Running through the forest
As Rainbow and Zecora entered the zebra's personal room Ditzy stuffed herself with muffins. As the muffin supply quickly dwindled to nothing Ditzy went to investigate what Rainbow and Zecora were doing. She approached the door she had seen Rainbow go in and put an ear up to the door.
"But what can I do? Every time I see her I get a wing *ahem* and I either have to leave or do something with my wings so they won't stiffen." Ditzy overheard Rainbow say.
"The best thing to do is often within you. If you don't reveal your true feelings, Surely you will be reeling." The mysterious zebra said.
"But how am I supposed to tell her? I don't even know if she's like that." Rainbow said dejectedly.
"You may not know her preference. But you can find a reference."
Rainbow Sighed.
"I guess you're right."
Ditzy ran back to the table when she heard the two start heading to the door.
"Ready to go Ditz?" Rainbow asked.
"Yeah! We need to find more muffins!" Ditzy said excitedly.
"Thanks for having us Zecora."
"Please follow the path. Lest you feel the forest's wrath."
"Thanks for the warning see you later Zecora." Rainbow said.
"Bye miss Zecora!" Said Ditzy loudly.
With good byes said the two quickly got back to Ponyville for their afternoon muffins.
That night
Ditzy awoke with a small scream.
"what's going on mama?" Her small filly Dinky asked.
"Nothing go back to sleep my silly filly." Ditzy said quietly.
As she watched her daughter slowly return to sleep she thought of the dream she was just having. It had been recurring recently.
She was alone. In the dark. Nopony else was there so she just stood there unsure what to do. Suddenly the door opened and two large stallions dressed in sharp black suits dragged her to a chair and tied her to it. Then a small green pony with a malicious grin appeared with a table full of surgical equipment and hardware. He picked up the nails and hammer and approached the tied up mare. And then as the hammer was swinging down to hammer the first nail into her hoof she had awoken.
Every time she had this dream she had awoken screaming and sweaty. She wasn't sure what to make of it but it reminded her of the scars all over her body. She had gotten those when she was younger but wasn't exactly sure how she had gotten them. She knew that these dreams had something to do with the scars.
The next day
As Ditzy flew through the air quietly delivering the mail the ponies she was delivering to were asking her what was wrong. She said nothing and continued her route. When she flew back to her home and noticed that Dinky wasn't home she wasn't worried. She took out an old record and played it. Suddenly in flew Rainbow Dash. Well flew in is kind of the wrong term. She more of crashed through Ditzy's ceiling.
"Dashie?" She asked getting the mare back on her feet.
"Sorry Ditz. I kinda messed up while trying to practice the sonic rainboom. I'll pay for the repairs but I've got to go." She said starting to go towards the door.
Running through the forest
As Rainbow Dash cantered along beside Ditzy Doo, the pony more commonly known as Derpy, she couldn't help but notice the way the sun reflected off of Derpy's freshly washed mane. She felt the flutter that came to her heart every time she had seen the cross-eyed mare recently. She knew it was going to happen so before her wings happened to stiffen she took flight.
"Where are you going Dashie?" Derpy asked.
"Oh, uh, just stretching my wings is all Derpy." Rainbow responded.
Rainbow Dash loved the way Derpy would call her Dashie. As they neared the edge of the everfree forest, where Derpy had a delivery for Zecora, Rainbow Dash thought of her days in flight school where the only pony besides Gilda the Griffin would cheer her on was Derpy. To Rainbow Dash the best thing on any day was to walk back to the dorm with Derpy by her side going on about how there wasn't enough muffin choices in the mess hall. She giggled to herself remembering the mares strange obsession with muffins. She snapped out of her memories as Derpy flew up to see what was taking her so long.
"You okay Dashie?" Derpy asked.
"Yeah I'm fine. Just remembering the old days."
Derpy looked at her with a genuinely worried look. Oh what Rainbow Dash would give to have the courage to tell this sweet little mare what she thought of her.
As they were walking through the forest Rainbow Dash was wondering how to admit her feelings to the mare when they arrived at Zecora's house.
"DELIVERY!" Shouted Derpy.
"Oh how pleasant, a guest can be such a present." Said Zecora in the rhymes the zebra always spoke.
"So to what do I owe this pleasure? Could it be my ordered treasure?"
"Delivery for a Zecora the zebra." Derpy said reading the label on the packaging.
Rainbow Dash nearly facehoofed when she realized that Derpy didn't even know who the package was addressed to.
"That would be me, as you can plainly see."
"Okay I just need you to sign this and then we're off for some afternoon muffins."
"Please stay and be my guest, out here loneliness can be such a pest."
As they sat down Rainbow Dash noticed that Zecora was looking at her whenever she talked to Derpy.
"Rainbow Dash, may I talk to you in the other room about Pinkie Pie's latest bash?"
"Sure Zecora, Derpy we'll be right back."
"Ofay." said the mare with muffins in her mouth.
