The shot moves to a close-up of the curtain and you see the shadow of Dash raise her hooves up to defend herself as the tendrils appear to pierce through her. "Uh-Oh. Without you or her knowing, thorny tendrils that have come through the door has gripped her back hooves and pulled her into the dark outside as she screamed in fear. "Uh-Oh. Tutorial Level : Jump?Dash readies herself for a leap, but the tendril swipes out and crashes Dash through the wall, never to be seen again. GAME OVERWould you like to start again? Y/N? Tutorial Level : CompleteDash swiped her sword into the plant beast, expecting it to clash into it. As she finished her swing, she saw the plant monster actually vanish away. Taking a quick look to her sword to see if there was any plant residue, she slid the sword into her sheath. Taking another look toward the castle, this time through her now non-existant wall of her house, she nodded to herself and began sprinting towards her destination. "Good luck, brave adventurer. Keep your wit with you, your sword sharp, and your reflex tight." Click here to start your first trial towards the Dragon's Lair! Castle Entrance : StruggleKicking her hooves, Dash tries to both shoo away the creature and pull herself up. Unfortunately, neither one comes to pass as all four of the tentacles wrap around her in a vice-like grip and pull her into the water. You watch as Dash gets pulled into the dark water until she is no longer seen. RESTART Give Up Castle Entrance : SwipeDash pulls out her sword and swipes it at the eyeball-things. They pull into the water to avoid being hit and gives Dash plenty of time to pull herself back up and run through the entrance, getting out of their reach. As she enters, two metal gates crash down behind her as she moves on to the next room. *** Dash eventually reaches a room with three doors, one to her left, one in front, and one on the right. As she makes one more step forward, the room begins to collapse! The sudden jolt makes Dash veer towards the left towards the newly made chasm! TIMER: 0:05 - Click here if you didn't make a decision in time... ↑ ← → ↓ Collapsing Room: CrushedDash's usual speed fails her as she looks above her and then yells out before trying to cover her head from the falling rocks. The ceiling covers her body completely, crushing her to death. Guard's RoomWith a mighty chop of her sword, Dash cuts the tentacle, making blood spurt out for a flash of a moment before it vanishes in a blue light. As her swing finishes, more tentacles sprout behind her. She looks briefly to her right and sees the door has opened. All three of them wrap around Dash, covering her mouth, body, and legs before lifting her up into the hole in the ceiling. Guard's Room: New BlanketSeeing the tentacles approach her, Dash quickly attempted to draw her sword. However, before she can make an attempt to strike, the large number of tentacles wrap her up tightly, only leaving her head open as it turns bluer than usual. Guard's Room: Access DeniedAs Dash leaps over more tentacles that now come from the ceiling, she sees the door shut right in front of her. How devilish! The only other option of escape now is to the stairs! TIMER: 0:05 - Click here if you didn't make a decision in time...↑ ← → ↓ Attack! Guard's Room - Up We Go!As Dash goes partway up the open staircase, the tentacles now cover the floor. Not only that, but now they blocked the stairway exit! Guard's Room: Swipe on the StairsWith little time to think, Dash attacks the tentacles blocking her way. Her negation to the rest of the tentacles however proves to be the end of her as they wrap her entirely and drag her up the hole in the ceiling as she screams in fear. Misty Room: Red on YellowThe snake snaps on Dash before she can make her move. It hangs on her for a moment as she struggles, her limbs becoming numb as the snake now begins to wrap itself around her. Her eyes flutter briefly as they cloud up. Misty Room: SlashDash's fast movement of her sword decapitates the snake and makes it fade away. But if the snake is gone, why is there still the sound of HISSING? Misty Room: No Surprise HereTurning quickly, Dash momentarily gasped before taking a stance and swiping the head off of the snake that appeared. Geez, how many snakes are in-? Misty Room: Ew-ew-ew-ew!Unconsciously, Dash pulled the rope that hung on the ceiling. You know, the one with the skull? Before Dash can freak out over touching a dead ponies skull, a rope ladder rolls out from the ceiling and bumps into the snake, causing it to hide in the mist. Swinging FireMoving up the ladder, Dash briefly looked back and saw that the snake who'd been hit by the ladder had attempted to jump up and get her. Thankfully, her climbing ability is only second to her flying, that is if her flying wasn't being hindered by the magic of the wizard's power that is... As Dash pulled herself up, she wiped some sweat from her face. Geez, she's either getting winded or something is really hot nearby. To answer her question, the moment she stepped into the next room, the