Lighting strikes twice.

It was a nice day in Ponyville. The pegusi were making the weather like they always do on the schedule. The market on mane street was busy with activity.  A pale yellow mare with pale pink mane was trotting down the market place. She was on her way home from finishing her shopping, the yellow Pegasus looked up and found that the other pegusi set the weather up for a rain storm. She picked up the pace and made it to the out-skirts of town, when, without warning a flash of lightning struck the ground a few feet in front of her. She flew back several feet after the bolt hit, she got up shakily and walked over to the small crater it had left. At the center was a young colt some where along the lines of a teen. He had a pale blue coat and olive green mane, but what surprised her most was his cutie mark. It was a double lighting bolt on the side of his flank. The ground around him charred but he looked completely fine. Having a kind heart she went over and looked to see if he was o.k. She tapped him on the shoulder, but he didn’t move. It occurred to her that the colt was unconscious, so she picked him up and took him home. The next day she woke t find that the colt was a wake but not out of bed.

“Um, are you okay, mister?” the yellow mare asked. The colt did not respond to her question and just looked at her with olive green eyes.

“Oh, uh, my name is Fluttershy, can you tell me yours?” Fluttershy asked.

“My name … is … Rain Rider.” He said slowly. Surprised by his sudden use of his voice Fluttershy jumped a little. The colt named Rain Rider looked around the room and stopped at Fluttershy.

“Fluttershy, can … you … tell me … where I am?” Asked the colt. Fluttershy told the colt that he was in Ponyville and explained how she had found him. He tried to move out of the bed and tried to walk, but to the extent of him falling on his face. He tried again with fluttershy’s help, and learned fast. Soon he seen his wings and asked Fluttershy what they were.

“Oh, those are your wing’s you’re a Pegasus like me. You can use them to fly.” Fluttershy explained. Rider unfolded his wing’s experimentally, and found the action strange. The colts stomach suddenly growled. Fluttershy noticed and went down stairs to make breakfast.

Rider walked slowly through the hall and found the stairs. Now that he knew how to walk the stairs were another wall in his path. He set one hoof on one of the stairs and tried to walk down it was easy enough to get down, but he practically fell down the stairs. Once he got down to the first floor he looked around and found that the stair’s were on one side of the room.  He got up from the floor and quickly found the kitchen. He found Fluttershy taking out a baking sheet and placing it on the counter.

“Um, Fluttershy … are you … sure … I’m not … imposing.” Rider asked innocently. Fluttershy looked at him and smiled.

“No, I’m just happy to help my friends.” Fluttershy said. His cheeks flushed and he turned his gaze downward. The two pegusi sat down at the small table in the corner. The meal was quiet, they never said anything to each other until the end.

“Fluttershy, I hate to ask this, but may I be your room mate? You are my first friend, and I also have no place to go, I also don’t know how to fly.” Said Rider gaining more confidence in using his voice around Fluttershy. Fluttershy looked at him with a surprised look. She agreed to make him her room mate.

“I’m going to go see a friend of mine today you can come if you like, she is really nice.” Said Fluttershy gathering up the plates.

“Thank you Fluttershy. Do you know anybody that can teach me how to fly, seeing as I’m drawing a blank on the matter?” Asked rain Rider helping Fluttershy with the dishes. Fluttershy said that all of her friends will be over at the library.

“One of them is one of the best fliers in the world, I’m sure she’ll be able to teach you.”  Said Fluttershy as she finished with dishes.

The two set out for the library and to find Fluttershy’s friends. The library was impressive, the builders some how hollowed out a tree and carved into it shelves for the books. Fluttershy knocked on the door. A lavender unicorn mare opened the door and let the two of them in.

“So Fluttershy who is this, I don’t recognize him.” Asked the mare. “Oh, Twilight this is my room mate Rain Rider. His shyness is worse than mine.” Explained Fluttershy. The mare named Twilight gave him a good once over.

“It’s nice … to meet … you … twilight.” Rider said faintly. Twilight looked at rider in surprise.

