The air was stale and cold as we slowly breathed it in,
Hurting our lungs,
Everypony around me was silent as they we're walking in formation. The Moon brighten everything around us as the ground shook and vibrate under our hooves with our on going march,
But even though our hooves are numb we can still feel the cold ground press against them.
They said and train us to be emotionless killing machines, but even though that might be true, everyone of my feelings stuck to me like there branded right over my heart. But it seem like it would disappear withen seconds as I jump into battle,
My ears sloop down at the realization of knowing not all of us won't make it alive or I could die withen seconds in battle, "Even though were going to war; it does not mean you have to act like a mare on her period" A giggle said right beside me as a couple of laughs came followed it as making the pony's emotionless march inspired them to laugh.
I lift my head wondering where that came from, when I seen and relies who said that my heart skipped a beat, It was a mare with a white coat and brown mane and ponytail,
As I can clearly see a bit of it under her helmet Her smile and joke gave me hope and starts to make me smile along with her, "Where you're from?" I said with a smile and a giggle remembering her joke,
"I'm from Centerlot. You?" The beautiful mare said as she gave me a look of questioning.
It took a couple of mins to relies what she just asked as I shake my head, "F-From Manehatten. Well. At least the poor parts at least" I blushed as I hung my head.
"So why you join?" The mare said as she lift my head, "Or whats even your name?"
I stared into her eyes, but got quickly loss into her bright blue eyes. But I quickly shot into reality and ask "W-Well I join because I wanted to help and have a meaning... Plus my name is-" I was about to say my name but as the words that I hope I will never hear in my life, "CHANGELINGS!!!" As it quickly went into hell...
Prologue
"Welcome to the Luna Republic. Congrats cadet!" I look at the soldier nervously but yet excited, The sun shined through the window's, "Your bus will be here withen an a hour" I look at him confused, it seem so early and quick. They must be low on cavalry and good soldiers,
My name is Dexter Clifton, I'm a grey coated pegasus. I got blue eyes and a dark brown mane. And I'm a rookie for the great Luna Republic. I lived on the streets of Bostan, Me and my family was not the riches people there. More like the poorest but you get my point right? Anyways... I was thief, Poor and a cheater. I was known to get away from guards and still pretty much steal about anything I get my eyes on. My bus is here, I need to go.
On the way there All I could think of was my family, Not being able to say goodbye. But as if I can say goodbye now. As I climb onto the bus I look outside, Knowing how all the great times will be gone as I as soon as I go to camp. I start to remember all the great memories and fun times I had, The times when I was a small colt and just me and my friend always used to be the little trouble makers. "Hurry up!, Get on!. How long your going to stand there" The ponies said behind me but I quickly got onto the bus and sat in my seat. It was cold but comfortable. I look outside the window as I press my face onto it. "Well you look like you been through a lot" A pony said behind me, I turn my head in curiosity as I see a blue coated unicorn and with a dark mane and green eyes. I smile in glee at the pony, pulling the weight of my shoulders of the thoughts of my family,
"Mind telling me your name and where you from?" The blue coat unicorn said with a smile, lifting my spirits, "Its Dexter. Dexter Clifton and Bostan. you?" "Manehatten and the name's Donavon" We talked for a solid couple hours. Telling storys of our childhood. Most good then bad, After a hour or so we finely reach our destination.
