the Human Liberation Front, while the Equestrian forces had created the Ponies for Earth’s Rebirth group, the forces had battled with eachother time and time again, but not all ponies were with Celestia’s ideals and not all humans agreed on rebelling against her. Species of both worlds were in both sides of this worldwide war.
But soon enough, the barrier extended further, and humanity was getting short on numbers.
2021, Toronto, Canada.
The battle raged through the ruined city, magic blast and gunfire covered the whole area as the HLF soldiers tried to stand their ground while the unicorn troops of the PER deflected their gunfire and the pegasi troops were busy with the jets trying to take them down.
The HLF soldiers had themselves behind a man-made barricade made out of debris, cars and more. One had engaged an earth pony only to have himself thrown a potion from the sky, he screamed and held his head as his skin was changing, his from getting smaller and his fingers disappearing, he eventually was knocked out cold and now was a light yellow pegasus colt.
Before the soldiers could react the kid was taken up by a pegasus and got away with him. That would be the case if a sniper didn’t shoot at him and the newborn when he crash landed.
Enraged at the loss of their friends they shot at them with more fierce, but that proved to be useless as the unicorn troops defended their earth pony companions. Though they didn’t gave up just yet, there was to be a way.
However, the HLF’s had a base underground, the rescued civilians were safe in there along with the other soldiers and two ponies. One of them was a mint colored unicorn mare with a HLF jacket on and the other was a cream colored earth pony with a violet streak on her dark blue mane who was cuddling with the unicorn, though she has a rather large scar on her neck.
Even down there, the gunfire and explosions from the battle that was taking place can still be heard, a little girl embraced her mother tightly in fear. The unicorn gritted her teeth, but she remained calm even in this situation, though she couldn’t believe that it had come to this.
“Are we really going with this?” Asked a slightly built soldier with a blue bandana and white short hair.
“I’m afraid so Ace,” Replied the unicorn pony “If we don’t, they will win instead.”
“Seriously?!” Asked another one with three scars on his face “Need I remind you that it almost melted the antarctic in the last test?” He stared at the unicorn slightly enraged.
“I know, but-” She got cut off as another pony entered the room, even though the lab coat covers it, she had a grey coat, a ponytail manestyle and she was wearing frameless glasses.
“We’ve done what we could,” She said hinting a smile.
At the lab they stared at the capsule while the pony scientist worked on the computer, inside the capsule was a fair-skinned man with his eyes closed and a scar on his right cheek, he has black spiky black hair reaching to about his neck with short bangs framing his forehead. He wears an armor colored dark with light green, matching white boots, wristbands, and a light-green sash tied on his waist, along with black bands with white edges on his arms. Lastly was his purple pants and a metallic collar that unlocked by itself as the scientist mare typed away on a terminal near his capsule.
“You sure he is stable now Silver Spoon?” The unicorn asked at the scientist who turned the chair to look at them.
“Of course Lyra!” She replied “After all I am a mad scientist….sonuvabitch.” She struck a pose that had her pointing at them while whispering the last sentence.
“I know, that’s what worries me.” Lyra rolled her eyes as the mare at her side nodded. "Also the scars he got from previous tests."
“Hey ‘mad scientist’, what’s up with the collar on him? Is it to make him behave?” Ace got close to the capsule and took a closer look at the man inside.
“Actually yes, yes it is.” Silver Spoon giggles and brought a hoof at her mouth as she kept working. "I'm glad you're catching on to this stuff."
“You’re the only one I know that would laugh at a time like this.” Ace’s radio started to beep as well as crackle to life and picked it up “What’s the situation?”
“They are completely screwing us over here!” The soldier on the other line said as the sounds of explosions and magic blasts were heard “They got two of them on their side! We can't hold on anymore!! AAAHH!” All that was heard now was static.
Lyra had seen many humans going down like this time and time again, mostly at the hooves of the elements of harmony, or generals as they call them on Equestria. No one spoke for the time being, but they quickly realized that they didn’t had time to mourn as the explosion now sounded a bit louder.
“So…” Silver Spoon spoke up first, staring at them with a dark smile.
“Well, what are you waiting for?” Lyra stared back at her with determination “Release out gentle giant!”
The HLF soldiers were quickly being turned into newfoals as the potions rained from the pegasi PER troops and picked them up. On the ground was an orange blond pony with a stetson hat making way with the ground forces, while on the air was a cyan rainbow maned pony bearing a smug of her face.
“Ha! That’s a new record Applejack!” She flied down to the orange pony with a smug on her face “Gotta step up your game, I’m completely crushing you today!”
“Rainbow Dash, this ain’t the time for silly competitions,” Applejack trotted ahead of her with a scowl “We are saving a misguided race for goodness’ sake.”
“Pfft, somepony's cranky that I’m winning.” Rainbow smirked as she flew on her back.
While Applejack’s inner competitiveness made her kinda mad that she is winning, despite being working on the battlefield. She shook those thoughts away, this isn’t time for that, she had humans to make pure.