“Wow Fluttershy, you right he’s more shy than you are,” said twilight as she continued to ask Rain Rider questions. “So how did you and Fluttershy meet?”. Rain Rider looked down and told his story.

“She found me in a charred crater left behind by a thunder bolt. She picked m up and took me over to her place and took care of me. Thing is I can’t remember anything but my name, and I don’t know how to fly.” Said Rider embarrassed. Little did they know that a cyan Pegasus walked in and couldn’t help but to laugh.

“you honestly don’t know how to fly, come on you’re joking, all pegusi know how to fly at you’re age.” Exclaimed the Pegasus. All Rain Rider did in response to this was to hang his head and start to cry.

“Rainbow dash, he can’t remember anything from his past. This is major, and you are certainly not helping the matter by making him feel bad.” Chastised Twilight. Fluttershy comforted Rain Rider, and got him to stop crying. More ponies entered the room during this little incident.

“Fluttershy, would you be so kind into introducing your new friend here?” asked a white unicorn mare. She was beautiful, her coat was as white as the driven snow. Her mane was a gorgeous shade of dark purple.

“Oh right, Pinkie pie, Applejack, Rarity, this is my room mate, Rain Rider. For reasons unexplainable he cant remember anything other than his name.” explained Fluttershy to the other ponies.

“Oh well that no good. Maybe all he need’s is a good whack to the head, maybe that will jog his memory?” said a pink mare hopping up and down. She was so happy her mane was curly and a darker pink than her coat. He made a mental note that, that was pinkie pie. An orange mare walked up and shook his hoof.

“Well it’s nice ta meet cha, names Applejack. If you ever need help were always willing ta help a friend.” Said the mare.

‘well they all seem nice and they all consider me a friend, I wonder why they do?’ he thought to himself. But he was scared by the fact that some pony may hit him on the head.

“Um, I have … a question … why do you … think … of me … as a … friend?” asked Rain Rider trying not to shake in fear that pinkie pie may come out of no where and whack him.

“Well any friend of Fluttershy is a friend of ours. If Fluttershy trust’s you then you must be a good person. Besides if any one is as shy as you are, then you must not have had any friends. So we’re gonna be your first.” Said the mare named Applejack. Rider was so happy at the revelation that he started to cry, but he wore a smile. This came as a surprise mostly to Fluttershy. When he calmed down Fluttershy turned to twilight.

“Do you know anything that can help him with his memory?” asked Fluttershy with slight worry in her voice.

“I’m not sure but I’ll see what I can find.” Said Twilight. Fluttershy nodded a thank you and turned to Rainbow Dash.

“Rainbow dash can you do me a favor, I need you to teach him how to fly, if any pony can do it I’m sure that you are the one.” Said Fluttershy pleadingly. Rainbow dash thought it over and turned to Fluttershy.

“Fine, I’ll do it, but you owe me one.” Rainbow Dash said grudgingly. Rainbow dash lead Rain Rider Out of the Library and told him to open his wings.

“If I going to teach you how to fly I’m Going to need to see your wings.” Said Rainbow dash. Rider did as he was told and opened his wings, but something he didn’t notice before had happened, metallic dust fell from his feathers. Rainbow dash noticed what happened and made a mental note to tell rarity. Rainbow dash took him to a nearby roof top and told him to run as fast as he can an jump off and land on the other roof.

“One thing first, you need to have your wings open in order to glide. That’s when you ride the wind and stay aloft. Go ahead and try I’ll be on the other side. Once you have gliding down we can move on to the real flying.” Said Rainbow dash taking off and landing on the adjacent roof. Rain Rider took a deep breath, and started to run. He opened his wings and jumped from the roof he landed smoothly and without trouble.

“Wow kid, you got over here really quick. Do that about 50 more times and then we can start with the part where you start flapping.” Said Rainbow dash.  Rain Rider nodded a response and began half way through though he was called down by Fluttershy.

“Yes Fluttershy, what is it?”asked the colt. Fluttershy had turned to him.