sight of fire leaping up from the deep pit and swinging ropes with their ends on fire greeted her. With a slight groan, Dash realized the door behind her shut. What's worse, the platform she was on was sliding back! "Uh-oh," she let out. Swinging Fire: The PitsDash fell forward into the fire, trying to right herself as she fell down in vain to perhaps reach the ropes. Her scream of agony reached up as the flames engulfed her. Swinging Fire: *Insert Tarzan Yell*Swinging Fire: *Insert Tarzan Yell* Dash held on tight to the second rope and watched the other side reveal itself to be a door! Even better is that it's open! Pool RoomAnd she not only sticks the landing, she does it with a flourish! Dash takes in a bit of pride as she moves out of the hot room. The air already begins to cool her off as she tries to shake off the slight ash that managed to catch in her wings. Even better, she seems to have found a neat looking pool room! The pool sits in front of her with a door to the other side. Dash briefly thinks over jumping in the pool for a quick swim when the room begins to quake, catching her off guard. TIMER: 0:05 - Click here if you didn't make a decision in time... ↑ ← → ↓ Attack! Pool Room: Rollin'Dash rolled forward, now to the left of the pool. The sound of wind being sliced through came from behind Dash. Before she could take solace in the fact that she may have been impaled, the floor around her began collapsing. Before she vanishes into the dark, you can hear her scream in fear, the deep crevice echoing her last sound of life. Pool Room: Knife Spelled with an FDash moved her hooves up in front of her to defend herself as a torrent of knives flew out and impaled into her. Her body went limp as it began to fall down the hole behind her. Pool Room: Sneaky SnakesThe underwater snakes now surround Dash, not only restricting her limbs, but dragging her to the bottom of the pool as the last of her air escapes her lungs. Pool Room: CrushedDash's usual speed fails her as she looks above her and then yells out before trying to cover her head from the falling rocks. The ceiling covers her body completely, crushing her to death. Pool Room: All Wrapped UpThe spider latched onto Dash's face and immediately covered her body in a cocoon. Dash's muffled screams went silent as she fell to the floor. Pool Room: Cannonball!Dash took a dive into the pool and swam forward for a few paddles underwater. The walls of the pools opened in front, behind, and right of her, revealing underwater snakes! TIMER: 0:05 - Click here if you didn't make a decision in time... ↑ ← → ↓ Attack! Pool Room: Time to Towel OffPulling herself out of the pool, Dash dripped water for a moment before another rumble came from above her. With the pool with snakes, the wall leading nowhere, and the chasm blocking her way. She knew she was in trouble. TIMER: 0:05 - Click here if you didn't make a decision in time... ↑ ← → ↓ Attack! Pool Room: Bug Buster - Lives: 3Swiping at the spider, it vanished in a blink of light. Getting to the doorway, Dash briefly stopped to catch her breath before realizing the floor below her was moving. The ceiling was also moving down on top of her! TIMER: 0:05 - Click here if you didn't make a decision in time... The door slid open as the two sides began to make things more cramped for her. ↑ ← → ↓ Attack! Pool Room: Supermare - Lives: 3Figuring her strength will keep her alive, Dash rolled on her back and pushed against the falling ceiling. Sadly, even if she wasn't slightly tired from the effort she did in the room, the result still remains that she gets crushed by both the pillars. Witch's Brew: Toxic - Lives: 3The bubbling green acid wraps around the legs of Dash and a look of paralyzed pain goes through her face before it too gets engulfed. Witch's Brew: Nah-AHHHHHH! - Lives: 3You kindly put the potion aw- CELESTIA WHAT'S THAT?! TIMER: 0:05 - Click here if you didn't make a decision in time... Dash jumps back and sees the bubbling brew now has a face! A dragon's face? A monsters face? Whatever it is, JUST KILL IT! ↑ ← → ↓ Attack! Witch's Brew: Acid can't chew that way!The large head of the acidic monster that had formed chomps down on Dash, the sound of crunching as her rear hooves dangle just out of its jaws. Witch's Brew: This is a No Smoking Zone! - Lives: 3The swing of Dash's sword blows away the smoke witch and a quick look next to the fire gives Dash an idea. Slamming the lid down on the cauldron, she gives a quick pump of her hoof in the air in victory. Her victory is met with the sudden movement of the bubbling liquid again. Witch's Brew: In the Hooves of a Zebra - Lives: 3The zebra clacks its smoky clawed hooves over Dash's body, trapping her in its grasp before lighting up and blowing up, the room now engulfed in flames as the screen goes dark. Goonish Attack - Lives: 3Getting away from the beast, the door shut behind Dash. The hallway was practically uneventful, it just sloped up and towards a hatch in the ceiling. Opening the hatch, Dash pulled herself up and let it shut as she stood