//-------------------------------------------------------// The life of Jazz -by internalwelter350- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: The Next Day Of School //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: The Next Day Of School That night he sat on his bed until his alarm beeped telling him to get ready for school. He hopped out of bed, and walked down the stairs he walked to the bathroom and picked up the brush he brushed his mane until it felt soft. Then he brushed his teeth then set out to school. The light of day came quickly as Celestia rose the sun, he couldn't stop thinking about the dream. Questions flowed through his mind as he thought of the sax he found. he finally made his way to school, where all the kids were either walking around or playing some kind of game. He just plopped himself under a tree, then the gang he wasn't hoping would find him. "What do you want Stone?" Stone replied, "I don't know I just want to see how my band geek is doing." he said with a devious smile. Jazz got up got into his face and replied with anger surging in him, "don't...call...me...band geek." "So we want to fight don't we, well we all know who will win." Jazz replied, "so be it." Jazz tackled him and planted his hoof on his eye. Stone threw him off. Then grabbed a sharp stick, and with such force, sliced his shoulder. pain surged through his shoulder, and blood trickled down his shoulder. Stone was about to stab his eye when Miss Cherilee, was galloping over and pushed Stone off him. Miss Cherilee realized the blood on his shoulder, she shouted to the class to get inside and she will be right back. Jazz was being rushed to the hospital. When he was sent home he had at least 30 stitches, and he could barely move his leg with all the pain. He limped back upstairs and sat on his bed and looked at all the pictures. At the corner of his eye he saw a bright flash, he looked over and he saw the same black, and small rectangular case. He walked up to the case and flicked the locks, and what was in there but the same saxophone he saw in his dream. More questions were flooding through his head as he looked at the instrument, he hurried up and closed it and said to himself, "this is it, this is my time to shine." //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: First Day Of Music Class //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: First Day Of Music Class Just days after he found his saxophone, and he ended up signing up for music. he was already first chair saxophone, it seemed that his skill was, more than a skill but he played normally anyway. Jazz couldn't believe it his parents actually let him play a solo at a concert. His heart was filled with joy as he herd the news. He was going to play Celtic music called, "Oh Danny Boy" he couldn't stop thinking about it as he walked to school the day after he herd the news. As he was carrying his case with his brightly lit horn, his magic came yesterday after he got out of bed, as he walked to his class his mentor was waiting for him. She was also a unicorn with a black pelt she played the piano with him, and she made him come closer to finally mastering his music. The bullies at school left him alone now, witch was another thing that made him exited on the inside. As they walked into the practice room where she helped him sight read then they started to play the actual song. She said he was exemplary and she hasn't had a saxophone student like him before, just playing it in front his teacher made him cheerful. they were getting ready to leave and she asked, "hey ya know what? You should play in front of the class." He nodded and she told him to wait here. She walked back into the room and nodded, she said he could play. As they got everything set up the piano was in place and she walked to the piano. Miss Cherilee told the class what Jazz was doing, and she nodded and walked to her desk. My music teacher walked to the piano and played the starting tune. He was frightened from nose to tail tip. When his teacher nodded he started to play. The class was staring in astonishment. he had no idea why, but he kept on playing. The class cheered him loudly and congratulated him, he still was wondering why then his teacher went wide eyed. She eyed his flank and his heart filled with joy as he saw his cutie mark. It was a saxophone, with musical notes around it. He cheered loudly as well, his heart was pounding and he thought in his mind, you did it Jazz you shined for the first time. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: The Day Of The Concert //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: The Day Of The Concert It was about a year later, since he got his cutie mark. but his parents died of a freak accident when they went to Canterlot for a vacation. Jazz was heart broken as he was standing with a black suit on next to his parents graves. The thought of what happened made tears stream out of his eyes, he missed his parents more than anything. But now he knew they were watching over him he was being pulled away bye his teacher, she said he could make a speech at his solo concert. The thought of it made him shiver, but he nodded slowly.    