“Twilight just got a letter from Princess Celestia. She wants to see you and all of us. She didn’t give a reason.” Fluttershy said and then the two talked until Rainbow dash told Rain Rider to get back to work. The colt finished just as the sun was about to set. Rain Rider and Fluttershy went home. On the way there they talked about the events of the day.

The next morning Fluttershy woke Rain Rider up and the two met the others at the train station.

“Is every pony here, the train will be leaving soon. Where’s Fluttershy and Rain Rider, I told Princess Celestia that he will be joining us, but I can’t find them.” Said Twilight. A few seconds later Fluttershy and Rain Rider trotted on to the platform.

“Sorry we’re late, Rain Rider wakes up slowly. Are we ready to go?” Asked Fluttershy. Twilight nodded and the seven boarded the train. The train ride was only a few minutes. But all along the way Fluttershy talked to Rain Rider.

“Rain Rider, you are going to meet Princess Celestia. This is a big opportunity for you; can you try to not be so nervous around strange ponies?” Fluttershy asked Rain Rider trying not to be so pushy. Rain Rider nodded and looked out at the rolling landscape.

Up at Canterlot a white alicorn garbed in gold was looking out over the city that was her home town.

‘I wonder who this pony that was found after a lightning strike is.’ The mare thought to herself. Meanwhile, on the train to canterlot, Rain Rider had fallen a sleep and was woken up by pinkie pie with a sudden jab to the rib cage. Rider yelped in pain so loudly that it made Rainbow Dash jump in surprise, which didn’t happen often.

“Pinkie, wha the hey was tha fer, next time jus say my name an tap me on th shoulder.” Rider said slurring his speech.

Rider was still groggy after the rude waking of pinkie pies jab, his rib’s were still stinging, and sore. The group of seven made the long, but strait walk up to the royal place. They wound there way through the crowd and made it to the gates of the palace. The royal guards men found the familiar faces and let them in, though the only one how had any problems getting through the gates was Rider, seeing as they did not recognize him.

“It’s okay, he’s with us, you can let him through.” Said Twilight reassuring the guards. The guards gave Rain Rider a sideways look and let him pass.

The seven ponies found Princess Celestia in the throne room in the center of the palace.

“Princess Celestia, you wanted to take a look at Rain Rider?” Twilight said nervously. The mare dressed in gold turned and looked at the small group. She was tall, her face had seen many generations but held still held a youthful look. She image of a stylized sun on her flank.

“Oh, Twilight I never thought that you come here so soon, but yes I would like to see this ‘pony who was found in a charred crater after a lightning strike’.” Princess Celestia said to her student. Rain Rider Nervously walked forward. Princess Celestia a good examine of Rain Rider. It was only a matter of time until Princess Celestia noticed the bruise that pinkie pie gave him on the train.

“Oh, how did this happen?” Questioned Princess Celestia. It was a long and awkward silence before Rain Rider spoke.

“I was … a sleep … when I … was waked … by pinkie, the bruise … was from … her jab.” Said Rider quietly. Princess Celestia’s eyes widened that the colt used his voice the way he did. Fluttershy quickly moved over to him and comforted the best she could.

“I apologize for him being so shy; his shyness is worse than mine you see.” Fluttershy explained to Princess Celestia. Rain Rider almost broke out crying, out of sheer embarrassment. Luckily Fluttershy was by his side to make sure that he wouldn’t.

“oh I see. You’ll be just fine here.” Reassured Princess Celestia.

Rain Rider let out a small noise that sounded like a ‘thank you’. Even though Rider was very shy, he was adept with a sword and with robots. So once he figured out what he was able to do well was easy to figure out his cutie mark. The way they figured out that he was a good swordsman was Celestia gave him a makeshift wooden sword ad told him to try and cut a wooden dummy. in one fell swing nothing happened, but after several seconds the wood dummy splintered in two. The makeshift sword was still intact and undamaged. One thing caught the others off-guard was that even though that he wasn’t a unicorn, he could use magics. At first it looked like he was trying to clear his mind, which was the first step to performing a spell. Then a runic seal appeared around Rider and expanded to a great size. After a brilliant flash of light, what appeared to be a lump of blue and green, stirred and slowly rose to a sitting position. The form let out a huge yawn and looked strait ahead, eyes glazed over. There were other forms scattered around him. They all began to move at the exact same time. They all wore the colors of Riders friends.

