Chapter 1: A Bit About Myself
Hello, my name is irrelevant, and I have a story to tell you. I changed all the names in the story because of this, so I won’t get bugged about what happened to me 5 years ago. I don’t want to have millions of people emailing me (especially when My Little Pony: Friendship is magic is the most popular anime.) about this situation. I can’t forget about this. Trying to walk off this situation like it was fake, impossible.
Here is a bit about myself, today in this world. I am a Freshman at University of Southern California. I have many friends and I am a proud brony. I have a girlfriend that is 2 years older than I am. I met her at a brony convention and it was love at first sight. My life seems to be normal now, and I am out of depression. 5 years ago, in eighth grade, I was battling depression.
5 years ago was a time I don’t want to remember. It was a time in my life where I saw nothing but shades of gray in the real world. The only time I would see true color is when I would be watching My Little Pony. The show helps me escapes the problems of this world. A world where My Little Pony is frowned upon by non bronies, and a world of sin. I have hoped my life would change. I hoped that I can get over difficulties and move on. But how can you do this when your problems are everyday. These problems can be somewhat cured with my favorite show, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
It was quite simple how I became a brony, I saw a pony video to one of my favorite songs, fell in love, and then watched it from there. The show was very addicting and the show was on Season 1 when I first fell in love with it. The show offers great animation, voice acting, and characters. The music is great, which is why I am a brony along with the other reasons I stated.
I thought I was going to be one of the bronies that only watches the show. I found myself to be doing much more. Technically, I did everything. Drawing, writing, mix it, you name it. With me having tons of time, I did a lot of stuff within the community (I still do to this day).
The first thing I did was start to make covers to songs and create music. I had an alright singing voice that improved over time after I released more and more covers. I would cover the songs from the show, post them on YouTube. Then, I created music. I started to create songs with me singing in them. My singing spiked and I became a popular singer.
Writing was something that I loved to do. It was my favorite subject my favorite subject in school. So the fanfics that I wrote turned out to be excellent and got great ratings on them. I was shocked at first that people liked to read them and actually want more content. But soon, that was the norm for me.
I did drawings, created plushies, made dj mixes, create OCs, put captions on pictures, made iPhone cases, animate, and more. I had a bit of a name on the Internet. Everyday, my name increased in popularity. Soon, I started to make a bit of money cause of how popular my name had become. The money was used to pay for my trips to the conventions.
My parents don't think that my traveling to these conventions was acceptable. But with lots of convincing, I convinced them to let me do what I want. I make money at these conventions and a couple of my "used to be friends" found out. It spread and tons of people now k ow about my liking of the show. Which was bad.
Everybody finding out has caused people to bully me, frequently. I got tormented a lot. It was so much pain, I ended up thinking of suicide and leaving the fandom. My life was in depression, until I discovered something magical one afternoon.
Today was like no other day. I started out my day waking up to the sound of Anti Flag playing on my alarm clock. I sit in bed for a few minutes, listening to the music I am accustomed to hearing. In bed, the music flows in my ears and I accept every word I hear (which is bad to most people). I get out of bed and get dressed.
Today, my life feels like crap. I don't feel that I need to go on with life. Everything seems to be a burden these days. I have blamed no one except me for why I get treated this way. But today I will still be doing everything I have been doing, nothing will change.
Soon after I got ready for school, I head onto the bus. This day, I want to spare you what happened at school. The only thing you need to know is that I was bullied and I retaliated. This caused me to get my head almost split open on one of the lunch tables. I didn't feel any pain when I knew that my head probably suffered the trauma.
After school is what I want to talk about. After I got off the bus, I knew something was wrong. I started to head home, but I felt that someone was following me. Turns out that someone was. It also turns out that there were more than 1 person following me. It was 3 people. I knew who they were. They were some of the people that almost split my head open. I didn't run.
"Why aren't you running?" one of the bullies asked.
"Cause I know what your gonna do. I know you just want to cause trouble and I have gotten use to your pain. I have gotten used to your pain and the fact that all 3 of you are going through something right now. Your probably going through parents divorce or something like that."
"Enough talking, we are going to beat you up for making up lies like that. I think an ally will work," a bully exclaimed. They grabbed me, threw me into an ally and beat me up. I didn't feel much pain. I decided to fake screams of pain and soon enough, I was left alone.
I got up to leave, but something caught my eye. I looked back at what it was and it was a MLP comic. There were about 3 of them. All of them seemed to be in perfect condition, odd. I decided to take the comics home cause I had a good feeling about these comics. When I picked up all 3, I noticed a note that said:
Don't read aloud.
I was confused on why someone would write that and tossed the note, not knowing that when I read these comics aloud, my life would change forever.
