Lifted: The Unflown Pegasi
Chapter 1: Descension
"Well, today is the day. Just need a few more boxes."
Waking from a slumber, a young stallion rises from his bed. The last daily routine in his current location was a bittersweet feeling, but excitement filled his heart and mind, numbing any doubts he had about his decisions. Finally prepared for the day, he escaped his confounds- only to return to them once more. The sound of his hooves were the only things he could focus on, ignoring the environment around him. He trotted briefly for a moment, then returned his gaze back at the door that once kept the rooms behind it his home. Nailed to the door was a simple sign, but one that would change everything:
"Sold."
Gathering the remaining boxes he needed, he hastily trotted up to the checkout.
"So today is the last day?" A young mare greeted him as he placed the boxes on the counter. She was a friend. Not close by a long-shot, but not distant either. "I hate to see you leave such a nice home. Why move from the top tier?"
"Yes it is. As much as I am excited to leave, I'll definitely miss it here, seeing as I've lived here my whole life. I guess I just need a new scene. A new start to this story that is me."
"Oh, stop speaking so proper." She rolled her eyes, turning her head somewhat and looking back at him. "You always did have a fancy mouth." Her glare lowered to his mouth, as she bit her lower lip with hers.
"Yes I'm aware those days still existed." He chuckled a bit but kept a fixed expression. Placing his payment onto the counter, He took his basket in hoof. "If you ever come visit, I might give you a tour." He gave her a nod, a simple good-bye in a gesture. "later Mary."
She gave a sad smile. "Try using those things once in a while!"
He slowed his pace as he exited the store. Giving a reluctant wave of his wings. "Rosemary... you know I'll never use them." Returning his wings to his back, he began to make the trip back to his belongings he needed to pack.
The door creaked open, and slowly shut behind him. Boxes were piled and scattered around the rooms. He ventured off to pack the rest of his room. It didnt include much, but he valued whatever he had in his immediate sleeping quarters. He then stopped, looking down as his wings stretched themselves out. He had flown before, very well too. However, he had not flown for years. Maybe two? Three? Five? He couldn't remember. Forcing his eyes shut, he slammed his wings onto his back, Throwing himself onto his bed, and laying there. Just laying there. After a few moments, he lifted the lids of his eyes. The ocean blue color in them was enough to paint the skies clear. He sighed in disappointment and anguish. "Am I ever going to allow myself to use you again...?" He found some comfort in talking to himself. He was not mental by far, but he thought to himself that talking to your conscious keeps you sane. He managed to lift himself upright and lay regularly on his bed, bringing a wing to his snout. "How could I ever bring myself to use you again...?" Memories filled his head of that one frightful day. He blocked the memories from his mind, focusing on getting back to packing. Forcing himself up, he finished up packing his belongings, and laid them onto the cart which was waiting outside. Mid-day rolled around very quickly than he remembered. "Seems you travel faster when people are busy, Celestia." He glared up at the sun through the clouds, then joined his moving team at the front of the cart. He was not pulling, but he found it respectful to accompany them by walking. Throwing one last thing onto an open box in the pile, he sighed and waved good-bye to the beautiful city he once lived in.
"Good-bye Rosemary. Good-bye mom."
He paused for a moment, saddened by the fact that this was it. Of course he would visit, but it just seemed so... different now. He looked back into the cart, smiling upon seeing the objects he placed on top.
Goggles.
"Good-bye. Canterlot."
And so, his descension began. To Ponyville.