“Is everybody alright?” Asked a woman in a white gown. Just then the form in blue came to his senses.

“Princess Celestia, what just happened?” Asked the form, in a voice that sounded like Riders. Celestia looked at the form and realized, he just performed an appearance transformation spell. She tried to stand, but unaccustomed to her new form, her legs buckled and she collapsed to her knees. Rider seeing this jumped to his feet and dashed over to her to help her try to walk in the new form. He seemed to be able to walk and even run in this strange new body. The others learned by experience which was longer than that of Celestia’s lesson.

“Rain Rider, do you realize that you just used magic. The spell you used was the level of a master. This is most curious; not only can you make a robot and use a sword with such precision, you can also use magic.” Princess Celestia told Rider. Rider looked down in contemplation. This never happened to him before; this was even more confusing than how he got amnesia. The sun was going down and was getting late, so Princess Celestia granted them a month’s stay but gave them tasks to do during there stay. Twilight was to look in the library to find If a Pegasus being able to use magic ever happened before, Rarity was to teach Rider basic magic, Rainbow dash was to  teach him how to fly, Applejack, Fluttershy, and pinkie pie were to teach him how to read, write, and manners.  But before they were aloud to retire to there rooms Rider was told how to remove the spell. Rider took the spell down on his first try. Everybody returned to normal and found there logging.

Once getting to his room, Rider felt a sharp pain in the back of his head he collapsed on the floor clutching his head with his hooves. He passed out an then woke in a location that had no color, a completely black area nothing was visible. No landmarks. No anything.

“What’s going on, where am I?” Rider asked trying not sweat in fear. Nothing answered but the echo of his own voice in the black. Suddenly he felt the pain again. The colorless location turned into a room with white walls. A decorated tree stood in one corner. The carpet was a light tan. A fire place held a roaring fire and in front of the fire was a little colt. He was playing with a black and white dog. A voice called out to the colt and he got up and went into another room. The colt looked exactly like Rider. ‘Could this be one of my memories? This colt looks just like me it’s strange.’ Rider thought through the pain. The young Rider came out of the other room and ran up a set of stairs. One minute later a gorgeous white mare with dark blue mane walked in to the living room. Her face was kind and gentle; her eye’s were a stunning deep green. At the front of the house the doorbell rang. Young Rider came down with an older filly behind him; they both ran to the front door and opened it. A stallion with saddle bags walked in after the two foals opened the door. His coat was a deep blue, but his mane was a dark red. He walked over to the foals and gave them a big hug. Something seemed extremely familiar about this situation. Soon static replaced the scene.

There were others standing over Rider as this happened, they looked worried that he was on the floor and unresponsive to them trying to wake him. After a few minutes Rider slowly opened his eyes and nearly vomited from the pain. He looked around; apparently someone had found him on the floor and put him in bed. The moon was low on the horizon and shone weakly through the windows. Fluttershy was there and so was Princess Celestia’s sister, Princess Luna. Fluttershy looked very worried to see Rider in so much pain.

“Ugh, what happened, can someone get me a bucket?” Rain Rider asked looking horrible.  Fluttershy hugged Rider first before letting Princess Luna explain.

“We found you unconscious on the floor in the hall. Can you tell us what happened?” Confessed Princess Luna. Rider looked even worse now then he did when woke up after passing out. Luna ordered the guards to go and fetch a bucket. In the meantime Rider explained what happened.

“Once I got to the door of my room I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head. Next thing I know I’m in a completely black place, nothing was there. I felt the pain and the environment changed to what looked to be living room. There was a colt about the age of five or six. There was also a beautiful unicorn mare her coat was white and her mane was a dark blue, also her eyes were an olive green. The colt looked like me but younger. There was a stallion who I’m assuming is my father.” Rider explained to Fluttershy and Luna.

