The Flight
There was a new moon this night the stars were even more visible from the deck of the Velocitatis, Every constellation seemed to glitter and dance from the bow of the drifting craft. There a midnight blue colored Pegasus with a sextant cutie mark on his flank was lost in thought while observing the beauty of the sky with his deep purple eyes. The Pegasus was weathered looking but seemed to have a cool air about him. His icy mane streaked with silver blew gently as the Velocitatis drifted silently miles above the cold ocean below. Than rather strong wind rocked the Velocitatis shaking the Pegasus from his daydreaming(at night), after several blinks and a head shake he was back to reality. He then made his way to the stern of the Velocitatis looking left and right checking many knots holding down a large cylindrical balloon that enabled the Velocitatis to float effortlessly hundreds of feet above the lands, then the Pegasus walked to the rear of the vessel and locked the steering wheel in place. After everything above deck seemed secure he stopped mid ship to get a bearing on his direction. After locating various Constellations he figured by one days flight he'll make it to Manehatten if the wind stayed at his back, he never used maps and such he always preferred using stars for navigation. The Pegasus yawned and stretched arching his back and unfolding his wings giving them a few slow flaps working out the knots in his back, he had been traveling for some time. He then turned around to pull a rope to open the trap door at mid deck to the lower deck, he descended the few stairs into the cargo hold. The hold was cluttered with artifacts, books, dried herbs and other curious things the Pegasus had procured on his world wide journey. As he made his way through various stacks of his consumables and treasures to the rear of air craft to the engine room.there was always a great deal of noise coming from the engine lots of clanking, hissing and ticking thank the heavens the the room was insulated or the pegasus would never get sleep. Once inside the engine room he approached the clockwork looking device comprised of gears, springs and other moving levers. The Pegasus moved to the side of the engine where a large crank rested he bit on to the handle and began turning it a multitude times moving his head bobbing forward and back with each turn of the crank. He wound it till it rebelled and refused to continue, After he ensured the clockwork engine wouldn't give out He then turned and left the engine room to the opposite end of the Velocitatis. He approached a doorway That was covered by a tattered sheet that served as a door to the room, he pulled back the sheet to reveal a small living area. The Pegasus made his way to a desk up against the far end of the room. To his left was somepony sleeping in a hammock, the Pegasus crept up to the desk trying to make as little noise as possible. The desk itself looked fairly old and stained with time, atop of the relic was a mess of star charts scattered about it's surface, he stacked them neatly and placed them on the left hemisphere of the desk. With the top of the desk a little cleaner than he found it the Pegasus opened a drawer at knee level that screeched as he opened it and pulled out a book. The noise made the pony in the hammock stir and mumble sleepy nonsense "hush...go back to sleep" the Pegasus whispered, the pony in the hammock responded with a "snoo" and drifted back to sleep. The Pegasus book in hoof set it on the desk, on it's cover centered in two lines in fine shimmering letters read "Cirrus Stratus Log Book" he grabbed a pen from a cup on the desk and scribbled some notes then shut the log book and put it away in the squeaky drawer. The blue Pegasus than shuffled like a zombie to his hammock on the right, he flopped into it and yawned "I think I should buy us beds." then fell asleep immediately.
