Chapter Twenty-Four “Enough is Enough!”
He looked fine. It wasn’t a big deal.
Peter blankly stared at the mares that surrounded his position. Emergency meetings were the worst. Whenever the herd had one, Peter was at the forefront. Usually, they talked, voiced their complaints, and a compromise was met. However, this was different. The girls had no intention of talking. Peter furrowed his brow, glancing to the side. Rainbow gripped one of his hooves, holding it to the ground while Applejack and Trixie did the same with his other limbs. Rarity lowered her head until she was in Peter’s line of sight, a pair of scissors levitating by her head. It wasn’t that big of a deal. Really! “I think you girls are blowing this way out of proportion,” Peter groaned, shifting his hooves. Rainbow Dash tightened her grip. “No way, dude. You need this!” Rarity’s lips curled into an evil smile. “We tried to reason with you, but you refused to listen, darling.” Applejack turned her body, keeping Peter’s leg in a joint lock. “Pete. Come on. Just make this easier for yourself and us.” Peter scoffed. He had super strength, enough to knock a dragon out with a single punch. Peter could toss the ponies around like NFL quarterbacks throw footballs down the field, but the stallion sighed, knowing he wouldn’t even consider an option that would hurt his mares. Pausing, Peter considered their words. None of the girls ever lied, at least when it came to honest opinions. If they were going this far to carry out an objective, it must have been serious. Peter rolled his eyes. Mares had a horrible tendency to blow the smallest things out of proportion, but there was one who always voiced the earnest truth. Peter frowned, directing his gaze to Trixie. “Hey. Is it that bad?” He thought it looked nice. It was different. Fluttershy liked it, but Spitfire thought it was a bit frilly. Trixie shook her head, patting Peter’s hoof. “I am sorry, but your head looks like a watermelon when you wear the mask.” Rarity sighed, using her magic to stretch Peter’s strands of mane out as far as they could go. “Your mane is simply too long now. You haven’t cut it once ever since we first met.” Applejack nodded. “Sorry, partner, but we think you look better with your mane short.” The scissors snipped, cutting away the loose ends. Rarity’s smile couldn’t grow any wider. “You will look marvelous! Trust me.” Peter rolled his eyes. “Eh, it’s not like you’re giving me a choice.” Trixie grinned. “Hardly, but you must admit that you will look more masculine.” Rainbow shook her head, relinquishing her grip once the stallion ceased resisting. “Ponies still think I’m into mares, even though I’m not… Well, heck. I never was to begin with, and it doesn’t help you look like a mare with your mane like that. The last thing we need is everypony thinking we’re a herd without a stallion.” Peter blankly stared at the ceiling, exhaling. Maybe it did look a little frilly.