“Can you tell me your name?” Asked Luna.

“My name is Rain Rider.” Rider said. Princess Luna looked Shocked that his name was Rain Rider.

“Rain Rider I have something to tell you,” Luna sighed, “You are personal guard for me and Celestia. That’s why you are so skilled with a sword and are able to use magics, you mother passed down the ability to use magic to you and your sister. But your father was a Pegasus and a brave on at that. He was the original personal guard.” Said Luna, trying not to excite the already hurt colt. Rain Rider tried to make sense of the already confusing situation.

“My father was a personal guard? No wonder he came home late even not at all.” Rider said after a wave of pain in his head as another memory came to the surface. As the wave of hurt left Luna and Fluttershy bid a farewell for the night and returned to bed and duties. Rider looked back through the memory that contained his entire family. It occurred to him that his parents may still be living at that house. Before he went to bed he made a promise to himself to ask Princess Celestia if she can tell him on if his parents are still alive.

The night passed slowly and sleep came with difficulty for Rain Rider. He was tried to sleep but to no avail. As the night dragged on Rider lay awake in his bed. His mind was racing on what Princess Luna had told him, her words rang through out his mind. A soft melody floated through his mind, It was a soothing tune that calmed his mind and made him drowsy. Sweet, sweet sleep soon enveloped him he hunkered down under the covers and fell in to blissful dreams. The night went by quickly after Rider fell asleep. Soon it was morning and Princess Celestia was already awake.

Rider woke and gave a deep yawn. Soon a flash of pink rammed him back into the mattress he immediately figured it was pinkie and gave a loud groan as the pink pony landed in his chest.

“GOOD MORNING RAIN RIDER, once I herd that you were having headaches I came to cheer you up, and what better than a party.” Said the bubbly pink pony not even taking a breath to breathe. Rider looked better but not by a lot.

“Good morning pinkie, and haven’t you ever heard of knockin before you come into somepony else’s room?” asked Rider wheezing the words due to pinkie on his chest. As he said the words pinkie noticed that he couldn’t breathe, so she climbed off of him. Rider got up and looked at pinkie.

“Is everypony else up yet, I sure am hungry?”  Rider asked looking at pinkie pie. Pinkie said that they are all down in the gardens, and Princess Celestia told her to come and get him. Rider walked with the hyper pony down to the gardens. They were all standing in front of Princess Celestia. The first to notice was Rainbow Dash, and She told Princess Celestia that pinkie pie and Rain Rider were right behind her. She turned and greeted the two of them.

“Rider, I was just informed that you had a serious migraine and passed out in the hall, are you alright?” asked Princess Celestia sounding very worried.

“Yes Princess Celestia and I believe I deserve an explanation on my family, your majesty.” Rider said to Princess Celestia. Celestia was taken a back on the tone of his voice, but he was right, he did deserve an explanation.

“As you wish, Yes your father was royal guard to me and Luna, where as your mother was a royal mage. They were both highly skilled and passed down there traits to you. Your mother and father were both very kind ponies and treated you and your sister with great kindness. Izumi went on to run my magic school where as you became both my royal guard and mage.” Celestia explained. Rider deciphered as much of the explanation as he could. Rider looked at Princess Celestia with a pleading look.

“Do you know if my family is still alive?” Rider asked trying not to cry. Princess Celestia nodded and began.

“Yes they are all still alive, if you like I may take you to them?” Princess Celestia asked. Rider requested Princess take them all to see his family. It was only a few minuets away from the palace gates. Princess Celestia Rang the doorbell. A few seconds later a white mare with deep blue mane answered the door. She was still a beautiful as Rider remembered.

“Oh, Princess Celestia may I help you?” the mare said with concern.

“Yes, but this matter may better be discussed inside. I believe we may have found someone.” Princess Celestia kindly. The mare looked intrigued and opened the door for her guests to enter. “You don’t mind if I brought some o my Friends do you?” asked Princess Celestia. The mare shook her head and then lead the others to the living room. They all sat down except for Rainbow Dash, who chose to hover.

