This story takes place about 1.5 years after the emergence of the Crystal Empire and starts with a pair of Night Guards who were just recieving their quarterly assignments to their patrol team that scans the Crystal Mountains to the far north. Their assignment was one with the royal seal on it so they have to report all findings on the mystery hidden in the Crystal Mountains.
