Chapter 1: Sweet Apple Acres
It was a hot day in Ponyville and all Mordecai could do was complain. “Fucking hate this damn heat!” He said as he emerged from the Everfree forest. He continued walking on a path towards a farm called ‘Sweet Apple Acres’. Mordecai looked at the farm’s sign. “Oh what a lovely name” He said sarcastically “after I get through with this I will have to check myself for diabetes.” Mordecai then came across a big red pony.
“OI! You sell apple treats here right?” He said to the red pony. The red pony was Kicking apple trees and making apples fall into a bucket. He looked buff and full of vigor. He had an apple as a cutie mark which gave Mordecai the impression that he was the owner.
“Eeyup.” Said the red pony as he continued to buck the apple trees.
Mordecai was intrigued by this pony. He walked over to him and asked,” What do they call you?”
The red pony didn’t respond. Mordecai assumed he was ignoring him.
“Oh you don’t talk much eh? Are you some kind of hoity toity shit?”
Mordecai was getting short on patience. He examined the red pony’s blank expression on his face. He looked around the farm to see if there was anyone else who could help him. He spotted an orange mare that appeared to be sleeping.
Mordecai trotted towards the pony. He stopped close enough to block the sunlight. He looked her over and confirmed that she was indeed sleeping.
“Hey lady, wake up!” Mordecai yelled
“Huh? What’s going on?” The orange pony said as she yawned and stretched out.
Mordecai tried to keep his cool as he said,” I am looking to buy some damn apple treats. I need a way to cool myself off in the motherfucking heat.”
“Well, why didn’t you say so partner. My name is Applejack but most folk call me AJ.” She said with a big smile on her face.
AppleJack got a cart full of apple treats. She pulled the cart up to Mordecai who had a scowl on his face. Swinging from one side to another, Mordecai waited impatiently for AppleJack to give him some service.
“What will you be having sir? We have apple tarts, apple pie, you name it!” AppleJack said as she pointed out the different food items she had.
AppleJack watched as Mordecai looked at each item. He took a long time and carefully went over each decision in his head. Finally after some time Mordecai came to a decision.
“Fuck it; just give me one of everything.” Mordecai said while pulling his coins out.
Mordecai practically tore his pouch when reaching in. AppleJack saw the way Mordecai was acting and became worried about him. She reached underneath her cart and pulled out a jug. The jug was red and had the letters ‘XXX,’ etched on. Appejack looked at the pony and got his attention.
“I think you might need this whole thing of my ‘special cider’. It will take some stress off of you as well as cool you off.”
Before Applejack could say anything else, Mordecai slammed his coin pouch on the cart and quickly drank the entire jug. As he did, Applejack got a worried look on her face.
“You do know what I meant when I said special cider right?” She said as she got out from behind her cart.
“I don’t fucking know. I’m just going to assume that you like me enough as a customer to give me a good fucking deal.” Mordecai was starting to slur his words.
As he moved around more, Mordecai was feeling light headed. He started stumbling over his hooves and hiccupping. Applejack quickly got a pillow I case the pony fell down. Mordecai who was going off on a tangent then fell against a tree and started to sleep.
“Some ponies can’t handle their liquor. I’ll let you sleep it off.” Applejack left Moredcai to his slumber.
Mordecai started to wake up. As he did he held his head and cringed a little.
“Holy fucking shit! My head hurts more than usual. What the fuck did I drink?” Mordecai got up stumbling a little.
“Is the little drunk awake? I haven’t seen someone drink the alcoholic cider so fast before” AppleJack was over by a fence and with her left hooves crossed behind the right hooves.
“You could have told me the cider was alcoholic. How many hours have passed?” Mordecai asked as he approached AJ.
“I reckon you have been sleeping for two hours; give or take.” Applejack then gave Mordecai some water to drink. “You will thank me later.”
Mordecai looked up and saw that night was falling. He took a drink of the water and excused himself. Applejack waved as Mordecai ran towards the center of the town. He approached the local inn and saw that there were no openings.
“Shit! I guess I will have to skip sleeping until I can find another place to stay.” Mordecai started walking towards the bridge and decided to sit underneath it.