“So you said you have some information on the disappearance of Rain Rider? I do hope he is okay. It’s been over two week’s sense he disappeared.” Said the mare looking a pictures of Rider when he was younger. Rain Rider looked at his mother who had the same olive green eyes he did.

“As a matter of fact he’s with us right now.” Said twilight. Riders mother looked ate the lavender unicorn. “I believe we haven’t been introduced yet, my name is Rena.” Rena said to the lavender unicorn. The greetings were short before his mother laid eyes on Rider for the first time. Rena reached a hoof out and Touched riders mane. She began to cry then embraced Rider in a gentle hug.

“I’m home, mom!” Rider said as he too began to cry.

“Geez, now you’re turning me soft!” Rainbow Dash groaned, which was met with a sharp jab to the ribs by applejack. Rena was as kind as he remembered as well. Just as Rena and Rider separated, Found the rest of his memories, the pain was more excruciating than any of the other times. It lasted for a good ten minutes. Rider passed out as the pain receded.

“Is he going to be okay Princess Celestia?” Rena asked with genuine fear and worry.

“He’s going to be just fine this happened before, this is what happens when he regains his memories, amnesia you see.” Said Celestia using her voice to calm the worried mother on what just happened. She relaxed a little at the explanation.

A few minutes later Rider woke and tried to get his thoughts together. It was getting late so he decided to go down stairs and found every one else a sleep even Princess Celestia was a sleep on the floor. Truth be told Rider was surprised to have one of the regal sisters stay the night. He found his mother in the kitchen working on dishes.

“Did I miss Dinner?” Asked Rider jokingly. Rena looked around and found Rider rubbing his eyes. Rena gave out a little giggle.

“Yes, but saved a portion for you, your friends are quite interesting. And they all think highly of you.” Rena said to the colt as he walked over to the microwave and started warming his dinner.

“Yeah, I met all of them through Fluttershy. She was the one who found me in a crater during a rain storm. They are my first friends you know; I always took my duties seriously and worked hard to protect Princess Celestia. I still remember the time I had used my self as a shield to protect cadence and shinning armor at the wedding. I even got the scar to prove it too. When I did have time off I either spent it training or studying a new spell. Now that I think about it having friends by your side is very comforting because they can help you through thick and thin.” Said Rider looking back through his newly found memories. Rena finished the dishes as the microwave went off. She sat down at the table in the kitchen, and Rider sat a cross form her.

“That was really nice of you to do at the wedding too, you were very brave. When I herd the thud of that knife I thought you didn’t make it in time but when  I seen you there with your signature seal placed and your arms in a T to make yourself bigger with that hilt embedded in your shoulder, I was so shocked on why you would put your self in harms way but now that I think about it you put your self second to protect the ones that are important to you, and to hear that you survived the event was truly something to behold. You’re just as brave as your father, he’s going to be proud of you to hear of what you have accomplished.” Rena said reminiscing with her son. Rider ate his dinner and it was divine. Rena always made the best food in the world.

“you are still the best cook in the world, mom. And I see those how hadn’t had your cooking before tend to get groggy.” Rider said looking at the seven ponies that were a sleep. Rena gave a small kiss and a hug.

“What’s important now is that you’re safe, and that make’s me proud to call you my son. I remember the time when Izumi went through her slap happy phase, she, no matter if you didn’t do anything wrong would slap you upside the back of the head. You thought that you always did something wrong. But soon she grew out of that habit.” Said Rena. Rider finished and washed his plate and put it with the others. Rider growing up with hi mother cooking the meals had grown accustomed to his mothers cooking style. Rider told his mother that he has getting blankets for there over night guests. He tip-hoofed up the stairs and went to the hall closet. He came back with seven dark blue blankets and placed one each over the sleeping ponies. Then told his mother that they should go to bed too, Rena agreed and they walked to there room’s. Closing the door behind him he flicked on the lights to his room. It was the way he had left it. He let out a large yawn turned off the lights and crawled into bed and went to sleep.

