Rainbow Dash soared through the air, as she did on a normal occasion. The wind in her mane, and through her pale cyan feathers, the familiar experience taking all the stress of the day away. Today was a Friday, that meant she had Saturday to do nothing productive. She delicately landed on a small hill near her cloud home taking in the view of Ponyville. when she heard an odd sound coming from the bushes to her right.
"Huh?" she wondered to herself as she tip-hoofed over by the bushes.
It was kind of like a purring sound or maybe even the sound of somepony's stomach growling. She peered into the tall green bush, pulling it's leaves apart to look inside. What she saw next was certainly surprising. it was a small purple lump with a bright green belly and a short tail of some kind. It's plump head seemingly didn't have a mouth and it had small adorable black eyes. Rainbow looked at it with pure shock, as she had never seen a creature like this before. not only that, but seemed to have made a nest of hardend rainbow, which sparkled in the sunlight.
"what the hay are you!?" she practically yelled
She let go of the bush's leaves and backed away. only to be followed by the purple lump. Rainbow was completely speech less. The strange animal tried it's hardest to "slither" it's way toward her, and the more Dash looked at it the more she realized it was nearly immobile. Suddenly it stopped and cocked it's head to the side and once again made a low purring sound.
Rainbow Dash cocked her head in the same direction, only to be surprised again. the animal had stretched itself, bent and turned, squishing itself into a new form. The newly formed animal had now taken the shape of Rainbow Dash herself.
"what the hay!?" she gasped
the animal then smiled at her mimicking her cocky grin perfectly. Now Dash found it best to start running, or flying for that matter. she flew up to her cloud home and bolted through the door, quickly locking it shut.
"I'm just hallucinating, there is no crazy changeling thing outside..." she said to herself as she walked to her bedroom. she flopped on her bed which was currently occupied by her pet tortoise, Tank.
"hey Tank" she started "I hope you're having a sane day..." she trailed off. Tank just slowly blinked.
Suddenly, she heard a strange sound coming from the direction of her door. she stared at it in fear hoping it wouldn't be the creature from outside. Unfortunately for her it was. It poured itself like a liquid under the door and quickly taking its purple lump shape again. Now Rainbow Dash was really freaked out. But she couldn't be for long as the animal had taken it's original form and made the purring sound once more. It stared at he blankly and seemed to want something. Dash began to think of it's current situation in a different perspective.
"maybe you're just lost, and need a home?" Dash asked "you're not like the changelings I'm used to seeing. and i guess you are kinda.....cute........"she quickly looked out side her window as if there was somepony listening to her. luckily, she didn't find any ponies and returned to the odd "changeling" or whatever it really was.
she picked it up and put it on her bed. Tank tucked his head into his shell in fear. The creature purred louder and rubbed it's head on her soft chest. Rainbow put her poked the strange thing with her hoof and found it's texture odd. It was soft, like a cat and yet somewhat rubbery.
"you're just full of surprises aren't you?" she asked the animal "you know, maybe Twilight knows what you are I mean she has like a million books, so she must have something!"
The creature then turned it's attention to Tank, who was still cowering in his shell. The animal bent over like it was a cat ready to pounce. The tortoise poked it's head out slightly to look at the new being. the purple lump nuzzled the tortoise's nose.
"you seem to get along with others too, so that's good. But I think I need to show you to Twilight see what information she's got on you." Rainbow said
The creature looked up and rubbed its head on her chest once again.
"Ok ok! jeez you sure are a loving little thing aren't you?" she laughed as she picked up her new "friend" and left the cloud house.
On the way to Twilight's library tree-home she found the critter to be very hard to hold, as it was heavy and refused to take a completely solid shape. It actually looked like it was enjoying itself watching Rainbow freak out every time it slipped through her hooves. Once, it had gone right through her hooves like a thick jelly and reformed itself on the back of them sitting upside down practically having the time of it's life.
"GAH!! I GIVE UP!" Rainbow shouted.
She figured if it could shape shift, it could save itself from falling. After about ten extra seconds, she landed at the door of the library and knocked on it. The lavender Mare she was looking for answered Rainbow's frantic knocks.
"Oh hey Rainbow-Dash!" Twilight exclaimed "What brings you here?"
"Uh..heh heh...I uh...found something...and er...need your help because I....havenoideawhatitisanditsticklingme!" she said quickly bursting into laughter.
Twilight rolled her eyes. "come in and take a seat and....WHAT THE HAY!?"
The purple lump was quite literally stuck to Rainbow Dash's side, making it's adorable cat noises.
"Rainbow where did you find that!?" Twilight asked, her fearful face now turning to a smile as the lump popped off of Dash.
"Well, uh.....the whole story?"
"Yeeeess..........."
"Okay so it started when........."