in a room with a spiral staircase to the next door. Seemed simple enough, no gimmicks, no tricks, just a door. Oh, and a CHITTERING sound behind her. TIMER: 0:05 - Click here if you didn't make a decision in time... ↑ ← → ↓ Attack! Goonish Attack: ShishkaDash - Lives: 3Before Dash can react, a changeling jumps onto her back and sinks its teeth into her neck. Dash falls to the ground as a chomping sound of meat is heard. Goonish Attack: Falling Down - Lives: 3Dash leaps and hopes her wings can work in this room, but realizes too quickly that the magic is keeping her wings secure to her side. As she falls, her scream of terror echoes off the walls and begins to go silent. Goonish Attack: You are surrounded! - Lives: 3Dash jumps to the changelings, making them briefly back off. They reposition themselves to block the door and stairs and begin moving in on her. Dash, hoping to get some space, stepped backward and began falling to her doom. Her yell of fear as she was unable to fly echoing around the room as it slowly silenced itself. Goonish Attack: Run! - Lives: 3With little time to prepare, Dash began her run up the stairs, hoping to get some distance between herself and her chasers. From above, Dash noticed another pair of changelings blocking her path UP. TIMER: 0:05 - Click here if you didn't make a decision in time... ↑ ← → ↓ Attack! Goonish Attack: Taken Down - Lives: 3The changelings all gang up on Dash, jumping and piling on top of her. Wet Stairs - Lives: 3Barreling ahead, Dash heard the door shut behind her. Taking a look around, she noticed a large metal door and chain across from a square pit. Giving a quick think, Dash started her way to the small ledge where she could cross. The moment she stepped down what she had thought to be stairs, she began to slide down a flat wet surface. A small remnant of the stairs remained. She also saw a circular opening that opened. The stairs have switched to a slippery floor once again! The cauldron begins bubbling up even more, suddenly spewing out an acidic brew everywhere except near the alchemy table. Without warning, the wood underneath Dash's hooves gave way and four seprate eyeballs on tentacles came up from the moat below her. She had to SHAKE them away somehow. Dash watched as Princess Sparkle get pulled into the door on the other side of the room. Giving a grunt, Dash went to move forward as the door shut when a black suit of armor appeared in a sparking light. Dash noticed that the armor had no one in it, its limbs moving on its own. It looks like your typical witch's room, cauldron in the center, an alchemy table in the left-hoof corner, and finally the exit is to the right. The door is shut, so escape isn't viable... yet. The cauldron begins bubbling up even more, suddenly spewing out an acidic brew everywhere except near the alchemy table. The cauldron smokes up and forms a threatening looking zebra, instead of hooves it has claws and razor sharp teeth. It's form still retains it's fume and looks ready to tear into Dash. Lifting up into the air, Dash was ready to take off when suddenly she felt her control of her wings taken away. Before she began moving, her face fell in fear. Tutorial Level: StartYou pick the option to start the tutorial. It's better to absolutely know what you're doing instead of just stabbing in the dark. "Hello, new adventurer! Welcome to Dragon's Lair! You control Dash the Daring as she goes to rescue Princess Twilight. But you have to know how in order to complete the game, right?" The cabinet shows Dash, she's not wearing armor or carrying a sword. However, you can see a nice dressing shade set up with her armor wear hidden behind it. "Dash, give a little wave to the player that will help you on your quest." Dash the Daring gives a sideways glance to you and waves to you. "Alright player, what will happen is that you will be given a time counter to the top right of the screen. Be sure to make a decision before the timer reaches zero (This is based on an honor system, so please don't cheat...) You must make a decision to move to a specific area by going forward, backward, left, or right. In fact, let's start off by making Dash go to her right in order to look out the window to the castle." Tutorial Level : RightDash gives a look out the window and sees the dark and gloomy castle that stands at the top of the hill. As she watches, she sees a dragon fly overhead carrying something. Using her keen vision she sees it's Princess Sparkle in the claw of the dragon! The dragon flies around the castle a few times and lands behind it. Taking this as a call for action, Dash feels ready to get suited up. "Looks like Dash is ready for adventure, but before I tell you what needs to be done. Let me explain the color that was placed on right. Each direction is coded for a specific color. Red for right, yellow for left, blue for up, and green for down. This will assist you in making decisions on surviving in the castle. However, be careful on how the colors are presented as they may trick you if you do not read the segment fully! Dash gave a slightly annoyed expression at the screen and tapped her hoof on the floor. "Sorry! Sorry! Just letting your helper know how to save you from imminent death that's all." Tutorial Level : Left- Time Over (WARNING)Despite being wound up for action, the sudden crash of Dash's door catches her off-guard and is promptly crushed by thorned tendrils. "Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock. Better move fast on the draw or else you'll lose entirely. I'll give you one last chance, and if you are unable to respond in time or make the wrong move, it's Game Over." RESTART
