Throwing off the Chainsby Silverdogz117ChaptersChapter 1: A thousand yearsChapter 2Chapter 3Chapter 4Chapter 5 (UNEDITED)Chapter 1: A thousand yearsChapter 1 A thousand years I suppose before I begin I should tell you how this all got started. One thousand years ago before Princess Luna ever became Nightmare Moon my kind arrived on Equis. My kind is of course Mankind or humans. We did nothing wrong, never ever intentionally hurt a pony. Yet we became the way we did because we might bring harm to the ponies. This started because of a war between two rival factions. The Iron-mongers and the Hunters. They started a war that brought all the human factions to one side or the other. Those stupid fillies that thought that it would be fun to watch the stupid humans fight. Remember when I said intentionally hurt a pony? Well the stupid pegasus flew right in front of a spear that had been thrown. She lived through it unfortunately because after the battle ended. Guess who showed up? No Celestia did not show up but her sister Luna. God I hate her for what she did. She saw the blood spilt but she also saw the raw strength and our hands. Humanity did not know this but there was only one place in the whole of Equistria that had enough ponies. Thats right motherfuckin' Ponyville. Anyway Luna cast an incredibly complicated spell that I'm told drained her for three days. This cursed spell reduced humans to mere animals. We only had basic instincts and couldn't think with higher cognitive abilities. She teleported all 500 survivors of the battle to the Canterlot caverns. We then set to mine the crystal. We mined the crystal and still do at least for the moment. After a while a new mine opened and some of us were sent to work in it. By then all of Equistria knew what had happened but now it was common place. In fact a few unicorns wanted to buy us to be their servants. SERVANTS!!! This is the only time any human has felt any gratitude towards the Royal Pony Sisters was when they refused to sell us. Remember the mine that opened? Well that mine opened in Ponyville. Now we humans had heard about what had happened to Princess Luna and the moon coming back yadda yadda yadda. ANYWAYs we were still stupid and had no higher thought. Some of us were used by Twilight to help her move stuff and the other elements also used us. Apparently Celestia had given the okay. We were more often than not treated cruelly by the citizens and sometimes the Elements except for Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash was the worst, she would make us run as far as we could. If we collapsed we got beaten. Fast-forward to yesterday. I was wor- Sorry, forgot to introduce myself. I am Will, I am 14. Continuing, yesterday I was working in the mine. I was about to chip out a ruby when... a bubble of white light flew down the tunnels. When it left I remembered what I was. For the first time I had access to higher thought. Back at the general living quarters everyone was in shock. For they had remembered too. I was always brash so I yelled. "Let us teach the tyrants about death. Let us let them know that we remembered!" To my surprise I saw lots of heads nodding and few smiles here and there. "Sir, I can get news to the other mines by tomorrow morning!" "How? Tell me how you can." "I can run faster than Rainbow Dash can!" he said triumphantly. "Excellent, tell them this. Next morning everyone must leave the mines. They MUST go to the main square. If anypony attacks them they may knock the out. Don't kill or maim, also once there at the stroke of 9 they must yell... "We remember, We WILL take our revenge. Then they must run to the Everfree and group at the castle of the royal pony sister." I said. "Sir, Yes sir." He yelled running off. Happy and content with my plan I joined the others in the sleeping quarters. I slowly drifted off to sleep. I was woken quite horribly by the feeling of being hit in the face by a white hoof. "Up, human up you are to help me today." said a slightly accented voice. Finding my voice I completely shocked her by saying. "No." "Whaaa. What do you mean no? I guess I'll whip you then." Looking up I saw the messenger last night holding a brick. I nodded and he brought it down swiftly. Knocking Rarity clean out. "Where'd you get the brick?" I asked quizzically "Found it." he said. "Good enough for me." I said standing up and gazing out among the assembled humans. I simply nodded and they followed me up the tunnels. One earth pony tried to stop us but was put down by the blunt end of a pick axe. We eventually made it out to the sunlight. Where a couple of guards tried to stop us. They weren't expecting a flanking maneuver. I can say that much. We walked in to the square and lined up. We waited and waited. Twilight Sparkle ran out to witness us. The clock struck nine. "WE REMEMBER, WE WILL