The next morning proved to be a challenge waking up for the mane six when they woke they were in there human form. Princess Celestia was not in the room but outside in the back yard with Rain Rider. The back yard was full of boulders from a quarry quite a bit away from the city. Rider had an odd looking sword. The handle had no hand guard and the blade was in the shape of a bat wing it was a fairly long compared to the colts arm. He threw the blade at the stone and the sword passed clean through. It disappeared, a split second later it was in his hand once again. The stone emitted a loud crack as the rock was split cleanly in two.

“Well looks like I got this down pat. I wonder if the others are up.”  Rider said as he replaced the sword in its scabbard. Rider noticed that one of his friends was awake and moving, and rather slowly at that. Rider and Princess Celestia walked in. and found a Pegasus tip-hoofing around the sleeping ponies. The colt had a crimson red mane and a navy blue coat.

“Dad, what are you doing it’s seven in the morning?” Rider asked the stallion.

“Ah, Rider I thought you came home. Your mother was worried sick over you not coming back.” The stallion said.

“Hello Roy, it’s been too long.” Said Princess Celestia. The cobalt Pegasus turned and smiled at Princess Celestia.

“Yes, indeed it has. So Rider, How’ve you been? I’m sure you’re doing great.” Roy smiled. Rider explained how he had saved Cadence and Twilights brother at there wedding. His father looked intrigued, and then shocked when rider got to the part when he almost died saving them. Roy gave out a yawn and told rider that there guests were going to wake soon so he better start making breakfast. The first to wake was Twilight, she woke to find them self’s still at riders place.

“Oh, man dinner last night was good but I went out like a light, a few seconds after I walked into the living room I fell a sleep. Man, Rena was a good cook. She’s really nice like Rider.” Twilight said while looking at her friend’s, still asleep. She decided not to wake, them especially Rarity. she and her friends knew not to wake the mare up. She would wake with time. Twilight rubbed the sleep from her eyes and followed her nose to the kitchen. Her vision was a little blurry from the deep sleep she was in. she looked at the colt standing over the stove. His eyes were wide open and awake. He was stirring something that smelled good.

“Morning, Rider. Did I miss breakfast?” Asked twilight sleepily. Rider shook his head and asked her to get some glasses from the cupboard. Twilight noticed that he had cut oranges in half, and a juicer next to them. Twilight picked up on half of the oranges and began to juice the oranges. Rainbow dash woke up then applejack woke soon after. Rainbow asked the same question Twilight did. Rider heard the doorbell ring.

‘I wonder who it could be this early in the morning.’ Rider thought to himself. He opened the door to find Shining Armor standing on the other side of the door. He looked at Rider with a stern look, and then his scowl turned into a smile.

“Hey, Rider, do you know where twilight is? I heard she was in Canterlot, but she never came by to stay the night.” He asked.

“Yeah, she spent the night here. My mom’s cooking has an effect on ponies that aren’t accustomed to her style of cooking. They, even Celestia were asleep on the floor, my mother and I thought best not to move them. Would you like to come in?” Rider asked opening the door wider. Shining Armor gladly accepted the invitation, and stepped inside. Rider told Shining Armor to make himself comfortable, and that he’ll get him when breakfast was ready.

‘Rider is just as kind as his mother; kinda make’s me wonder if he really can use his ability’s to help equestria. The thing is it’s only a matter of time before it awakens and manifests as crystal.’ Shining Armor thought to himself. Rider came out of the kitchen and walked up the stairs and knocked on his parents room door and told them breakfast was ready. He then came back down and looked at the small table in the kitchen.

‘That’s not going to be big enough to fit all of us. Maybe we should eat in the backyard. We do have a table for this kind of situation.’ Rider thought.

“Okay, the table inside won’t be big enough to fit all of us, so we’re going to have to eat out side. We have a table for this kind of thing.” Explained Rider. They all agreed and took all of the plates and silver ware they will need and set up the picnic table. It was a rather large table and it was able to accommodate them all comfortably.

