Big Changes

I wasn't prepared

I still remember when he was just a little dragon, sleeping in a little basket, with a little blanket over him. My number one assistant, and, more importantly, my best friend. He used to clean the library, help me with my studies, and always offered me support when things didn’t go to well…

But one day, I don’t remember when, nor do I want to, he started growing, and growing, and growing, and growing. Eventually, he got too big for the little house we lived on, started getting clumsy, the village was too small for him, he couldn’t give two steps without almost turning somepony into nothing but dust. He also sprouted wings, giving him the urge to fly. He started eating more, more than I could ever afford.

I didn’t want to admit it, but I had to set him free, let him go. But I just couldn’t. So, I started tightening the leash, always keeping my eye on him.

"Why are you doing this to me!? Let me GO!"

"NO! NEVER"

"Why?"

"Because I don't want to be left all alone!"

"Twilight... you said were prepared for this..."

Guess what? I wasn't...