TAKE OUR REVENGE!!! We then broke and ran for the Everfree. ------------------------------------------------------------------------Twilight's Perspective---------------------------------------------------------------------- I stood there shocked at what had taken place. The slaves had remembered? But what had they remembered? I ran to the mines and to their sleeping quarter. There I found Rarity slumped over with a sizable lump on her head. I gently woke her. "WHERE IS HE!" she yelled. "Who Rarity?" "The human." "In case you haven't noticed they're all gone." I said dryly. Rarity slumped over not willing to believe it. I ran home to find Spike. I needed to write a letter to the Princess! "SPIIIIIIIKE" I yelled. "Ow. Yes Twilight." he said coming down the stairs. "Take a letter please." I said waiting for him to pull out the letter and quill. "Dear Princess, All the slaves in town have left. But before they left they said that the remembered and that they would have their revenge. What did they remember and why are they so angry. Your Student, Twilight Sparkle" "Got it Twilight!" said Spike. "Send it please." Ten seconds later a reply came through. My Dearest Student, You must come to Canterlot immediately. Bring the Elements with you. They did the same thing outside the palace this morning. Yours, Celestia. Chapter 2Chapter 2 ------------------------------------------------------Still Twilight's Perspective------------------------------------------------------ I sent Spike to get Applejack and Pinkie while Rarity went and got Rainbow and Fluttershy. When Fluttershy came closer I could see that she looked almost euphoric (go look it up. I'm too lazy to tell you.). That was a surprise. Didn't she know that without the humans digging out gems all the appliances would soon stop working! "Twilight What the hell happened out there. I could hear the shouting from my cloud house!" exclaimed Rainbow. "Well Rainbow, the humans have apparently remembered something and now they're sentient and running around in the everfree." I said. If anything it was that Fluttershy's smile grew even bigger. "The Princess has told us to come to Canterlot apparently they had the same thing happen." I said. "Darn, Ah was hopin' to have some o' them work on the barn this morning." said Applejack. Then there was an almighty flash and Princess Luna was standing before me. "THOU ARE TAKING FAR TOO LONG!" she RCV'ed at us. "Thou shall come with us now." she said much quieter now thank Celestia, and with that she teleported us to the throne room. "Ah, my faithful student it has been far too long since we last saw each other." said Celestia warmly. "Princess we saw each other after Discord was vanquished." I said confused. "Oh, right. Anyway as for why you're here. Luna?" she asked. "Fine sister. About 1,002 years ago humans were their own race and lived outside of Equistria. They were quite warlike and vicious. They constantly fought each other, we watched in case they went after the our kingdom. However three little fillies managed to sneak past the guards to watch. I did not know at this time that it was pure accident but the pegasus filly got hit by a spear. It was not a mortal blow but I lost my head. I made a spell that created the humans we used to know." she said looking quite sorry for herself. "Girls, I believe that when the elements of harmony were used to undo Discords chaos it also broke the spell upon humanity." Said Celestia. "Now that they're free I believe that they will declare war on us." "Ha! They would sooo get their flank kicked in a war against us. " Said Rainbow. "No, Rainbow the humans stand a very good chance of winning because they're smart and can become as strong if not stronger than an earth pony with the right exercise. Unicorns magic will only be as a quarter of effective against them. And the pegasi stand the best chance but not a perfect one. The humans are very quick to learn mistakes and will rally if one of them is injured." said Celestia. "Only a quarter of effective Princess?" I asked confused as to how the humans were resistant to our magic. "Have you ever tried moving a human with magic?" Asked Luna "Well, no" I said. "You would have an easier time lifting a full grown dragon than lifting a single human." Said Luna. "We do not know why this is but it is." "Why did they announce that stuff?" Asked Pinkie speaking for the first time. "Probably for the shock and awe effect. But no more questions for now. We are getting to the reason why you're here.We believe that the raw power of the elements combined with our power will be enough to completely remove the humans from Equis." said Celestia "Where will they be going?" asked Fluttershy. "Do we really care?" said Rarity. "They are obviously hostile!" indignantly pointing at the lump on her head. "Not now it is time to