Tutorial Level : Left-Attack! (WARNING)Dash flexes and looks fairly confident in her ability as an adventurer. Sadly, this puffed up machismo is promptly popped by thorned tendrils that burst through the door, wrap her up, and drag her outside to be killed. "Bit eager on the button, I see. It's not time for it yet. Follow my instruction when we begin again or find yourself slightly poorer, and dumber for wasting my time." RESTART
Tutorial Level : LeftDash, now knowing of the perils that Princess Sparkle has fallen into, rushes to the dressing curtain and throws on her armor. Along with the armor is her ever trusty sword, the weapon all brave and aspiring adventurers desire to own. As she steps out, fanfare begins to play as the lighted room reflects the metal that she wears, making her look angelic. When the shining lights go down, the door suddenly bursts open and Dash turns to face multiple thorny tendrils that blocks her way out. "HOLD UP!" The shot freezes as Dash stares up at the tendrils that now tower over her. "This is your true test in this tutorial. You will be given ONE chance to complete this segment as I give you instructions. The moment you stray from my instruction, it will be the moment your game will end. Now, remember the color coding for movement, I'll let you know when it is your time to attack this plant beast when it comes, but for now, it's time to dodge it's advances. Tutorial Level : JumpDash leaps over the tendril as it brings down half of the house on top of it. From the doorway, Dash can see the center of the plant monster as it screams in agony. "Freeze!" The screen stops in its place before any notations come up. "Now that you're familiar with the color code system, it's time for you to learn of your Attack! system. To know when to swing your sword, find any words that are fully CAPITALIZED. It's easy to spot, but that means it'll cut your time to make your move. So be wary when you look over the situation. Castle EntranceThe shot opened to the exterior of the castle. As Dash rounded up the hill, she could see the trees and thorned branches reaching up and towards the castle, as though the earth itself wanted to partake in the dark forces that were at work inside the walls. The crescent moon of Luna's hung above, clouds hanging near it, partially covering up it's already dim light. Dash reached the front of the caste, noticing that the drawbridge to the inside was down. Odd to think that a castle would just leave its drawbridge out for anypony to step inside. Erring on the side of caution, Dash slowly trot across the bridge. Without warning, the wood underneath Dash's hooves gave way and four seprate eyeballs on tentacles came up from the moat below her. She had to SHAKE them away somehow. Collapsing Room: FallingDash plummets down the dark chasm, the wizard's magic restricting her ability to fly. Before she vanishes into the dark, you can hear her scream in fear, the deep crevice echoing her last sound of life.
Collapsing Room: EvasionTaking the door to the right and NOT chancing the jump, Dash runs through it just in time before being crushed by the falling stone ceiling. Dash now enters into what seems to be the guard's room. A small table sits in front of her, weapons in their holding spot stand behind it. A staircase to the right leads upwards and a door beyond the table has just shut itself. Before going further, Dash hears a faint growl and briefly looks around her before seeing a squid-like appendage before her eyes coming out from a hole in the ceiling. She REACHES for her sword. Guard's Room: Table DancingWith some quick thinking, Dash jumps to the only spot that hasn't been infested with this beast's long tendrils, the table! Taking in a gasp of air, she notes that the door slides open again! With all the tentacles now surrounding her, there's only one direction she can take. Misty RoomJumping through the doorway, the door once again shuts. The sound of a thump lets you know that the beast isn't going to be able to get you now. From that bright room, Dash now stands in a very dark and fogged up room. A skull on a rope hangs from the ceiling and two gates on the right and left remain shut as she takes in her surroundings. A loud hiss comes from the ceiling, letting Dash know something is in the room. TIMER: 0:05 - Click here if you didn't make a decision in time... A long snake snaps out of a hole in the ceiling and OPENS its large jaws. ↑ ← → ↓ Attack!
