The morning dawned and the birds chirped their tune, the princess reclined on her well cushioned chair,
“Tuesday, I should expect a lesson about friendship from my faithful student any minute now” Princess Celestia thought.
She sipped on her tea and closed her eyes, leaning back in her chair, she tried to relax before another manuscript or a guard came bursting through the door with a message or whatnot, she set the teacup down, it was frustrating being princess, it really was It was tiring, almost to the extent that it was annoying and that whenever a manuscript or a guard came bursting through the door, you just want to rip that piece of parchment up or dismiss the guard, but she bottled all that up. She frowned in annoyance still eyes closed, thinking about her past, her parents, C…
“A message for you, you're highness” one of the 2 guards beside her interrupted,
She opened her eyes, levitated the piece of parchment with her magic, opened the message, and it read;
Dear Princess Celestia,
I learned today that no one is perfect. Even someone who is clumsy and breaks a lot of things, they aren’t trying to do that on purpose, they just want to do their best and try to help in any way they can, I learned that no matter who you are, you should always try you're best, no matter who you are and no matter what you do.
You're faithful student,
Twilight Sparkle
While half way through reading this, another message smoke drifted through the open window of Celestia’s window, she saw it from the corner of her eye, she folded up the current parchment that she was reading from her dear student and besides there was time for that later, most of the messages that she receives now-a-days consist mostly of invitations that where 3 lines long
“Waste of paper” She thought to herself,
“A parchment y…” The guard began,
“No need, I saw it” Princess Celestia replied,
The parchment levitated, the princess studied the parchment, it looked normal, yellowing grey, with a hint of blue, yet it looked really old, like it had just been recently uncovered by an excavation site but no matter what state the paper was in, she had to read it, she unfolded paper and inside was a message that made her recoil in shock, it was a message that had haunted her long before, a message that had her toss and turn in bed, the words repeating themselves in her nightmares, there was only 3 words embedded on it, yet these 3 words was enough to let her know that Canterlot and ponyville needed defense, 3 words made the most powerful pony in all of Equestria tremble in fear, she must inform her faithful student,
“Round up our troops” she told the guards beside her “Double the defense, double everything!”.

“*Sigh* finally, everything is back in order and thanks to you Spike, I will NEVER let Pinkie in here to find another book” Twilight sighed.
Twilight and Spike had been recently cleaning their library for the past 2 days, Pinkie wanted a book about Cupcakes though she never told Twilight why, but she did make Twilight regret even letting Pinkie in, Pinkie bounded around the place, knocking books from their respective shelves, and at the end, she didn’t even find the books she was looking for, so Twilight spent the past 2 days cleaning her tree library.
“I don’t know Twilight, if you are such a tidy pony, why didn’t you stop Pinkie when she moved you're quill?” Spike asked sweeping the floor
“Come on Spike” Chuckled Twilight” If I do that then the result would probably be Pinkamena, AGAIN and you know what happened last time”
Twilight told her companion, straightening her ink wells “So Spike, why don’t you take a break, I’ll take it from here, nothing much to clean up anyways”
Spike had difficulty answering, all he managed to blurt out were “Ahh…gr… *BURP!!*” Spike let out a giant burp and out popped a letter, Twilight stopped straightening her ink wells and immediately turned around to face Spike who picked up the letter, unfolded it, coughed and read in a grand voice;
“Dearest Twilight my faithful student, gather all of you're friends in you're library, I will be meeting the 6 of you at you're library in 10 or so minutes, Princess Celestia”.
Twilight frowned “What does Princess Celestia want from all 6 of us?”
Spike panicked at the thought “I…Is it Discord?! H…Has he come back?!”
Twilight calmed her worried little dragon “Calm down Spike, that isn't possible, and besides, even If it was, we should be seeing chocolate rain and cotton candy clouds in the sky by now, do you not agree with me?” Twilight questioned,
Spike calmed down a bit at those words and said “Well I guess you’re right, so shall we go and round everypony up?” Spike asked
“Ok” Twilight announced “Split up, I’ll go get Rarity and Pinkie Pie, you go and get Fluttershy and Apple Jack, oh and when you reach Fluttershy, ask her to get Rainbow Dash as well to meet at my library”
Spike nodded and darted out the door instantly, Twilight lingered for a few minutes after Spike slammed the door behind her. She WAS worried at Spike’s guesses, it DID seem like Spike may have a point. Maybe Discord broke out of his eternal stone prison…again; Twilight shook her head and thought about other things that may be the cause of the Princess requesting all 6 of them when a sudden door knock scared her
“GAH!!” She yelled
“Huh? Could that be the princess already??” Twilight thought, she looked at the clock, “No, only 2 minutes have passed”, she trotted over to the door and opened it to be greeted with the blank face of Lyra Heartstrings.