prepare." said Celestia. -------------------------------------------------------------------------Will's perspective--------------------------------------------------------------------------- The look on the face of those ponies was PRICELESS they were so shocked that we could speak let alone run that fast. I guess Rainbow Dash helped us in a way. I was nearing the castle when a flood of memories came in to my mind. I was remembering my family. I could even remember my mother and father and their names. Howard and Marie. Our surname was Robinson and we were once part of the ruling class. I got to my feet and ran faster and faster determined to find my parents. They were standing outside of the castle waiting for me. Tears streamed down my face as I ran into their embrace for what seemed like the first time. We stood there hugging for at least a minute before pulling apart. I couldn't be angry at them for they didn't even know I was their son. It was a thanks to the ponies. We walked inside and found humans also rebuilding families and shouting their praises to the sky. Anyone who lost their parents were immeadiaty snatched up by other families and made a member. The repairs to the castle began the next day. Me and about 100 men went down to the cliffs on the opposite side of the river and slowly but surely began to remove chunks of stone to be made into brick for the walls. My mother and about 50 women were making glass out of the sand to replace shattered windows. About 50 more men and women were inside the castle cleaning it from top to bottom. Removing dust and plants and vermin. The military or what was left of it began to chop down trees and make longbows from them. Still others were cutting down trees to make furniture. It took about three months and about 50 monster attacks to finish the job and claim it as our territory. We then began to mine downwards and began to mine the iron ore to make armor and weapons. One clumsy scientist inadvertently made steel by knocking over something. Once steel was created it was used to reinforce doors and replace the old iron weapons. Our community was growing we were reaching 2,000 of us and about 1000 in the military. We were almost ready for revenge. Chapter 3Chapter 3 Retribution We were ready. It had been almost a year since we had been freed from that binding spell. I watched as the lines of troops snaked through the forest. Ponies feared the forest and for good reason, it wasn't tame and didn't fit in to their perfect world. A world we were going to bring crumbling down or die trying. I thought about how the memories had transferred to me. It was like they were always there but I couldn't use them at all. The head of my timber wolf Jack brought me from my thoughts. I gave him a good scratch behind the ears. "If we don't come back. Kill every single damn pony who enters the forest." I said to him. He looked at me as if to say. "Don't say that." I knew many of us would not return but I was glad he seemed to understand. I joined my place at the head of my platoon and we began our trek to Ponyville. As we walked through the forest we met as usual, not a single monster. I believe that since we were as chaotic as the forest it allowed us to live there. We never took more than we needed from the forest and in return it left us alone. We neared Ponyville and thoughts of our imprisonment flashed through my head. I felt white-hot anger course through me at our enslavement. We broke through the tree line and joined up with the rest of the army. Our army made an imposing sight in our burnished silver armor and iron swords. "This is the day we take our revenge!" cried my Father "This is the day we remind the Solar and Lunar tyrants that we will NOT go quietly into the dark. We will fight!" I felt pride at what my father said and so did the rest of my platoon. "Platoon leaders come here we must decide." said my Father. I knew what he was talking about and walked towards him. The rest of the platoon leaders stepped forward. Half were men and half were woman commanding platoons of their respective genders. I will also say that to underestimate a woman in battle. They are clever and sneaky and not afraid to fight dirty. "So. Total war or not" asked My father "Total" I said thinking about our slavery. "Total" Said my mother "Total" said the two men who commanded the other male platoons. "Total" said the two women who commanded the other female platoons. "It is decided then. Total war, complete crippling of the enemies will to fight." said my Father darkly. "Dismissed." I rejoined my platoon and informed them of the style of war. They were pleased and much cheering ensued. We began to march towards Ponyville. First though we passed by Sweet Apple Acres. I caught the eye of my father and he nodded. "Men let us destroy the first pony settlement." I