The PER troops stopped on their tracks with the newfoals in hoof when they heard an ear piercing scream followed by an earthquake, the buildings shook along with them, making the newfoals embrace the ponies they held them, soon enough the earthquake came to a stop. Everyone looked at an abandoned house where they heard the scream from.
“W-W-What was that?” Applejack asked as she was shaking.
“It sounded like someone is in danger, I’m going to check out.” Before anyone could stop her, she flew fast towards the abandoned house.
But Rainbow Dash halted in mid air as the front door of the house was obliterated and it was somehow covered in a thick cloud of smoke. Dash got closer to the house, soon hearing footsteps getting closer and closer until a weirdly dressed man in armor with black eyes got out of the house looking very calm.
The smoke cleared while Dash and the other ponies stared at the man without saying a word, he wasn’t attacking them nor he was cursing at them whatsoever, but Applejack saw the terrified look of the newfoals, something was very wrong.
“Hey, did you break out of here all by yourself?” Dash broke the ice and the man now stared at her silently “Not much of a talker, huh?” The man still didn’t answer her, but she thought she saw his eye twitching while staring at her.
“Here,” She took out a glass with a pink liquid in it and held it out to the man “Don’t give us much trouble and drink the potion, being a pony is way more cooler than being a human anyway, so chug.”
The mysterious man took the potion and examined it from top to bottom, he took out the cap and drank down the entire potion before giving a sigh. Rainbow Dash smiled and Applejack mirrored his action.
“Welcome to the he-” Rainbow got flown all the way to a crumbled building before she could finish. She didn’t knew what hit her or what was so strong to take her out so fast, so she broke herself out and reunited with Applejack after she wiped the blood on the side of her lips. It didn't help her that the hit made her vision go dizzy.
“Okay, what just happened?” Rainbow didn’t get an answer as she shook her head, everypony was frozen in fear with wide eyes, unable to even utter a word, even Applejack. She waved a hoof to every single one of the PER troops, but their eyes seemed to be locked at the direction of the house and she noticed something else.
The wind was picking up, and all the pegasi were still frozen in place tembling.
She looked at where they were looking, she instantly regretted it. The same man that she was talking to earlier was surrounded by some kind of green aura which was creating an incredible gust of wind and his hair waved along with it. He held his arms low and spread, his hair and clothes were waving too as he looked down back at them now looking utterly furious.
“What the heck is this guy?!” Then Rainbow Dash noticed something as her vision cleared, he had taken the potion completely and nothing happened, it wasn’t working on him. Just what is he?! He is not a human, whatever he was she couldn’t risk the lives of everypony here. The cries of the newfoals snapped Applejack out of her state.
“Monster!”
“He’s scary!”
“I wanna go home!”
“He can’t be pure, he can’t be cured, it’s a bigger abomination than humans!”
“Applejack,” Rainbow puts s hoof on her shoulder and looked at her seriously “You take the newfoals and go.”
“But Rainbow-”
“Just go! I’ll be fine.” The cyan pony turned around and flew back into the mysterious man’s location.
Applejack rounded up the groups, telling them to back off and immediately opening a pink portal, she didn’t want to leave her best friend behind but she figured that she can take care of herself. The PER troops started to go inside the portal, but the man looked at the portal’s direction snarling to himself as his eyes changed to an amber color, they wouldn’t get away so easily.
Everything flashed green until that flash went into the man’s left hand and turned into a green shining energy ball, he reached his arm back and threw the energy at the portal while screaming, Rainbow noticed this and stopped to warn her.
“Applejack watch out!” Rainbow shouted at her “He’s after you!”
The farmed pony looked just in time to see the energy ball approaching, she jumped into the portal as soon as the last pony went through it, but almost at that time the energy ball reached the portal and caused a huge explosion.
The impact shockwave was too much for Rainbow Dash to take, she landed on the ground and held on to whatever piece of building was left to not get blown away. As the explosion subdued all that was left was a giant crater and a huge puff of smoke, watching at the roof of the secret HLF base of this city was the scientist mare laughing at this spectacle while her companions looked in horror.
“Holy mother of fuck, what the hell did you do with this guy?!” Ace asked in disbelief.
“I'm afraid the answer to the question is long and confidential.” Silver Spoon replied as she watched her masterpiece with a wide grin.
“We didn’t had any choice Ace, Celestia was asking for it.” Lyra just stared at the gigantic crater without any compassion.
Rainbow Dash had barely time to recover until the mysterious man appeared before her with a scowl, the guy was as tall as Princess Celestia herself and being this close to him made her feel a gigantic dread on her chest.
The man kicked her hard in which she was sent flying again, but the man quickly grabbed her tail and threw her back to the ground, hearing something crack as she impacted with such a great force and blood spill from the flier.