“Hi there Lyra!” Twilight exclaimed rather surprised at Lyra showing up “Can I help you with anything?”
Lyra seemed reluctant to talk
“Is there something wrong?” Twilight questioned Lyra turned her back against Twilight and galloped away “What in the name of Celestia…?”
Twilight started but a thought struck her
“Well, since I’m outside, I might as well go get the others” She thought and galloped off in search for Sugar Cube corner.
Along the way Twilight spotted Bon-bon pass her by,
“Bon-bon!” Twilight called Bon-bon turned her head to see Twilight jog towards her
“Oh hi there Twilight! How’s studying?” She asked
“It’s going fine, Bon-bon, I need to ask you something regarding you're sister”.
Twilight saw one of bon-bon’s eyebrows rise “What’s wrong with Lyra?” She questioned
“Well, here is the thing" Twilight began, "Lyra came by my library, she knocked on the door and I answered, she is reluctant to say anything, has anything been happening to her or between the 2 of you that may have upset her?” Twilight asked Bon-bon
Bon-bon's frown turned upside down
"Oh, I know what you are talking about Twilight, I know what she is feeling, she just needs to have a few more lessons with Blues to help her get on her way that’s all, and she really needs a few books on the subject Twilight! I guess she was just a bit shy to ask, but now that I think about it”
Bon-bon’s smile turned back into a frown
“It’s not like her to be shy and all, maybe…oh look!” Bon-bon pointed
Twilight looked to see Lyra in the distance trotting towards the 2 of them
“She’s right there, I’ll leave you to talk to her" Bon-bon said turning to go, "I need to pick up some treats at Sugarcube corner”
“Oh, and while you’re there Bon-bon” Twilight began, Bon-bon turned around “Can you tell Pinkie Pie to meet me at my Library?” Twilight asked
“Sure Twilight!” Bon-bon replied cheerily “See you later!” she waved
“Bye!” Twilight called and waved back.
“Lyra!” Twilight called
“Oh hi there Tw…” Lyra began but Twilight cut her short
“Lyra, are you ok? I didn’t mean to do anything wrong, I mean, you showed up and you didn't say anything, it’s ok, there’s nothing wrong about looking for a book, you don’t have to be shy”
Lyra recoiled at the sudden burst of questions
“Uh…Twilight...I wasn’t at you're Library today…” Lyra said
“What…you’re telling me that you WEREN'T at my Library today?” Twilight exclaimed
“Y…yes, I wasn't I was having one of my daily sessions with Blues, a…and…Oh, speaking of music and libraries, can I swing by, perhaps tomorrow to borrow a book about the history of Blues?” Lyra said, her happy composure returning.
Twilight, lost in confusion, shook her head and said “Oh…um…Sure! Come by tomorrow, you can see if you have anything that…um…you need”
Twilight lowered her head in thought
“Uh…are you ok Twilight?” Lyra questioned her happy face turning into a facial expression of worry and concern
“Yea!” Twilight said straightening her head and allowed a smile to crack from her mouth “No, I’m just thinking about…uh...Where Rarity is!” Twilight suddenly remembered the reason that she came outside in the first place
“Oh!”Lyra exclaimed her smile returning but for a fraction of a second as she looked up and thought “Uh…I think…I…saw Rarity in her boutique…not too sure, you should go check there” Lyra finished looking back at Twilight with a smile
“Oh, thanks Lyra, well, I’d best be off looking for Rarity!” Twilight responded
“Oh sure Twilight!” Lyra smiled “And I’ll be over, at about noon! See you then!” Lyra waved and trotted on.
Twilight trotted to Rarity’s boutique, she was confused, REALLY confused questions zoomed in her head, bouncing everywhere. There were simply so many questions that she wanted to know but it was hard to focus, all her questions where fighting for the spotlight, she pushed all the thoughts aside and concentrated on finding Carousel Boutique,
“Stay calm Twilight, stay calm” She thought to herself breathing in and out slowly
She saw the Boutique in the distance, she galloped towards it, only to be stopped by a call
“Twilight!” Shrilled a familiar voice
Twilight slowed to a halt and turned to where she heard the voice, she turned her head around to see Rarity galloping towards her.
“Darling, what is the rush for?” Rarity questioned “All of us are at you’re Library dear, but you aren't there, why are you going towards my boutique for?”
Twilight was shocked to see Rarity standing before her
“Rarity! I just asked Lyra if she has seen you and she said that you where at you’re Boutique!” Twilight shouted without knowing it.
Rarity jumped back in shock confusion and whimpered
“D…Darling w…what seems to be the problem…?”