“Oh, I never got to thank you for what you done for Cadence and I at our wedding. Thanks to you we are still here.” Commended Shining Armor.

“It was nothing, besides I was just doing my job. You would possibly do the same if you were in my position.” Said Rider shrugging. Shining Armor just noticed something on Riders Face and told him.

“Rider what’s that on your face it’s like a crystal?” Twilight and Shining Armor said in prefect unison. Rider looked at his reflection in his knife that he hasn’t touched. They were right; it was a small crystal about the size of a bit. It was a deep blue in color. He noticed that a fragment had grown out of the main part and started to grow around his left eye. As it grew as it started around the right side of his left eye it suddenly changed to a red gem stone.

“Princess Celestia, do you know what’s happening, I’m getting scared?” asked Rider with the look of raw fear in his eyes.

“As a matter a fact, I do, shining armor knows this as well. Your powers are starting to awaken, you area crystal bearer. That crystal’s power depends on what color the gemstone is. And it looks like it’s a bicolor gem, red and blue. That means you can control the elements that are associated with that color. Red must mean fire, blue on the other hand must mean ice and water.” Princess Celestia admitted. The crystal stopped growing and gleamed. Rarity looked closer at the gemstone.

“Why, they are a ruby and a sapphire, they are one of the most gorgeous and valuable gems in the world. But I never knew that they represented elements, the only elements that I know of are the elements of harmony.” Explained Rarity.

“Actually, there are more elements than the elements of harmony, the crystals he has on his face are elements of nature. But I thought they were only a myth.” Said Twilight.

“Yes, the elements of nature are fire, water, air, gravity, ice, earth, stone, crystals and health. He is a dual bearer.” Said celestia informatively. Rider looked at everybody’s wary faces as he felt a wave of frigid energy build behind the crystal. Soon it was too much to bear he got up and staggered over to the rock that he had split that same morning and pressed his hands against it. A pillar of jagged ice erupted around the stones sending them into an arctic prison. The wave of energy soon passed and rider collapsed into a sitting position. Exhausted rider looked at the spires of ice and stone; apparently he had a lot to learn about his new found powers. Rider slowly got up and trudged over to the table and flopped down on the bench where he was sitting last.

“So can any body teach me about my new abilities?  They are totally new to me. So can anyone explain why I got these powers?” Rider said his voice with a hint of fear.

“You were chosen to be a crystal bearer from birth, the crystals that you have represent your personality and the way you fight. You fight with fire in your heart and the will to protect the ones you hold dear. Your personality at first was distant and cool, yet your heart is kind and serene. You must learn how to control your powers alone, if you are able to come across another bearer they may not want or be able to teach you on how to control your new abilities. It may seem like a daunting task but you will learn in time and at your own pace. You were meant to protect this kingdom, and you may choose this task if you wish and fight alongside your friends.” Said Celestia trying to calm the fear in rider.

His crystal flashed and that was telling him that something powerful was coming. Rider looked immediately and found a black spot about the size of a pin head, but it was getting bigger soon he could tell who it was, it was Queen Chrysalis. She was about to dive bomb them all when rider got up and used his powers over ice to summon a obelisk of ice to impale her. However she was too fast and easily evaded the attack he than drew his sword out of its scabbard and flung it as hard as he could. The blade spun blade over hilt but to no avail, or so she thought. The blade soon reached it’s peak of the toss and sailed back down towards the changeling. The blade sliced through her calf and she howled with pain.

“Why you little I will destroy you and send you to oblivion.” Chrysalis growled in rage. She continued her charge until she was met with an arch of fire, she tried to block but ultimately failed. Her mane was singed and had bad burns over her arms and face. She plowed strait into the earth, creating a small impact crater. By the looks of it she should have been dead, but she got up and started to fire streams of magic at rider and his friends. He through up a wall of ice that held quite nicely, She fired until she realized that she was getting nowhere with this tactic. she quickly changed to another, one that may lower there guard and let her get to them.