But he did not stop there, the man kept screaming before grabbing Rainbow’s tail and slam her down to the ground, repeating the process slamming her down to the ground besides his sides, lots of debris flying up until the man stopped and released her, throwing her through the windows of another ruined building.
The man still wasn’t done, charging another energy ball he threw it at the spot where the pegasus landed and the building collapsed in a smaller explosion than the other one. His stare of anger fixed on where she landed still sensing her internal magic from within. She was still alive yet wounded, he could feel it.
“Is that the one Applejack?” A new voice spoke and the man turned behind him spotting the pony that got away along with four new companions.
“Y-Yes Twilight, he’s the one.” Applejack held on to her purple friend despite being bruised all over.
“Ugh, he even looks like a savage too.” Commented the white unicorn one staring at the giant with narrowed eyes.
The yellow pegasus one stared at him with wide eyes and hid behind her friends while whimpering.
“Oh don’t worry girls,” Spoke the pink earth pony one with a stupid toothy smile “He’s just grumpy, with the work of my Pinkie magic everything be fixed super duper fast.” She then hopped over to him, clearly not a good idea to anyone that wasn't Pinkie.
“Hi! my name is Pinkie Pie,” She suddenly popped right besides the man showering him with confetti “Doyoulikepartiesilovepartiesyoureallyshouldntbehereallgreedyandneedyallthetimetrytheponificationpotiinsureithurtsatfirstbutitisfinelaterbythewaywhereisdashieidontseedashiearoundhere.” And she went on and on talking in that squeaky hyper fast voice, how could any living being talk like this is a complete mystery, but it made the man's eye twitch again.
“Pinkie!” The purple one called at her friend “We are here to rescue Rainbow Dash, remember? Not to mention that the potion doesn’t work on him!”
“It doesn’t?!” Pinkie said as she got backhanded and flung back to her friends, crashing into them.
But the man noticed one of them was missing, he stared at the sky and saw the yellow pegasus carrying the cyan one unconscious on her back. The man was about to charge his attack when a pair of orange hooves tried to hit him in the chest, to no avail, instead it made the orange mare yelp and hug her back legs on the ground.
“Sweet Celestia, is that guy made out of steel or something?!” Applejack cried as she held on her aching legs and was flung away rolling on the ground via another kick.
It was Twilight’s turn now, the man walked towards her as she shot a purple magic last, but it had no effect either as it dispelled on contact. She then tried to teleport him as her purple aura overcomes him, an effort that did not stop him and that aura eventually became green, breaking her useless magic over him.
Before she could do anything else the man sprinted to her and sent her flying into more rubble by punching her right in the horn, hearing another sickening crack. Twilight got up from the rubble feeling the trace of blood going down from her forehead and just now feeling the incredible pain on her forehead, she found a piece of glass that she gladly didn’t hit and looked down on it with her vision slowly getting darker and her body starting to succumb to unconsciousness.
Her horn had cracks on it and blood pouring out of those cracks, she couldn’t believe it, a mere human was strong enough to break her horn with one single hit. Not only that, but he was impervious to magic and the ponification potion, he wasn’t a human nor a mere monster, he was a demon. At this rate they are gonna lose quick.
“Twilight! We gotta go, hurry!” Pinkie called up to her as she and her friends entered another portal.
At risk of being caught by the horrific man, she made a run for it despite her body starting to give out and leaped through it with the last of her strength. The man watched as the portal closed, he had let them go for now, he was going to deal with them and their forced numerous times anyway. The man’s aura disappeared and his hair got back to normal, grunting to himself as he started to breathe in through his nose and his eyes turn back to black.
“Holy crap,” Silver Spoon stared while whistling as the man stood in the middle of the ruined city “Our creation was a success! Now the tables have really turned!” The scientist mare smiled as the guard Ace and Lyra went back into the base to tell everyone the good news.
‘Maybe,’ Lyra thought of an idea ‘Maybe he can push back the barrier, but I still don't know if this is a good idea. How can we be sure to not destroy ourselves thanks to this.’
Back at the underground base, the citizens were glad to know the results of today’s battle, but some still worried about the barrier. An evacuation plan might need to be executed right now to lose their tail and they waited for a ship for extraction, but for Lyra it was bizarre seeing the last resort of humanity scratching the mute cream mare behind her ear with a smile. Maybe she was worrying for nothing? One can't be too sure with all that has happened.
It was at that day, that humanity had finally begun to take advantage. Equestria knew fear that day, even if they did ran away, they didn’t return unscathed.
Little did they know, that was only the start of their problems.
Author's Note
I know the Conversion Bureau is deader than disco and all, but I was bored and felt like being mercilessly cruel to fictional characters. Also bored and didn't had much to do.
Despite me treating this as a 90's movie action film of sorts, I wanna make this as enjoyable and readable as possible. Like just having fun with fight scenes while having some sort of logic, if possible. Plus Dragonball Super Broly is much better than the original Broly
Like it or not, it's all good. Hope you enjoy it and I'll see if I can write more chapters.