Twilight realized that she was fuming, but she made no attempt to relax, confusion was spinning throughout her head like atoms whizzing around their respective nucleus,
“Why is nothing making sense?! What is wrong with Ponyville?!” She yelled aloud.
The ponies stared at Twilight but her gaze was fixed on Rarity,
“C…calm down Twilight…P…ponies are beginning to stare” Rarity whimpered trying her best to calm the fuming purple unicorn.
Rarity leaned forward and tried to calm Twilight and it worked, Twilight’s snorting subsided along with her angry facial expression, Rarity then tried to move Twilight by carefully nudging her forward
“*sigh* Ok, you can stop pushing me Rarity, I can walk” Twilight let a weak smile rip across her face and the 2 of them trotted back towards Twilight’s library, on their way back, Twilight broke the ice lingering around them, trying to make Rarity settle now that Twilight realized how angry she had been.
“Oh Rarity, I’m so sorry that I raised my voice at you I…” Twilight began
“Oh no, don’t worry about that darling, it’s quite alright” Rarity explained “I know that things surrounding you can get a little out of hoof every now and then but it’s quite alright, one should NEVER bottle up their anger only to release it on somepony but the past is the past by dear. Lyra was correct to an extent; I WAS walking to my Boutique when Pinkie Pie bounded towards me saying she wanted to talk to me about something regarding Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo and Applebloom, so we walked over to Starbits for a nice Dandelion and Chrysanthemum sandwich, and they where AMAZING, oh I urge you to try one Twilight, they are simply MARVELOUS, anyways, we talked for about a minute or 2 before Bon-bon called to Pinkie Pie and informed her that you needed her at you're library, waving a goodbye to Bon-bon, Pinkie Pie bounced towards you library and I followed to see what the fuss is about, we eventually arrived at you're Library seeing everypony there but you, so I set of to see where you went, I met Lyra while searching and she told me that you where heading towards my Boutique, so I galloped there and……here we are!”.
Twilight looked up to, not only see Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Apple Jack, Pinkie Pie and Spike, but to see Princess Celestia as well. A trickle of sweat rolled down her forehead as she realized that she was late, the princess requested that she would see her and the others in 10 minutes, yet she got sidetracked and completely lost control of time and her temper
“Princess Celestia!” Twilight quickly began “I didn’t mean to lose track of time I just…”
The Princess held out a hoof and that shut Twilight up in an instant, looking at Twilight, she calmly said
“Time is at stake here my faithful student, let us place this matter aside, I do however need to speak with all of you here”
Looking around at everypony as Twilight hung her head in shame,
“May we go inside?” The Princess asked.
Twilight’s head immediately jerked up and she hurriedly exclaimed
“Oh! Of course Princess!”
Her horn glistened and the door swung open to allow the Princess to walk in accompanied by Spike and 6 other ponies.
--//Chapter 3\--
Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack and Pinkie Pie all sat down while Rainbow Dash remained airborne, Princess Celestia immediately began looking for a book while Twilight and Spike rushed to the kitchen
“Princess Celestia would you like something?” Twilight asked her mentor
“No, thank you” was Celestia’s barely audible response.
Twilight asked everypony else, but neither of them wanted anything either. Princess Celestia, her attention drawn to the books, mumbled undecipherable words, the 7 (including Spike) soon began to chat to the others
“D’ya know what in tarnation she’s sayin or even doin here Twi?” Applejack whispered to Twilight but not taking her eyes off the Princess
“I don’t know Applejack” Twilight whispered back “But if I know Princess Celestia as well as I think I do, then I would say that if she comes inside you're Library and immediately starts to look through books, then we have a prob…”
“Twilight Sparkle…” The Princess began “Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity and Pinkie Pie” The 6 of them immediately stopped their conversations as they raised their heads and leaned forward, craning their heads, dying to hear what the Princess has to say, Pinkie’s head extended like a telescope and she looked like she was going to topple over. The Princess gulped down on a lump that started rising in her throat, but she pushed on and said 3 words that generated uproars among the 6
“War is coming”.
“W…war?”
*CLUNK*
“What in tarnation?!”
“Huh?!”
“WHAT?!”
“Oh no!”