The day of the concert rolled along, and he still shivered as he was next, the announcer addressed his name and said that he has a speech that he has prepared for. As he slowly walked to the stage, his mentor was sitting in the front row and winked at him. He finally spoke, "I have gone through a lot as my life went on, but the day I found out my parents died." He looked up with a tear rolling down his eye. He spoke again with a shaky voice, "when I found my parents died, my heart was broken but that day my senses went down and I went suicidal. But after a few weeks, I sat on my bed thinking, and I learned my lesson that day. You have to let things go, and still keep the memory, but keep going. Worry about whats important...in life." The crowd of ponies cheered loudly, and not any single one of then was not crying. Then he raised his voice and shouted, "I am now going to play a Celtic song called Oh Danny Boy." He got down from the podium and sat on his chair. He went silent and he played. A singer was singing the lyrics. Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen and down the mountain side The summer's gone and all the roses falling It's you, it's you, must go and I must bide But come ye back when summer's in the meadow Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow Oh, Danny boy, oh, Danny boy, I love you so But when ye come and all the flowers are dying If I am dead and dead I well may be You'll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say an 'Ave' there for meAnd I shall hear tho' soft you tread above me And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be For you will bend and tell me that you love me And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me. As the song ended the audience cheered, and he stood up and bowed. And he thought of his favorite quote in his mind, I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone...loves...music. //-------------------------------------------------------// EPILOUGE //-------------------------------------------------------// EPILOUGE About 10 years later, he had a son who was a unicorn that looked almost exactly like Jazz. Jazz's wife was a unicorn as well she was cream white and had, a blue and white mane, and her name was Sweet Cream. He met her after his concert 10 years back when he was exiting the building. They became more than friends and soon they got married. They sat on the table as they ate. They finally finished dinner and Sweet took their son to bed. He and sweet curled up in bed and fell asleep, before he drifted off, he whispered to himself, "I have shined in personal ways, and in public ways, but I have never shone more than what I had created...my son and he will hopefully be an artist himself one day." and he drited off to sleep. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: The Begining //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: The Begining As a very young colt Jazz always had a taste for music, his favorite instrument was the saxophone alto to be exact, but the other, bigger colts at school called him a "band geek" but later on everything changed... A silky white unicorn, with a grey and black mane, walked down the path, as he ventured back to his home in the middle of ponyville. Life with him was always low and no one ever talked to him except for his parents and the bullies at school. And he always came back with some kind of wound on him but he went through it anyways. As much as he felt pain, it kept pushing him forward. He always dreamed that he would someday be a saxophone artist, but he knew that would take time as much as money and more pain and sorrow. he came home with the same smell of cigarette smoke, his parents were smokers, and they never usually payed attention to him. He just came in with a quick hello and he trotted up the stairs. He walked to his room and opened up he drew a lot of jazz bands, and he would usually stare at them and think about what it would look like if he was in a band like that. Jazz sat on his bed for about an hour and he looked at the clock, it was 8:55 pm, he yawned and fell asleep. Then he was sucked into what seemed like endless darkness. He woke up and found himself in a wide sun shiny grassy field, and he mumbled, "I'm dreaming." he looked around trying to get a good look at his surroundings. then he turned around and saw a small black and wide rectangular case, his senses told him not to open the case, but he got the guts to see whats inside. he flicked the locks that were securing it shut. he braced himself wondering what was going to jump out at him. But he tensed, and sensed nothing. And there before him was a brass extra gloss alto saxophone. His jaw dropped as he looked at the shiny alto sax. He picked up the reed and the mouthpiece and neck he screwed the ligature on and he pressed the neck into the actual instrument. Then he pressed down the upper three keys and it played the note. His heart filled with joy as he played that note. he let out a small prayer that said, "dear Celestia, please let this dream last." He started to play a tune and started to get the hang of it. then all hope broke loose, he awoke lying down on his bed, It felt as if the world was crashing down before him and he broke in tears. Then he sobbed, "I will never get my hooves on one of those again!"