yelled. "YES SIR!" came the enthusiastic response. The platoon and I rushed forward trampling the fence to bits and began carving a huge path of destruction to the barn. Applejack stared out the window at the smoke rising from the orchard. She wondered what the weather team was doing about it when the noise reached her. She could hear the march of soldiers and the thuds of axes and the crackling of torches. She stared out the window as the assailants of her property reached her view. Humans they had finally come. She rushed into Applebloom's room and woke her up. "Wuz... goin' on Applejack?" asked the sleepy Applebloom. "Humans are what's going on Applebloom." said Applejack. "Go wake up Grannysmith and get her to Ponyville." "What about you Applejack?" asked Applebloom her eyes wide with fear. "I'm going to get Big Mac and we're going to pack. We won't last long at all against them." said Applejack "We WILL join you in Ponyville. I promise." "O-okay Applejack." said Applebloom getting out of bed and going downstairs to get her Granny. Applejack went to her brother's room only to find him already up and the most important things on his bed. "They finally decided to come didn't they." said Big Mac staring out a window as the human's pillaged the farm. "Yup." said Applejack grabbing three suitcases and putting them on her back. Big Macintosh grabbed the other three and followed Applejack downstairs and out to the cart. They could see the tails of Applebloom and Granny Smith disappearing into the orchard heading towards Ponyville. They hitched up to the wagon and began to run like Nightmare Moon herself was chasing them. They kept running and running until they reached Twilight's Library. They unhitched and ran inside to find that the entire Elements was assembled. "We should just buck 'em back into the forest!" said Rainbow Dash. "That ain't gonna work sugarcube." interjected Applejack. "They're more armored than the Royal Guard." "Eeyup" said Big Mac. "Well I sent a letter to the Princess and she said that she was on her way with-" Twilight was interrupted by the screaming outside. Chapter 4Chapter 4 We had rejoined the rest of the army after destroying a 1/2 mile wide path through the orchard and removing the pony building. I had my men salt the earth after we went through as well. Though I'm not sure why but I could care less. One less pony settlement that stains Equis. Once I rejoined the army My father asked for a report. "One 1/2 mile wide swath of destruction cut through the orchard and the ground salted. Sir!" "Good. However we will show compassion to civilians but if a Royal Guard or civvie attacks. Put 'em down." he said "The elements?" "Here but they shouldn't be too much of a problem." My father said "No military training at all." I grinned as he said that. My mother's platoon, nicknamed the Valkyries, charged ahead and used the environment to their advantage they hopped over walls and entered houses through the upstairs window and marched the ponies out with little fuss. The ponies fussed greatly, wailing and promising that Celestia and the Elements would whip us back to severity. Our reply was to gag them and put inhibitor rings of their hoof. These rings stopped all of the internal magic ponies had, Unicorns couldn't magic, pegasi couldn't fly and earth ponies were normally strong rather than super strong. I liked the idea of ponies in chains after humanity had been in chains for so long. "Guards!" came the cry from a soldier. A small patrol of Royal guards were charging at us with spells charging and wings outstretched. My soldiers grew restless. I felt no need to hold them back from exacting a little revenge upon on the ponies. They simply charged forward and steel sliced through the golden alloy of the guards armor and the flesh beneath gave way to the cold steel piercing vital organs and snapping bones. Eventually the blades pierced the heart or the brain in one unfortunate case. In seconds soldiers of the Equestrian military were dead. We continued our march closer to the Town Hall. (Twilight's perspective) I couldn't believe that the human's had chosen the day before the midsummer-sun celebration of all days! It was like the Celebration was cursed. I pushed it out of my mind as I saw human mares? collecting ponies by crawling up the side of the walls and going in upstairs windows. In a few seconds screams rang out and ponies were marched out of the buildings. I hope the letter I had Spike send to the Princess had arrived. I got my answer in a green flash from Spike. I grabbed the letter with my magic and read it. It said. My dear Twilight, I could see the plating of the humans from here. I am bringing two-thirds of the Guard to Ponyville to engage the humans. You MUST join me at the rear of the Guard in case the humans win. Princess Luna will be there as