Fluttershy whimpered, Rarity was out cold, Applejack exclaimed, Rainbow Dash wore a facial expression of excitement and fear at the same time, Pinkie Pie screamed and Spike wailed. It was only Twilight who had her mouth agape, she wanted to say something but her throat was dry and no words came out of them, she just sat there, not believing at the piece of news that she was informed
“Yes” Princess Celestia sighed, she closed her eyes and continued “I guess it is time Twilight and to everypony, It is time to tell you why I banished Princess Luna to the moon, the real reason why”
“Hold on Princess” Rainbow Dash exclaimed as the Princess opened her mouth to begin the story “If we have war? Why does Princess Luna have to do with all this? I mean, is Princess Luna going to…”
Rainbow Dash stopped and her mouth was hanging open in shock at what she managed to piece together
“No Rainbow Dash, my younger sister is not the cause of all this war” Princess Celestia responded “*Sigh* I suppose it is time you heard what happened my little ponies, the truth”.
“I arrived at my new home” Princess Celestia began
All 7 of them starting at her keeping their ears pricked not willing to miss a single word
“I saw my…big sister” She raised a hoof as a few of the ponies opened their mouths
“And we played happily, I loved my big sister, she was so loyal to me, yet, my parents showed her no affection, I found this rather perplexing and I asked my parents why this was the case, but they were reluctant to answer. Years passed as my older sister grew more and more violent, my parents did nothing but negative effects to her, one day, my parents came home, with another baby, she, was Princess Luna, about 2 years few by within a matter of a heartbeat and me and Luna heard the loudest and longest fight between my big sister and my parents, we both cried, the next day, s…she left with a note saying “I’ll come back”, that message haunted me in my dreams, I hate my sister for leaving, I was still quite young and did not know the reason of her absence, but I did as my parents told Luna. A decade passed and I heard whispers in Luna’s room, I could only assume that my parents were talking to Luna since the 3 of them where nowhere to be found, I glued my ear towards the door and eavesdropped, I know I should not have done so, but…”
At this point, Princess Celestia’s eyes where puffy and red, drops after drops of tears relentlessly tricked from her while Alicorn face, she took a deep breath and continued, but a little weaker
“But I heard valuable information, that night, I learned that my parents gave birth to my bigger sister, she what not what they expected, they did not want her, she was a...a mistake. Luna took this information in without knowing her biggest sister well, I loved my big sister, she was everything in my fillyhood and I loved her with all my heart. A few years rolled by and Luna addressed this issue again while both of us sat under Luna’s moonlight, she was bringing out the stars. We argued for hours, ending in hatred, broken links between the 2 of us…things…got…a…”
Princess Celestia was resisting her temptation to burst into tears, she swallowed a lump building up and continued “A little, out of hoof…I was angry at Luna for taking my parents side that… I banished her to the moon for 1000 years”
She could not carry on anymore, she was shattered by this painful memory, she simple could not continue and burst into tears, and bowed her head until it reached Twilights hard, wooden library door, the 7 where all sniffing and crying as well, even Rainbow Dash who, with her best attempts, was crying, she tried to fight it but she simple could not resist
“I…” continued the princess taking several deep breaths “I could never forgive myself for the damage I have inflicted on Luna that day, the nightmares relentlessly haunted me for several hundred years”
She tried to regain her composure, she took several deep breaths, and politely asked Twilight for a tissue, she daubed her eyes quickly and calmly questioned
“Who here has any questions, if you do, please raise you hoof” Immediately, all 7 of them raised their hooves in the air, eager to find out more about who this “big sister” was.
“May I guess that each and everypony, and Spike, has the question “Who is MY big sister?”
All 7 where nodding like bobble heads on a bumpy road
"Well, it isn’t really easy to explain why, but…hold on…why are the light levels dropping?”
Everypony, and Spike, looked around and indeed, the light levels where dropping, Twilight looked at her clock hanging on a wall
“It’s only 3 in the afternoon!” Twilight exclaimed “What in the wide wide world of Equestria is going o…”
A thunderous rumble cut Twilight’s sentence short
“What in the hay was that?”
“Gahh!!!”
“*squeal*”
“Ahh!!”
*GASP*
Everypony looked towards Rainbow Dash who was surprised herself
“What?” she questioned everypony, and Spike, Twilight began
“Rainbow, YOU are the weather pony, hoW CAN YOU EXPLAIN THIS?!”
Twilight’s shout rose to a yell as the winds forcing Twilight’s windows open. Anything that was not pinned down flew around the place as if a tornado was generating, the door, bursting open with a loud *BANG* Bits and pieces of loose items where dancing around the place. Everypony, and Spike, all yelled at the sudden change of weather and shock, the most shocking thing of all was Princess Celestia, fear in her eyes.
“Twilight” Celestia began as she saw her faithful students mouth open ready for another bout of screaming at Dash,
This is not Rainbow Dash’s faults, this is unnatural weather” Celestia walked towards the continuously banging door and fearfully said “Twilight, I…I must return to Canterlot, it is in danger, so is Ponyville, try to defend yourselves, using anything you can get you're hooves on, prepare yourselves. We are at war”.