well. Celestia/i] Twilight looked out the window and saw 3 of the 5 war chariots flying towards Ponyville. They were not equipped with weapons but were heavily armored. They also each held about 250 Guards so in total there were 750 guards in Ponyville. W "Girls we are going to Celestia." "Now?" asked Rainbow Dash. "Now." said Twilight and with that she charged up her horn and teleported the entire group. With a loud pop and slight flash Twilight and Co arrived next Celestia. Celestia's eyes were tired and she sighed quietly. "Twilight, We are about to see the first battle of humans for one thousand and three years." she said. Chapter 5 (UNEDITED)The thing to note about an army is that it is much like a living breathing organism. With the separate units acting as organs for the greater good of the whole. The human army was much like a polished machine. It gleamed in the sunlight and ran smoothly and efficiently. Each man or woman knowing their duty and doing it. Be it setting up barricades to tactical strategies to digging latrines. The pony army on the other hand was like an old man in comparison. Just as slow and twice as irritable when made to move or to do something quickly. Several ponies wondered aimlessly while only a few were doing their duties. All this was happening as I watched from Command Tent in the center of the Army. I watched the sun set and the moon begin to rise when an idea popped into my head. Dawn would be an excellent moment to attack because both Royal Sister's would be busy with their celestial charges. We could also use the ponies arrogance against them after all who would dare attack during the raising of the sun. I relayed my plan to my father and mother. Smiles spread across their faces at the audacity of my plan. We used a clever systems of runners that would go from the command tent to the commanders of the Millenniums then they would send their runners to the next large group and so on and so forth. I retired to my bunk to wait the coming battle. Dawn The time grew near for out attack. We were only waiting for the scouts to report the tale-tell blue and golden glows that signified the Alicorns were moving the Celestial bodies. The word came, swiftly and silently. We crept up on the left flank of the Pony camp. We had archers in the back who were ready to shoot down any pegasi that came near. I had seen those men nail a target from over a mile away. Especially the one called Robin Hood, it was rumored he could split the shaft of an arrow in the bulls-eye with another arrow. I saw the stark white flag fly followed by the blood red one. This meant the forward group would lead the charge with the flanks charging in when the ponies rallied. With a great shout the center charged forward slaughtering the pony sentries with a nary a fleeting glance. They began to cut through their hastily prepared fortifications with ease that only came with proper training. It was almost a beautiful sight to see the ponies massacred by the slaves that they once lorded over. An irony that was lost on the ponies. A great rallying cry went up among the ponies. I nudged Robin Hood and pointed at the rainbow maned pegasus who was leading the rally. "I want her dead." I said. "It shall be done, sir." said Robin as he drew back his bow and lined up the shot while the army rushed around him to attack the ponies unprotected flank. I was doing as a proper officer should, leading his troops into battle rather than following. Over head I could see the arrows keeping the pegasi off our backs. Most were easily hit by the archers but that damn rainbow... RAINBOW DASH! That was what it's damned name was. Then I saw a most beautiful a single arrow that was Robin's due to the white stripe on the shaft passed over head burying itself in the joint where wing meets pony body. She fell from the sky and such those who remembered her cheered at the thought of her snapping her neck in the landing. Celestia POV I had to admire their commander's use of tactics and the element of surprise upon us. After all once moving the sun and the moon we were at our weakest. Outside I could hear the screams of my little ponies dying as they fought against a race born of war. We would lose in a straight fight easily the humans were too well trained for that. All of a sudden the tent ripped open as one of the Elements fell through it. It appeared to be Rainbow Dash Element of Loyalty. She had a human arrow stuck in her joint where the wing met the body. I removed the arrow and staunched the bleeding but she would never fly as well as she used too. What had I brought upon our ponies? I didn't dare use the elements till the last minute as they could bond to humanity as the race showed aspects of all the elements often in one person. It was almost to the point where she wished her mother could be there to help.
